Definitions

  • bitumen membranes are membranes with a carrier insert, e.g. Raw felt, glass fleece or fabric, jute fabric, man-made fiber fleece or fabric, which either only soaked with bitumen impregnating compound or additionally provided with cover layers of bituminous covering compound on both sides and sprinkled with mineral substances.
  • a carrier insert e.g. Raw felt, glass fleece or fabric, jute fabric, man-made fiber fleece or fabric, which either only soaked with bitumen impregnating compound or additionally provided with cover layers of bituminous covering compound on both sides and sprinkled with mineral substances.
  • bitumen itself is a semi-volatile, dark-colored mixture of various organic substances obtained during the processing of suitable oils, the elastoviscose behavior of which changes with temperature.
  • the properties typical of bitumen are based on a colloidal system in which a phase (asphaltenes and petroleum resins) is present in a coherent (coherent) phase consisting of high-boiling oils (maltenes) in a stable distribution.
  • the asphaltenes and petroleum resins are not a uniform group of substances. They are the higher molecular weight parts in the bitumen and can be separated using suitable solvents.
  • the bitumen in the broadest sense also includes the bitumen portions of natural asphalt formed from petroleum in geological periods. Such bitumen is referred to as asphalt in the Anglo-Saxon language area (especially the USA).
  • bitumen is distinguished from asphalt.
  • asphalt is a naturally occurring or technically produced mixture of bitumen or bituminous binders and minerals as well as, if necessary, other aggregates and / or additives.
  • bitumen mixtures for the roofing industry which, in addition to the bitumen, contain neutralized sulfonated polymers and fillers (cf. US Pat. No. 4,371,641).
  • Bitumen mixtures of this type have the disadvantage that the content of polymer sulfonates on the one hand increases the water vapor permeability and on the other hand reduces the elasticity.
  • the invention relates to bitumen sheets, which are characterized in that they have a proportion of synthetic silica of 0.5 to 3.0% by weight, based on the bitumen impregnation mass, and / or bitumen covering mass in the bitumen impregnation mass used for their production synthetic silica from 0.5 to 5.0 wt .-%, based on the bituminous covering, contain.
  • Bitumen membrane is understood to mean a bitumen membrane as defined in DIN 55 946.
  • bitumen sheets according to the invention are preferably elastically modified bitumen sheets or polymer bitumen sheets. These can correspond to DIN standards DIN 52 133 (polymer bitumen welding membrane), 52 128, 52 143, 52 130, 52 131, 52 132 and / or 18 190.
  • Both synthetic and pyrogenic silicas in particular those produced by flame hydrolysis, can be used as synthetic silicas.
  • the precipitated silica can have a BET surface area of 120 to 500 m 2 / g. It can optionally be steam jet milled, spray dried or spray dried and milled. A spray-dried and ground precipitated silica is preferably used.
  • the pyrogenic, preferably flame-hydrolytically produced silica can have a BET surface area of 100 to 400 m 2 / g.
  • Elasticity improving material preferably SBS and / or EPDM rubbers in an amount of 2 to 15 wt .-%, based on the total mass.
  • the bitumen impregnating mass can contain other substances, e.g. Filler included.
  • Fillers such as Slate flour, limestone flour, fly ash, etc. are mineral, fine meal substances that are not soluble in water.
  • the proportion of filler can be from 0.1 to 15% by weight, based on the total mass.
  • Elasticity-improving substance preferably SBS and / or EPDM rubber, regenerated rubber, plasticizer oil in an amount of 3 to 15% by weight, based on the total mass.
  • the bituminous covering compound can contain other substances, e.g. Filler included. Fillers such as Slate flour, limestone flour, fly ash, etc. are mineral, fine meal substances that are not soluble in water.
  • the bituminous covering compound can contain other reinforcing materials, e.g. Glass fiber, mineral fiber, steel fiber, plastic fiber and / or cellulose fiber included.
  • the proportion of filler can be from 0.1 to 30% by weight, based on the total mass.
  • bitumen sheets according to the invention can be sprinkled in a known manner with slate chippings, talc, green stone and / or quartz sand.
  • bitumen sheets according to the invention can be produced analogously to known methods.
  • the production can be carried out as described in the publication "bitumen and asphalt pocket book” 5th edition, 1976, page 96 ff, Bauverlag GmbH.
  • the bitumen sheets according to the invention have the advantage that the plasticity range has been significantly expanded. This means that the temperature difference between low-temperature bending stability and heat resistance, which is determined on the sheets according to the invention in accordance with DIN 52 123, Part 2, is significantly increased by the use of synthetic silica.
  • the heat resistance can be increased to 120 ° C.
  • the addition of synthetic silica can save considerable amounts of known elasticity-improving substances, e.g. SBS rubber can be achieved.
  • bitumen membranes according to the invention can be used as bitumen roofing membranes, bitumen roof sealing membranes, vapor barrier membranes, bitumen welding membranes and / or as underlay membranes for tile and asbestos cement roofs.
  • the softening point is carried out on the bituminous covering with a ring and ball test in accordance with DIN 52 011.
  • bitumen sheets are produced in accordance with "bitumen and asphalt pocket book” 5th edition (1976), pages 96-98, the oxidation bitumen 85/40 being used as the bitumen impregnation mass.
