Definitions
- the invention relates to a device according to the preamble of patent claim 1.
- a plasma jet i.e. an ionized gas stream of very high speed. It occurs when an arc is ignited in a gas stream that is pressed through a nozzle and accelerated in this way.
- the arc normally starts from a negatively polarized electrode, the cathode, in the gas flow.
- the positive pole is either the nozzle itself or the metallic workpiece to be cut.
- any gas can be converted to plasma by the high temperatures of an arc.
- argon is used very often because the ionization voltage of this gas is low due to the high density.
- argon is relatively expensive, so that also with other gases, e.g. with nitrogen or with air.
- the plasma jet generates temperatures from 10 to over 20,000 ° C. This results in considerable thermal loads on the components of the plasma cutting device located in the vicinity of the plasma jet. These components, in particular the plasma nozzle bore, must therefore be protected against excessive thermal loads.
- the invention is based on the object of creating a device of the type mentioned which is operated not with the relatively expensive argon but with nitrogen or air as the plasma gas can, but which nevertheless works with a correspondingly long service life and reliably at the high temperatures that occur.
- the fact that the fine bores or slots are provided which surround the plasma nozzle bore provides effective cooling and thus protection against the extremely high thermal load.
- the gas flow emerging through the bores and slots also forms a protective shield against the heat radiation emanating from the workpiece. At the same time, the heat is removed by the gas flow.
- the gas flow generated by the bores or slots is directed inwards towards the plasma jet, whereby the protective effect is improved.
- the tangential bores placed under protection in claim 3 ensure, by means of an eddy current, an even distribution of the gas before entering the bores or slots and for a twisting and thus stable plasma jet.
- the device according to the invention it is possible to design the device according to the invention as a so-called single-gas or two-gas cutting device.
- a gas for example nitrogen
- the second gas for example carbon dioxide or compressed air
- the second gas is only used as cooling gas and is supplied to the bores or slots, preferably through the radially or tangentially running bores.
- the funnel-shaped extension which is protected under claim 9, makes it possible to divide the gas stream particularly cheaply and correctly and to direct it into the area of the Pladm nozzle bore.
- the cutting gun shown in Fig. 1 consists of a pistol grip 1, a switch 2 and the pistol head 3.
- the housing of the pistol head is designated by 4.
- the end of the housing is covered by a nozzle cap 5.
- the housing 4 of the gun head 3 is shown essentially in section.
- a feed line 6 for the cutting current leads into the housing and leads to the Supply of the plasma gas, in this case nitrogen, is hollow (at 7).
- a second supply line 8 transmits the ignition or pilot current and serves to supply the cooling gas, in this case carbon dioxide or compressed air. As shown at 9, this feed line 8 is also designed as a tube.
- the plasma gas passes from the feed line 6 into the centrally formed feed line 12.
- An insert 15 is screwed into this feed line 12, which is provided at its lower end with tangential bores 13, through which the plasma gas enters a central space 14, which extends from the other components located further out is separated by an insulating sleeve 17 and an annular seal 16.
- the plasma gas flows down from the bores 13 along the insulating sleeve 17 into the region of the electrode 18 and into the ignition chamber 25 and from there through the plasma nozzle bore 26, which is formed in a nozzle body 24, which consists of a copper connection.
- the electrode 18 is tapered at the front and it lies exactly in the middle of the ignition chamber 25 and the tip in turn lies on the center of the axis passing through the plasma nozzle bore 26. Furthermore, the electrode has a central flange 19.
- the electrode shaft 20, which is remote from the tip, is inserted into the end of the feed line 12 which is formed to form a precisely arranged fitting bushing 21.
- the middle flange 19 bears against the fitting bushing 21 of the feed line.
- a union nut 22 is screwed onto the end of the feed line.
- a contact surface 23 of the union nut rests on the corresponding surface of the central flange 19 and presses it firmly against the fitting bushing 21 of the feed line 12.
- This configuration makes it possible, on the one hand, to arrange the electrode exactly in the center with respect to the ignition chamber 25 and the plasma nozzle bore 26, and to maintain this arrangement without distortion even at high temperatures. On the other hand, good and safe conduction of the welding current to the electrode 18 is ensured.
- the cooling gas flowing through the cavity 9 passes into a cooling gas line 28 and from there into an annular space 29 which surrounds the insulating sleeve 17.
- the annular space 29 is connected to the fine bores or slots 27 which are formed in the nozzle body 24.
- These fine, centrally and uniformly distributed bores or slots 27 ensure a uniform and effective cooling flow which effectively protects the highly stressed components, in particular the nozzle body 24 in this area, from excessive thermal loads, in particular the heat radiation from the workpiece.
- the nozzle cap 5 is designed in such a way that it shields the bores or slots 27 and accordingly guides the cooling gas flow inwards.
- the nozzle body 24 is first supplied with a relatively low current with a high voltage and a superimposed high frequency via an ignition device as a positive pole.
- an ignition device as a positive pole.
- the plasma gas between the electrode 18 and the nozzle body 24 in the area of the ignition chamber 25 is ionized, so that a pilot arc is ignited is immediately entrained by the plasma gas flow and blown into the open through the plasma nozzle bore 26.
- the pilot arc strikes the plus-polarized workpiece, a much larger cutting current is automatically switched on and the ignition energy is switched off.
- the cooling gas flow through the bores or slots 27 provides appropriate cooling and shielding.
- the safety shutdown 10 to which the electrical lines 11 lead, ensures an automatic interruption.
- FIG. 3 The embodiment shown in FIG. 3 is a so-called gas cutting device.
- the same parts are designated here with the same reference numerals.
- a supply line 8 for the ignition or pilot current is provided.
- the only gas which in this case is compressed air, is supplied through the cavity 7 in the feed line 6.
- a chamber 35 adjoins the collecting space 32, which is closed at the bottom, ie has a bottom.
- This chamber 35 is formed in the electrode body 34, in which is also arranged the electrode 39 made of a corresponding resistant material, such as zircon.
- This electrode 39 is designed as a thin and elongated rod which is exactly opposite the plasma opening 26.
- the nozzle body 24 is in turn provided with the fine bores or slots 27, which are arranged centrally around the plasma nozzle bore 26 and run essentially axially.
- the ignition space 37 surrounding the electrode body 34 is at its upper end, i.e. provided with a funnel-shaped extension 38 at the end remote from the plasma nozzle bore 26.
- the ignition takes place in the same way as in the case of the embodiment according to FIG. 2, again with a safety shutdown 10 being provided.
- the compressed air supplied through lines 7 and 12 serves both as cooling gas and as plasma gas.
- This gas flows bundled against the bottom of the chamber 35 in the electrode body 34 and then through the bores 13 into the central space 14 and then on the one hand through the fine bores or slots 27 for the purpose of cooling and through the extension 38 and the ignition space 37 to the plasma nozzle bore 26 against the workpiece.
- the compressed air is divided so that on the one hand the plasma gas flow is generated and maintained stably, and on the other hand sufficient air for cooling and protection passes through the fine bores or slots 27.

Abstract
Description
- Fig. 1 eine Seitenansicht einer Ausführungsform einer Vorrichtung nach der Erfindung, die als Schneidpistole ausgebildet ist;
