Definitions
- the invention relates to a fabric writing tape which is impregnated with a transfer medium composed of a support and a colorant dispersed therein, the colorant being a color reaction product in the form of a Lewis acid / Lewis base color complex composed of an organic color former and a color developer, and, if appropriate Contains properties-improving additives.
- the previously known writing tapes which are used as ink ribbons or printing blankets in typewriters, calculating and booking machines, in punched card and data processing machines as well as in recording devices and addressing machines and the like, contain customary colorants in the form of dyes and / or pigments.
- colorant comprises dyes and pigments, the pigments being solvent-insoluble, while the dye is solvent-soluble or binder-soluble.
- Dyes of this type are described in detail in various editions of the Color Index, 3rd ed., 1971, (publisher: The Society of Dyes and Colorists, Bradford, Yorkshire, England and The American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists, Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, USA) and in Schulze's Dye Tables, 7th edition, 1931, Akademische Verlagsgesellschaft mbH, für.
- the ribbon colors for single-color machine ribbons mainly consist of rubbing in fat-soluble dyes or colored lacquers, in the case of document colors also soot, with oils, fats and fatty acids.
- Colors for multicolored ribbons usually have a slightly different basic composition. For example, they must not contain oleic acid to prevent them from diffusing into the other color zone.
- the ribbon colors are generally applied to the ribbons using ribbon impregnation machines after the printing process.
- the ink ribbon running over a steel cylinder is first inked on one side by pressing on a rubberized roller carrying the ink of the ink ribbon, and also on the back on a second steel cylinder.
- any required color strength can be achieved easily and without damaging the ribbon fabric.
- the two-color and multi-color ribbons are also produced using this process.
- the colored ribbons are then wound up on winding machines, e.g. B. on the typewriter coils.
- the colorants described above show the advantage of permanent colored lettering. However, due to their chemical nature, they do not allow the possibility of a chemical correction that does not damage the paper. There has been no shortage of attempts to remedy this deficiency by looking for suitable corrective agents. Long-term attempts in this direction did not lead to a positive result.
- a tissue writing tape of the type described at the outset results from DE-A-2 809 658.
- This consists of a carrier and a transfer layer applied thereon.
- the transfer layer consists of a mixture of a Lewis acid, a rearrangement product of a dye precursor and a surfactant, which are embedded in a binder.
- the binder is preferably a natural wax, carnauba wax, hard wax, ozokerite, polyethylene wax, paraffin wax, oxide wax or the like.
- a correction means is known from FR-A-2 427 369, which is applied to an ink ribbon in that one half is provided with the transfer layer containing a dye precursor and the other half with a correction mass.
- the invention relates to a fabric writing tape which is impregnated with a transfer medium composed of a support and a colorant dispersed therein, the colorant being a color reaction product in the form of a Lewis acid / Lewis base color complex comprising an organic color former and a color developer, and optionally contains the properties-improving additives, which is characterized in that the color complex is dissolved and / or finely dispersed in a carrier liquid and in addition to increasing the light fastness of the color complex in the transfer medium, the fabric writing tape contains a solid acidic Lewis acid with a large inner and outer surface .
- the fabric writing tape according to the invention therefore differs from the known fabric writing tapes essentially in that a very special colorant is used in the form of a color complex consisting of a specific chromogenic Lewis base and a corresponding developer in the form of a Lewis acid. These two reactants react to form a colorant which, in the context of the invention, is dissolved in the carrier liquid, which is a non-aqueous medium.
- the deletion is carried out simply by applying an inhibitor for the color reaction of the color reaction product used to the characters to be corrected.
- This inhibitor is a compound which has a pronounced Lewis base function and competes with the basic color former in the quenching process and has a stronger affinity for the Lewis acid in the form of a color developer. Due to the dynamic, d. H.
- Reversible reaction processes lead to this competitive reaction in that the dye complex is eliminated and replaced by a non-colored complex of inhibitor and color developer, in addition to which the original color former is present without any significant chemical influence.
- the following compounds are preferred as inhibitors: amines, amine oxides, quaternary ammonium, oxonium compounds, polymeric alkylene glycols and their ethers.
- Ethylene glycol with a molecular weight of approximately 4000-6000 has proven to be particularly suitable.
- Other different types of application (wax stick, roll-on stick) are also conceivable.
- a corresponding procedure can also be used with the other inhibitors, if appropriate with a modification which is readily apparent and advantageous to the person skilled in the art.
- a second writing tape track can be provided on the fabric writing tape, which is impregnated with a customary writing tape color. In the case of rewriting, this ink ribbon color would not be deleted, in contrast to the ink ribbon color based on the color reaction product.
- compounds having a Lewis base character or having an electron donor effect are suitable as color formers.
- the individual color formers are particularly recruited from the following classes of substances: leuco compounds based on auramine compounds, such as N- (2,5Dichlorphenyl) -leukauramine and N-benzoyl-leukauramine, diphenylmethane compounds, such as p-toluenesulfinic acid from Michler's hydrols, bis- (p- dimethylaminophenyl) benzotriazolylmethane, bis (p-dimethyalaminophenyl) indolylmethane, lactone compounds such as 3,3-bis (p-dimethylaminophenyl) phthalide, 3,3-bis (p-dimethylaminophenyl) -6-chlorophthalide , 3,3-bis- (p-dimethylaminopheny
- the choice of the corresponding color developer is not subject to any decisive restrictions. In any case, it must be such a color developer which, with the color formers discussed above, provides a colored product as part of a color reaction, which is dissolved and / or dispersed in the transfer medium to be used according to the invention or is soluble or finely dispersed in the selected carrier liquid.
- Lewis acids or acidic electron acceptors in particular phenolic compounds, inorganic and organic acids, their metal salts and esters are suitable as color developers. When esterifying these acids, there are no significant restrictions with regard to the alcohol selected.
- alkylphenols in particular p-tert-butylphenol, biphenols, in particular 2,2'-biphenol, 4,4'-biphenol, 4,4'-bi-o-cresol, 3,3-dibenzyl-4,4-dihydroxy-biphenyl, phenol ethers, such as in particular p-hydroxy-diphenyl ether, naphthols, in particular 1- or 2-hydroxynaphthalene, dihydroxybenzenes, such as especially pyrocatechol and resorcinol, substituted or unsubstituted, alkylene phenols, such as methylene diphenols , Isopropylidene diphenols, butylidene diphenols,
- phthalic acid derivatives such as in particular phthalic acid mono-ethylhexyl ester or its zinc salt
- low molecular weight oil-soluble alkyl or arylphenol / formaldehyde condensate resins such as in particular Zinc (II) p-phenylphenol formaldehyde resinate or zinc (II) t-butylphenol formaldehyde resinate.
- Insoluble acids or insoluble acidic compounds or compounds showing Lewis acid character are additionally used in the transfer medium of the fabric writing tape according to the invention. They are colorless or slightly colored. Their function is that the light fastness of the color complex is increased.
- the carrier liquid used in the context of the invention must meet the requirements that are specified for such a liquid in conventional tissue writing tapes. It should therefore be of high boiling point and low vapor pressure, non-sublimable, odorless (or no unpleasant smell), low viscosity (preferably less than 1500 mPa's) and non-toxic, and good solvent power for the colorant. Furthermore, it must not be drying or semi-drying oils. A variety of connections meet these general requirements. Carrier fluids such as those from pressure-sensitive are particularly suitable Color reaction papers have been known for many years. This is e.g. B.
- aromatics substance classes such as substituted benzene, especially dodecylbenzene, substituted biphenyls, such as in particular diisopropylbiphenyl and monoisobutylbiphenyl, terphenyls, such as hexa- / dodecahydro-terphenyl, naphthalenes, especially dialkylalkanes, such as especially diisopropylnaphthalene-naphthalene naphthalene, haloalkanes, such as, in particular, chlorinated paraffin with 20 to 60% by weight of chlorine and a carbon number of 8 to 30, and hydrocarbon chlorosulfonic acid esters, such as, in particular, paraffin chlorosulfonic acid phenyl ester. Also suitable are: phosphoric, lemon, benzoic, phthalic, sebertic, adipic and fatty acid esters, arylsulfonamides, alkanols and
- the colorant to be used according to the invention in the form of the color complex is of course used in an amount of up to about 50% by weight, depending on the respective combination of color complex and carrier liquid. This limit can also be exceeded in individual cases. As a rule, however, it should be considered preferred to dissolve the color complex in the carrier liquid in an amount of about 30 to 40% by weight.
- the dissolution can be carried out by stirring at an elevated temperature. The temperature is allowed however, only be raised so far that the color complex is not destroyed.
- the transfer medium obtained in this way is introduced into the selected fabric band by impregnation, for example in the procedure described at the beginning.
- additives can also be incorporated into the transfer medium or the carrier liquid, which serve to improve the properties of the fabric writing tape according to the invention or the color complex contained therein, in particular the viscosity of the transfer medium and its flowability and creep resistance, and the typeface of the character and the lightfastness thereof to raise.
- additives which are known to the person skilled in the art from the field of customary tissue writing tapes. Detailed explanations are therefore unnecessary.

Aufl., 1971, (Herausgeber: The Society of Dyes and Colorists, Bradford, Yorkshire, England and The American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists, Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, USA) sowie in Schulzes Farbstofftabellen, 7. Auflage, 1931, Akademische Verlagsgesellschaft m.b.H., Leipzig.
