Thus, there is also no suggestion to arrange a semi-cylindrical shell in a lower part of the generic crankcase. Furthermore, from DE-OS 19 64 049 a non-generic crankcase for a reciprocating internal combustion engine is known, which comprises walls which are pulled down deeply over the center of the crankshaft and are connected to an oil pan.
- the outer housing walls which run approximately from the center of the crankshaft near the contours of connecting rod violins, are each assigned inner housing walls in the area of the connecting rod bearings.
