Definitions
- the invention relates to an underground storage facility according to the preamble of claim 1.
- a warehouse for radioactive waste products is known, which are stored in underground silos.
- the silos consist of an outer self-supporting reinforced concrete tank, the jacket of which is equipped with fresh air supply shafts.
- the fresh air supply shafts open into the interior of the steel container, in which a double-walled container for receiving the radioactive waste products is arranged.
- the containers are cooled by natural convection of the fresh air supplied through the shafts.
- DE-OS 27 53 881 shows an underground storage for liquid radioactive waste, consisting of an underground cavity in which a deformable shell Metal plate is arranged, which has an inlet and an outlet connection, to which fill and drain lines are connected.
- the present invention has for its object to design the underground storage facility of the type described above so that the greatest possible security against. External influences are achieved with the most economical type of storage. In addition, adequate, safe and as simple as possible cooling of the stored radioactive substances that develop decay heat should be made possible. The impact on the biosphere is said to be minimal.
- the solution to the problem is provided by an interim storage facility, in which a cavern shape is proposed which, with a suitable soil (rock or rock), offers the greatest security against seismic loads, so that the greatest possible security against external influences is achieved.
- the training according to the invention enables extremely economical storage of spent nuclear reactor fuel elements and glazed radioactive waste.
- the temporary storage facility according to the invention is a so-called dry storage facility.
- the most optimal cavity shape is a standing ellipse, as stated in claim 2.
- a particularly favorable semi-axis ratio - taking into account the interior fittings - is 2: 1, as stated in claim 3.
- rock loads can be optimally removed in the case of static and / or dynamic loads by means of a spacious rearrangement and an activated mountain support ring according to claims 6, 7 and 8.
- the invention does not transfer any load to the interior, i.e. to the warehouse. Alternating tensile and compressive loads would occur when the load was transferred to the interior, while in the invention only the amount of compressive and tensile stresses in the rock and the anchors fluctuated without changing the sign. Since the invention -. trained caverns of the interim storage facility are in no way endangered by seismic loads, the support of the interior, i.e. the warehouse, possible on the cavity wall of the caverns, as stated in claim 9.
- the advantage of good radioactive shielding by the rock or soil surrounding the caverns is also used at the same time in all underground storage facilities.
- the invention also enables further caverns in the vicinity of an already operating cavern to be built structurally in the rock without adversely affecting the cavern already in operation.
- An advantageous embodiment of the invention is specified in claim 11. Because of the high stability of such a cavern, the elliptical shape of the cavern enables the cavern to be positioned low, so that the ventilation shafts become relatively long. This results in a high chimney effect with a correspondingly high exhaust air speed in the ventilation shafts, which has the advantage that fans for overcoming the flow resistances generated by the filters arranged in the inlet and outlet openings of the ventilation shafts can be dispensed with. This means a further improvement in the inherent security of such a cavern camp.
- the drawing shows a perspective view (Fig. 1) of an intermediate storage 2 for receiving spent nuclear reactor fuel elements and glazed radioactive waste.
- the intermediate storage consists of two storage buildings 4 and 6, which are arranged in assigned underground cavities, so-called caverns 8 and 10 , which are formed in a mountain 11.
- the cavern 8 together with storage building 4 is intended for the storage of spent nuclear reactor fuel elements and the cavern 10 along with storage building 6 for the storage of glazed radioactive waste.
- the caverns 8 and 10 are connected to one another by a cross tunnel 13.
- the cross-section of the caverns 8 and 10 has, as can be seen particularly clearly in FIGS. 3 and 4, approximately the shape of an upright ellipse, partly with an incompletely formed lower part, so that a flat sole 12 is formed and partly with a fully formed elliptical Sole 14, which forms a lower curved part 15 of the cavern and serves to receive a horizontal ventilation cooling pipe 16.
- the ventilation cooling pipe 16 branches into the storage area for the spent nuclear reactor fuel elements or for the glazed radioactive Waste.
- the cooling tube 16 receives its fresh air via one or more ventilation shafts or tunnels 18, 19 formed in the mountains 11.
- the fresh air sweeps through the storage area and enters as heated exhaust air into an approximately horizontal ventilation duct 2o and is discharged from there via one or more in Mountains 11 formed ventilation shafts 22 and 24 discharged.
- the ventilation duct 2o is through the upper elongated curved part 26 of the elliptical cavern above the actual warehouse building; of 6 and 4 respectively.
- the ventilation shafts open into the ventilation channel at the front or end so as not to reduce the good stability of the cavern.
- the separate cooling tube 16 and the lower curved part 15 of the cavern which is located below the floor of the warehouse, can be used as a cooling channel or ventilation channel 28, via which the Fresh air can be supplied to the storage area.
- the storage building is designed in such a way that it is supported on the wall of the cavern, but does not have to absorb external loads.
- the caverns 8, 10 are arranged so deep in the mountains 11 that there is a large-scale rearrangement of the mountain loads and a mountain support ring of at least 15 m thickness is created.
- the mountain support ring is preferably also activated with the aid of anchors (not shown).

Abstract
