Definitions
- the invention relates to a bearing seal between the interior of a centrifuge and its drive part with ring-shaped sealing elements encompassing a drive shaft protective sleeve, which are pressed against the drive side with a protective gas, such as nitrogen, which passes into the interior of the centrifuge.
- Centrifuges are also used in particular to separate suspensions into solids and liquid filtrates. In the pharmaceutical industry and in food production, it is essential to keep the interior of the centrifuge with the centrifuge drum clean relative to the drive part of the centrifuge. In addition, a seal between the interior of the centrifuge and the drive part is also necessary because explosive or aggressive gases can occur during centrifugation, which must be kept away from the drive part.
- the present invention has for its object to provide a bearing seal between the interior of a centrifuge and its drive part, which works reliably, requires little maintenance and in which the wearing parts can be easily replaced.
- At least two identical sealing elements are arranged axially one behind the other, that the drive shaft protective sleeve has a reduced diameter in the pressing area of the sealing element closest to the interior of the centrifuge and that the protective gas passes through this sealing element.
- suspensions are e.g. a filling tube 68 is inserted into the interior 20 of the centrifuge.
- the drum 66 of the centrifuge 22 is rotated by means of a motor 60.
- the drive takes place via the shaft 62 of the motor, V-belt 63, a V-belt pulley 64 and the drive shaft 50 of the drum 66.
- the hub 52 of the drum is firmly connected to the drive shaft 50 (see also FIG. 2).
- the solids collecting in the drum 66 during centrifugation are removed from the centrifuge 22 via a chute 70.
- the drum hub 52 shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 thus moves with the drive shaft 50 while the components 84 (FIG. 2) do not rotate.
- the bearing seal described in more detail below is provided between the stationary components 84 (which will be explained in more detail below) and the rotating shaft 50.
- a roller bearing 54 is located between the stationary parts 84 and the drive shaft 50.
- FIGS. 2, 3 and 4 The seal according to the invention is shown in more detail in FIGS. 2, 3 and 4.
- a protective sleeve 18 is placed around the shaft 50. It interacts with the sliding sealing elements 10, 12 and 14 and is abrasion-resistant and easy to replace.
- the sealing elements 10, 12 and 14 thus seal the interior 20 of the centrifuge 22, which extends via the shaft 80 to the sealing element 10, against the drive part of the centrifuge, which extends from the other side via the shaft 86 to the sealing element 14.
- FIG. 3 The arrangement of the sealing elements relative to the drive shaft protective sleeve 18 is shown in FIG. 3.
- the sealing elements 10, 12 and 14 are arranged axially one behind the other and each press with their inner edges against the protective sleeve 18.
- Spacer rings 24, between which the sealing elements are clamped on the outside, are used to mount the sealing elements 10, 12 and 14.
- the protective sleeve 18 has a smaller diameter in the area of contact with the sealing element 10 facing the interior 20 of the centrifuge 22 than in the area of contact with the other sealing elements 12 and 14, respectively. Since the sealing elements 10, 12 and 14 in the the other are identical to one another, this measure has the consequence that the sealing element 10 presses against the surface of the protective sleeve 18 with less pressure than the other two sealing elements 12 and 14 respectively.
- the protective gas channel 32 leads into the space between the sealing elements 10 and 12. Since, due to the reduced diameter of the protective sleeve 18 in the area of contact with the upper sealing element 10, the sealing effect of the sealing element 10 is less than that of the underlying one Sealing element 12, the protective gas (for example nitrogen) having a slight positive pressure will pass between the sealing element 10 and the protective sleeve 18.
- the flow of the protective gas thus runs via the channel 32 into the space between the sealing elements 10 and 12 in the shaft 80 and thus into the interior of the centrifuge 22. This flow ensures, on the one hand, that there are no dirt particles from the centrifuge in the area of the seals accumulate and affect them and on the other hand that no explosive or aggressive gases from the centrifuge into which drive parts that may have hot parts can get.
- the sealing elements 10, 12 and 14 and their spacer rings 24 are arranged in a flange 30.
- the flange 30 is not only penetrated by the channel 32 for the protective gas, but also has a channel 26 for lubricants.
- the lubricant channel 26 is used to relubricate the two lower sealing elements 12 and 14 at larger intervals.
- a third channel system 42 is provided in the flange 30.
- Detergent cleaning agent
- the flushing agent entering the groove 38 under pressure is sprayed through fine channels 40 provided between the surface 44 of the annular disc 36 and the groove 38 (see FIG. 5), so that contaminants are loosened and removed by the flushing agent.

Abstract
Description
- Fig. 3 eine perspektivische Darstellung der Lagerabdichtung,
