- Adjustable ingot molds which comprise a device, generally with return cylinders, making it possible to move the long sides very slightly apart while the desired adjustment of the short sides is carried out in order to modify the width of the slab. It is indeed necessary to allow the short sides to slide between the long sides, which normally trap them very tightly, so as to avoid any risk of jamming when adjusting the width.

It is thus possible to adjust the loosening of the long side 3 in order to avoid, while moving the short sides 7 during casting, any seizure of these, despite the ferrostatic pressure and phenomena of thermal origin.
