A fitting (1) forming a hinge for the leaf (2) of a domestic shutter or the door of a piece of furniture or the like, of the type comprising first and second elements (3, 4) mounted respectively on a fixed support forming the frame and said leaf (2) through the intermediary of hinge leaves comprising first oblong fastening holes for receiving fastening elements (7), at least two of the holes (5, 6; 9, 10) extending substantially in or in parallel with the common longitudinal extension of said holes, while a second hole (17) extends in a direction perpendicular to those of the above-mentioned first holes (5, 6), and a control unit (18) consisting of a gripping head (19), fixed pivotally by a fastening member and in one piece with a cam (20) engaged in the above-mentioned second hole and designed for adjusting the positioning and/or inclination of said fitting (1) and of the door or shutter at the time of installation, when the control unit (18) is actuated, characterized in that the above-mentioned cam comprises an eccentric cylindrical part (20) acting on the longitudinal edges of the above-mentioned second oblong hole (17) formed in each hinge leaf of the above-mentioned elements (3, 4).
2. A fitting according to claim 1, characterized in that a hinge leaf (3) comprises three oblong fastening holes (5, 6, 17), the intermediate hole (17) having a longitudinal axis perpendicular to the common longitudinal axis of each of the end two holes (5, 6).
3. A fitting according to one or other of the preceding claims, characterized in that the control unit (18) comprises a fastening element (7) serving at the same time as a fastening member.

A method of adjusting the positioning and/or the inclination of each of the hinge leaves (3, 4) of a shutter or door fitting according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that a control unit (18) consisting of a fixed element (7) and a six-sided head (19) is introduced into the second oblong hole (17) extending in the hinge leaf in a direction perpendicular to that of the first holes (5, 6; 9, 10), which control unit (18) controls a cam (20) mounted pivotally around the above-mentioned fixed element (7), which is rotated by a maximum of half a turn with the aid of a key (24).
