Definitions

  • the invention relates to a package having an opening aid with a gas-tight packaging envelope made of a flat, in particular flexible packaging material, in which a strip-like or tab-shaped tear-open area is provided, the packaging material having punched-through and / or weakening line pieces along at least part of the edges of this tear-open area, and wherein When the package is opened, the packaging material tears open along at least part of the edge of the tear-open area, and with a cover element made of flat material, which is detachably connected to the packaging material at the tear-open area over part of its area.
  • a pack of this type which is known from EP-A-30348, is preferably used to hold tissues or gauze pieces soaked in a preferably refreshing or disinfectant liquid.
  • the tear-open area provided in the packaging material is here an elongated area which is completely enclosed by a perforation line, while the cover element, which consists of flat material, is detachably connected to the packaging material by a binder and completely covers the said elongated area.
  • the cover element is also inseparably connected on one of its rectangular sides near one end of the tear-open area to the packing envelope by a strip-shaped heat seal.
  • the cover element When the package is opened, the cover element is gripped at its edge opposite the heat seal and pulled off in the direction of the heat seal, the packaging material tearing along the perforation line surrounding the tear-open area and the elongated tear-off area which remains adhering to the cover element being carried away by it that an elongated opening in the packaging envelope is opened at the location of the tear-open area.
  • the cover element together with the tear-open area adhering to it which remains connected to the packaging sleeve like a hinge via the strip-shaped heat seal, can be folded back into its original position after removal from the packaged goods for reclosing and the releasable connection can be restored by pressing.
  • An opening aid with resealability which operates essentially on the same principle, is also known from US-A-3,711,011 for a bag-shaped container.
  • the invention solves the problem of specifying a pack of the type mentioned, in which the packaging material tears when opened at the edge of a strip or tab-shaped tear-open area, which tends to be relatively small in terms of the material required for the opening aid should be able to extend over a relatively large area of the pack, and which is particularly easy to produce.
  • the package according to the invention is characterized in that the surface area of the cover element which is connected to the packaging material in a flat manner has an outer contour which surrounds only a partial area of the strip-like or tab-shaped tear-open area at the beginning thereof and which completely surrounds it in the event of a punching but not touched.
  • an axially stretched polyolefin film serving as a cover for a plastic container is known, which is heat-sealed to a tear-open tab over a triangular area, one of the triangular sides of which extends perpendicular to the film stretching direction. If the tear-open tab is now seen from the center of the triangle parallel to the film stretching direction in the direction of the triangle side mentioned, this polyolefin roll first tears along two triangle sides starting from a corner of the triangle, after which - outside of this triangular sealing connection - the polyolefin film along two parallel to one another and tears along the lines delimiting a tear strip in the film stretching direction.
  • the opening aid known from this US Pat. No. 3,302,856 is only to be used for a packaging material which consists of a heat-sealable film made of axially stretched plastic, in particular axially stretched thermoplastics, and is therefore limited in its possible application.
  • the sealing medium layer advantageously consists of a heat sealing medium, such as a PE or PVDC or hotmelt coating, a thickness of 0.02 to 0.06 mm or a cold adhesive coating based on latex with an application of 2- 7 g / m 2 (solid).
  • FIG. 1 shows a perspective view of a tubular bag pack 1, the packaging material of which has two weakening lines 2, which are connected at their ends by a line-shaped punching 3 provided in the packaging material, such that these weakening lines 2 and the punching 3rd limit a tear area 4.
  • the packaging material is detachably glued to a surface covering element 5 (which is shown in FIG. 1 with an exaggerated thickness for clarity) over an area 6 of the covering element surface, the outer contour 7 of this surface area 6 being punched through 3 completely encloses, but does not touch them.
  • the punching 3, which represents an opening in the packaging material, is closed gas-tight by the cover element 5.
  • the minimum distance of the contour 7 from the punching 3 is about 5 mm.
  • the cover element 5, the z. B. can advantageously be an adhesive label, is also not glued to an edge region 8, which lies opposite the running lines of weakness, with the packaging material.
  • the cover element 5 When the package is torn open, the cover element 5 is gripped at its edge region 8 and first pulled off from the packaging material in the direction of arrow 9 and then guided along the tearing region 4. The cover element 5 does not detach from the opening area 10, so that the package is opened in the usual way by tearing the lines of weakness 2. As a result of the U-shaped punching 3, there is no greater resistance to the pulling off of the tearing area 4 during the tearing process and the tearing of the packaging material on its weakening lines 2 can be carried out quickly and with little effort.
  • a piece of weakening line that is realized in particular by punching can be provided instead of the line-shaped punching that connects the two weakening lines 2. It is important that the adhesion of the flat connection with which the cover element is connected to the start of the tear strip is large enough to the force required to tear the packaging material on the pieces of weakening line connecting the two lines of weakness 2 transfer. Since no punching is provided in these pack variants, the cover element loses its sealing function and it is sufficient if the cover element is connected to the packaging material only at the beginning of the tear-open area.
  • FIG. 2 shows a tubular bag pack 11 which, like the pack according to FIG. 1, has a tear-open area 14 which is delimited by weakening lines 12 and a punching 13 connecting these weakening lines.
  • a flat covering element 15 is now glued in the area of the punching 13 on the inside of the packaging material.
  • the surface area 16 of the cover element 15 which is connected flatly to the packaging material during this bonding is window-shaped, i. H. in addition to an outer contour 17, it has an inner contour 18 delimiting the window opening, within which the cover element 15 is not glued to the packaging material.
  • the minimum distance of this inner contour 18 from the outer contour 17 is about 5 mm.
  • the opening formed by the punching 13 in the packaging material is now closed in a gas-tight manner in a manner similar to the packing according to FIG. 1. Since the cover element 15 in the present punching according to FIG. 2 is not glued to the packaging material in the area of the punching 13, the tear-off area beginning 20 forms an easily removable packaging material flap.
  • the tear-open area 14 is grasped at its beginning 20 and, in the direction of the arrow 19, is pulled off by tearing the lines of weakness 12 and detaching it from the cover element 15 attached to the inside of the packaging material.
  • the tear-open areas each occupy a relatively large part of the surface of the packaging front.
  • the prism-shaped envelope area of these packs can advantageously be provided with a subsequently attached sleeve-shaped loop made of sheet material, such as paper.
  • the outer packaging of the pack is then attached to this loop, unaffected by the design of the tear-open aid.
  • the sleeve-shaped loop can advantageously also be designed such that it forms the cover element at the same time.
  • the tear-open member of the package according to the invention in many cases also functions in a reproducible manner if the tear-open area is not laterally limited by lines of weakness.
  • the packaging material tears from the two ends of the punching along two substantially parallel or slightly converging or slightly diverging lines.
  • the packaging material consists of certain single-layer materials such as paper, a biaxially oriented polypropylene (OPP) or an aluminum foil.
  • OPP biaxially oriented polypropylene
  • multi-layer packaging materials as they are preferably used to build gas-tight packs, such as tubular bag packs, there is a differentiated tear behavior.
  • Such packaging material which is constructed in three layers, consists, for. B. - starting from the outside of the pack - from a 0.0-12 to 0.020 mm thick film made of biaxially oriented polypropylene (OPP), a 0.009 mm thick aluminum film, a kraft paper with a grammage of 40-60 g / m 2 and a cold adhesive coating Latex base (2-7 g / m 2 solid).
  • OPP biaxially oriented polypropylene
  • Fig. 3 shows a perspective view of a z. B. produced with such a packaging material, designed as a tubular bag pack according to the invention, in which no lines of weakness are provided.
  • the packaging material here has a U-shaped punching 33, which is closed again as a covering element 25 with an adhesive label partially coated with adhesive.
  • the outer contour 27 of the adhesive area 26 of the cover element 25 completely surrounds the punched hole 23 without, however, touching it.
  • the cover element 25 also has an edge region 28 with which it is not connected to the packaging material.
  • Fig. 4 shows the package during the tearing process in a partial representation in section. If, on the other hand, a packaging according to FIGS. 3 and 4 is used, a packaging material which - from the outside inwards - contains an OPP sheet, a kraft paper, an aluminum foil and finally the cold adhesive coating (in each case e.g. in the individual thicknesses in connection with 3 indicated), the tearing lines run together in a wedge shape, particularly when the package is torn open quickly, so that no opening that can be used to remove packaging material is formed.
  • a two-ply packaging material which is suitable for packs according to the invention, which do not require weakening lines that laterally delimit the tear-open area, also consists, for. B. - from the outside to the inside - from an aluminum foil, a coated kraft paper and the cold adhesive coating, each with individual thicknesses such as z. B. are specified in the packaging material used in connection with Figures 1 and 2.
  • suitable two-layer packaging materials are e.g. B. - in each case from the outside inwards - from a 0.012 to 0.030 mm thick OPP film, a 0.02 to 0.04 mm thick PE film and a cold adhesive coating or from a 0.009 mm thick aluminum film, a 0.02-0 , 03 mm thick OPP film and the cold adhesive coating.
  • the PE film and in the second case the OPP film forms the (thicker) carrier layer.
  • the gas-tight package according to the invention can primarily be used advantageously as a package for foods such as chocolates or baked goods and is optionally produced in the form of a tubular bag package.
  • their commercial usability is not limited to packages for solid packaging goods.
