Definitions
- the invention relates to a ratchet consisting of a working head, angled lever arm and a locking device securing the angling between the lever arm and the working head, which can be operated by a spindle arranged axially in the lever arm and running in a thread on the lever arm side.
- Such a ratchet is known from DE-PS 237 431.
- the working head has a ball on the back, which is mounted in a spherical joint fork of the lever arm.
- the rear ball By means of an axially penetrating and axially adjustable spindle through the tubular lever arm, the rear ball can be pressed tightly against the inner surface of the joint fork and thus the angling of the lever arm can be locked.
- a nut which is supported on the free end of the lever arm and which can be turned by means of a separate wrench is used for axial adjustment of the spindle.
- the invention has for its object to provide the generic ratchet with an inexpensive, easy-to-use locking device for the selected angle of the handle, in which the risk of unwanted unlocking is reliably prevented.
- the invention provides that the spindle carries a handle suitable for rotating the spindle at the rear end, that the locking device has an axially displaceable but non-rotatably mounted locking member which can be brought into positive engagement with the working head and that the spindle is at the front end with a thread opposite to the lever arm thread in engagement with the locking member.
- the positive engagement of the locking member with the working head ensures a high level of security against unintentional unlocking.
- the envisaged rotatability of the spindle provided with counter-rotating threads provides, since the axial movements add up in such counter-rotating threads, the particular advantage that a relatively deep positive engagement is achieved with a relatively small rotation of the spindle.
- the ratchet can be placed on the polygon to be rotated, e.g. B. a spark plug can be locked with one and the same hand by turning the handle in the desired angle and by pulling on the handle, the spark plug or the like can be loosened from their tight fit, after which the lock unlocks with the same hand and finally the ratchet can be operated with a steep position like a screwdriver.
- the thread on the lever arm side is expediently a left-hand thread, so that the locking takes place by turning the handle to the left, while turning to the right unlocks the locking.
- the tubular lever arm is designed at the front as an articulated fork, which receives the rear, flat part of the working head between two flat surfaces, and that the working head has teeth and the locking member on its back lying in the articulated fork are provided on its front with one or two wedge-shaped webs adapted to the teeth.
- the height of the toothing is approximately equal to or less than the axial displacement of the locking member at 180 ° rotation of the spindle.
- the handle has a bead-shaped end section which overlaps the end of the lever arm.
- the locking in the desired angle and the pivoting of the ratchet can be carried out.
- the handle can thus be handled twice, which is why it is expedient to ensure the locking position of the working head when handling the handle as a pivot lever.
- the central axes of the cross-sectional area of the handle have different lengths.
- the cross-sectional area of the handle can be a rounded or chamfered rectangle or an oval.
- the longer cross-sectional central axis of the handle when the working head is locked within the pivoting plane and in the unlocked position at an angle, for. B. is at right angles to the swivel plane of the ratchet. If such a handle is to be used for a vigorous swiveling movement, the handle tends to lie flat in the hand, i. H. turn into the swivel plane of the ratchet, which ensures that the locking position is maintained and maintained to the greatest possible extent.
- the ratchet consists of a working head 2 provided with a ratchet 1 and an overall tubular lever arm 3, which is designed as an articulated fork 4 at the front and surrounds the rear flat part 5 of the working head 2 between two flat surfaces.
- the lever arm 3 is pivotable relative to the working head 2 about a hinge pin 6.
- the rear part 5 of the working head 2 has a toothing 7 on its back lying in the joint fork 4, the individual teeth extending parallel to the axis of the joint pin 6.
- a locking member is axially displaceable, but due to its front square head 9 is rotatably mounted.
- the locking member On its front square head 9, the locking member is provided with two parallel, wedge-shaped webs 10, which are adapted to the dimensions of the toothing 7 and can be inserted in a positive manner in two tooth grooves.
- the axial displaceability of the locking member 8 is limited by an inner shoulder 11 provided on the lever arm 3, on which the square head 9 strikes.
- a multi-stepped spindle 12 on the thickest portion of a handle 13 is rigidly attached, which engages with a front, bead-shaped end portion 13a the rear end of the lever arm 3.
- This section is adjoined by a threaded section 14 which is screwed into a section of the lever arm 3 provided with an internal thread 15.
- a smooth threaded section 16 of the spindle 12 is adjoined by a front threaded connector 17 which is screwed into an axial threaded bore of the locking member 8.
- the threads 14 and 17 are in opposite directions, so that when the handle 13 is rotated in one direction both the spindle 12 to the left and additionally the locking member 8 are moved relative to the spindle 12 to the left in the locking position, while when the handle 13 is turned in the other direction, the unlocking movements add up.
- a rotation of the handle 13 by less than 180 ° is sufficient to lock or unlock the locking device 18, which in this case consists of the teeth 7, the locking member 8, the spindle 12 and the handle 13.
- FIG. 8 shows a ratchet with a modified handle 19 in a locking position in which the wedge webs 10 engage in the toothing 7.
- the handle 19 has a flattened cross-sectional area with the largest central axis M and the smallest central axis B.
- the handle lies flat, ie. H. with its larger central axis M, in the swivel plane of the wrench, d. H. 8.
- To unlock the handle 19 is rotated, for example, 90 °, the wedge webs 10 being pulled out of the toothing 7. After this, the angle of the hand lever 3 relative to the working head 2 can be changed.
- the handle 19 is pulled again, if it should have been forgotten, it is automatically rotated back out of its upright position into the pivoting plane and the locking position is secured again aslo.
- FIG. 10 illustrates a handle cross section in the form of a rectangle with rounded corners
- FIG. 11 shows a handle 20 with an oval cross section.
