Definitions

  • the invention relates to a muzzle loading mortar according to the preamble of patent claim 1.
  • US-A-3 608 422 relates to an object of the aforementioned type.
  • the front-loading mortar is arranged so deep within the interior of the carrier vehicle that even the loading process takes place below an interior cover. Assuming usual interior dimensions, the known arrangement forces the mortar tube to be unusually short and limits the range of the front-loading mortar.
  • DE-A-1 578 210 discloses a pivotable front-loading mortar installed in a vehicle, the mouth of which projects beyond an interior cover of the carrier vehicle and has a loading device, but the known front-loading mortar is in the interior of the carrier vehicle using a bipod and a ball socket, that is to say field-mounted, and this requires a large opening in the interior cover and thus offers inadequate protection for the vehicle crew.
  • a limited straightening range is available, and a large space requirement proves to be disadvantageous.
  • the invention has for its object to provide an object of the type mentioned, in which a larger straightening range for the muzzle loading mortar can be combined with adequate protection for the crew of the carrier vehicle.
  • the teaching according to claim 2 is directed to the advantageous embodiment of the object according to the invention. While maintaining protection for the vehicle crew, it allows space-saving painting of the muzzle-loading mortar on the outside and a substantial increase in its leveling range.
  • a carrier vehicle 10 with wheels has a floor 14, outer walls 16 and 18 and a cover 22 and 24, as may be considered normal for armored vehicles.
  • An interior 26 is set up for crew and ammunition in a manner not shown.
  • the cover 22 is kinked at 28 and merges from an apron 29 into part 24, which is arranged at the level of an unspecified upper edge of the outer wall 16 in the rear region 11 of the carrier vehicle 10.
  • a bearing opening 32 provided between 24 and 26 has a rotating ring 34 for cooperation with a rotating platform 62.
  • a cradle roller 44 a mortar 36 is mounted in a manner not shown, via shield pins 46.
  • the height and side straightening devices 50 which are each provided with a handwheel that is not specified, are arranged.
  • An articulated ball 58 is provided on the roller cradle 44 as a bearing for a loading manipulator 52, which is designed in the manner of a rocker. It has two arms, only one of which, 60, is shown. They unite at one end to form a double socket (not shown) for the joint ball 58 and carry a projectile receptacle 54 at their other end.
  • the loading manipulator 52 is deflected such that it is inclined with the projectile receptacle 54 in a depression 30 of the cover 24 lies below the apron 29.
  • a only schematically shown loading gear 56 permits a movement of the loading manipulator 52 from the illustrated position in the direction of an arrow L 1 in each of the respective Position of the tube 38 adapted position, in which the axis of the projectile receptacle 54 is aligned with the tube core axis A. This advantageously ensures that the mortar 36 of the cover given in the interior 26 can be operated out of use.
  • the 1-ademanipulator 52 is pivoted in the direction of an arrow L 2 into the position shown for loading.
  • a projectile is inserted from the interior 26 through the loading opening 90 into the projectile receptacle 54 and fixed there by means of a releasable clamping device. Then the loading manipulator 52 is pivoted in the direction of the arrow L 1 until the axis of the projectile receptacle 54 is aligned with the tube core axis A. By releasing the actuation of the clamping device, the projectile is released to fall into the tube 38 of the mortar 36, whereupon the loading manipulator 52 is immediately pivoted again in the direction of the arrow L 2 in order not to impede the projectile leaving the mouth 40 of the tube 38. During the weft development, the tube 38 runs back in the direction of an arrow R.
  • a return prefitting device 64 becomes effective, as is shown in FIG. 3 and will be described further below. It allows a long return path to be taken master so that the forces introduced into the carrier vehicle 10 are kept within realistic limits. In this way, great firepower can be guaranteed in terms of range and harmful effects - both of which are essentially dependent on the tube caliber and the size of the cargo.
  • the embodiment of Figure 2 differs from that described above mainly by the nature of the loading manipulator 53 and thus the loading of the mortar 36.
  • the loading manipulator 53 has a linkage 61 which is arranged on the tube 38 such that a projectile receptacle 55 in the direction of Arrows V and R on it can be moved up and down.
  • a passage opening is provided in the rotating platform 62.
  • the linkage 61 follows each directional movement of the tube 38, its lower end, not specified, always remaining in the interior 26.
  • a floor 88 is releasably fixed in the lower loading position 55 in a lower loading position.
  • the projectile receptacle 55 moves upward in the direction of arrow V and is pivoted over the mouth 40 of the tube 38 so that it is aligned with the tube core axis A.
  • the projectile 88 is released to fall into the tube 38, whereupon the projectile receptacle 55 is immediately pivoted back so as not to impede the projectile 88 emerging from the mouth 40.
  • the return prefitting device 64 is described below with reference to FIG. 3.
  • the latter is designed in the area of the cradle roller 44 as a hydraulic part 64 with a cylinder 70 filled with hydraulic oil.
  • the cylinder 70 is provided with a seal 76 on the upper side and with a seal 78 on the lower side.
  • a jacket 74 placed around the tube 38 has an upper and a lower piston surface on an upper flange 72.
  • a throttle valve, not shown, is arranged in the flange 72.
  • the jacket 74 is delimited by a collar designed as a spring abutment 86 for a compression spring 84.
  • the spring 84 encompasses the tube 38 below the cylinder 70 and belongs to a mechanical part 80 of the return feed hole 64.
  • the mechanical part 80 is provided with a housing 66 which is connected on the top side to the cradle roller 44 and on the underside a lower spring abutment 86 for the spring 84 carries.
  • the return prefetching device 64 is the advantageous transfer of the principle which has been tried and tested in rear-loading barrel weapons, for example cannons, to use with a mortar. Due to the combination of a mechanical part with a hydraulic part, as represented by the parts 80 and 68, the return prefitting device 64 can be used to control large return paths, as in the case of the weapons mentioned, and thus avoid disturbing force peaks occurring on the shield pins. It can be seen from this that the invention opens up large-caliber high-firearms to the mounting on comparatively light carrier vehicles.
  • a support 20 for example in a telescopic design, can be arranged between the carrier vehicle 10 and a floor surface 100. Because of the good damping achieved by the return prefitting device according to the invention, a mounting using the principle of the cardanic suspension can also be realized. The consequent reduction of a conventional tower to a rotating platform, in connection with the good damping, also allows external mounting, whereby there is no need for a base plate for the direct introduction of the recoil forces into the ground.
  • the muzzle-loading mortar according to the invention allows emergency operation by hand without limitation of the firepower, which, anyway limited in time, justifies a short-term and only partial limitation of the protection in some cases. Since in the mortar according to the invention all firings known for front loaders for the upper angle group can be used and these are not considered essential to the invention in the given context, it is not possible to go into this in detail.
