Abstract

A tap attachable to a spout of a container for decanting a liquid such as wine into bottles has a rotary valve housing and a valve body provided with a detachable handle, part of that valve body being a tubular spigot fitting into a transverse bore of the valve housing to fill a bottle aligned with that bore. The spigot, when withdrawn from the bore after removal of the tap from the spout and plugging of the latter, is receivable in an internally threaded plastic cap for forcing it into the neck of a freshly filled bottle; to unseal the bottle, a complementarily threaded extremity of the handle detached from the valve body is screwed into the cap for extracting same.

Description

The present invention relates to a device for withdrawing liquid from a container, and more especially liquid which is intended, after drawing, to be bottled where it is kept after corking thereof.

It is more and more common to market wine and in particular wine for everyday consumption in containers such as carboys, kegs, or other flexible plastic bags housed in a rigid cardboard envelope.

This latter packaging is shown in FIG. 1 of the attached schematic drawing, the bag bearing the reference 2, and the cardboard envelope the reference 3. During the transport period, the pocket is closed by a stopper 4, while for racking wine, a tap is placed 5.

According to another possibility, not shown in the drawing, but described in FR-A-549 886, a tap for a barrel comprises a body comprising a conduit opening on the one hand inside the barrel and on the other hand in a transverse bore. in which is mounted the rotating part of the valve which comprises a conduit which may or may not, depending on its angular position, be placed in communication with the conduit formed in the body of the valve. The rotating part of the valve comprises a central and axial cavity in which a male part secured to a handle is removably engaged, the cavity and the male part being equipped with complementary blocking means allowing the male part to drive the part rotating in at least one direction of rotation.

After bottling the wine, the user must stop the bottles with corks, which are expensive and require the use of a corker.

According to another possibility known by FR-A-2 423 406, the corking of the bottles is carried out by means of plastic caps having a central cavity delimited by a peripheral skirt on the internal face of which protruding parts in relief , of complementary shape to those that a male part which, equipped with a handle, can be engaged in the cavity of the plug. The blocking in rotation and in translation of the cap relative to the male part equipped with a handle, allows with the aid of the latter the extraction of the cap from the neck of the container.

It appears from the above that the bottling of wine requires, in addition to the container and its stopper, the use of several elements such as a tap, a corker, as well as a corkscrew for the removal of cork stoppers, which are not recoverable.

The present invention aims to remedy these drawbacks:
  • To this end, in the device which it relates to of the type described in FR-A-549 886, that is to say comprising a body 6 intended to be fixed, with sealing, on the neck 7 of the container 2 to empty, and in which is arranged a cylindrical plug 10 comprising a radial opening for communication with the container and serving as a housing for a rotary cylindrical shutter 13, comprising an axial passage communicating with a radial opening 16 capable of being placed in communication with the opening 12 of the plug opening into the container, said rotary shutter 13 comprising a central and axial cavity in which is engaged in a removable manner a male part 20 secured to a handle, said central cavity and said male part 20 being equipped with means complementary blocking 19, 22; 32, 33; 38 39 allowing the male part to drive the shutter rotating in at least one direction of rotation, the peripheral surface of the male part 20 has a relief 22 which is complementary to a relief produced on the internal face of the skirt plastic plugs and serving as anchoring means for the extraction of said plugs from a bottle neck.

This device has the advantage of being made from a reduced number of simple parts, and of having a versatile character. Indeed, in addition to the tap function, it has, taking into account the structure of the rotary shutter, the function of corkscrew or more exactly of extracting the aforementioned corks out of the neck of the bottles before the use of the liquid, by cooperation of the part of the tap comprising the handle with said plug.

Advantageously, the part of the valve forming a shutter comprises two successive tubular zones, one of which housed inside the plug and having an axial opening and a radial opening, has an outside diameter less than the inside diameter of the plugs, and of which that intended for the hooking the handle has an inside diameter slightly greater than the inside diameter of the plugs.

This last characteristic is interesting because, after removing the shutter rotating out of the plug, while retaining the connection with the handle, the tubular part of smaller section can be used to make the corking of the bottles. Indeed, this tubular part acting in the manner of a pusher comes to bear pressure on the bottom of the plug to be put in place, to deform it in a direction of reduction of its section allowing its introduction into the neck of the corking bottle, the release of this pressure resulting in the resumption by the cap of its initial section ensuring a pressure with sealing of the external face of the latter against the neck.

This characteristic therefore gives a complementary function to the tap, namely that of a mouthpiece.

Advantageously, the connecting means between the shutter and the handle are shaped so as to ensure that these two elements are prevented from rotating in the two possible directions of rotation.

This arrangement therefore makes it possible both to open the valve and to close it by rotation in the two possible directions of rotation. This facilitates the task of the user by avoiding any false operation.

  • figure 2 est une vue en perspective en position éclatée d'un premier dispositif;

In any case, the invention will be clearly understood with the aid of the description which follows, with reference to the appended schematic drawing representing, by way of non-limiting examples, several embodiments of this device:
  • Figure 2 is a perspective view in exploded position of a first device;
  • Figure 3 is a sectional view of this device in the mounted position on a container, during the racking period;

The device shown in Figure 2 is intended to be associated with a container consisting of a plastic bag 2 housed in a cardboard envelope 3. This device comprises a body 6 of generally cylindrical shape intended to be engaged, with sealing, in the neck 7 of the container 2, where it is blocked by cooperation of a groove 8 which it has with a peripheral ring 9 projecting from said neck.

The body 6 of the device comprises a plug 10 having a radial opening 12 for communicating with the interior of the container. Inside the plug 10 is mounted a rotary shutter 13. The rotary shutter comprises two successive tubular parts, the lower one 14 of which is engaged in the plug 10 and comprises, on the one hand, an axial opening 15 and; on the other hand, a radial opening 16, and of which the upper one 17, separated from the lower part by a web of material 18, has a series of helical ribs 19 of the same inclination forming tappings.

In the upper tubular part 17 is engaged a cylindrical rod 20 having, in its lower part, ribs 22 arranged in several circular helices of the same inclination, complementary to the ribs 19 of the rotating element 13.

The upper part of the rod 20 comprises a cross member 23 forming a handle.

From a practical point of view, the device forming the tap is maneuvered by action on the handle 23 in a clockwise direction, the cooperation of the ribs 19 and 22 ensuring a rotation lock.
FIG. 4 represents an alternative embodiment of this device in which the body comprises two concentric skirts, respectively 24 and 25, intended to come into pressure, respectively, on the internal face and on the external face of the neck of the container from which the liquid must be drawn off.

The liquid withdrawn from the container is advantageously packaged in the position shown in FIG. 3, in bottles of which only the neck 26 is shown. These bottles are closed by plastic caps 27. Each hollow cap has a cylindrical skirt 28 limited at its lower part by a bottom 29 and at its upper part by a peripheral flange 30. The cap has, between the peripheral skirt 28 and the bottom 29, a peripheral bulge 32. From the internal face of the skirt 28 project helical ribs 33 identical to that 19 projecting from the rotating element.

Le diamètre intérieur des bouchons est au repos très légèrement supérieur au diamètre intérieur de la partie tubulaire 19 de l'obturateur 13.The internal diameter of the plugs is at rest very slightly greater than the internal diameter of the tubular part 19 of the shutter 13.

Therefore, the device as shown in Figures 2 to 4 can fulfill other functions than that of the valve, defined below.

After removing the rotary element 13 and the upper part comprising the handle 23 from the body 6, the lower end 14 of the rotary shutter 13 can be used as a rod making it possible, as shown in FIG. 6, pressing with pressure on the bottom 29 of a stopper 27 to be put in place, ensuring an elongation of this stopper corresponding to a reduction in the diameter of the latter allowing its introduction into the neck of a bottle, until the collar 30 is supported on the upper edge of the neck.

After removing the device from the cap, it relaxes and comes to bear, with sealing, on the internal face of the neck.

After removal of the upper part 20, 23 from the rotary shutter 13, it can be used as a corkscrew. For this purpose, it suffices, as shown in FIG. 7, to screw the lower part comprising helical ribs 22 into the plug, then to exert a traction while maintaining this rotation, which allows the extraction of the plug as shown in Figure 8, due to the securing in translation of the two elements considered.

As shown in Figure 8, the plug is not damaged during its removal, which allows its reuse.

It is extremely interesting to note that the arrangement according to the invention makes it possible to limit the number of parts necessary for the withdrawal of liquid from a container with a view to its bottling, for the corking of the bottles and for the uncorking of these. This limitation of the number of parts combined with their simplicity makes it possible to lower the overall cost of the parts required, the investment being further minimized because the plugs are reusable.

The extreme ease of implementation is also to be emphasized since it considerably simplifies the task of the user.

In the embodiment shown in Figure 9, the cavity formed in the tubular part 17 has a rod 32 of polygonal section, projecting from its bottom, this rod 32 being intended to be engaged inside a recess 33 of complementary shape opening into the end of the male part 20. The cooperation between the rod of polygonal section 32 and the recess 33 ensures excellent locking in rotation of the handle relative to the shutter.

In addition, the male part 20 presents between the part ribbed 22 and its upper part smoothes a peripheral rib 34 which, in the engaged position of the handle in the shutter, is intended to penetrate into a groove 35 opening into the internal face of the shutter. The cooperation between the rib 34 of the handle and the groove 35 of the shutter ensures a locking in translation of these two elements, preventing their accidental separation by axial displacement.

It is therefore possible to draw liquid out of the container fitted with this tap, by pivoting the shutter by action on the handle in one or the other direction of rotation. Depending on whether the container to be filled will be of large volume or not, it will be possible to choose a position of the shutter such that the racking is done through the opening 16a of large section, or through the opening 16b of small section.

La figure 11 représente une variante d'execution de ce dispositif dans laquelle le blocage en rotation entre l'obturateur et le robinet est réalisé par ménagement d'une partie de section polygonale 36 à proximité de l'extrémité supérieure de l'obturateur, dans laquelle est engagée une partie polygonale 37 située entre la zone nervurée 22 et la zone lisse de la partie mâle 20 de la poignée.FIG. 11 shows an alternative embodiment of this device in which the blocking in rotation between the shutter and the tap is achieved by providing a part of polygonal section 36 near the upper end of the shutter, in which is engaged a polygonal part 37 located between the ribbed zone 22 and the smooth zone of the male part 20 of the handle.

It should be noted that, in this embodiment, there is no provision for axial locking of the handle relative to the shutter as in the previous case.

Il est à noter que les rainures 39 ne sont pas ménagées en creux, mais constituent une simple interruption des nervures 22.FIG. 12 shows a second alternative embodiment, comprising an axial locking of the handle relative to the shutter, as described above, and in which the locking in rotation is produced by the provision of ribs 38 projecting from the internal face of the tubular part 17 of the shutter, and of longitudinal grooves 39, formed in the male part 20 of the handle. It should be noted that the grooves 39 are not recessed, but constitute a simple interruption of the ribs 22.

In the embodiments shown in FIGS. 9 to 12, the shutter 13 has two radial orifices 16a and 16b of different sections, used alternately if the desired withdrawal rate is high for the orifice 16a, and if the desired rate is low for hole 16b.
