Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for packaging food under protective gas in a plastic cup with a flexible lid.
- Such methods are carried out in cycles and include the work steps of product filling, protective gas purging, lid placement and lid welding.
- the inert gas purging is carried out in such a way that the inert gas, for example nitrogen, carbon dioxide or argon, is blown into the cup filled with product from above via one or more gas nozzles. It can be seen immediately that with this procedure large specific amounts of protective gas are required in order to fill the head space of the cup with protective gas.
- the cup filled with product usually has a head space of 50 to 100 ml, which is designed as a flat disc with a maximum height of 10 mm. Adequate gas exchange in this open head space is only possible when flushing with bulk gas quantities that are a multiple of the head space volume.
- the invention is therefore based on the object of providing a method for packaging food under protective gas in a plastic cup, which is distinguished by a low specific protective gas consumption and prevents the penetration of atmospheric oxygen into the head space of the cup flushed with protective gas.
- a procedure in which the lid tear-off tab slides over a wedge has proven itself well.
- the protective gas is preferably supplied through a hole in the thick wedge end.
- Another procedure for lifting the lid which has proven itself in practice, is that the lid is raised by means of the gas nozzle for blowing in the protective gas.
- the gas nozzle is raised in the vertical direction and lowered again. This procedure is also preferably carried out so that the gas nozzle lifts the lid on the lid tear-off tab.
- Fig.1 shows the links 1-7 of a conveyor belt with which the plastic cups 9-13 are cyclically transported to the individual work stations.
- the direction of conveyance is indicated by arrows 8.
- the dosing device 14 for the product 15 to be filled is located above the plastic cup 12.
- a work station further above is the lid storage container 16 above the plastic cup 11.
- purging takes place with protective gas, which is supplied through the gas nozzle 18.
- the lid 19 located on the plastic cup 10 is shown by a broken line.
- the lid 19 is slightly raised from the edge of the plastic cup 10, on one side by the gas nozzle 18 and on the other side by the escaping gas 20.
- the lid 19 is held by two hold-down devices, not shown in FIG Plastic cup 10 fixed.
- the last work station finally shows the plastic cup 9 with the lid 22, which is welded onto the edge of the plastic cup 9 with the aid of the welding head 21.
- the covers 17, 19 and 22 are preferably made of aluminum. Plastic lids can also be used.
- FIG. 2 and 3 show the rinsing of the head space of the cup 10 from FIG. 1 according to the invention on an enlarged scale.
- the lid 19 is raised somewhat by an upward movement of the gas nozzle 18. This is preferably done at the tear-open tab 23.
- the protective gas is then blown in, which is indicated by the arrows 24.
- the gas 20 escaping from the head space of the cup 10, ie air, mixed with protective gas, also lifts the lid 19 on the opposite side. After sufficient protective gas has been blown in, the gas nozzle 18 is lowered and moved to the side so that the plastic cup 10 can be conveyed to the next work station in the next work cycle.
- the movement of the gas nozzle 18 in the vertical direction is represented by arrows 25, the lateral movement of the gas nozzle 18 by an arrow 26.
- the lateral movement of the gas nozzle 18 is superfluous when the protective gas is blown in from the side of the conveyor belt, ie 90 ° offset from the arrangement shown.
- two hold-downs 27 are used, the movement of which is indicated in the vertical direction by the arrows 28.
- FIGS. 4 and 5 show another embodiment of the invention.
- On the links 29, 30 u. 31 of a conveyor belt are the plastic cups 33, 34 u. 35.
- the direction of conveyance of the conveyor belt is indicated by arrows 32.
- the aluminum covers 36, 37 and 38 are located on the plastic cups 33 - 35.
- the middle work station, in which the plastic cup 34 is located shows the lifting of the lid 37 and purging with protective gas according to the invention.
- a fixed wedge 39 is used to lift the cover 37 and, when the plastic cup 34 is moved forward in the conveying direction, is pushed under the tear tab 40 of the cover 37 and pushes it according to its thickness.
- the shielding gas 42 is blown in through a bore with feed pipe 41 in the thick end of the wedge 39.
- the method according to the invention practically excludes that after purging with protective gas, oxygen from the environment again reaches the head space of the plastic cups. This is also achieved with a small amount of protective gas that was previously not considered possible. In practical operation it has been shown that the protective gas consumption per beaker is less than three times the head space volume.

Abstract
Description
- Fig.5 eine Draufsicht auf Fig.4.
