Definitions
- the invention relates to a winding contact with a winding post, which is fastened in a contact sleeve carrying a contact piece made of spring plate for centered and rotationally fixed holding of the winding contact in a cylindrical contact hole of a contact housing made of electrically insulating plastic.
- Winding contacts In the case of electrical plug-in connections with winding contacts, in which the wire connection is carried out as a solderless connection in the so-called winding or wire-wrap technique, the torque which occurs during winding on the winding or wire-wrap post must be absorbed by the contact, which is why must not turn in the contact hole of the contact housing. Winding contacts must therefore be equipped with rotation locks.
- a structurally simple rotation lock is obtained if the contact hole is made out of round in an axial region and the contact is designed accordingly.
- Such a wire wrap connector is such. B. described in DE-A-2616621 or in US-A-3 288 915.
- Such an anti-rotation device requires that the appropriate contacts are provided for each contact housing and is contrary to the universality of the connector housing which is desired for economic reasons, because the usually round contacts cannot then be used.
- Additional parts in a wide variety of designs are often used for securing contacts against rotation, as is described, for example, in DE-C-2 350 775, US-A-4 090 771 and FR-A-2263615.
- the separate anchoring part is often attached to the contact or placed over the winding post and can consist of a plate or a pin.
- Two-part, non-rotating contacts are complex and uneconomical to manufacture and their handling is also cumbersome, whereby there is often greater wear on contact housings, since when replacing contacts the contact hole walls are slightly damaged or, as is the case with multiple plugs, with a large number of closely spaced one another arranged contacts, can even be destroyed.
- One-piece, non-rotating contacts are also commercially available, in which the essentially sleeve-shaped, resilient anti-rotation device is made from the same piece of material as the contact body.
- Known designs of such one-part rotationally secured contacts have proven unsatisfactory, however, because, above all because of the resilient suspension of the resilient rotation lock and the fact that stronger torques and radial forces acting on the contact hole in a contact hole lead to changes in diameter in the rotation lock and / or lead to a reduction in the penetration depth of the claw elements in the contact hole wall, only relatively weak torques may be applied for the manufacture of the winding connection, in order to exclude with certainty a loosening of the rotation lock during winding, and thus with a more frequent occurrence of defective and fault-prone electrical connections between the wire and the contact piece.
- the winding contact should be such that when it is removed from the contact hole of a contact housing, the contact hole wall is not destroyed or damaged to such an extent that it no longer meets the electrical requirements, in particular with regard to the insulation thickness, and finally the winding contact should also be able to be mass-produced economically.
- the advantages achieved by the invention are, in particular, that a satisfactory rotation of the winding contact is guaranteed solely by a special design of a relatively narrow section of the contact sleeve at the end remote from the contact piece, the winding post merely requiring that it be mechanically fixed to it Anti-rotation zone is connected, but for the rest of the winding post and for the formation of the contact piece, be it as a socket or pin, all possibilities are left open.
- the clawing of the anti-rotation zone at two opposite points in the contact hole ensures the desired mobility of the contact piece in the contact hole and torques and radial forces tend not in the centering section of the anti-rotation zone to reduce the diameter but to enlarge the diameter, which ensures a firm fit of the contact sleeve in the contact hole and thus one good centering of contact piece and winding post ensures.
- the penetration depth of the claws in the contact hole wall which is in any case limited to a predetermined maximum value, makes the winding contact according to the invention usable for contact housings made of any plastic, so that the contact housing can in particular also consist of a soft plastic, such as a thermoplastic.
- the winding contact shown in FIG. 1, a so-called wire-wrap contact, has a contact sleeve 1, which is rolled from a spring sheet blank 1 '(FIG. 5) in a tube-like manner and has a plug socket or a plug pin as contact piece 2 at one end carries, from which and through the contact sleeve 1 extends through a coaxial winding post 3.
- the existing for the winding connection (wire-wrap connection) winding post 3 can be rectangular cross-section (Fig. 1) of z. B. 0.8 mm x 1.6 mm or square cross-section (Fig.2, Fig.3) of z. B. 1 mm x 1 mm.
- Contact sleeve 1, contact piece 2 and winding post 3 consist of conventional materials for such electrical plug connections, the contact sleeve, for example, of sheet bronze.
- the winding contact is in a cylindrical contact hole 5 of an electrically insulating housing 4 (Fig. 2, Fig. 3) made of plastic, for. B.
- the contact sleeve 1 has essentially three zones, the contact piece support zone 10, the winding post support zone 20 and the anti-rotation zone 30, which are separated from one another by radial cuts leaving connecting webs 8, 9, wherein the connecting webs 8, 9 lie one behind the other in the longitudinal direction of the sleeve 1 and each connecting web 8 or 9 extends over approximately 75 ° of the sleeve circumference.
- the contact sleeve 1 is designed as a substantially cylindrical ring 11 which is stepped in order to form a shoulder 12 which projects in the direction of the contact piece 2, the smaller outer diameter of the stepped ring 11 being not smaller than the diameter of the contact piece 2.
- the contact piece support zone 10 is located in a corresponding hole constriction, against which, as is customary with plug connections, the shoulder 12 abuts in order to prevent the winding contact from being pulled out when the plug connection is released, but this is in the radial direction allows a certain freedom of movement for the contact piece support zone 10 of the contact sleeve 1 in order to facilitate the plugging together of the plug connection.
- the contact sleeve 1 is indented between the two connecting webs 8 and 9 and forms a bearing block 21 with a flat bearing surface 22 (FIG. 4) for the winding post 3, which lies so far inside the sleeve that the placed winding post 3 coaxially with the stepped ring 11 of the contact piece carrier zone 10 and the contact piece 2 itself.
- 22 transverse grooves 23 are expediently provided in the support surface, into which protrusions of the winding post 3 snap in order to better secure the winding post 3 against longitudinal displacement.
- the winding post 3 is fastened on the support surface 22 such that torques acting on it are transmitted to the contact sleeve 1.
- tabs 24a, 24b projecting laterally on the bearing block 21 are provided, which are bent around the placed winding post 3 and hold this firmly pressed against the bearing block 21 of the contact sleeve 1 in a crimp or crimp connection.
- the contact sleeve 1 has in the upper half of the sleeve relative to the connecting web 9 at the sleeve end a claw section 41 and an inwardly adjoining centering section 40, which are separated from one another by an incision 31 and the lower half of the anti-rotation zone 30 connected with the connecting web 9 as have common base 32.
- the centering section 40 is formed by two lateral centering tabs 35a, 35b starting from the base part 32, which are bent together and abut against one another at the longitudinal joint 37 in order to form, together with the base part 32 of the anti-rotation zone 30, a ring which surrounds the winding post 3 at a distance and which fits into one Contact hole 5 (Fig.
- the contact sleeve 1 has approximately the shape of an indented oval or an open figure 8 in cross section, as shown in FIG. 3.
- the base part 32 has a flat bottom 33 which merges into the connecting web 9 and the two lateral, wavy indentations 34a, 34b are partly in the base part 32 and partly in the two centering tabs 35a, 35b, the free ends 36a, 36b of which abut on the longitudinal joint 37.
- the centering section 40 of the anti-rotation zone 30 has the task of compensating tolerances of the contact hole 5 in the housing 4 and of keeping the winding contact used centered in the contact hole 5, the indentations 34a, 34b acting as spring elements and keeping the longitudinal joint 37 closed.
- the centering section 40 is preferably conical in the region of the longitudinal joint 37, as shown at 38 in FIG. 4.
- the claw section 41 of the anti-rotation zone 30 comprises two claw arms 42a, 42b which project upwards from the base part 32 and which are separated by the incisions 31a, 31b from the centering tabs 35a, 35b and are shorter than these.
- the claw arms 42a, 42b are directed upward and obliquely outwards from the bottom 33 of the base part 32 from the deepest points of the indentations 34a, 34b (FIG. 2) and have sharp edges on the narrow sides 43a, 43b.
- the outer corner remote from the centering section 40 serves as the claw 44a or 44b
- the claw arms 42a, 42b also being rotated such that the claws 44a, 44b protrude beyond the outer circumference of the centering section 40, which
- the centering section 40 When the winding contact is inserted into a contact hole, the centering section 40 is compressed in the anti-rotation zone 30 by the conical surface 38 (FIG. 4) sliding on the hole edge, so that, as can be seen in the cross section of FIG. 3, the longitudinal joint 37 is closed and by the tension of the indentations 34a, 34b acting as spring elements, the centering section 40 on the two narrow sides, i. H. in the area on both sides of the longitudinal joint 37 and in the area of the bottom 33 of the base part 32 is pressed firmly against the hole wall 6 of the contact hole 5, and furthermore the claws 44a and 44b projecting laterally over the circumference of the centering section 40, as shown in FIG.
- the contact sleeve 1 anchored at two points by the two claws 44a, 44b of the claw section 41 in the contact hole 6 ensures a tight fit of the winding contact in the contact hole 6, the winding post 3 being centered in the contact hole 6 and the longitudinal joint 37 of the centering section 40 also remaining closed , if the contact sleeve 1 is moved laterally in the radial direction in the area of the contact piece support zone 10 (FIG. 1) when making or releasing a plug connection, since such small lateral movements are practical when the anti-rotation zone 30 is removed from the contact piece support zone 10 have no influence on the centering section 40 and the claw in the claw zone 41.
- the claws 44a, 44b cannot be pressed into the hole wall 6 beyond this maximum penetration depth, and thus even with frequent use of a winding contact in the contact hole 5, only a slight injury to the contact hole wall 6 is ensured.
- FIG. 5 shows a preferred spring plate blank 1 'for the manufacture of the contact sleeve 1 described above.
- the blank 1' which is symmetrical with respect to a center line 14, has a strip-shaped central region 15 in the width of the bearing block 21 in the region of the three zones 10, 20, 30 on, on both longitudinal sides at one end tabs 11 ', 11 "to form the stepped ring 11 (FIG.
- the claw arms 42a and 42b are so z.
- a first bending step in the flat spring sheet blank 1 '. B. bent down that the claws 44a, 44b forming the lower corners distant from the incisions 31a, 31b (FIG. 5) protrude beyond the underside of the blank, but the corners close to the incisions 31a, 31b on the cut surfaces remain.
- a second bending step FIG. 6b
- the centering tabs 35a and 35b are arched and in a third bending step (FIG.
