Definitions

  • the invention relates to a stand-alone shop such as a newsstand, especially those installed on city sidewalks for the sale of periodicals and daily newspapers.
  • the kiosks used until then in urban cities for the sale of newspapers generally consist of a fixed edifice of square or rectangular shape whose front face is opening and includes a counter while the lateral sides are most often extended by windbreakers or flexible walls, in plastic or canvas, intended to shelter as much as possible the articles displayed for sale.
  • These kiosks are therefore, due to their design, unsightly and often break with the harmony of the buildings which surround them, their flexible walls having an annoying propensity to detach and to beat in the wind, thus staining the newspapers piled up pell-mell to outside.
  • the very form of these kiosks is incompatible with good exposure and good scheduling of articles, which puts off the buyer who does not have before him a full and panoramic range of newspapers and periodicals.
  • the object of the invention is to remedy these various drawbacks and to this end concerns a stand-alone shop which can be used in particular as a newsstand, although this application is not limiting, this shop having the particularity of being of a form and of a design allowing an excellent presentation of the products, while fitting perfectly, on the esthetic level, in the contemporary urban furniture used today in the big cities, the surface on the ground of the cell constituting this shop can be increased, but in a rational and identical way for all the cells, which makes it possible to put an end to the disparity denounced above.
  • the invention therefore relates to an independent shop for the exhibition and sale of products such as a newsstand, characterized in that it consists of a cell of horizontal trapezoidal section, the small base of which forms the bottom wall and the large base, the opening front facade, this cell consisting of a supporting structure formed by at least four main pillars located at the four corners of the trapezoid, joined together by crosspieces and by a frame, these pillars serving as a support for fixing product display boxes.
  • the exposure boxes consist of trapezoidal modules whose small base faces outwards.
  • the independent shop in accordance with the invention is in the form of a small building that can be installed on the sidewalks of urban cities, for the exhibition and sale of all items, in particular for the newspaper trade.
  • the building in question is in the form of a trapezoidal construction, defined by a bottom wall 1 (constituting the small base of the trapezoid), two side walls 2 and 3 divergent from the bottom 1 and finally a front wall 4 (constituting the large base of the trapezoid) this wall corresponding to the front facade of the shop.
  • the bottom wall 1 is the two side walls 2 and 3 each consist of a box forming a trapezoidal cross section module, these three boxes 5 being assembled by two corner pillars 6 of hexagonal cross section.
  • the front panel 4 is made in turn from two hinged doors, each consisting of two modules 7 and 8 of trapezoidal section, joined together by a vertical hinge pin 9, each of the two doors itself being hinged on an axis 10 carried by a corner pillar 11 which, like the pillars 6, is of hexagonal section.
  • each door can be brought either to the closed position, illustrated in phantom in Figure 2, in 7 1 , 8 1 , or even to occupy the middle position, illustrated in this same Figure 2 in 7 and 8, or finally be folded back into the position illustrated in 7 2 , 8 2 , the two modules constituting a door then being folded over one another, base against base.
  • the supporting framework of this shop is made up of welded tubular elements forming both the vertical uprights used to support the boxes and the framework intended to support the roof elements 13 (Figure 4).
  • Each box 5, 7 or 8 thus consists of two tubular sections 14 ( Figures 2 and 4) joined together at their lower and upper parts by cross members 15, also tubular, while the four corner pillars 6 and 11, which define the trapezoidal cell of the shop, are made up of six tubular profiles 16 ( Figure 2) arranged at each of their angles, these being connected ( Figure 4) by welded tubular crosspieces 17 and 18.
  • the different boxes 5, 7 and 8 are formed ( Figure 2) of a flat wall 19 bordered by inclined side walls 20, these walls 19, 20 being made from a transparent material, cut and glued edge to edge and supported by the tubular framework, this material can be safety glass or plastic panels.
  • the three outer faces 21 of the corner pillars 6 and 11 ( Figure 2) are also made from a transparent material, cut and glued, these corner pillars having a bottom wall 22 serving as a display surface.
  • the interior volume 23 remaining in each corner pillar 6, defines a box which can serve as a cloakroom for the attendant at the shop, or even form a housing for the electrical equipment 24 of the installation.
  • the two corner pillars 11 bordering the front facade 4 of the shop also have transparent outer faces 21, each pillar containing a prism 25 movable in rotation on a vertical axis by an electric motor 26.
  • This prism which in the example considered is of triangular section, again serves as a display surface, and is judiciously lit by members such as neon tubes 27, included in the support structure, in particular in the external corner profiles 16, these profiles comprising at minus an axial slit 28, directed in the direction of the prism 25 so as to channel the illumination on the faces of this prism which makes it possible to concentrate the light and thus to obtain a beam of high efficiency.
  • the three boxes 5 forming the bottom and the two side walls of the trapezoidal cell are also lit from the inside ( Figure 2) by standard tubes 29 located behind the bottom wall of said boxes which serves as a support for the display, that this being purposely made of a translucent material, for example glass or frosted plastic, so as to illuminate the posters fixed on this wall 30 by transparency.
  • the boxes 5 comprise ( Figure 4) two superimposed compartments 5 1 -5 2 , each of these being accessible from the outside thanks to the fact that the walls 19 and 20 referenced in Figure 2, form a hinged cover on a transverse axis parallel to the crosspieces 15, each of the two compartments being equipped with an independent lock (not shown).
  • Compartment 5 2 serves as a supply store which allows the attendant to come, after the shop is closed, place in this compartment the stock of newspapers or magazines for sale, and to pick up the unsold items that the seller has left at her available in this compartment when the shop is closed.
  • the frame of the shop consists of a master beam 29, joining the two corner pillars 11 bordering the front face 4 of the shop, this beam being connected to the other two corner pillars 6 by two secondary beams 30, leaving from the center of the main beam and joining said corner pillars 6.
  • These two beams 29 and 30 are made of welded tubular elements, formed of longitudinal members 31 and cross members 32, triangulated by tubular reinforcements 33, the main beam 29 being extended forward by parallel profiles 34 forming an advanced part which will serve as a support for a visor 35, as visible in Figures 3 and 4.
  • This tubular frame serves as a support for the attachment of other tubular profiles 36 ( Figure 1) dividing the roof into a series of triangular zones, of different geometry, giving the roof a particularly original and aesthetic appearance.
  • the panels 38 ( Figure 4) which seal the upper part of the cell and which are carried by the beams 29 and 30 referenced in Figure 3, are in turn located under the profiles 36, the latter having in fact only one purely aesthetic role.
  • the visor 35 ( Figure 4) can be articulated on a transverse axis 39 to be brought either in the position illustrated in solid lines, or in the raised position 40 illustrated in dashed lines, the visor occupying the position illustrated in solid lines when the shop is open, and the second position when the shop is closed. It is obvious that the face 41 of this visor can also serve as a display surface, or sign and be lit from the inside, if necessary, since this surface will preferably be used at night.
  • the shop counter is made up of two or three parts 42, 43 ( Figure 2) at least one of which is movable on a hinge pin 44 so that it can be pivoted outwards in the position illustrated in 43 1 , to allow the attendant to be able to enter the interior of the shop.
  • the boxes 5 are accessible from inside the shop, by the set of hinged doors not shown, and each box can obviously be fitted with newspaper trays 45 ( Figure 2).
  • the counter is made in two parts, preceded by a display surface 47 allowing a better presentation of the products.
  • the boxes 5, 7 and 8 are, on this subject, provided with inclined consoles 48 on which are backed the articles displayed for sale, the inner face of the boxes 5 being provided with rows of consoles 48 for the exhibition tion of articles, while the outer face of these same boxes serves only, as illustrated in Figure 4, in the same way as the corner pillars, display surface.
  • the boxes 5, as well as those 7 and 8 forming the hinged doors, have a trapezoidal section not only in the transverse direction but also in the longitudinal direction, so that the walls 19 are bordered at their lower and upper parts by inclined walls 49, 50, the lower wall 49 having the great advantage of moving the base of the boxes away from the feet of the users, thus avoiding glass breakage.
  • This characteristic is found at the level of the corner pillars which, too ( Figure 4) have lower and upper walls 51, inclined, these walls connecting their respective crosspieces 17 and 18.
  • the entire framework is produced from welded tubular profiles, the junction points of the various profiles constituting the uprights, the crosspieces or the roofing profiles being in the form of spheres 52 ( Figure 4) which again gives the building a particularly original appearance.
  • the tubular profiles as well as the spherical nodes 52 can advantageously be used for the reception of the lighting members or for the passage of the electrical conductors, which consequently avoids damaging the desired harmony. .
  • the present shop is thus of a particularly aesthetic design, but also and above all an excellent exhibition of the products for sale, on the one hand, because of its trapezoidal shape, which widens the field of vision, and shelves with consoles inclined allowing a scheduled display of products, the exposure volume of the cell can be increased by the deployment of doors without, again, breaking with the general configuration of the building.
