Definitions

  • the invention relates to an offset printing machine with a dampening unit and an inking unit, through which dampening liquid or ink can be supplied to the printing plate of a plate cylinder by means of rollers rolling on one another, the metering of the supply being meterable by changing the roller supply.
  • Dosing devices of this type are known from DE-C-1 055 011 and DE-B-1 268 154 and are particularly suitable for the zone-wise regulation of the liquid supply in the roll axis direction.
  • the interruption of the supply of dampening fluid and ink to the printing plate does not solve this problem because, on the one hand, the printing plate dries after a short time due to evaporation, which also causes difficulties when the printing process is restarted, and on the other hand, after the contact between the dampening and inking unit and the printing plate has been released, that is Parking the application rollers - the conditions in the dampening unit and especially the inking unit are changed.
  • the inking unit the difference in layer thickness that occurs during continuous printing from roller to roller is disturbed: a build-up occurs on the application rollers, which causes the printing plate to over-color when the application rollers are reset.
  • the invention has for its object to mitigate or eliminate the disturbances caused by short-term machine stoppers in the ink and dampening liquid supply.
  • a clutch already known from DE-C-2 456 985, is provided in the inking unit drive, the actuation of which disables the rotation of the inking rollers, while at the same time the inking rollers are switched off by the plate cylinder.
  • the measures which are fundamentally different with regard to the dampening unit and inking unit, ensure that at the time of restarting the print, that is to say at the start of reprinting, further printing conditions are present with regard to the dampening unit and also with regard to the inking unit. This ensures for the first time that continued printing after stoppers is possible without any waste specification, which results in a significant increase in the effective printing performance and a reduction in the reject rate.
  • the squeegee device has proven to be particularly advantageous to design the squeegee device as an air knife with an air supply that can be switched on and off. It has been shown here that in the dampening unit and on the printing plate, quasi-continuous printing conditions can also be obtained even during longer stoppers, which can be adjusted by controlling or regulating, for example, the ductor's external conditions, such as room climate, etc.
  • the ink is fed to the plate cylinder 7 through a roller inking unit 8.
  • the dampening fluid required for the offset process is fed to the plate cylinder 7, or the lithographic printing plate fastened thereon, but not shown, by a conventional roller dampening unit 9.
  • This consists of four rollers, an applicator roller 30, a transfer roller 44, a metering roller 33, and a ductor roller 46 driven by a motor 45.
  • the ink applied to the plate cylinder 7 is applied to the printing sheets with the interposition of a transfer cylinder (rubber cylinder 10).
  • the inking unit 8 consists of a larger number of rollers, not all of which are shown. These are driven by the plate cylinder 7 via a pair of bevel gears 11, 12, a shaft 13 and a further pair of bevel gears 14, 15, the drive being fed to the ink drum 16. From there, the individual rollers, in particular the distributor roller 17, 18, are driven by spur gear wheels.
  • the application rollers 40, 41, 42, 43, however, are not positive, but driven by circumferential friction.
  • the drive shaft 13 is assigned a clutch 21 which can be actuated by a magnet 22.
  • the magnet 22 is triggered by a limit switch 23 by actuating a contactor 24.
  • the rubber cylinder 10 is mounted in a known manner in an eccentrically drilled bearing bush 25, of which only one coupling member 26 is shown, rotated so that the rubber cylinder can be adjusted in its position relative to the plate cylinder.
  • the above-mentioned limit switch 23 then comes into contact with a shoulder 27 provided on the bushing 25 and thus switches the clutch 21 when the rubber cylinder 10 is switched off from the plate cylinder 7 (position shown in FIG. 2 shown).
  • the drive for the inking unit 8 is thus interrupted and the ink layer thicknesses present at the time of the printing shutdown on the individual rollers of the inking unit remain, i.e. there is no increase in the layer thickness on the application rollers, so that when the printing is resumed, the correct amount of ink is immediately available.
  • a qualitatively satisfactory print is only possible, however, if the printing plate can be dampened in the same way in a well-dosed manner at the start of printing. This is achieved in that when the pressure is interrupted, the dampening rollers 30 remain in contact with the plate cylinder 7.
  • An over-moistening of the pressure plate is prevented by activating a solenoid valve 31, by means of which the air supply for an air doctor blade 32 is opened, when the pressure is switched off, ie also when and by actuating the limit switch 23.
  • the air doctor blade 32 consists of a tube which extends along the roller 33 and is provided with openings. The openings can be changed in size by means of a rotary slide handle 35. This is done by hand, but remote control is also possible by arranging appropriate remote-controlled actuators.
  • rollers within the inking unit are grouped into several groups, the mutual contact of which is interrupted coupled with the printing cut-off.
