Definitions
- the invention relates to a support element for medical storage purposes with a filling of a mixture of soft, resilient foam bodies and solid plastic beads.
- Filling cushions are known from DE-U-1 889 521, the inlay of the cushion material receiving them is divided into individual sections, so-called pipes, these pipes being filled with the actual filling material at a pressure of about 4 to 5 bar.
- the filling material consists of foam beads, preferably polystyrene beads of an average size of 3 mm in diameter, to which either fibers of wool or polyamide or the like or foam flakes can be added, which should consist of polystyrene or polyurethane.
- foam beads preferably polystyrene beads of an average size of 3 mm in diameter, to which either fibers of wool or polyamide or the like or foam flakes can be added, which should consist of polystyrene or polyurethane.
- a tightly filled, pillow-like body is achieved, which is characterized by a remarkable heat storage and a uniform heat retention and u. a. also for rheumatism, intervertebral disc damage, hemorrhoidal diseases and the like.
- the upholstered furniture industry has used upholstered cushions made of flakes mixed with pearls for a short period of time.
- the pearls should prevent the known clumping and grinding effect of the flakes.
- there is a separation between flakes and pearls after a certain time so that clumps could not be prevented.
- Due to the destroyed pores, the flake grinds sometimes becomes abrasion and thereby reduces the filling power, which leads to a reduction in the filling volume. This also deteriorates the mobility and thus the formability and also the air circulation.
- the fibers listed tend to have “knotting effects”. They can often no longer be resolved and therefore cannot be modeled fluently.
- a disadvantage of these pillows is that they are relatively hard and therefore prolonged use, especially in the elderly or very sensitive, e.g. B. paralyzed patients can cause skin irritation.
- the beads that make up the pillow are made of a rigid foam. This means that when the patient moves, there is a noise caused by the beads rubbing against one another, which is particularly annoying in postoperative positioning, especially when the patient is not alone.
- the invention has for its object to provide a support element which is sufficiently modelable, but at the same time soft, which not only has a certain ventilation, but also good ventilation through uninterrupted air circulation, which does not lead to pressure irritation and which involves movement of the patient Is avoided quickly, while the advantageous properties of the pillows known hitherto, namely that balling of the filling is avoided, are to be retained.
- This object on which the invention is based is achieved in that, as the foam body, known polyamide foam edging rods are used, all of whose side surfaces form cut surfaces, with approx. 50 vol.% Edging rods and approx. 50 vol.% Pearls forming the mixing ratio and that Total filling volume of the support element is 70-80%.
- the width of the square sticks is preferably not greater than 10 mm and the maximum length does not exceed five times the maximum width.
- the support element can be pillow-like, mattress-like or in some other way.
- Edge sticks are known for example from DE-B-2 602 706. Surprisingly, it was found that the mixture this square sticks with plastic beads known per se, a filling material that can be modeled and at the same time is soft and that supports without having irritating effects on the patient's skin.
- This mixture according to the invention achieves a filling which does not clump and which can be modeled extremely softly, the distance between the individual beads being increased by the polyether rods, which practically consist only of air cells. This effect as well as the air cells of the polyether sticks ensure good ventilation without the support properties of the cushion or the support element being impaired.
- the mixture of polyether sticks and pearls also prevents the previously disturbing rustling.
- the admixture of the polyether rods ultimately results in a more elastic and therefore gentler positioning or support of the body part than is possible with the known positioning pillows.
