Description

The present invention relates generally to edge tiles, and more particularly relates to an edge tile of the type comprising a lateral part external to the roof as well as a part adjacent to said lateral part to allow the attachment of the edge tile to the roof on the one hand, by covering an adjacent tile and by a second edge tile located immediately above and, on the other hand, by transverse support relative to the first adjacent tile.

The invention also relates to a building roof provided with edge tiles according to the invention.

It is already known to use terracotta edge tiles for building roofs having an appropriate shape and in accordance with the style of the region where the building is constructed. But these tiles were most often sealed with mortar on the edge of the roof, which represented a certain number of drawbacks, and in particular that of a high labor cost.

There were also known terracotta edge tiles consisting of a flap-shaped part and an adjacent part overlapped by the next overlapping tile. However, this kind of tiles was particularly fragile, because of their terracotta constitution and, moreover, the longevity of such tiles was not satisfactory, especially in the regions where it frequently freezes.

Concrete edge tiles have also been proposed on the market, comprising a flap constituting properly speaking the edge, a flap which is integral with a roofing tile which participates, with other tiles, in the covering of the roof structure.

Finally, we know from FR-A- No. 2250875 edge tiles obtained by molding and comprising a first branch extending in the horizontal direction and a second branch extending in a vertical direction to beyond the plane laying tiles. These edge tiles are positioned by cooperation with adjacent tiles, but it is advisable to fix them on the roof structure using screws or nails.

It will be added here that, in general, the known edge tiles, given their relatively large dimensions, had a certain number of drawbacks.

Indeed, they remained difficult to manufacture and to handle and were of a high cost price. In addition, they were very fragile and frequently broke during transport and handling. Finally, it was extremely difficult to make edge tiles with the same shade as the other tiles, so that the color of the roof was not uniform.

The present invention aims to remedy all the above drawbacks by proposing an independent concrete edge tile, the part of which adjacent to the flap and serving for the attachment of the tile to the roof ensures instant and automatic positioning of said tile under the adjacent tile at the same time as on the next edge tile, both in the longitudinal plane and in the transverse plane. In addition, an edge tile according to the invention is very easy to manufacture and handling is also easy without the risk of breakage.

To this end, the subject of the invention is a shore tile, the part adjacent to the lateral part external to the roof is attached to said roof by covering a first adjacent tile and comprises, on its face opposite said roof. , a first recess with heel located towards the end covered part of the edge tile and ensuring the positioning as well as the longitudinal blocking thereof, in the direction of the slope of the roof, on a batten of the roof, and a second recess located towards the opposite end covering part of the tile and ensuring the positioning by overlapping of said edge tile on a second adjacent tile located immediately below the first.

According to another characteristic of the invention, the first recess has the form of a notch formed in the adjacent part of the tile and the edge of which forms the blocking heel of the tile on the batten, while the second recess, which extends to the end of the tile, has in cross section a rounded shape fitting on top of the second adjacent tile.

According to yet another characteristic of the invention, the transverse support with respect to the first adjacent tile is obtained by the fact that the adjacent part of the edge tile comprises, in a manner known per se, on its outer face, a longitudinal grooving defining at least one rib ensuring the nesting of the edge tile under the first adjacent tile covering it.

It will also be noted that the lateral part of the edge tile according to the invention comprises on its internal face a step or the like which follows the second recess to ensure the covering of the lateral part of the edge tile located immediately below.

The lateral part of the edge tile according to the invention may have, in cross section, different shapes depending on the style of the region. Thus, in the mounted position on the roof structure, the tile of the invention has a lateral part either vertical, oblique or even curved upwards.

The invention also relates to a roof fitted with edge tiles meeting the above characteristics, a roof which comprises battens projecting outwardly from the roof structure so as to receive said tiles, the last batten at the bottom of the roof being raised by means a wedge or the like of substantially semi-circular shape and serving as a support for the terminal edge tile.

  • la fig. 1 est une vue partielle et en perspective d'une toiture munie de tuiles de rive conformes à la présente invention;
  • la fig. 2 est une vue partielle en perspective d'une charpente de toiture, illustrant le montage et le positionnement des tuiles de rive de l'invention sur ladite charpente;
Other characteristics and advantages of the invention will appear better in the description given. cut which follows and refers to the appended drawings, given only by way of example, and in which:
  • fig. 1 is a partial perspective view of a roof provided with edge tiles according to the present invention;
  • fig. 2 is a partial perspective view of a roof frame, illustrating the mounting and positioning of the edge tiles of the invention on said frame;
  • fig. 3, 4 and 5 are side views respectively showing three edge tiles according to the invention, the lateral part or flap of which has a different shape.

According to an exemplary embodiment, and with reference to FIGS. 1 and 2, an edge tile 1 in accordance with the invention essentially comprises a lateral part external to the roof or flap 2 as well as a part 3 adjacent to the lateral part 2 to allow the attachment of tile 1 to the roof by overlapping an adjacent tile 4.

As it clearly appears in FIG. 2, the tile 1 has a first recess 5 located towards the end covered part 1a of the tile 1 and formed on the internal face 3a of the adjacent part 3. More specifically, the recess 5 is in the form of a niche whose end 6 constitutes a heel for blocking the tile 1 on the battens 7 of the roof which, according to the example of embodiment shown, are fixed to a frame element shown diagrammatically at 8.

1.The tile 1 further comprises, according to the invention, a second recess 9 which is located towards the extreme covering part 1b of the tile 1 and which extends to the end of said tile. This recess 9 has, in cross section, a rounded shape fitting on top of a lower tile 4, as can be seen in FIG. 1.

The part 3 of the tile 1 has, on its outer face, a longitudinal grooving 10 defining one or more ribs such as 11 ensuring the interlocking of the tile 1 under the upper tile 4 covering it. And, as can be clearly seen in FIG. 1, the roof tile 4 adjacent to the edge tile 1 fits onto the groove 10 of the latter which, by its rounded recess 9, is applied to a following roof tile 4. Thus, the end part 1 b of the edge tile 1 is in a way embedded or fitted between two successive roof tiles 4 and, moreover, this end 1 b fits onto the next edge tile 1.

Indeed, as can be seen in FIGS. 1 and 2, the lateral part or flap 2 of the tile 1 has on its internal face a hollow part, step or the like 12, which follows the recess 9 and which is applied to the external face of the flap of the next edge tile.

2.As seen in fig. 2, the battens 7 project externally from the roof frame 8, so as to allow the laying of the edge tiles 1 which form the side of the roof. The last strip 7, at the end of the roof, is raised using for example another strip marked in 7a on which is fixed a wedge or the like 13 which, according to the embodiment shown, has a substantially semi shape -circular and serves as support for the terminal edge tile. In this respect, part 14 of the tile 1 has been shown, which is capable of playing the role of stop for the shim 13. It will be noted here that the stop 14 is constituted by a face orthogonal to the tile 1 and marking the beginning of the recess 9 and the step 12, as shown by the line 12a in FIG. 2.

It is important to note here that, between the first recess 5 and the second recess 9, the tile 1 according to the invention has a projecting part 15 which advantageously allows the stacking of the tiles 1 for their transport, and this without risk of breaking said tiles. In other words, the edge tiles 1 according to the invention are, thanks to the part 15, easily stackable, which makes handling and transport on pallets easy, for example.

Figs. 3 to 5 illustrate various forms of lateral parts or flaps 2 for the edge tiles of the invention.

1 et 2.Fig..3 shows a side part 2 which, the tile 1 once laid, is substantially vertical. This is a so-called flap edge tile, which also corresponds to the edge tiles shown in Figs. 1 and 2.

Fig. 4 shows a tile 1 whose lateral part 2 is oblique. This is a type of edge tile commonly known as latticework.

Finally, fig. 5 shows a side part 2 in the form of an upward curved shape, known as a saintongege. One could of course imagine other forms for the part without departing from the scope of the invention.

This means that the invention is in no way limited to the embodiments described and illustrated, which have been given only by way of example. In other words, the invention includes all the technical equivalents of the means described as well as their combinations, if these are carried out according to the spirit and implemented within the scope of the content of the claims which follow and define the scope of protection.
