Abstract

1. Gable tile of the type comprising a side portion (2) outside of the roofing as well as a portion (3) adjacent to said side portion (2) to allow the gable tile (1) to be hooked onto the roofing on the one hand through overlap by a first adjacent tile (4) and by a second gable tile (1) directly located above and on the other hand by transversely holding with respect to the first adjacent tile (4), characterized in that said adjacent portion (3) comprises on its face (3a) in front of the roofing a first recess (5) with a nib (6) located towards the covered end portion (1a) of the tile (1) and providing for the positioning and longitudinal locking thereof onto a counter-batten lath (7) of the roofing, and a second recess (9) located towards the opposite covering end portion (1b) of the tile (1) and providing for the positioning of said gable tile (1) through overlap upon an adjacent second tile (4) directly located underneath the first one.

Description

The present invention relates generally to tiles of

  bank, and more particularly relates to a roof tile of the type comprising a lateral portion external to the roof and a portion adjacent to said side portion to allow the attachment of the

  tile at the roof by overlapping an adjacent tile.

  The invention also relates to a building roof

  provided with edge tiles according to the invention.

  It is already known to use for building roofing terracotta roof tiles having an appropriate shape and in accordance with the style of the region where the building is built. But these tiles were most often sealed mortar on the edge of the roof, which represented a number of disadvantages, including that of a

high labor cost.

  Also known were terracotta roof tiles consisting of a flap-shaped portion and an adjacent portion overlapped by the next tile and

  overlapping. However, this kind of tile was particularly

  fragile, because of their terracotta constitution, and in addition> the longevity of such tiles was not

  satisfactory, especially in regions where it frequently freezes.

  Concrete edge tiles have also been proposed on the market, with a flap forming the actual shore, which flap is integral with a roof tile which participates, with other tiles, in the covering of the roof.

  However, such edge tiles, given their relatively large size, had a number of disadvantages. In fact, they remained difficult to manufacture and handle and were expensive.   used for the anchoring of the tile on the roof, ensures instantaneous and automatic positioning of said tile under the adjacent tile at the same time as on the next edge tile, and this both in the longitudinal plane and in the transverse plane. In addition, a roof tile according to the invention is very easy to manufacture and handle

  According to yet another feature of the invention, the abovementioned adjacent portion of the tile has on its outer face a longitudinal groove defining at least one rib ensuring the interlocking of the edge tile under

the upper tile covering it.

  It will also be noted that the lateral part of the tile has on its internal face a redan or the like which makes

  The lateral portion of the edge tile according to the invention may have, in cross section, different shapes depending on the style of the region. Thus, in the mounted position on the roof structure, the tile of the invention has a lateral portion either vertical or oblique or

curled up.

  The invention also relates to a roof equipped with roof tiles meeting the above characteristics, which roof comprises batten protruding outwardly of the roof frame so as to receive said tiles, the last batten at the bottom of the roof being raised

  by means of a shim or the like of substantially semi-

  circular and serving as support for the terminal bank tile.

  According to an exemplary embodiment, and with reference to FIGS. 1 and 2, a bank tile 1 according to the invention essentially comprises a lateral part external to the roof or flap 2 and a part 3 adjacent to the lateral part 2 to allow the attachment of tile 1 to the

  As clearly shown in Figure 2, the tile 1 comprises a first recess 5 located towards the end covered part of the tile 1 and made on the inner face 3a of the adjacent portion 3 '.   Part 3 of the tile 1 has on its outer face a longitudinal groove 10 defining one or more ribs such as 11 ensuring the interlocking of the tile 1 under the upper tile 4 covering it. And, as can be clearly seen in FIG. 1, the roof tile 4 adjacent to the edge tile 1 engages on the groove 10 of the latter, which, by its rounded recess 9, is applied to a roof tile 4. Thus, the end portion 1b of the edge tile 1 is somehow embedded or nested between two successive roof tiles 4, and moreover this end 1b

  fits on the next tile 1.

  Indeed, as can be seen in FIGS. 1a2, the lateral part or flap 2 of the tile 1 has on its inner face a recessed portion, redan or the like 12 which follows the recess 9 and which applies on the outside

  the flap of the next bank tile.

  As seen in Figure 2, the battens 7 protrude externally of the roof structure 8, so as to allow the installation of the edge tiles 1 which embellish the side of the roof. The last batten 7, at the end of the roof, is elevated using for example another batten marked 7a on which is fixed a shim or analdgue 13 which, according to the embodiment shown, has a substantially semi form -circular and serves-support for the terminal edge tile. In this respect, it has been shown at 14 a portion of the tile 1, which is likely to act as a stop for the shim 13. It will be noted here that the stop 14 is constituted by a face orthogonal to the tile 1 and parquering the beginning of recess 9 and redan 12, as

  shows the line 12a in Figure 2.

  t46324l It is important to note here that between the first recess 5 and the second recess 9, the tile 1 according to the invention comprises a projecting portion 15 which advantageously allows the stack of tiles 1 for transport, and this without risk of breaking said tiles. In other words, the edge tiles 1 according to the invention are, thanks to the part 15> easily stackable) which makes easy the handling and transport on pallets by

example.

  Figures 3 to 5 illustrate various forms of side portions or flaps 2 for the edge tiles of the invention. Figure 3 shows a side portion 2 which, tile 1 once laid, is substantially vertical. This is a bank tile said to flap, which corresponds to that

  Figure 4 shows a tile 1 whose side portion 2 is oblique. This is a type of shore tile

commonly called bardelis.

R E V E N D I C A T I 0 N S   1. A roof tile of the type comprising a lateral portion external to the roof and a portion adjacent to said side portion to allow the attachment of the tile to the roof by overlapping an adjacent tile, characterized in that said portion adjacent (3) has on its face (3a) - facing the roof, a first recess (5) located towards the end portion covered (la) of the tile (1) and ensuring the positioning and blocking thereof ci on the battens (7) of the roof, and a second recess (9) located towards the opposite extreme covering part (1b) of the tile and ensuring the positioning by overlapping of said roof tile on an adjacent tile (4).   2. Roof tile according to claim 1, characterized in that the first aforementioned recess (5) has the shape of a slot formed in the adjacent portion (3) abovementioned and at least one of the ends (6) form heel for blocking the tile on the battens, while the second recess mentioned above (9), which extends to the end of the tile, has a rounded cross sectional shape   fitting on the top of a lower tile (4).   3. Roof tile according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the abovementioned adjacent portion (3) has on its outer face a longitudinal groove (10) defining at least one rib (11) ensuring the nesting of the tile of   bank under the upper tile (4) covering it.   4. Roof tile according to one of claims 1 to 3,   characterized in that the predetermined lateral part (2) of the tile has on its internal face a step or the like (12)   which follows the second recess mentioned above (9).   5. Roof tile according to one of claims 1 to 4, characterized   characterized in that the pre-brazed side portion (2) is substantially vertical, oblique or curved according to the desired style. 6. Roof equipped with edge tiles according to one of   Claims 1 to 5, characterized in that it comprises   battens (7) protruding outwardly from the roof structure (8) to receive said tiles, the last batten at the end of the roof being raised by means of a shim or the like (13) of substantially semicircular shape and serving as support for the terminal bank tile.
