Definitions
- the present invention relates to a tooth-root canal pin with train protection and a build-up head.
- Tooth root canal posts of the type mentioned at the outset are known.
- GB-PS 1 347 227 discloses such a pin, which has a cylindrical thread with an enlarged head.
- a similar root canal post is described in CH-PS 562 605.
- the use of such cylindrical pencils has certain disadvantages.
- separate root canal pins had to be used, e.g.
- root canal instruments of the United Dental Works, Zdarsky, Ehrler KG in Kunststoff. They are either made of gutta-percha, plastic or silver, are smooth-walled and have the shape of a slightly tapered cone. These known root filler pins are suitable for the above-mentioned tasks, but they are not suitable for anchoring filling or building materials for the restoration of the tooth crowns, since they have neither a train protection device nor a head capable of being anchored.
- the procedure today is as follows: The previously expanded root canal is filled with a root canal. filled material and then added a root filling pen. Most of the previous caries and the opening of the root canal cause such weakening or ⁇ destruction of the natural tooth crown that mechanical strengthening is usually necessary. For these, the root canal is usually partially drilled out again after filling with special drills and a threaded pin or (after the hole has been shaped) a cast pin is inserted into this hole, which then serve with its projecting ends to anchor the filling or building materials. So that the above-mentioned root filler pin is not pulled out during drilling, it must first be shortened so that it is not grasped by the drill.
- the pin has a restrained, conical threaded part over a lowermost, conical, smooth pin part over part of its length.
- the taper of which preferably corresponds to that of the usual standardized instruments for widening the root canal the root filling material can now be optimally compressed immediately when the pin is inserted. Since the pin is only threaded for a relatively short distance, which is preferably attached, i.e.
- the pin protrudes beyond the pin diameter, the pin is not weakened and thus has a high degree of flexural rigidity, which also allows the root filling material to be pressed, compressed and displaced very intensively into the side channels. After the filling material has been compacted, the pin is firmly inserted directly by gently screwing it into the root canal. Overall, this results in a very simple, effective method for inserting and anchoring the pin.
- FIG. 1 shows a first embodiment of the root canal pin in large magnification
- Figure 2 shows a view of the pin of Fig. 1 from below
- Figures 3 and 4 show variants of the root canal pin
- FIG. 5 shows part of a conventional, standardized file for expanding the root canal
- FIGS 6 to 8 show the use of the instrument according to Figures 1-5.
- the pin 1 has a smooth, lower, conical compression part 2 with a conical tip 3. Above this compression part is a threaded part 4 with an attached thread 5, over which the enlarged head part 6 follows, which, for secure anchoring of plastically introduced and then hardening filling and building materials, is provided with traction and rotation with longitudinal grooves 7 and circumferential grooves 8 is. Above the head 6, the pin has a screwed-in predetermined breaking point 9, above which the grip part 10 is located.
- the pin 1 is preferably made of a stainless chromium-nickel steel or a highly corrosion-resistant chromium-cobalt-molybdenum alloy.
- the shape and dimensions of the root canal pin are adapted to those standardized instruments for expanding the root canal.
- An instrument of this type in the form of a file 11 with a spiral cutting edge 12 is shown in FIG. 5, the handle 13 being only partially visible.
- the dimensions of the conical shaft 2 and of the threaded part 4 correspond to
- the root canal pin has a constant taper, namely a slope of 0.02 mm per 1 mm length.
- the diameter increases from 0.5 mm to 0.82 mm.
- the height of the threaded rib 5 is 0.12 mm and is carried out at most 0.15 mm high. It has a steep slope.
- the root canal posts according to FIGS. 3 and 4 differ from those according to FIG. 1 by their length and their diameter, but the conicity remains the same. It is thus shown that various combinations are possible according to length and diameter, with a corresponding ISO instrument for expanding the root canal naturally being used for each root canal pin.
- a head 6a with three superimposed, flat pressed or turned parts is provided, while FIG. 4 shows a head 6b which is obtained by cutting open and spreading the pin.
- FIG. 6 to 8 show an application example of the root canal post according to the invention in three longitudinal sections.
- 15 shows a molar tooth destroyed by caries, 15a the carious destruction, 15b the remaining healthy tooth structure, 15c the dental pulp in the root canals.
- Figure 7 shows the same tooth after removal of the destroyed and undermined tooth substances, indicating how the file 11 is used to widen the root canals 16. The root canals are now ready to fill and receive root posts.
- 15d shows that Root filling material, at the same time fastening material, 1 two of the root posts according to the invention, which can be slightly bent if necessary and whose handle 10 was broken off after the insertion
- 15e the building material, for example a hardened plastic filled with glass bodies, which was introduced plastically
- 15f an artificial tooth crown placed over the reconstructed crown stump, for example made of cast metal with a fired ceramic coating.
- the pin according to the invention has the following advantages: since the pin in the part intended for the root canal corresponds to the ISO standards, the customary expansion or drilling instruments corresponding to the ISO standards can be used to prepare and drill the root canal. If these instruments correspond to the strength of the post, the insertion of the post into the root canal does not require any additional drilling as with the other known anchoring posts.
- the pin according to the invention is flexible and elastic, it also follows curved channels. It saves the separate insertion of a special and previously shortened root filling pen to compress the root filling material and, in addition to simplifying the insertion, achieves the best possible hold against shearing and pulling forces in accordance with the conditions of the human tooth roots. At the same time, it provides the build-up or filling material with a solid anchor for restoring the destroyed tooth. For this purpose, the pin is screwed in more securely and more easily than with tweezers, either with the fingers or with a key placed over the head, after it has been coated with a root filling compound.
- the goals and advantages are again given below, which are achieved with the root canal post according to the invention:
- the root post represents for the first time a connection between a root filling post and a screw anchor.
- the first root filling pen made of a corrosion-resistant chrome-nickel-steel or chrome-cobalt-molybdenum alloy instead of silver, plastic or gutta-percha.
- the thread has an extremely high pitch, so that the dentin walls cannot tear when pulled.
- the root post has a round cross-section along the entire length and can therefore be used fully walled.
- the dimensions of the pin correspond to the ISO standards, so that the usual instruments for sewer preparation can be used.
- the head of the root canal is set up in such a way that a plastic material introduced there is anchored in a manner that prevents it from rotating and turning.
- the pin itself is anchored securely in the root canal. It is secured against rotation by the fact that the plastically inserted superstructures or additions are always out of round.
- the thread of the pin in conjunction with the grip of the head, allows it to be unscrewed later and thus the revision of a root filling - a property that no other pin has suitable retention.
- the manipulation in the mouth is simple and safe thanks to the handle and the predetermined breaking point.
- the thickness and length of the pen can be clearly identified by color coding and numbering.
- a pin without thread and of the same thickness and length can serve as a drilling jig for measuring the channel length and the diameter.
- the root post can also be combined with plastic posts for root filling, which are re-pressed.
