Abstract
Se describe un método para preparar una sal de metal alcalino que comprende: (a) condensar un disililoxidieno con un aldehído en presencia de un catalizador de titano (IV) en un solvente inerte para formar 5(S)-hidroxi-3-cetoéster; (b) reducir el 5(S)-hidroxi-3-cetoéster a un 3(R),5(S)-dihidroxiéster en presencia de un di(alquilo inferior)metoxiborano; y (c) hidrolizar el 3(R),5(S)-dihidroxiéster en presencia de una base acuosa para formar una sal de metal alcalino.
