Abstract

Фотонное устройство выполнено посредством: (i) подачи (например, посредством струйной печати) определенной дозы жидкокристаллического материала; и (ii) осаждения этой дозы на поверхность слоя текучего материала с образованием жидкокристаллического покрытия, причем текучий материал и жидкокристаллический материал, по существу, не способны к смешению. Жидкокристаллическое покрытие принимает деформированную форму относительно формы определенной дозы вследствие взаимодействия со слоем текучего материала. Это способствует упорядочению жидкокристаллического материала. Внедрение лазерного красителя обеспечивает возможность фотонному устройству работать в качестве лазера, который, в зависимости от обстоятельств, может работать выше или ниже порога. Фотонное устройство может также быть использовано в качестве пассивного устройства, основанного на фотонной запрещенной зоне упорядоченного жидкокристаллического материала.
