  • 4. Verfahren nach Anspruch I, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das Vorwärmen durch An-I,lasen der Grenzflächen mit einem warmen Luftstrom in einer kühleren Umgebung erfolgt.

Claims (3)

  1. Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zum Verschweinen von Gegenständen aus thermoplastische Stoffen unter Anwendung von elektrischer Hochfrequenzenergie.
    Es ist bekannt, Folien aus thermoplastischen Kunststoffen dadurch miteinander zu verschweißen, dall sie im elektrischen Hochfrequenzfeld erwärmt und durch Zusammendrücken miteinander vereinigt werden. Wenn die miteinander zu verschweißenden Gegenstände dicker sind als Folien, läßt sich dieses Verfahren grundsätzlicll ebenfalls anwenden, jedoch ergeben sich einige Schwierigkeiten dadurch, daß die Erwärmung sich auf den ganzen Körper erstreckt, während ein Bedarf dafür nur an der in Aussicht genommenen Verbindungsstelle besteht.
    Dies bedeutet nicht bloß einen nutzlosen Aufwand von Hochfrequenzenergie, sondern auch die Gefahr einer unerwünschten Form- und Gefügeänderung der Gegenstände. Dieser l,langel wird durch die Erlin(lung beseitigt.
    Gemäß der Erfindung werden die Verbindungsflächen der miteinander zu verschweißenden Gegenstünde zunächst durch Wärmeübertragung auf eine über der Raumtemperatur und unterhalb der Verschweißungstemperatur liegende Zwischentemperatur und anschließend im elektrischen Hochf requenzfeld auf die Verschweißungstemperatur gebraucht. Auf diese Weise besitzen die Grenzschichten, an denen die Verschweißung stattfindet, im Zeitpullkt der Anlegung des elektrischen Hochfrequenzfeldes eine höhere Temperatur als die übrige klasse der Gegenstände und erreichen die Schweißtemperatur, bei welcher die Kunststoffmasse plastisch wird, früher als diese. Dadurch werden mehrere Vorteile erzielt. X7or allem wird eine unwillkommene Verformung der Gegenstände vermieden. l)aiin tritt aber auch eine Ersparnis an teurer 1 {ochfrequenzenergie ein, weil das Vorwärmen der Grenzschichten mit billigerer VVärmeenergie erfolgt. Da das Vorwärmen außerhalb der Hochfrequenzbehandlungseinrichtung vorgenommen werden kann, wird diese von dem einzelnen Werkstück kürzere Zeit in Anspruch genommen, so daß sie eine hiillere Stundenleistung erreicht.
    I)as \'orwärmen der Grenzschichten der miteinwander zu verschweißenden Gegenstände kann auf verschiedene Weise erfolgen. In der Zeichnung sind die beiden Körper aus thermoplastischem Kunststoff, die miteinander verschweißt werden sollen, mit 1 und 2 bezeichnet. Um die Grenzschichten, an denen die Verschweißung stattfinden soll, vorzuwärlnen, wird zwischen sie ein Heizkörper 3 geschoben. Dieser kann beispielsweise einen im [iineren eingebetteten Heizwiderstand enthalten und elektrisch geheizt sein. Um das Iinfiihren des Heizkörpers in die Trennfuge zu erleichtern, wirc er zweckmäßig keilförmig ausgebildet. Der Heizkörper kann aber auch vor dem Einführen in die Tremlfuge von augen her durch Berührung mit einer heißen Atmosphäre oder einer heißen Unterlage auf die erforderliche Temperatur gebracht werden. An Stelle eines vollflächigen Heizkörpers kann auch ein vorgewärmtes oder durch Stromdurchgang erhitztes Drahtgebilde verwendet werden. Die Wärmeübertragung auf die Grenzflächen kann auch durch Bestrahlung derselben mit infraroten Strahlen erfolgen. Schließlich ist es auch möglich, das Vorwärmen durch Anblasen der Grenzfiächen mit einem warmen Luftstrom in einer kühleren Umgebung zu bewirken.
    Da die Wärmeausbreitung im Kunststoffkörper langsam vor sich geht, hat die Hauptmasse desselben beim Einführen in die Hochfrequenzbehandlungseinrichtung keine merklich erhöhte Temperatur, wenn das Vorwärmen kurz vorher vorgenommen worden ist, so daß der Erfindungszweck voll erreicht wird. Man könnte an sich die Grenzflächen auch auf die Verschweißungstemperatur selbst erwärmen und die Verschweißung ganz ohne Hochfrequenzbehandlung durchführen. Es hat sich jedoch gezeigt, daß letztere eine wesentlicll gleichmäßigere und innigere Verbindung ergibt und auch eine Abkürzung der Gesamtbehandlungsdauer zur Folge hat.
    PATENTANSPRÜCHE: I. Verfahren zum Verschweißen von Gegenständen aus thermoplastischen Kunststoffen, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die miteinander zu verbindenden Grenzflächen der Körper zunächst durch Wärmeiil)ertragung auf eine zwischen der Raum- und der Verschweiß ungstemperatur liegende Zwischentemperatur vorgewärmt und anschließend im elektrischen Hochfrequenzfeld auf die Verschweißungstemperatur gel>racht werden.
  2. 2. Verfahren nach Anspruch I, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das Vorwärmen durch Einführen eines vorzugsweise elektrisch geheizten Heizkörpers (3) zwischen die Grenzflächen erfolgt.
  3. 3. Verfahren nach Anspruch I, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das Vorwärmen durch 13estrahlen mit infraroten Strahlen erfolgt.
