Description
- Diese Erfindung betrifft flammhemmende Zusammensetzungen, die thermoplastische Harze und ein anorganisches flammhemmendes Füllmittel enthalten. Die Zusammensetzungen sind besonders als Isolierung für Drähte und Kabel geeignet. Thermoplastische Harze, die gute elektrische Isoliereigenschaften aufweisen, werden in großem Maße verwendet, um Isolierummantelungen oder Umhüllungen für Drähte und Kabel zu schaffen. In letzter Zeit bestand Nachfrage nach verbesserten flammhemmenden Eigenschaften, z. 13. so hoch wie V-1 bis V-0 nach "Underwriters Laboratories Standards".
- Thermoplastische Harze können durch Zugabe von z. 13. organischen Halogeniden oder Antimonoxiden zu Harzen flammfest gemacht werden, oder das Harz selbst kann halogeniert werden wie Polyvinylchlorid oder chloriertes Polyethylen. Diese thermoplastischen Harze tropfen jedoch beim Brennen oder biegen sich durch und emittieren große Mengen Rauch und andere schädliche Gase, und sie korrodieren auch Metalle.
- Um diese Probleme zu lösen, ist vorgeschlagen worden, Metallhydroxide zu nicht-halogenierten thermoplastischen Harzen zuzugeben. Zunächst wurde Aluminiumhydroxid wegen seiner geringen Kosten verwendet, jedoch hat es eine so niedrige Zersetzungstemperatur (170º bis 190ºC), daß sich das Aluminiumhydroxid unter Bildung von Wasser zersetzt, welches wiederum ein Schäumen an der inneren Oberflache verursacht.
- Im Vergleich zu Aluminiumhydroxid hat Magnesiumhydroxid eine viel höhere Zersetzungstemperatur (etwa 360º C) und zeigt daher weniger Schäumen. Aus diesem und anderen Gründen wurde Magnesiumhydroxid in großem Umfang als flammhemmendes Mittel in Harzen verwendet. Ein Nachteil einer thermoplastischen flammhemmenden Harz/Magnesiumhydroxid-Zusammensetzung ist es, daß Magnesiumhydroxid eine Verringerung der Extrusionsgeschwindigkeit der Zusammensetzung verursacht, was die Produktivität verringert, und die mechanische Festigkeit, Dehnung, Flexibilität und Verwendbarkeit der Zusammensetzung bei niedrigen Temperaturen verschlechtern sich, wenn sie sich in einem extrudierten oder geschmolzenen Zustand befindet. Aufgabe dieser Erfindung ist es daher, eine Zusammensetzung aus thermoplastischem Harz/anorganischem flammhemmendem Mittel zu schaffen, die als eine Isolierummantelung für Drähte und Kabel geeignet ist, die jedoch im wesentlichen mit den oben erwähnten Nachteilen nicht behaftet ist.
- Andere Aufgaben und Vorteil gehen aus dem folgenden hervor.
- Erfindungsgemäß wurde eine Zusammensetzung gefunden, die die obigen Aufgaben löst. Die Zusammensetzung umfaßt
- (i) ein thermoplastisches Harz;
- (ii) ein anorganisches flammhemmendes Mittel;
- (iii) ein Copolymer aus Ethylen und entweder 1-Hexen oder 1-Octen, wobei das genannte Copolymer mit einer ungesättigten organischen Verbindung modifiziert wurde, die wenigstens eine Carboxylatgruppe enthält; und
- (iv) gegebenenfalls ein Copolymer aus Ethylen und einem oder mehreren α-Oolefinen mit einer Kristallinität von weniger als etwa 40 Gew.-%.
- Das thermoplastische Harz kann jedes Homo- oder Copolymer sein, das aus zwei oder mehreren Comonomeren hergestellt wurde, oder eine Mischung von zwei oder mehreren dieser Polymere, die normalerweise als Ummantelungs- und/oder Isoliermaterialien für Drähte und Kabel verwendet werden. Im allgemeinen weisen die Monomere, die zur Herstellung dieser Homo- oder copolymere geeignet sind, 2 bis 20 Kohlenstoffatome auf. Beispiele solcher Monomere sind α-Olefine wie Ethylen, Propylen, 1-Buten, 1-Hexen, 4-Methyl-1-penten und 1-Octen; ungesättigte Ester wie Vinylacetat, Ethylacrylat, Methylacrylat, Methylmethacrylat, t-Butylacrylat, n-Butylacrylat, n-Butylmethacrylat, 2-Ethylhexylacrylat und andere Alkylacrylate; Diolefine wie 1,4-Pentadien, 1,3-Hexadien, 1,5- Hexadien, 1,4-Octadien und Ethylidennorbornen; andere Monomere wie Styrol, p-Methylstyrol, a-Methylstyrol, Vinylnapththalin und ähnliche Arylolefine; Nitrile wie Acrylnitril und Methacrylnitril; Vinylmethylketon, Vinylmethylether und Maleinsäureanhydrid; und Acrylsäure, Methacrylsäure und andere ähnliche ungesättigte Säuren. Zusätzlich zu den Polyolefinen zählen zu den genannten Polymeren Polyester, Polycarbonate und Polyurethane. Die Homopolymere und Copolymere aus Ethylen werden bevorzugt. Die Harze sind vorzugsweise nicht halogeniert. Beispiele von Homo- und Copolymeren aus Ethylen sind Hochdruckpolyethylen mit geringer Dichte, Polyethylen verschiedener Dichten (hoch, mittel, linear niedrig, sehr niedrig und ultra-niedrig), worin das Comonomer 1-Buten, 1-Hexen, 4- Nethyl-1-penten oder 1-Octen; Ethylen/Propylen-Kautschuk; Ethylen/Propylen/Dienmonomer-Kautschuk; Ethylen/Vinylacetat-Copolymer; Ethylen/Ethylacrylat-Copolyer; Isobutylen/Isopren-Kautschuk und Polybuten-1 ist.
- Das anorganische flammhemmende Mittel kann jede der folgenden Mischungen sein: Aluminiumhydroxid, Magnesiumhydroxid, Kaliumhydroxid, Zirkonhydroxid, Bariummetaborat, Zinkmetaborat, Kalziumhydroxid, Kaolinit, Montmorillonit, Talkum, Ton, roter Phosphor, Bariumborat, Siliziumdioxid, Quarzpulver, Diatomeenerde, Bariumsulfat, Celite, Aluminiumoxid, Titanoxid, Zinkoxid, Molybdändisulfid, Kalziumphosphat, Asbest und Lithopon. Magnesiumhydroxid wird bevorzugt.
- Wenn auch herkömmliches Magnesiumhydroxid verwendet werden kann, ist ein besonders bevorzugtes Magnesiumhydroxid und ein Verfahren zu dessen Herstellung in US-A-4 098 762 beschrieben worden. Bevorzugte Eigenschaften dieses Magnesiumhydroxid sind (a) eine Verformung in Richtung < 101> von nicht mehr als 3,0 x 10&supmin;³; (b) eine Kristallitgröße in Richtung < 101> von mehr als 800 Angström und (c) eine Oberfläche, bestimmt nach dem BET-Verfahren, von weniger als 20 m² pro Gramm.
- Der durchschnittliche Teilchendurchmesser des Magnesiumhydroxid kann im Bereich von 0,1 bis 15 Mikron liegen und beträgt vorzugsweise 0,5 bis 3 Mikron. Die Oberfläche kann 1 bis 20 m² pro g betragen, und sie ist vorzugsweise 3 bis 8 m² pro g. Das anorganische flammmhemmende Mittel ist vorzugsweise mit verschiedenen Fettsäuren oder Metallsalzen von Fettsäuren wie Stearinsäure, Natriumoleat, Natriumstearat, Natriumlaurylsulfonat, Kalziumstearat oder Zinkstearat oberflächenbehandelt, wie es z. 13. in US-A-4 255 303 beschrieben wurde. Es kann auch mit einem Silan-Haftmittel, einen Titanat-Haftmittel oder einem Aluminium-Haftmittel oberflächenbehandelt sein. In jedem Fall ist es vorzuziehen, das flammhemmende Mittel zuerst einer Oberflächenbehandlung zu unterziehen.
- Das anorganische flammhemmende Mittel kann in Kombination mit verschiedenen organischen flammhemmenden Mitteln wie solchen, die Brom, Chlor oder Phosphor enthalten, verwendet werden. Beispiele von geeigneten organischen flammhemmenden Mitteln sind Hexabrombenzol, Tris(2,3-dibrompropyl) isocyanat; 2,2- Bis (4-hydroxyethoxy-3,5-dibromphenyl) propan; Decabromdiphenyloxid; Pentabromdiphenylether; Hexabrombiphenyl; chloriertes Paraff in; bromiertes Epoxyharz, halogenierte Phosphatester; Tris-chlorethylphosphat; halogenierte kondensierte Phosphatester und Diphenylcresylphosphat.
- Die Anteile der Komponenten in der erfindungsgemäßen Zusammensetzung, bezogen auf 100 Gew.-Teile thermoplastisches Harz sind wie folgt Komponente breiter Bereich bevorzucrter Bereich Gew.-% Anorganisches flammhemmendes Mittel Organisches flammhemmendes Mittel (wahlweise) säuremodifiziertes C&sub2;/C&sub6; oder C&sub2;/C&sub8;-Copolymer Copolymer mit geringer Kristallinität (wahlweise)
- Die nächste Komponente ist ein Copolymer aus Ethylen und entweder 1-Hexen oder 1-Octen, worin das Copolymer mit einer ungesättigten organischen Verbindung modifiziert wurde, die wenigstens eine Carboxylatgruppe enthält, d. h. eine COO- Gruppe. Das Copolymer kann in herkömmlicher Weise unter Verwendung eines Aufschlämmungs-Verfahrens, eines Gasphasen-Verfahrens oder eines Hochtemperatur-Lösungsverfahrens hergestellt werden. Das Verfahren kann mit einem Ziegler-Katalysator katalysiert werden, der z. 13. Titan oder Vanadium, einen organischen Aluminium-Cokatalysator und einen Siliziumdioxid- oder Magnesiumhalogenidträger enthält, oder einem Chromkatalysator. Normalerweise werden 90 bis 99 Mol-% Ethylen mit 1 bis 10 Mol-% 1-Hexen oder 1-Octen copolymerisiert. Das Copolymer aus Ethylen und 1-Hexen hat typischer Weise eine Dichte von 0,89 bis 0,93 g pro cm³, einen Schmelzindex von 0,5 bis 10 g/10 Minuten und einen Schmelzpunkt von 122 bis 127º C. Das Copolymer aus Ethylen und 1-Octen hat typischer Weise eine Dichte von 0,900 bis 0,940 g pro cm³, einen Schmelzindex von 1 bis 10 g/10 Minuten und einen Schmelzpunkt von 120 bis 128º C.
- Die Modifizierung des Copolymers aus Ethylen und entweder 1- Hexen oder 1-Octen mit einer ungesättigten organischen Verbindung, die wenigstens eine Carboxylatgruppe enthält, die auch als Säure-Modifizierung bezeichnet werden kann, kann unter Verwendung einer Lösung, einer Suspension oder eines Schmelzverfahrens erfolgen. Beispiele geeigneter Modifizierungsmittel sind ungesättigte Carbonsäuren wie Fumarsäure, Acrylsäure, Maleinsäure, Itaconsäure, Methacrylsäure, Sorbinsäure, Crotonsäure und Citraconsäure; Säureanhydride wie Maleinsäureanhydrid, Itaconsäureanhydrid und Citraconsäureanhydrid; Epoxyverbindungen wie Glycidylacrylat und Glycidylmethacrylat; Hydroxyverbindungen wie 2-Hydroxyethylacrylat, 2-Hydroxyethylmethacrylat und Polyethylenglykol-monoacrylat; Metallsalze wie Natriumacrylat, Natriummethacrylat und Zinkacrylat; verschiedene Acrylät- und Methacrylatester wie Ethylacrylat, Propylacrylat und Isobutylacrylat; Vinylester wie Vinylacetat, Vinylpropionat und Vinylbutyrat; und Silane wie Methacryloxypropylsilan und Vinylacetoxysilan. Gegebenenfalls können Mischungen der vorgenannten Modifizierungsmittel verwendet werden. Bevorzugte Modifizierungsmittel sind Acrylsäure, Maleinsäure und Maleinsäureanhydrid. Die Modifizierungsmittel können in Kombination mit verschiedenen Monomeren wie Styrol, Vinylsilan, Acrylnitril, Butylvinylether und 2 -Hydroxypropylacrylat verwendet werden.
- Die Modifizierungsmittel können in dem Copolymer in einer Menge von 0,005 bis 5 Mol-%, vorzugsweise von 0,01 bis 1 Mol-%, anwesend sein.
- Um das modifizierte Copolymer mittels Lösungsverfahren herzustellen, wird das Copolymer zusammen mit z. B. einer ungesättigten Carbonsäure und einem radikalischen Initiierungsmittel in einem nichtpolaren Lösungsmittel auf eine hohe Temperatur erhitzt. Beispiele nichtpolarer organischer Lösungsmittel sind Hexan, Heptan, Benzol, Toluol, Xylol, Chlorbenzol und Tetrachlorethan. Das radikalische Initiierungsmittel ist ein organisches Peroxid wie 2,5-Dimethyl-2, 5-di(tert-butylperoxy)hexan; 2, 5-Dimethyl(tert-butylperoxy)hexin-1 und Benzoylperoxid. Die Temperatur beträgt 110ºC bis 160º C, vorzugsweise 130º C bis 150º C.
- Bei einem Suspensionsverfahren wird das Copolymer zusammen mit z. 13. einer ungesättigten Carbonsäure und einem radikalischen initiator in einem polaren Lösungsmittel wie Wasser unter hohem Druck auf eine Temperatur von höher als 100ºC erhitzt.
- Bei einem Schmelzverfahren wird das Copolymer geschmolzen und mit einem Modifizierungsmittel und einem radikalischen lnitiator in einer Mischvorrichtung wie einer Extrudiervorrichtung vermischt. Die Mischtemperatur ist gewöhnlich höher als der Schmelzpunkt des Copolymers und niedriger als 300ºC.
- Das Ethylen mit geringer Kristallinität/α-Olefin-Copolymer mit geringer Kristallinität kann ein statistisches Copolymer aus Ethylen und einem α-Olefin mit 3 bis 10 Kohlenstoffatomen sein. Ein typisches Copolymer enthält 85 bis 9s Mol-% Ethylen, hat einen Schmelzindex von 0,1 bis 50 g/10 Minuten, eine Dichte von 0,870 bis 0,900 g pro cm³ und einen Kristallinitätsgrad von 5 bis 40 Gew. -% (bestimmt durch Röntgendiffraktion) und einen Schmelzpunkt von 40 bis 100º C. Das Copolymer kann auch im wesentlichen amorph sein. Beispiele von α-Olefinen, die mit Ethylen copolymerisiert werden können, sind Propylen, 1-Buten, 1-Penten, 1-Hexen, 4- Methylpenten-1, 1-Octen, 1 Decen und Mischungen von diesen. Die C&sub3;- bis C&sub5;-α-Olefine werden bevorzugt, insbesondere 1- Buten.
- Das Copolymer mit geringer Kristallinität kann das gleiche sein wie das thermoplastische Harz, jedoch wird dieses nicht bevorzugt.
- Das Copolymer mit geringer Kristallinität wird vorzugsweise hergestellt durch Copolymerisation von Ethylen mit dem α- Olefin in einem Lösungsmittelmedium in Anwesenheit eines Katalysatorsystems auf der Basis einer Vanadiumverbindung wie Vanadiumtrichlorid, Monoethoxydichlorvanadyl, Triethoxyvanadyl, Vanadiumoxydiacetylacetonat und Vanadiumtriacetylacetonat, und einer organischen Aluminiumverbindung, dargestellt durch die Formel RnAlX3-n, worin R eine Hydrocarbylgruppe wie eine Alkylgruppe bedeutet; x = Wasserstoff, Chlor oder eine Alkoxygruppe mit 2 bis 4 Kohlenstoffatomen ist, wobei jedes R und X gleich oder verschieden sein kann; und n eine ganze Zahl von 1 bis 3 ist. Das Copolymer kann auch mittels anderer herkömmlicher Verfahren hergestellt werden.
- Weitere geeignete Additive für die erfindungsgemäße Zusammensetzung sind oberflächenaktive Mittel, verstärkende Füllmittel oder Polymeradditive, Vernetzungsmittel, UV-Stabilisatoren, antistatische Mittel, Pigmente, Farbstoffe, Gleitmittel, Weichmacher, Schmiermittel, Viskositätssteuerungsmittel, Extenderöle, Metall-Deaktivatoren, Verzögerungsmittel gegen Wasserbäumchenbildung, Spannunqsstabilisatoren. flammhemmende Additive und Rauchunterdrückungsmittel.
- Beispiele von Antioxidationsmitteln sind: gehinderte Phenole wie Tetrakis [methylen(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyhydrocinnamat)]methan und Thiodiethylen-bis (3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxy)hydrocinnamat; Phosphite und Phosphonite wie Tris(2,4- di-tert-butylphenyl) phosphit und Di-tert-butylphenylphosphonit; verschiedene Amine wie polymerisiertes 2,2,4-Trimethyl-1,2-dihydrochinolin und Siliziumdioxid. Die Antioxidationsmittel werden in Mengen von 1 bis 5 Gew.-Teilen pro 100 Gew.-Teile thermoplastisches Harz verwendet.
- Die thermoplastischen Harze können durch Zugabe von Vernetzungsmitteln zu der Zusammensetzung vernetzt werden, oder indem das Harz hydrolisierbar gemacht wird, und zwar durch Addition von hydrolysierbaren Gruppen wie -Si(OR)&sub3;, worin R ein Hydrocarbyl-Rest ist, an die Harzstruktur mittels Copolymerisation oder Pfropfen.
- Geeignete Vernetzungsmittel sind organische Peroxide wie Dicumylyperoxid; 2, 5-Dimethyl-2 ,5-di (t-butylperoxy) hexan; t-Butylcumylperoxid und 2,5-Dimethyl-2,5-di (t-butylperoxy) hexan-3. Dicumylperoxid wird bevorzugt.
- Die hydrolysierbaren Gruppen können z. B. durch Copolymerisation von Ethylen mit einer ethylenisch ungesättigten Verbindung mit einer oder mehreren -Si(OR)&sub3;-Gruppen wie Vinyltrimethoxysilan, Vinyltriethoxysilan und gamma-Methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilan oder durch Aufpfropfen dieser Silanverbindungen auf das Harz in Anwesenheit der vorgenannten organischen Peroxide addiert werden. Die hydrolysierbaren Harze werden dann durch Feuchtigkeit vernetzt, und zwar in Anwesenheit eines Silanol-Kondensations-Katalysators wie Dibutylzinndilaurat, Dibutylzinndiacetat, Zinn-II-acetat, Bleinaphthenat und Zinkcaprylat. Dibutylzinnlaurat wird bevorzugt.
- Beispiele hydrolysierbarer Copolymere und hydrolysierbarer Pfropf-Copolymere sind Ethylen/Vinyltrimethoxysilan-Copolymer, Ethylen/gamma-Methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilan-Copolymer, auf Ethylen/Ethylacrylat-Copolymer gepfropftes Vinyltrimethoxysilan, auflineares Ethylen niederer Dichte/1-Buten- Copolymer gepfropftes Vinyltrimethoxysilan und auf Polyethylen mit niederer Dichte gepfropftes Vinyltrimethoxysilan.
- Die erfindungsgemäßen Zusammensetzungen können extrudiert um einen elektrischen Leiter oder als Beschichtung auf diesen aufgebracht werden oder sie können spritzgegossen, rotationsgepreßt oder formgepreßt werden.
- Neben der Anwendung für Drähte und Kabel kann die erfindungsgemäße Zusammensetzung auch als Hülle für einen Glaskern bei Faseroptik-Anwendungen verwendet werden.
- Technische Ausführungsformen der erfindungsgemäßen Zusammensetzung erhält man im allgemeinen durch Vermischen der Harzkomponenten und des anorganischen flammhemmenden Mittels mit einem oder mehreren Antioxidationsmitteln und anderen Additiven in Vorrichtungen wie einen Banbury-Mischer, einer Druckknetvorrichtung, einer Doppelschneckenextrudiervorrichtung, einer Buss-Coknetvorrichtung, einem Henschel-Mischer oder einer Walzenknetvorrichtung. Die Komponenten können in beliebiger Reihenfolge zugegeben werden, und die Komponenten, die in kleineren Mengen zugegeben werden, können als Vormischung zugegeben werden. Die Mischungen können dann stranggepreßt oder spritzgegossen, rotationsgepreßt oder formgepreßt werden.
- Die Erfindung wird durch die folgenden Beispiele veranschaulicht.
- Eine flammhemmende Zusammensetzung wird durch Mischen der folgenden Komponenten in einem Banbury-Mischer bei 180º C für eine Dauer von 10 Min. hergestellt.
- (i) 100 Gew.-Teile eines Ethylen/Ethylacrylat-Copolymers mit einem Schmelzindex von 0,7 g/10 Min. und mit einem Gehalt an 19 Gew. -% Ethylacrylat;
- (ii) 30 Gew.-Teile eines linearen Ethylen mit niederer Dichte/1-Hexen-Copolymers gepfropft (modifiziert) mit 0,5 Gew.- % Maleinsäureanhydrid. Die Dichte des Copolymers ist 0,925 g/cm³ (vor dem Pfropfen);
- (iii) 200 Gew.-Teile Magnesiumhydroxid, oberflächenbehandelt mit Stearinsäure;
- (iv) 0,5 Gew.-Teile eines Antioxidationsmittels, z. B. Tetrakis[methylen-3(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl) propionat]methan und
- (v) 2,5 Gew.-Teile Ruß.
- Die Zusammensetzung wird pelletiert und die erhaltenen Pellets zu 1 oder 3 mm dicken, 150 mm langen und 180 mm breiten Platten geformt, und zwar durch Heißpressen bei 150º C bei einem Druck von 100 kg/m² für eine Dauer von 3 Min., nachdem 5 Min. lang auf 150º C vorerhitzt worden war.
- Aus der Platte wurden rechteckige und hantelförmige Testproben gestanzt.
- Es wurden das Flammverzögerungsvermögen, die Verarbeitbarkeit, die Zugfestigkeit und die Dehnung der Testproben bewertet. Die Ergebnisse werden in der Tabelle angegeben.
- Beispiel 1 wird wiederholt mit der Ausnahme, daß die Komponenten variiert werden. Die Veränderungen und Ergebnisse werden in der Tabelle gezeigt.
- Die Mengen der Komponenten werden in der Tabelle als Gewichtsteile angegeben. Die Zahlen in Klammern beziehen sich auf die "Anmerkungen zur Tabelle". Tabelle Beispiel Thermoplastisches Harz Ethylen/Ethylacrylat-Copolymer (1) Ethylen/1-Buten-Copolymer (2) Säure-modifiziertes Copolymer Säure-modif. lineares Ethylen mit niederer Dichte/1-Hexen-Copolymer (3) Säure-modif. lineares Ethylen mit superniederer Dichte/1-Hexen-Copolymer (4) Säure-modif. lineares Ethylen mit niederer Dichte/1-Octen-Copolymer (5) Säure-modif. Hockdruck-Polyethylen mit niederer Dichte (6) Säure-modif. lineares Ethylen mit niederer Dichte/1-Buten-Copolymer (7) Ethylen mit niederer Kristallinität/α-Olefin-Copolymer Ethylen mit niederer Kristallinität/1-Butan-Copolymer (8) Anorganisches flammhemmendes Mittel Magnesiumhydroxid (9) Magnesiumcarbonat (10) Aluminiumhydroxid Bewertung Flammverzögerung (11) Verarbeitbarkeit (12) Zugfestigkeit (13) Dehnung (13) * = mäßig
- 1. Schmelzindex = 0,7 g/l0 Min.; 19 Gew.-% Ethylacrylat.
- 2. Schmelzindex = 0,8 g/10 Min.; Dichte = 0,906 g/cm³; hergestellt in der Gasphase.
- 3. Schmelzindex = 3 g/10 Min.; Dichte vor dem Pfropfen = 0,925 g/cm³; gepfropft (modifiziert) mit 0,5 Gew.-% Maleinsäureanhydrid.
- 4. Schmelzindex = 5 g/10 Min.; Dichte vor dem Pfropfen = 0,890 g/cm³; gepfropft (modifiziert) mit 0,5 Gew.-% Maleinsäureanhydrid.
- 5. Gepfropft mit 0,5 Gew.-% Maleinsäureanhydrid.
- 6. Schmelzindex = 3,2 g/10 Min.; Dichte vor dem Pfropfen = 0,922 g/cm³; gepfropft (modifiziert) mit 0,5 Gew.-% Maleinsäureanhydrid.
- 7. Schmelzindex = 0,8 g/10 Min.; Dichte vor dem Pfropfen = 0,906 g/cm³; gepfropft (modifiziert) mit 0,5 Gew.-% Maleinsäureanhydrid.
- 8. Kristallinität - 18%.
- 9. Mit Stearinsäure oberflächenbehandelt.
- 10. MgCO&sub3; Mg(OH)&sub2; H&sub2;O
- 11. Ausgedrückt als Sauerstoffindex, bestimmt nach ASTM D-2863.
- 12. Bestimmt durch visuelle Beobachtung der Oberfläche der Probe.
- 13. Bestimmt nach ASTM D-638
- Jede Zusammensetzung enthält die Komponenten (iv) und (v) wie unter Beispiel 1 angegeben.
Claims (17)
1. Zusammensetzung, die umfaßt
(i) ein thermoplastisches Harz;
(ii) ein anorganisches flammhemmendes Mittel;
(iii) ein Copolymer aus Ethylen und entweder 1-Hexen oder
1-Octen, wobei das genannte Copolymer mit einer
ungesättigten organischen Verbindung modifiziert
wurde, die wenigstens eine Carboxylatgruppe
enthält; und
(iv) gegebenenfalls ein Copolymer aus Ethylen und einem
oder mehreren α-Olefinen mit einer Kristallinität
von weniger als 40 Gew.-%.
2. Zusammensetzung nach Anspruch 1, worin für jede 100 Gew.-
Teile des thermoplastischen Harzes folgende Komponenten
in den folgenden Anteilen vorhanden sind:

3. Zusammensetzung nach wenigstens einem der Ansprüche 1 bis
2, worin das thermoplastische Harz ein
Ethylen-Homopolymer oder -Copolymer ist.
4. Zusammensetzung nach wenigstens einem der Ansprüche 1 bis
3, worin das anorganischem flammhemmende Mittel
Magnesiumhydroxid ist.
5. Zusammensetzung nach Anspruch 4, worin das
Magnesiumhydroxid mit einer Fettsäure oder einem Metallsalz einer
Fettsäure oberflächenbehandelt wurde.
6. Zusammensetzung nach wenigstens einem der Ansprüche 4
bis
5, worin das Magnesiumhydroxid einen durchschnittlichen
Teilchendurchmesser im Bereich von 0,1 bis 15 Mikron und
eine Oberfläche im Bereich von 1 bis 20 m² pro Gramm
hat.
7. Zusammensetzung, die umfaßt:
(i) ein thermoplastisches Harz, das ein Ethylen-
Homopolymer oder -Copolymer ist, und
- bezogen auf 100 Gew.-Teile des thermoplastischen
Harzes -
(ii) 60 bis 450 Gew.-Teile eines mit einer Fettsäure
oberflächenbehandelten Magnesiumhydroxids;
(iii)20 bis 80 Gew.-Teile eines Copolymers aus Ethylen
und entweder 1-Hexen oder 1-Octen, wobei das genannte
Copolymer mit einer ungesättigten organischen Verbindung
modifiziert wurde, die wenigstens eine Carboxylatgruppe
enthält; und
(iv) gegebenenfalls 10 bis 40 Gew.-Teile eines
Copolymers aus Ethylen und einem oder mehreren α-Olefinen mit
einer Kristallinität von weniger als 40 Gew.-%.
8. Zusammensetzung nach wenigstens einem der Ansprüche 1 bis
7, die zusätzlich ein organisches
Peroxid-Vernetzungsmittel, z. B. Dicumylperoxid, enthält.
9. Zusammensetzung nach wenigstens einem der Ansprüche 1 bis
7, worin das thermoplstische Harz ein hydrolysierbares
Harz ist.
10. Zusammensetzung nach Anspruch 9, worin das
thermoplastische Harz eine oder mehrere -Si(OR)&sub3;-Gruppen, worin R
eine Hydrocarbylgruppe ist, durch Copolymerisation oder
Aufpfropfen enthält.
11. Zusammensetzung nach Anspruch 10, worin die Silangruppen
von einem Vinyltrialkoxysilan zur Verfügung gestellt
werden.
12. Zusammensetzung nach wenigstens einem der Ansprüche 10
bis 11, worin das Harz ein Copolymer von Ethylen und
Vinyltrimethoxysilan ist.
13. Zusammensetzung nach Anspruch 10, worin die
Silanverbindung, die copolymerisiert oder aufgepfropft wurde, ein
Alkenylalkoxysilan ist.
14. Zusammensetzung nach Anspruch 13, die zusätzlich einen
Silanol-Kondensationskatalysator, z. B.
Dibutylzinn-dilauratl enthält.
15. Elektrischer Leiter, beschichtet mit der Zusammensetzung
nach wenigstens einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 14, z. B. ein
Kabel mit einer äußeren Ummantelung, die die genannte
Zusammensetzung umfaßt.
16. Zusammensetzung nach wenigstens einem der Ansprüche 1 bis
14, die als Beschichtung aufgebracht auf, oder extrudiert
um einen elektrischen Leiter wurde.
17. Formkörper, der die Zusammensetzung nach wenigstens einem
der Ansprüche 1 bis 14 umfaßt.
