Die Erfindung bezieht sich, auf eine verbesserte Schmierfettmasse
und insbesondere auf eine Schmierfettzusammensetzung, die
besonders günstige Eigenschaften für die Schmierung unter Höchstdruck
besitzt. Das Mittel weist einen Zusatz auf, der eine ausgewählte, ölunlösliche Phosphorverbindung und eine öllösliche
Schwefelverbindung enthält.

Es Ist naturgemäß in der einschlägigen Technik allgemein bekannt, daß verschiedene Metallseifen bei der Herstellung von
Schmierfetten unter Verwendung von praktisch irgendeinem Schmiergrundöl als Ausgangsmaterial verwendet werden können
und daß die so hergestellten Fette im allgemeinen gute Schmiereigenschaften
und/oder Schmierkennzeichen aufweisen. Obwohl eine Anzahl von Fettmassen mit verschiedenen Kombinationen von
Metallseifen als Verdickungsmittel und Grundölen hergestellt worden sind, besteht eine besondere Schwierigkeit in der Gewinnung
einer ]?ettmasse, die bei besonders schwierigen Anwendungsgebieten
geeignet ist, wobei Eigenschaften erforderlich sind, die eine Schmierung unter Höchstdruck ermöglichen, wie
z.B. die Schmierung von Lagern von Zugmotoren, Radlagern an Wagen mit Scheibenbremsen, Lagern von Kugelmühlen, Kugellagerverbindungen,
langsam sich drehenden Lagern und dergleichen. Um diese Nachteile zu mildern, sind verschiedene Verfahren
zur Herstellung von Fettmassen bereits vorgeschlagen worden, die die erwünschten Eigenschaften für eine Schmierung unter
Höchstdruck aufweisen. Zu solchen Verfahren gehört die Verwendung verschiedener Höchstdruckzusätze. Zu den vorgeschlagenen
Zusätzen gehören chlorierte Verbindungen, wie chlorierte Wachse, Blei-Schwefel-Systeme, Schwermetallsulfide (feste
Schmiermittel) und lösliche Ehosphor-Schwefel-Systerne. Obwohl
diese Systeme eine gewisse Wirkung bei der Anwendung unter Höchstdruck zeigen, besitzen sie doch verschiedene Nachteile.
Aus diesem Grunde sind chlorierte Verbindungen nicht in größerem Umfange benutzt, da sie zu einer unerwünschten Korrosion

führen können* Ebenso ist die Verwendung von Blei-Schwefel-Systemen
im allgemeinen begrenzt aufgrund der Annahme der neueren Standardvorschriften für den Umweltschutz.
Es wurde nun gefunden, daß eine Schmierfettmasse, die verbesserte
Eigenschaften unter Verwendung von Höchstdruck besitzt, geschaffen werden kann, wenn ihr ein Zusatz beigegeben wird,
der aus einer anorganischen, ölunlöslichen Phosphorverbindung und einer öllösuchen Schwefelverbindung besteht. Im einzelnen
betrifft die Erfindung einen Zusatz zu Schmierölmassen, der aus einer Kombination eines Alkali- oder Erdalkalisalzes
einer Phosphorsäure und einem sulfurierten Kohlenwasserstoff oder einem organo-metallischen Schwefelsalz besteht.
Demgemäß ist es Gegenstand der Erfindung, eine Schmierfettmasse mit verbesserten Eigenschaften unter Höchstdruck zu schaffen.
Ein weiteres Ziel der Erfindung ist die Schaffung eines Zusatzes zu einer Schmierfettmasse, um deren Eigenschaften unter
Höchstdruck und unter besonderer Belastung zu verbessern. Diese und andere Aufgaben und Vorteile werden sich aus der folgenden
Beschreibung ergeben.
Gemäß vorliegender Erfindung werden die vorgenannten und andere Aufgaben und Vorteile mit Hilfe einer Schmierfettmasse erreicht,
die zum größeren Teil aus einem Grundölvorrat, einem Verdikkungsmittel
und einem Zusatz besteht, der mindestens eine ölunlösliche
Phosphorverbindung, nämlich ein Alkali- oder Erd -

alkalisalz einer Phosphorsäure, und mindestens eine öllöslihe
Schwefelverbindung, nämlich sulfurierte Kohlenwasserstoffe
oder organo-metallische Schwefelsäuresalze, enthält.
Wie oben bereits angegeben, bezieht sich die vorliegende Erfindung
auf Fettmassen, die verbesserte Eigenschaften unter
Höchstdruck aufweisen. Diese werden insbesondere durch einen Miehrkomponenten-Zusatz erzielt, der aus mindestens einer unlöslichen
!Phosphorverbindung und mindestens einer löslichen Schwefelverbindung besteht.
Im allgemeinen können in&em mehrkomponenten Additiv gemäß vorliegender
Erfindung als unlösliche Phosphorverbindung Alkalioder Erdalkalisalze der Phosphorsäure verwendet werden. Im
besonderen kann die unlösliche Phosphorverbindung ein Salz eines Alkalis, wie Lithium, Natrium, Kalium oder eines Erdalkalis
wie Calcium, Strontium, Barium oder Magnesium sein. Zu solchen Salzen gehören sowohl die sauren wie die neutralen
Salze der Unterphosphorfensäure, der Phosphoriensäur^, der
Unterphosphorsäure, der Orthophosphorsäure, der Pvrophosphorsäure,
und der Metaphosphorsäure. Da jedoch die Verwendung von
sauren Salzen zu unerwünschten Korrosionen führen kann, wird
die Verwendung von Neutralsalzen bevorzugt. Obwohl zufriedenstellende
Ergebnisse auch dann erzielt werden, wenn ein Alkalioder Erdalkali-Salz oder eine Mischung derselben verwendet
wird, lassen sich die besten Ergebnisse erzielen, wenn ein Calciumsalz einer der phosphorsäuren verwendet wird, insbe-

sondere Tricalciumphosphat.
Im allgemeinen kann jede lösliche, schwefelhaltige Verbindung in der Additivzusammensetzung gemäß vorliegender Erfindung
verwendet werden. Zu den löslichen Schwefelverbindungen, die zur Verwendung gemäß vorliegender Erfindung geeignet sind,
gehören insbesondere sulfurierte Kohlenwasserstoffe und organometallische Schwefelsalze. Zu Verbindungen dieser Art gehören
die gesättigten und ungesättigten, aliphatischen und ebenso die aromatischen Derivate, die im allgemeinen 1 bis 32, vorzugsweise
1 bis 22 Kohlenstoffatome, enthalten. Zu der Gruppe der öllöslichen Schwefelverbindungen gehören auch Alkylsulfide
und -polysulfide, aromatische Sulfide und -polysulfide, z.B. Benzylsulfid und Benzyldisulfid, ferner organometallische
Salze verschiedener schwefelhaltiger Säuren, wie die Meutralsalze
von Dialkyldithiophosphorsäure, z.B. Zinkdialkyldithiophosphat
ebenso wie phosphorsulfurierte Kohlenwasserstoffe und
sulfurierte Öle und Fette. Sulfurierte und phosphorsulfurierte Verbindungen verschiedener Polyolefine sind besonders wirksam.
Eine besonders geeignete Gruppe^ulfurierter Olefine oder Polyolefine
sind solche, die aus aliphatischen oder terpenischen Olefinen mit einer Gesamtzahl von 10 bis 32 Kohlenstoffatomen
im Molekül gewonnen sind; diese Verbindungen werden im allgemeinen in der Weise sulfuriert, daß sie 10 bis 60 Gew.-# Schwefel
enthalten. Zu den aliphatischen Olefinen gehören auch gemischte Olefine, wie gekrackte Wachse, gekrackte Vaseline oder

einzelne Olefine, wie Tridecen-2, Octadecen-1, Eikosen-1 oder
auch. Polymere von aliphatischen Olefinen mit 2 bis 5 Kohlenstoffatomen
im Monomeren, wie Äthylen, Propylen, Butylen, Isobutylen und Penten. Zu den terpenischen Olefinen gehören Terpene
der Formel: (0,.,^ELg), Sesquiterpene der Formel:( G,. ,-Hp^, ) und
Diterpene der Formel: (^οηΒ-χο)· ^on ^en ^erPenen sind die monozyklischen
Terpene der allgemeinen Formel: 0,-qH,.,- und ihre
monozyklischen Isomeren besonders wertvoll.
Die oben beschriebenen sulfurierten und phosphorsulfurierten
Verbindungen können nach, in der Technik allgemein bekannten Verfahren hergestellt werden. Zu solchen Verfahren gehören die
Reaktion mit Schwefel, insbesondere wenn der Kohlenwasserstoff ungesättigt ist, sowie !Reaktionen mit Phosphorpentasulfid und
ähnlichen Reagentien.
Im allgemeinen können als Fettmassen gemäß vorliegender Erfindung irgendwelche Schmierölgrundstoffe verwendet werden, die
- wie bekannt - zur Herstellung von Fettmassen günstig sind. Zu solchen Grundölen gehören die üblicherweise verwendeten
Mineralöle, synthetische Kohlenwasserstofföle und synthetische Esteröle. Im allgemeinen besitzen diese Schmieröle eine Viskosität
in der Größenordnung von 35 bis 300 SÜS bei 99°0. Als mineralische Schmierölgrundstoffe, die bei der Herstellung der
Fette verwendet werden, können irgendwelche in üblicher Weise raffinierten Grundöle dienen; diese können von paraffinischen,
naphthenischen oder gemischten rohen Grundstoffen herrühren. Zu den synthetischen Schmierölen, die. verwendet werden können,

gehören Ester zweibasischer Säuren, z.B. Di-2-äthylhexylsebacatester
von Glycolen, wie z.B. Oxosäurediester von Tetraäthylenglycol
mit 13 Kohlenstoffatomen im Säurerest oder komplexe
Ester, beispielsweise solche, die aus 1 Mol Sebacinsäure und 2 Molen Tetraäthylenglycol mit 2 Molen 2-Äthylhexanonsäure
gebildet sind. Zu weiteren verwendbaren, synthetischen Ölen gehören synthetische Kohlenwasserstoffe, wie Alkylbenzole
beispielsweise alkylierte Reste von der Alkylierung von Benzol mit Tetrapropylen, oder die Polymeren und Mischpolymeren von
Olefinen; ferner Siliconöle beispielsweise Ithylphenylpolysiloxane,
Methy!polysiloxane und dergleichen; weiterhin PoIyglycolöle
z.B. solche, die durch Kondensation von Butylalkohol mit Propylenoxid gewonnen sind; ausserdem Garbonatester beispielsweise
das Reaktionsprodukt von Oxoalkoholen mit 8 Kohlenstoffatomen im Molekül mit Äthylcarbonat unter Bildung eines
Halbesters mit anschließender Umsetzung des letzteren mit Tetraäthylenglycol und dergleichen. Zu sonstigen brauchbaren,
synthetischen ölen gehören schließlich PoIyphenylather, beispielsweise
solche, die etwa 3 bis 7 Itherbindungen und etwa
4 bis 8 Phenylgruppen aufweisen, wie sie beispielsweise im US-Patent Nr. 3 424- 678 Spalte 3 beschrieben sind.
Wie bereits oben angegeben, können die Schmierölgrundstoffe, die in den !"ettmassen gemäß vorliegender Erfindung verwendet
werden, im wesentlichen mit irgendeinem Verdickungsmittel, das sich nach dem Stande der Technik als wirkungsvoll erwiesen hat,
angedickt werden. Zu solchen Terdickungsmitteln gehören die

Alkali- und Erdalkali- und Aluminiumseifen, insbesondere solche
von Natrium, Lithium, Calcium, Barium und Aluminium. Wie allgemein bekannt, können solche Seifen mit irgendwelchen Fettsäuren
sowie mit Estern dieser Fettsäuren hergestellt werden. Wie ebenfalls allgemein bekannt ist, können diese Ester substituierte
Polare Gruppen wie Epoxy-, Hydroxy-Reste und dergleichen
enthalten. Diese Seifen können übrigens sowohl allein, in Mischungen oder in Kombination mit anderen Zusätzen angewendet
werden, von denen es bekannt ist«, daß sie die Verdickung oder das hierbei erzielte Produkt verbessern.
Wie allgemein bekannt ist, wird die Verdickung im allgemeinen dadurch erzeugt, daß man zwischen etwa 2 und etwa 40 Gew.-%
des Verdickungsmittels mit der Grundölmasse kombiniert. Die Grundöl-Seifenkombination wird dann auf eine Temperatur innerhalb
des Bereichs von etwa 75° 0 "bis etwa 275°C erhitzt, zwischen
etwa 10 und 60 Minuten auf dieser Temperatur gehalten und dann abgekühlt. Das Verdickungsmittel kann auch "in situ"
dadurch gebildet werden, daß man eine geeignete Fettsäure oder deren Mischung dem Öl zusetzt, worauf eine Neutralisation mit
einem oder mehreren passenden Alkalien, Erdalkalien oder Aluminiumverbindungen erfolgt. Naturgemäß wird im allgemeinen
Lithiumhydroxid verwendet, um die Neutralisation zu bewirken. Wenn man ein solches Verfahren anwendet, wird das Wasser während
der Erhitzung abgetrieben.
I» allgemeinen kann die Zusatzkombination gemäß der Erfindung

dem Fett im wesentlichen in irgendeiner geeigneten Weise einverleibt
werden. Beispielsweise können beide Zusätze dem Grundöl zugesetzt werden, bevor oder nachdem die Verdickung
vervollständigt ist. In diesem Zusammenhang sei bemerkt, daß die besten Ergebnisse erzielt werden, wenn beide Zusätze hinzugefügt
werden, nachdem die Verdickung vervollständigt ist, jedoch während das verdickte Fett noch sich auf erhöhter Temperatur
befindet; im allgemeinen bei einer Temperatur zwischen etwa 50°und 135°G· Das Fett kann naturgemäß gerührt und/oder
gemahlen werden, um eine gleichmäßige Verteilung zu erreichen. Der Zusatz des Doppelkomponentenadditivs, nachdem die Verdikkung
vervollständigt ist, vermeidet naturgemäß irgendwelche störende Beeinflussung auf die ITeutralisierung.
Das unlösliche Alkali- oder Erdalkalisalz einer phosphorhaltigen
Säure wird im allgemeinen dem Fett in einer Konzentration innerhalb eines Bereichs von etwa 0,3 bis etwa 15 %t vorzugsweise
von etwa 0,5 bis etwa 5»0 Gew.-#, auf das Gesamtgewicht der Fettmasse berechnet, zugesetzt. Die lösliche Schwefelverbindung
ihrerseits wird mit dem Fett in einer Konzentration innerhalb eines Bereichs von etwa 0,05 bis etwa 5 #» vorzugsweise von
etwa 0,1 bis etwa 3 Gew.-#, vermischt.
Bei einer bevorzugten Ausführungsform wird ein neutrales Oal—
ciumsalz der Phosphorsäure, insbesondere Tricalciumphosphat, in Kombination mit einem sulfurierten Olefinpolymerisat verwendet,
das etwa 40 bis etwa 50 Gew.-# Schwefel enthält. Die

fertige Additivkombination wird als Höchstdruckmittel in einer
Fettmasse verwendet, die mit LithiumT, oder Aluminiumseife
verdickt vorden ist. In diesem Zusammenhang sei für die Zwecke der Erfindung vermerkt, daß bei einer "besonders bevorzugten
Ausführungsform das Fett mit einer Lithiumseife angedickt ist, die aus einer Fettsäure gebildet ist, welche eine funktionell«
Gruppe aufweist, mindestens einer Dilithiumseife^ die aus einer
geradkettigen Oiearbonsaure gebildet ist.
Vorzugsweise handelt eis sieh bei der Fettsäure um eine Hydroxysubstituierte
Fettsäure mit etwa 8 bis etwa 30 Kohlenstoffatomen^
indessen können auch Epoxy-substituierte Säuren und/oder äthylenisch ungesättigte Fettsäuren in einer ¥eise verwendet
werden, wie sie im US-Patent 3 985 662 beschrieben ist. Bei
einer besonders bevorzugten Ausführungsform wird 12-Hydrostearinsäure
zur Herstellung der Monolithiumseife verwendet.
Die bei einer besonders bevorzugten Ausführungsform zur Herstellung
der Dilithiumseife verwendeten Dicarbonsäure besitzen 4 bis 12 Kohlenstoff atome, am besten 6 bis iO kohlenstoff atome.
Zu solchen Säuren gehören Bernsteinsäure, Glutarsäure, Adipinsäure,
Korksäure, Pimelinsäure, Azelainsäure, Dodecandionsäure und Sebacinsäure. Sebacin- und Azelainsäure werden besonders
bevorzugt.
Weitere bevorzugte Auaführungsformen sowie eine Beschreibung
der Herstellungsverfahren der oben angegebenen, bevorzugten

Lithiumseife sind in dem oben erwähnten US-Patent 3 985 662
beschrieben.
Nachdem die vorliegende Erfindung nun beschrieben ist, wird angenommen, daß dieselbe noch deutlicher wird durch Bezugnahme
auf die folgenden Beispiele^ die zum Zwecke der Erläuterung aufgenommen sind, aber in keiner Hinsicht den Schutzumfang der
Erfindung begrenzen.
Bei diesem Beispiel werden:
4,4 Teile des 12-Hydroxystearinsäuretriglycerids und
4,4 Teile Tallölfettsäure zu 66,3 Teilen eines naphthenisehen
Grundöles mit einer Yiskosität von etwa 500 SUS bei 18°ö
zugesetzt; anschließend wird die Masse mit 1,4 Teilen Lithiumhydroxid
neutralisiert. Die entstandene Masse wird dann auf eine Temperatur von 1520O 5 Minuten lang erhitzt, worauf
20,o Teile eines entwachsten paraffinbasischen Öles mit einer Tiskosität von 210 SUS bei 99°C zugesetzt werden. Die entstandene
Fettmasse wird dann auf Zimmertemperatur gekühlt und vermählen.
3,o Teile Triealcxumphosphat und 1,o Teil eines sulfurierten
Polybutylens (eines Produktes der Firma Lubrizol Corp.,
das unter dem Warenzeichen 'Anglamol 32' verkauft wird) werden anschließend zugesetzt. Das sulfurierte Polybutylen enthält
etwa 45 Gew.—% Schwefel. Wenn die Mischung vervollständigt ist,
unterwirft man sie dem sogenannten Timken-Test nach ASTM D 2509 zunächst bei einer Belastung von 1,8 kg und anschließend bei

2,3 kg. Der Timken-Test bestellt in einer Versuchsanordnung, bei
der ein Ring gegenüber einem feststellenden Klotz bei einer gegebenen Belastung in Drehung versetzt wird. Der Versuch, wird
bei Zimmertemperatur innerhalb einer Zeitdauer von 10 Minuten durchgeführt. Im Anschluß an diesen Versuch wird der Versuchsklotz geprüft} wenn keine Spuren einer Abnutzung festzustellen
sind, wird angenommen, daß das Fett für eine solche Belastung geeignet ist.
Das nach diesem Beispiel hergestellte Fett enthielt Tricalciumphosphat
und sulfuriertes Polybutylen in einem Gewichtsverhältnis von 3 : 1; es bestand den Timken-Test sowohl bei
einer Belastung von 1,8 als auch bei einer Belastung von 2,3kg.
Bei diesem Beispiel wurde aus Gründen des Vergleichs eine Masse hergestellt, die derjenigen des Beispiels 1 identisch
wark mit dem Unterschied, daß kein sulfuriertes Polybutylen verwendet wurde. Das erhaltene Fett bestand den Timken-Test
weder bei einer Belastung von 1,8 noch einer solchen von 2,3kg.
Bei diesem Beispiel wurde wiederum eine Masse hergestellt, die derjenigen des Beispiels 1 gleich war mit dem Unterschied, daß
das Tricalciumphosphat weggelassen wurde. Die erhaltene Masse bestand zwar den Timken-Test bei einer Belastung von 1,8 kg,
aber nicht bei einer solchen von 2,3 kg.

Bei diesem Beispiel wurde eine der Masse des Beispiels 1 gleiche Zusammensetzung hergestellt mit dem Unterschied, daß
eine gleiche Gewichtsmenge von Zinkdialkyldithiophosphat an-',
stelle des Polybutylens eingesetzt wurde. Das Dialkyldithiophosphat besaß einen Schwefelgehalt von 18,2 %, einen Phosphorgehalt
von 9»o % und einen Zinkgehalt von 10,4 %. Die erhaltene
Masse bestand zwar den ümken-Test bei einer Belastung von 1,8
kg, aber nicht bei einer solchen von 2,3 kg.
Bei diesem Beispiel wurde zu Vergleichszwecken eine Masse hergestellt,
die derjenigen des Beispiels 4 identisch war mit dem Unterschied, daß Tricalciumphosphat weggelassen wurde. Die
erhaltene Masse bestand den Timken-Test weder bei einer Belastung
von 1,8 kg noch einer solchen von 2,3 kg.
Nach den vorstehenden Angaben ist es offenbar leicht zu ersehen, daß die Verwendung einer unlöslichen Phosphorverbindung
wie Tricalciumphosphat in Kombination mit einem sulfurierten Olefinpolymerisat wie sulfuiertem Polybutylen überraschende
und unerwartete Höchstdruckeigenschaften verleihen, wenn sie
in einer Pettmasse verwendet werden; ähnliche Eigenschaften
werden erzielt, wenn Zinkdialkyldithiophosphat anstelle von sulfuriertem Polybutylen angewendet wird.

Claims (11)
1. Schmierfettmasse "bestellend aus einem größeren
Anteil an Grundöl, einem Verdickungsmittel und einer Additivmischung aus einer ölunlöslichen,
Phosphorverbindung, nämlich Alkali- oder Erdalkalisalzen
von Phosphorsäuren,und einer öllös liehen
Schwefelverbindung, nämlich sulfurierten Kohlenwasserstoffen und organometallisehen
Schwefelsalzen.
2. Masse nach Anspruch 1, bei der die Schwefelverbindung 1 bis 32 Kohlenstoffatome enthält.
3· Masse nach Anspruch 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Phosphorverbindung ein Alkali-^- oder
Erdalkalisalz darstellt, nämlich ein Lithium-, Natrium-, Kalium-, Calcium-, Strontium-, Bariumöder
Magnesiumsalz.
4. Masse nach Anspruch 3» dadurch gekennzeichnet,
daß sie etwa 0,3 bis etwa 15 Gew.-% der Phosphorverbindung
und etwa 0,05 bis etwa 5 Gew.-% der
Schwefelverbindung enthält, beide male auf das Gesamtgewicht der Masse gerechnet.

5- Masse nach. Anspruch. 4, dadurch, gekennzeichnet,
daß die Schwefelverbindung ein sulfuriertes Olefin darstellt, das aus aliphatischen oder
terpenischen Olefinen mit ΊΟ bis 32 Kohlenstoffatomen
gewonnen ist.
6. Masse nach Anspruch 5j dadurch gekennzeichnet,
daß das Verdickungsmittel aus einer Lithium— oder Aluminiumseife besteht.
7- Masse nach Anspruch 6, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Phosphorverbindung aus Tricalciumphosphat
besteht.
8. Masse nach Anspruch 7» dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Schwefelverbindung aus sulfuriertem
Polybutylen besteht.
9· Masse nach Anspruch 6, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Schwefelverbindung aus Zinkdialkyldithiophosphat
besteht.
10. Masse nach Anspruch 9, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Phosphorverbindung aus Tricalciumphosphat
besteht.

11. Masse nach Anspruch 8, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß sie etwa 0,5 his etwa 5, ο Gew.-% der Phosphorverhindung
und etwa 0,1 bis etwa 3»o Gew.%
der Schwefelverhindung enthält, beide berechnet
auf das Gesamtgewicht der Masse.
