Abstract

1,189,837. Lubricant. MOLYKOTE PRODUKTIONS G.m.b.H. 10 Aug., 1967 [30 Aug., 1966], No. 36771/67. Heading C5F. A lubricant for preventing fretting corrosion of bearings comprises a lubricating base and 15-50 wt. per cent of a solid lubricant, 2-10 per cent of a polyfluoroaliphatic compound such as polytetrafluoroethylene, and 1-8% of an amine salt of a fatty acid such as tall oil diaminedioleate. Suitable lubricating bases are mineral oils and mineral greases, alkali metal soaps of fatty acids, natural and synthetic waxes such as beeswax, carnauba wax, ceresites, ozocerites, and synthetic lubricating oils. Suitable solid lubricants are molybdenum disulphide, graphite and tricalcium phosphate. Up to 8% of zinc oxide and/or up to 5% of an aliphatic polyether such as polyethylene glycol and polypropylene glycol may be added.
