Beschreibung
Die Erfindung betrifft eine stabilisierte, synthetische Polymerzusammensetzung, die dadurch gekennzeichnet ist,
daß sie enthält:
(1) 100 Gew.Teile eines synthetischen Polymeren,
(2) 0,001 bis 5 Gew.Teile eines Poly-(alkylierten Alkenylphenols), das im wesentlichen die durch die folgende
Formel (i) dargestellten monomeren Einheiten enthält

R. eine Alkylgruppe mit 1 bis 18 Kohlenstoffatomen
bedeutet und
R2 ein Wasserstoffatom oder eine Alkylgruppe mit 1
bis 18 Kohlenstoffatomen bedeutet,
und
und
(3) 0,001 bis 5 Gew.Teile eines HilfStabilisators,
ausgewählt aus der Gruppe, die enthält: polyhydrische Alkoholester
von Alkylthioalkansäuren, Polyester von Thiodipropionsäure und organische Phosphitverbindungen.
Die Erfindung betrifft stabilisierte, synthetische Polymerzusammensetzungen, die enthalten: (1) ein synthetisches
Polymer, (2) als Stabilisator ein Poly-(alkyliertes Alkeny!phenol) mit einer spezifischen Formel und (3) als

Hilf ε stabilisator eine spezifische organische Schwefelverbindung
oder eine organische Phosphitverbindung.
Es' ist bekannt, daß synthetische Harze, wie Polyäthylen,
Polypropylen und Polyvinylchlorid, gegenüber der Zersetzung durch Sauerstoff bei der Einwirkung von Luft oder
bei hoher Temperatur empfindlich sind. Es ist weiterhin bekannt,
daß diese Zersetzung zu einer Verfärbung der synthetischen Harze führt oder ihre mechanische Festigkeit verringert
und daß die Harze nutzlos werden. Es besteht daher ein
großer Bedarf nach Antioxydantien, die diese synthetischen Harze vor der Zersetzung durch Oxydation schützen, und verschiedene Antioxydantien wurden in der Vergangenheit zu
synthetischen Harzen zugegeben. Von den bis heute verwendeten Antioxydantien haben die phenolischen Antioxydantien,
wie 2,6-Di-tert.-butyl-p-cresol und Butyliden-bis-2-tert.-butyl-5-methy!phenol,
eine große Wirkung und werden vielfach verwendet.
Diese phenolischen Antioxydantien besitzen jedoch den Nachteil, daß sie sich während der Verarbeitung bei hohen
Temperaturen verflüssigen, aus den Harzen durch Wasser, Öle usw. leicht extrahiert werden oder die Harze verfärben. Sie
können daher nur zur Stabilisierung von Harzen während sehr kurzer Zeiten verwendet werden. Zur Beseitigung dieser Nachteile
hat man Versuche unternommen, das Molekulargewicht der Stabilisatoren zu erhöhen, und ein Kondensat aus Phenol und
Formaldehyd mit niedrigem Molekulargewicht wurde vorgeschlagen. Da jedoch diese Verbindungen eine geringe stabilisierende Wirkung
besitzen und die Harze stark, verfärben, sind sie für
praktische Anwendungen nicht geeignet.
In der GB-PS 971 753 wird die Zugabe eines Poly-(alkylierten
Alkenylphenole) als Antioxydans zu Kautschuk beschrieben. Jedoch zeigt das Poly-(alkylierte Alkenylphenol) keine

hohe stabilisierende Wirkung, wenn es allein zu Kautschuk oder einem Harz zugegeben wird.
Der vorliegenden Erfindung liegt die Aufgabe zugrunde, eine stabilisierte, synthetische Polymerzusammensetzung zu
schaffen.
Erfindungsgemäß soll eine stabilisierte Polymerzusammensetzung
geschaffen werden, die während langer Zeit gut stabilisiert ist.
Erfindungsgemäß soll eine stabilisierte, synthetische Polymerzusammensetzung geschaffen werden, die einen Stabilisator
enthält, der von der Zusammensetzung während der Verarbeitung bei hohen Temperaturen nur in geringem Ausmaß verdampft,
mit Wasser, Ölen usw. nur wenig extrahiert wird und das synthetische Polymer nur in geringem Ausmaß verfärbt. Das
bei der vorliegenden Erfindung als Stabilisator verwendete Poly-(alkylierte Alkenylphenol) unterscheidet sich von den
bekannten Antioxydantien, und selbst wenn die von ihm verwendete Menge verringert wird, findet keine extreme Verringerung
in uer Stabilisierwirkung statt.
Die erfindungsgemäße stabilisierte, synthetische Polymerzusammensetzung
enthält:
(1) 100 Gew.Teile eines synthetischen Polymeren,
(2) als Stabilisator 0,001 bis 5 Gew.Teile, vorzugsweise
0,01 bis 1 Gew.Teil, eines Poly-(alkylierten Alkenylphenols), das im wesentlichen monomere Einheiten enthält,
die durch die folgende Formel (I)

Geeignete polyhydrische bzw. mehrwertige Alkoholester von Alkylthioalkansäuren, die als HilfsStabilisatoren (3) verwendet
werden können, sind solche, die durch die folgende Formel (II) dargestellt werden. Geeignete Polyester der
Thiodipropionsäure, die als Hilfsstabilisator (3) verwendet werden können, werden durch die folgenden Formeln (III) und
(IV) dargestellt, und geeignete organische Phosphitverbindungen, die als Hilfsstabilisator (3) verwendet werden können,

Wenn das Poly-(alkylierte Alkenylphenol) und der Hilfsstabilisator einzeln zu dem synthetischen Polymeren zugegeben
werden, ist die erhaltene stabilisierende Wirkung nicht hoch. Jedoch wird, wenn das Poly-(alkylierte Alkenyl-

phenol) und der Hilfsstabilisator gemeinsam verwendet werden,
die stabilisierende Wirkung auf das Polymer synergistisch erhöht .
Die Verbindungen der Formeln (i), (II), (ill), (IV),
(V) und (VI) werden im folgenden näher erläutert.
Beispiele geeigneter Alkylgruppen mit 1 bis 4 Kohlenstoffatomen umfassen geradkettige und verzweigtkettige Alkylgruppen,
Methyl-, Äthyl-, Propyl-, Isopropyl-, n-Butyl-, sek.-Butyl-, tert.-Butyl- und Isobutylgruppen. Beispiele geeigneter
Alkylgruppen mit 1 bis 18 Kohlenstoffatomen umfassen geradkettige, verzweigtkettige und cyclische Alkylgruppen,
wie Pentyl, Hexyl, Heptyl, n-Octyl, Isooctyl, tert.-Octyl,
2-Äthylhexyl, Nonyl, Decyl, Undecyl, Dodecyl, Tridecyl, Tetradecyl,
Pentadecyl, Hexadecyl, Heptadecyl, Octadecyl, Cyclopentyl und Cyclohexyl zusätzlich zu den oben als Beispiele
für Alkylgruppen mit 1 bis 4 Kohlenstoffatomen aufgeführten Alkylgruppen. Beispiele geeigneter Alkylgruppen mit 1 bis
30 Kohlenstoffatomen umfassen geradkettige, verzweigtkettige und cyclische Alkylgruppen, wie Eicosyl, Docosyl, Tetracosyl,
und Triacontyl zusätzlich zu den Alkylgruppen, die oben als Beispiele für Alkylgruppen mit 1 bis 18 Kohlenstoffatomen genannt
wurden.
Geeignete Beispiele von Alkylengruppen mit 1 bis 3 Kohlenstoffatomen umfassen Methylen-, Äthylen- und Propylengruppen.
Beispiele geeigneter Arylgruppen sind solche, die 6 bis 30 Kohlenstoffatome enthalten, die monocyclisch oder bicyclisch
sein können, wie Phenyl-, Biphenyl- und Naphthylgruppen.

Beispiele geeigneter Alkylarylgruppen sind solche mit
7 bis 30 Kohlenstoffatomen, in denen der Alkylmolekülteil geradkettig oder verzweigtkettig sein kann und in denen der
Arylmolekülteil monocyclisch oder Mcyclisch sein kann, wie
Methylphenyl-, tert.-Butylphenyl-, Cyclohexylphenyl-, Octylphenyl-,
Nonylphenyl-, a-Butylnaphthyl-, ß-Butylnaphthyl-,
cc-Methylnaphthyl- und ß-Methylnaphthylgruppen.
Geeignete Beispiele von Arylalkylgruppen sind solche mit 7 bis 30 Kohlenstoffatomen, in denen der Alkylmolekülteil
geradkettig oder verzweigtkettig sein kann und in denen der Arylmolekülteil monocyclisch oder bicyclisch sein kann, wie
Benzyl-, Phenyläthyl-, Phenylpropyl-, Naphthylmethyl- und Naphthyläthylgruppen.
Beispiele geeigneter Reste von Äthylenglykolmonoäthern und Reste von Diäthylenglykolmonoäthern umfassen
Methyl-, Äthyl-, Propyl-, Butyl-, Octyl- oder Phenyl-Cellosolves

Ein bevorzugtes Molekulargewicht des bei der Erfindung verwendeten Poly-(alkylierten Alkenylphenole) beträgt etwa
5000 bis etwa 30 000 und wegen der Flüchtigkeitsfähigkeit,
Stabilisierungswirkung und Verträglichkeit mit Harzen sind Molekulargewichte von 1000 bis 20 000 besonders bevorzugt.
Das Poly-(alkylierte Alkenylphenol) ist ein mono- oder dialkyliertes Produkt eines Polymeren eines Alkenylphenole
der allgemeinen Formel (VIl)

worin R ein Wasserstoffatom oder eine lineare oder verzweigt kettige
Alkylgruppe mit 1 bis 4 Kohlenstoffatomen bedeutet. Polyalkeny!phenole, die durch die allgemeine Formel (VIl) dargestellt
werden, werden in den US-PSen 4 028 340 und 4 032 sowie in J.Chem.Soc, C 1968 (8), 996-9, beschrieben. Spezifische
Beispiele von Polyalkenylphenolen der allgemeinen Fornel
(VII) sind Polyviny!phenol (Polyhydroxystyrol), Poly-amethyIviny!phenol,
Poly-a-äthylvinylphenol, Poly-a-n-propylvinylphenol,
PoIy-a-isopropyIviny!phenol, Poly-cc-n-butylvinylphenol
und Poly-a-isobutyIvinylphenol. Die hydrolysierten
Produkte davon, wie ein Polyacyloxystyrol oder ein PoIyalkoxystyrol,
können ebenfalls verwendet werden.
Das bei der vorliegenden Erfindung verwendete PoIy-(alkylierte
Alkenylphenol) kann leicht nach einem Verfahren synthetisiert werden, bei dem das Polyalkenylphenol mit einem
Alkylierungsmittel, wie Äthylen, Propylen oder Isobutylen, alkyliert wird; oder nach einem Verfahren entsprechend dem
in Polymer Letters Edition, Band 14, Seiten 463-465 (1976), beschriebenen Verfahren, bei dem ein acetyliertes Alkylalkenylphenol
polymerisiert und das erhaltene Polymer hydrolysiert wird; oder gemäß einem Verfahren, wie es in Makromol.
Chem. T75, S.791-810 (1974), beschrieben wird, bei dem ein
alkyliertes Alkenylphenol synthetisiert und das alkylierte Alkenylphenol polymerisiert wird. Das zuerst beschriebene Verfahren
ist besonders bevorzugt, da das Verfahren leicht durchzuführen ist und das Endprodukt in guten Ausbeuten erhalten
wird. Insbesondere umfaßt das erste Verfahren die Dispersion
eines Polyalkenylphenols als Ausgangsmaterial (das nach den in den US-PSen 4 028 340 und 4 032 513 beschriebenen
Verfahren hergestellt werden kann) in einem Lösungsmittel,
wie Benzol, Toluol etc., und Durchblasen bzw. Durchleiten ei-

etwa 5 Minuten bis etwa 24 Stunden, bevorzugt 1 bis 12 Stunden, unter Bildung von Poly-(alkyliertem Alkenylphenol),
Eine bevorzugte, in dem Lösungsmittel vorhandene Menge an Polyalkenylphenol beträgt etwa 1 bis 50 Ge\f.%. Eine bevorzugte
Menge an Katalysator beträgt etwa 1 bis 10 Gew.%, bezogen auf das Gewicht des Polyalkenylphenols.
Die Synthese des bei der vorliegenden Erfindung verwendeten Poly-(alkylierten Alkenylphenols) wird in dem folgenden
Synthesebeispiel näher erläutert. Sofern nicht anders angegeben, sind alle Teile, Prozentgehalte, Verhältnisse und
ähnliche Angaben durch das Gewicht ausgedrückt.
6,2 g Poly-p-vinylphenol mit einem zahlendurchschnittlichen
Molekulargewicht von 5000 und 0,3 g p-Toluolsulfonsäure
werden in 300 ml Toluol dispergiert. Die Dispersion wird auf 70°C erhitzt und Isobutylengas wird in die Dispersion eingeblasen.
Die Reaktion wird während 3 h durchgeführt, während
Isobutylengas in die Dispersion eingeblasen bzw. durchgeperlt wird. Das Reaktionsgemisch wird auf Zimmertemperatur (etwa
20 bis 300C) abgekühlt, und eine geringe Menge an unlöslichem
Material wird abfiltriert. Das Filtrat wird mit einer 10 gew.?oigen wäßrigen Lösung aus Natriumhydrogencarbonat gewaschen,
und dann wird das Toluol abdestilliert. Umkristallisation des Rückstands aus Äthanol-Wasser (1:4,ausgedrückt
durch das Volumen) ergibt einen braunen Feststoff mit einem Schmelzpunkt von 133°C [Stabilisator (1)].

Tabelle aufgeführten Stabilisatoren synthetisiert, indem man die Art und das Molekulargewicht des als Ausgangsmaterial
verwendeten Polyalkenylphenols und die Art des verwendeten Alkylierungsmittels ändert.

Die synthetischen Polymere, die erfindungsgemäß stabilisiert werden können, Timfassen weiterhin vernetzte Polymere,
wie vernetztes Polyäthylen, hergestellt durch Vernetzen mit Peroxiden oder ionisierender Bestrahlung, und geschäumte
Polymere, wie geschäumtes Polystyrol, hergestellt durch Schäumen mit Treibmitteln. Ein geeigneter Molekulargewichtsbereich für das erfindungsgemäße stabilisierte, synthetische
Polymer beträgt etwa 1000 bis etwa 1 000 000, vorzugsweise 10 000 bis 500 000.
Die OxydationsStabilität der erfindungsgemäßen Polymerzusammensetzung
kann weiter verbessert werden, indem man zusätzlich weitere phenolische Antioxydantien verwendet. Eine
geeignete Menge davon beträgt etwa 0,001 bis etwa 5 Gew.Teile/1 00 Gew.Teile synthetischem Polymer. Geeignete Beispiele

Beispiele anderer, Schwefel enthaltender Antioxydantien, die
verwendet werden können, sind Dilauryl-, Dimyristyl- und Distearyl-thiodipropionate.
Eine weitere Phosphorverbindung kann ebenfalls in der
erfindungsgemäßen Polymerzusammensetzung zur Verbesserung der Licht- und Wärmebeständigkeit der Polymerzusammensetzung
verwendet werden. Eine geeignete Menge davon beträgt etwa 0,001 bis etwa 5 Gew.Teile/100 Gew.Teile synthetischem Polymer.

kann in einer Menge von etwa 30 bis 60 Gew.Teilen/ 100 Gew.Teile synthetischem Polymer zugegeben werden. Ein
Flammschutzmittel, wie Hexabrombenzol, Tetrabrombisphenol A
und Antimontrioxid, kann in einer Menge von etwa 5 bis 30 Gew.-Teilen/100
Gew..Teile synthetischem Polymer zugegeben werden. Ein Metalldeaktivierungsmittel, wie Hydrazidsalicylat, Oxanilid
und N-Salicyloyl-N'-salicyliden-hydrazin, ein Kern- bzw. Keimbildungsmittel,
wie 4-tert.-Buty!benzoesäure, Adipinsäure und
Diphenylessigsäure, eine Metallseife, wie Calciumstearat, Zinkstearat und Bariumstearat, eine organische Zinnverbindung,
wie Dibutylzinnmaleat und Dibutylzinndilaurat, eine Epoxyverbindung,
wie epoxydierte Fettöle, ein Pigment, wie Ruß, PbCrO^
und MnpCPO^),, ein Füllstoff, wie Calciumcarbonat und Ton,
ein Schäumungsmittel, wie Natriumbicarbonat, Butan, Azodicarbonamid
und ein Diisocyanat, ein antistatisches Mittel, wie ein kationisches oberflächenaktives Mittel, ein Schmiermittel, wie Montansäure (montanic acid) und Stearinsäure, können
ebenfalls zugegeben werden, jeweils in einer Menge von etwa 0,005 bis 5 Gew.Teilen/100 Gew.Teile synthetischem Polymer.
Bei der Herstellung der erfindungsgemäßen stabilisierten Polymer zusammensetzung können die Komponenten (1) bis (3),
wie beschrieben, einfach durch Verkneten, z,B. unter Verwendung einer Mischwalze, bei einer Temperatur, die höher als der
Erweichungspunkt des synthetischen PolymerenM^ vermischt werden.

Die folgenden Beispiele erläutern die Erfindung.
Die Komponenten in jeder der im folgenden angegebenen Rezepturen werden unter Verwendung einer Mischwalze 5 min
bei 1800C verknetet. Das Gemisch wird bei 1800C und 250 kg/cn'
während 5 min unter Herstellung von 1 mm dicken Testproben preßverformt.

Die Wärmestabilität der Testproben wird in einem Geerofen bei 16O°C bestimmt.Zehn Testproben aus dem gleichen
Formkörper werden verwendet. Die Ergebnisse werden als Zeit angegeben, die vergeht, bis mindestens fünf Testproben verfärbt
sind und wachsartig geworden sind. Der Grad der Vergilbung {%) der Testproben nach der Einwirkung von Bestrahlung
aus einer fluoreszierenden Lampe während 24 h bzw. 72 h wird unter Verwendung eines Hunter-Colorimeters gemessen. Die
Testproben werden weiterhin 7 Tage in heißes Wasser bei 900C
eingetaucht, um die WärmeStabilität zu bestimmen. Die erhaltenen
Ergebnisse sind in der folgenden Tabelle II zusammengefaßt.

Testproben mit einer Größe von 10 χ 20 mm werden aus der Folie bzw. Platte geschnitten, und die Wärmezersetzung
der Proben wird unter Verwendung eines Geerofens in Luft bei
148,5°C auf Aluminiumfolie gemessen. Es werden zehn Testproben,
die aus jeder Folie bzw. Platte hergestellt wurden, verwendet und die Zeit, die vergangen ist, bis mindestens fünf
von ihnen sich verfärbt haben und wachsartig werden, wird bestimmt und wird als Zersetzungszeit in der folgenden Tabelle
III aufgeführt.

Um die Wirkung der erfindungsgemäßen Stabilisatoren auf Polybuten zu zeigen, werden die Komponenten von jeder der
folgenden Rezepturen 5 min bei 14O°C unter Verwendung einer
Mischwalze verknetet. Das verknetete Gemisch wird 5 min bei 16O°C und 200 kg/cm unter Bildung einer 1 mm dicken Folie
bzw. Platte preßverformt.

Die Folie wird in Proben mit einer Größe von 40x150 mm geschnitten. Jede Probe wird in je einem getrennten Zylinder
aufgehängt, und die Zeit, bei der ein oxydativer Abbau stattfindet,
wird gemessen. Die erhaltenen Ergebnisse sind in Tabelle IV aufgeführt.
Das Innere des Zylinders wird in einer Sauerstoffatmosphäre bei 1 at und 16O°C gehalten. Die Zeit, bei der eine oxydative
Zersetzung beginnt, ist die Zeit, bei der der Druck des
Inneren des Zylinders plötzlich abnimmt, und wird von einem Aufzeichnungsgerät abgelesen.

in einer Luftatmosphäre bei 1900C geprüft. Die Zeit bis
zum Einsetzen einer Verfärbung wird aus dem Grad der Färbung bestimmt.
Die Ergebnisse, die erhalten werden, sind in der folgenden Tabelle VI aufgeführt.

Zur Erläuterung des Einflusses der erfindungsgemäßen Verbindungen auf ein Äthylen/Vinylacetat-Copolymer werden

Es ist bekannt, daß herkömmliche Antioxydantien zum Zeitpunkt der Verarbeitung der Harze bei hoher Temperatur
durch Verdampfung und andere Erscheinungen stark.verbraucht
werden und daß der Grad des Verbrauchs die Eigenschaften des Harzes stark beeinflußt. In diesem Beispiel wird diese Wirkung
durch wiederholtes Extrudieren bestätigt.
Ein Harz und die Zusatzstoffe werden unter Verwendung eines Mischers während 5 min. und unter Verwendung der folgenden
Rezeptur vermischt. Das Gemisch wird unter Verwendung eines Extruders (Durchmesser 50 mm) unter Bildung einer Verbin-

dung (Zylindertemperatur: 23O0C, 24O0C; Kopfformtemperatur:
2500C; Rotationsgeschwindigkeit 20 U/min) extrudiert. Das Extrudieren wird fünfmal wiederholt. Die Verbindung wird
zu einer Testprobe mit einer Größe von 95 x 40 χ 1 mm unter Verwendung einer Spritzgußverformungsmaschine (Zylindertemoeratur:
240°C; Düsentemperatur: 2500C; Spritzdruck: 475 kg/cm ) verformt. Die entstehenden Teststücke werden
in einen Ofen bei 16O°C gegeben, und die Zeit, bei der mindestens
fünf der zehn Testproben sich verfärbt haben, wird als Zersetzungszeit definiert.
Zum Vergleich werden Testproben auf ähnliche Weise aus der erhaltenen Verbindung hergestellt, wobei man nur
einen Spritzvorgang verwendet, und diese werden auf gleiche Weise geprüft. Die erhaltenen Ergebnisse sind in der folgenden
Tabelle IX aufgeführt.

Claims (25)
1. Stabilisierte, synthetische Polymerzusammensetzung, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß sie enthält:
(1) 100 Gew.Teile eines synthetischen Polymeren,
(2) 0,001 bis 5 Gew.Teile eines Poly-(alkylierten Alkenylphenols), das im wesentlichen monomere Einheiten enthält,

Butadien/Styrol-Harz, Polyvinylchlorid oder ein Äthylen/Vinylacetat-Copolymer
ist.
5· Zusammensetzung nach Anspruch 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet,
daß der Polyester Polybutylenterephthalat ist.
6. Zusammensetzung nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet,
daß das Poly-(alkylierte Alkenylphenol) Poly-(tert.-butyliertes-p-Vinylphenol)
ist.
7. Zusammensetzung nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet,
daß das PoIy-(alkylierte Alkenylphenol) Poly-(tert.-butyliertes-p-Isopropenylphenol)ist.
8. Zusammensetzung nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das Poly-(alkylierte Alkenylphenol) Poly-(propyliertes-p-Vinylphenol)
ist.
