"Hydraulische Systeme und deren Verwendung"

Die Erfindung betrifft funktionelle Flüssigkeitssysteme mit
einem Gehalt an bestimmten Flüssigkeiten, insbesondere betrifft die Erfindung hydraulische und Wärmeübertragungsflüssigkeitssysteme,
die gekennzeichnet sind durch einen Gehalt an einer wirksamen Menge einer Verbindung der allgemeinen Formel I

in der R und R1 gleich oder verschieden sind und Wasserstoffatome,
Alkyl-, Alkenyl-, Aryl- oder Aralkylreste bedeuten, mit der Maßgabe, daß die Mehrzahl der Reste Rf sterisch gehinderte
Alkylreste mit mindestens 3 Kohlenstoffatomen sind, als hydrau
lische Flüssigkeit.
Man kann die allgemeine Formel I auch abgekürzt schreiben:
in der R und R1 die vorstehend angegebene Bedeutung besitzen.
Silikatester, Silane, Silanole und Oxysilane sind als funktioneile
Flüssigkeiten wertvoll, insbesondere als Wärmeübertragungsflüssigkeiten,
hydraulische Flüssigkeiten, Bremsflüssigkeiten oder Transmissionsflüssigkeiten. Die neuen Oxysilanverbindungen
mit den erwünschten Eigenschaften als funktionelle Flüssigkeiten sind bisher in der Literatur noch nicht.beschrieben
worden. Eine ausführlichere Beschreibung insbesondere deren
Herstellung findet sich in der gleichzeitig eingereichten Anraelmeldung
unter Beanspruchung der Priorität vom 24. September 1975^
USSN 616,438 (V.St.A.) mit dem Titel "Oxysilan-Verbindungen und
Verfahren zu ihrer Herstellung" (unser Zeichen L 168 C). Die vorliegende Erfindung ist auf die Verwendung derartiger Verbindungen
in Systemen mit funktionellen .Flüssigkeiten gerichtet, wie
es nachstehend ausführlicher dargelegt wird.
Die in den erfindungsgemäßen Systemen als funktionelle Flüssigkeiten
verwendeten Verbindungen lassen sich durch die allgemeine Formel I wiedergeben. Vorzugsweise ist der Rest R ein Wasserstoffatom
oder ein Alkyl- oder Alkenylrest mit 1 bis 18 Kohlen-

Stoffatomen oder ein Aryl- oder Aralkylrest mit 6 bis 24 Kohlenstoffatomen.
Vorzugsweise ist R ein Wasserstoffatom oder ein Alkylrest mit 1 bis 8 Kohlenstoffatomen oder ein Aryl- oder Aralkylrest
mit 6 bis 14 Kohlenstoffatomen'. In der allgemeinen Formel I kann der Rest R1 gleich oder verschieden von dem Rest R
sein, jedoch mit der Maßgabe, daß mindestens die Mehrzahl der Reste R1 sterisch gehinderte Alkylreste mit mindestens 3 Kohlenstoffatomen
sind. Die erwünschten und bevorzugten Reste R1 sind
die gleichen wie für die Reste R unter Berücksichtigung der vorstehenden
Maßgabe. Mindestens die Mehrzahl der Reste R* weist sterisch gehinderte Alkylreste mit 3 bis 24 Kohlenstoffatomen,
vorzugsweise mit 4 bis 12 Kohlenstoffatomen, auf. Die sterisch gehinderten Alkylreste sind Alkylreste, die dem Molekül eine
Stabilität gegen eine Hydrolyse verleihen, d.h. daß sie eine Reaktion der Silicium-Sauerstoff- oder der Kohlenstoff-Sauerstoff
-Bindungen in dem Molekül mit Wasser verhindern. Beispiele für sterisch gehinderte Alkylreste sind verzweigte primäre Al- ·
kylreste mit einer Seitenkette von mindestens 2 Kohlenstoffatomen
in der ß-Position, sekundäre und tertiäre Alkylreste, insbesondere die sek.-Butyl-, Isobutyl-, 2-Äthyl-butyl-, 2~Äthylpentyl-,
3-Äthyl-pentyl-, 2-Äthyl-hexyl-, 3-Äthyl-hexyl- und
die 2,4-Dimethyl-3-pentyl-Gruppe.
Die funktionellen Flüssigkeitssysteme gemäß vorliegender Erfindung
umfassen hydraulische Systeme und auch Wärmeübertragungssysteme.
Bei den hydraulischen Systemen wird eine erste mechanische Kraft

in einen Druck an einem ersten Ort umgewandelt, dann wird der
Druck von diesem ersten Ort über die hydraulische Flüssigkeit auf einen zweiten Ort übertragen und dann wird dieser Druck in
eine zweite mechanische Kraft"an diesem zweiten Ort umgewandelt.
Somit umfassen die hydraulischen Systeme vorliegender Erfindung hydraulische Bremssysteme, hydraulische Steuerungsmechanismen,
hydraulische übertragungsmittel, hydraulische Hebevorrichtungen und hydraulische Fördervorrichtungen. Hierunter befinden sich
auch hydraulische Systeme, die bei schweren Vorrichtungen und Beförderungsfahrzeugen einschließlich Straßenfahrzeugen und
Vorrichtungen im Bauwesen, für Eisenbahnen, für Förderstrecken im Bergbau 'oder bei Wasserfahrzeugen verwendet werden. Ferner
werden mitumfaßt besondere oder gewöhnliche Flüssigkeiten erfordernde Systeme,wie hochdruck- oder temperaturabhängige Systeme
einschließlich solcher, die in künstlerischer Umgebung, wie Theater oder dergleichen, angewendet werden, oder solche, die
bei der Luftfahrttechnik oder auch bei astronautischen Fahrzeugen Verwendung finden.
Die Wärmeübertragungsflüssigkeitssysteme schließen die vorgenannten
hydraulischen Systeme ein, bei denen Wärme durch eine hydraulische Flüssigkeit abgeleitet wird? und umfassen auch zahlreiche
andere Systeme. Im allgemeinen bezieht sich vorliegende Erfindung auf Wärmeübertragungssysteme, wobei Wärme von einem
ersten Wärmeleiter an einem ersten Ort auf eine Wärmeübertragungsflüssigkeit übertragen wird, die dann die Wärme von dem
ersten Ort zu einem zweiten Ort überträgt, und wobei dann die Wärme von der Wärmeübertragungsflüssigkeit auf den zweiten Lai-

ter an dem zweiten Ort übergeht. Somit' schließen die Wärmeübertragungssysteme
vorliegender Erfindung auch Wärmeableitsysteme, flüssige Wärmesysteme, wie Radiatoren mit umlaufenden
Wärmeflüssigkeitssystemen, ferner Wärmeaustauschsysteme, wie
Gasflüssigkeits- und Flüssigkeits-Flüssigkeits-Gleich- oder .—Gegenstromröhrenwärmeaustauscher ein, wie sie beispielsweise
in der chemischen Industrie Verwendung finden, außerdem Kühlsysteme für Kernreaktoren, Kühlsysteme vom Radiatortyp sowie
weitere andere temperaturabhängige Systeme, bei denen ein flüssiges Wärmeübertragungsmittel in einem geschlossenen oder verschlossenen
System verwendet wird.
Bei den Systemen mit funktioneilen Flüssigkeiten nach vorliegender
Erfindung werden die vorgenannten Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formel I in einer wirksamen Menge eingesetzt. Infolge
der besonders vorteilhaften hydrolytischen Stabilität dieser Verbindungen sowie ihrer hohen Schmiereigenschafts- und niedrigen
Viskositätswerte können die Verbindungen ohne sonstige Zusätze oder Verdünnungsmittel eingesetzt werden. Demzufolge
bedeutet eine wirksame Menge dieser Verbindung, daß die Verbindingen
ohne zusätzliche Verbindungen bzw./Flüssigkeiten mit einem Gehalt an zusätzlichen flüssigen Bestandteilen verwendbar sind;.
Bei einer Ausführungsform können die Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formel I ohne Zusätze oder Verdünnungsmittel eingesetzt
werden.
Gegebenenfalls können diese Verbindungen den Grundbestandteil der funktionellen. Flüssigkeit ausmachen oder können eine ge-

ringe Menge, d.h* einen Zusatz, in einer funktioneilen Flüssigkeit
bilden, die eine andere Grundkomponente enthält. Gewöhnlich kann eine wirksame Menge eine beliebige Menge sein, die
die erwünschten Flüssigkeitseigenschaften für ein gegebenes System hervorruft. Deshalb können beispielsweise 5 % oder weniger
einer oder mehrerer der Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formel I oder auch etwa 100 % dieser Verbindungen verwendet werden, wobei
sich die Prozentangaben auf das Gewicht beziehen. Beispielsweise können 20 bis etwa 95 % oder etwa 100 % der funktionellen
Flüssigkeit eine oder mehrere Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formel I sein, beispielsweise können 45 bis 90 % der Flüssigkeit
aus einer oder mehreren Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formel I bestehen.
Es sind zahlreiche Verdünnungsmittel, Inhibitoren und andere Zusätze bei funktionellen Flüssigkeiten bekannt, und diese können
gegebenenfalls zu den beidön Systemen vorliegender Erfindung
verwendeten funktionellen Flüssigkeiten zugesetzt werden. Beispielsweise kann ein Verdünnungsmittel ein Glykol-monoätheroder-diäther
der nachstehenden Formel sein

einen Alkylenrest mit 2 bis 4 Kohlenstoffatomen bedeutet, R3

R2 und R3 können geradkettig oder verzweigt sein und der Alkylen

oxidrest OR^in vorstehender Formel kann aus Geraischen von Alkylenoxid
bestehen. Weitere Beispiele von möglichen Verdünnungsmitteln sind Glykole, wie Alkylenglykole der allgemeinen Formel

in der R. ein Alkylenrest mit 2 bis 3 Kohlenstoffatomen ist und y eine Zahl von 1 bis 5 bedeutet.
Beispiele der vorstehend genannten Verdünnungsmittel sind Diäthylenglykol-monoäthyläther, Diäthylenglykol-monobutylather,
Triäthylenglykol-monomethyläther, Triäthylenglykol-monoäthyläther,
Tetraäthylen-glykolmonomethylather, Äthylenglykol, Propylenglykol,
Diäthylenglykol und Tetraäthylenglykol. Zahlreiche andere bekannte Verdünnungsmittel und deren Gemische können ebenfalls
mit der ein Organosilan enthaltenden Grundkomponente vorliegender
Erfindung verwendet werden. In der US-PS.3 377 288 sind zahlreiche Verdünnungsmittel angegeben, die im vorliegenden
Fall eingesetzt werden können.
Im allgemeinen ist die verwendete jeweilige Menge des Verdünnungsmittels
nicht kritisch, und deshalb können in weitem Umfang variierende Mengen verwendet werden. Insbesondere können die
Verdünnungsmittel 0 bis etwa 80 Gewichtsprozent der Flüssigkeit ausmachen und liegen vorzugsweise in einer Menge von etwa
20 bis etwa 60 % vor.
Des weiteren können zahlreiche Zusätze zu den in den Systemen vorliegender Erfindung verwendeten Flüssigkeiten zugesetzt wer-

den, um die verschiedensten chemischen und physikalischen Eigenschaften
zu steuern oder zu modifizieren. Unter diesen zahlreichen Zusätzen, die den Flüssigkeiten zugesetzt werden können,
sind pHrlnhibitoren, Korrosionsschutzmittel . Antioxy- j
dantien, Rostschutzmittel, Viskositätsverbesserungsmittel, Mit- ! tel zum Herabsetzen des Stockpunktes, Schmierzusätze, Anti- j
schaummittel, Stabilisatoren, Dampfphasenkorrosionsschutz- '
mittel, Kautschukquellzusätze, Demulgatoren, Farbstoffe und Geruchsunterdrückungsmittel. Gewöhnlich variiert die Gesamtmenge
der Zusätze, die in die Flüssigkeitssysteme eingearbeitet werden können, zwischen etwa 0 und etwa 20 %, beispielsweise
von etwa 0,1 bis 8 % und ganz besonders von etwa 0,2 bis etwa 5 Gewichtsprozent, bezogen auf das Gesamtgewicht des Flüssigkeitssystems.
Beispielsweise können gegebenenfalls Alkaliinhibitoren für den pH-Wert und Korrosionsschutzmittel in einer Menge zugegeben werden,
um die alkalischen Bedingungen der Flüssigkeit aufrecht zu erhalten, d.h. einen scheinbaren pH-Wert von etwa 7,0 bis
etwa 11,5. Diese Inhibitoren können im allgemeinen in einer
Menge von etwa 0 bis etwa 8 Gewichtsprozent, bezogen auf das Gesamtgewicht der Flüssigkeit, beispielsv/eise von etwa 0,5 bis
etwa 6 %, zugegeben werden. Wertvolle Alkaliinhibitoren sind beispielsweise Alkalimetallsalze höherer Fettsäuren, wie Kaliuinoleat,
dann Kaliumseifen von Kolophonium- oder Tallölfettsäuren, Amine, wie Morpholin oder Äthanolamin, und Aminsalze, wie
Mono- oder Dibutylammonium-borate.
Gegebenenfalls können auch Antioxidantien mitverwendet werden,

Typische Antioxydantien sind beispielsweise 2,2-Di-(4-hydroxyphenyl)
-propan, Phenothiazin, Amine, wie Phenyl-oC-naphthylamin, sowie gehinderte Phenole, wie Dibutylkresol. Im allgemeinen
/von/
variiert die Menge des verwendeten Antioxidans/O bis etwa 3 Gewichtsprozent,
beispielsweise von etwa 0,001 bis etwa 2 Gewichtsprozent, bezogen auf das Gesamtgewicht des Flüssigkeitssystems .
Außerdem können gegebenenfalls weitere Zusatzstoffe in die
Flüssigkeitssysteme eingearbeitet werden. So werden genannt Korrosionsinhibitoren, wie Butindiole oder Kautschukquelleinstellmittel,
wie Dodecylbenzol.
Die vorgenannten Inhibitoren und Zusätze sind lediglich beispielhaft
und stellen keine ausschließliche Aufzählung der zahlreichen bekannten Substanzen dar, die Flüssigkeitssystemen zugesetzt
werden können, um die verschiedensten erwünschten Eigenschaften zu erhalten. Andere Beispiele von Zusätzen und Verdünnungsmitteln,
die verwendbar sind, können in der US-PS 3 377 und in dem Buch von Roger E. Hatton "Introduction to Hydraulic
Fluids", Verlag Reinhold Publishing Corp., 1962, entnommen werden.
Die Beispiele erläutern die Erfindung.
Es wird eine funktioneile Flüssigkeit hergestellt, die aus der Verbindung der nachstehenden Formel besteht:

Diese Verbindung wird auf zahlreiche Eigenschaften für eine funktionelle Flüssigkeit untersucht. Um den wichtigsten Punkt,
nämlich die Wärmeübertragungseigenschaften, zu prüfen, wird die Flüssigkeit untersucht, um seine ASTM-Kurve zu bestimmen (ASTM-D
341-43). Die ASTM-Kurve basiert auf Viskositätsmessungen bei 37,8°C und 98,9°C und wird als Zeichen der Viskositätsänderung
in bezug auf Temperaturänderungen angewendet. Die vorgenannte Flüssigkeit zeigt eine ASTM-Kurve von 0,45, was sehr gut für
funktionelle Flüssigkeiten und insbesondere für eine ist, die keine Viskositätssteuerungszusätze enthält. Des weiteren v/erden
die Schmiereigenschaften der Flüssigkeit untersucht, indem die Flüssigkeit einem Verschleißtest unterworfen wird, wobei man sie
"eine Stunde bei 75,5°C im Vierkugelapparat bei einer Geschwindigkeit
von 1800 UpM einer Belastung von HO kg aussetzt. Diese
Flüssigkeit zeigt im Verschleißtest 0,73 mm Gesamtverschleiß,
was eine sehr gute Schmierfähigkeit für eine Flüssigkeit darstellt, die keinen Schmiermittelverbesserer enthält. Ein nennenswerter
Test für eine hydraulische Flüssigkeit ist ihre Stabilität in Gegenwart von Wasser. Diese Flüssigkeit wird deshalb
einem Hydrolysefeststofftest unterworfen, der bei 98,9 C
in Gegenwart von 33 Gewichtsprozent Wasser und einem Kupfermetallkatalysator während 100 Stunden durchgeführt wird. Lediglich
0,002 Prozent Feststoffe werden gefunden, die bei Beendigung des Tests vorliegen. Außer den vorgenannten erwünschten Eigenschaften
zeigt diese Flüssigkeit einen Flammpunkt von 198,9 C, was die Verwendung als hydraulische Flüssigkeit unter schwie-

rigeh Hochtemperaturbedingungen gestattet. Die Verwendbarkeit
der funktioneilen Flüssigkeit bei niederer Temperatur kann ebenfalls aufgrund der Tatsache erfolgen, daß die Flüssigkeit
noch bei Temperaturen unter -400C flüssig ist. Viskositätsmessugen:
10 cSt bei 98,9°C; 37,2 cSt bei 37,8°C; 1050 cSt bei -40°C. Der ASTM-Viskösitätsindex beträgt 310 (ASTM-D 22-70). Der
Gewichtsverlust in Luft beträgt nur 13,96 % bei 1 at bei 204,4°C während einer Stunde.
Die vorgenannten Untersuchungen werden bei Flüssigkeiten der Beispiele 2 bis 4 wiederholt. Man erhält die folgenden Ergebnisse:

Claims (6)
- 26A2812PatentansprücheIo Hydraulisches System, wobei eine erste mechanische Kraft in einen Druck an einem ersten Ort umgewandelt wird, der Druck von diesem ersten Ort über eine hydraulische Flüssigkeit auf einen zweiten Ort übertragen und dann dieser Druck in eine zweite mechanische Kraft an diesem zweiten Ort umgewandelt wird, gekennzeichnet durch einen Gehalt an einer wirksamen Menge einer Verbindung der allgemeinen Formel IR1— 0—Si—0—R1-R'(DR·in der R und R1 gleich oder verschieden sind und Wasserstoffatome, Alkyl-, Alkenyl-, Aryl- oder Aralkylreste bedeuten, mit der Maßgabe, daß die Mehrzahl der Reste R1 sterisch gehinderte Alkylreste mit mindestens 3 Kohlenstoffatomen sind, als hydraulische Flüssigkeit»
- 2. Hydraulisches System nach Anspruch 1, gekennzeichnet durch einen Gehalt an einer Verbindung der allgemeinen Formel I, in der R und R1 gleich oder verschieden sind und Wasserstoffatome7098U/0940ORiQfMAL !NSPECTEDAlkyl- oder Alkenylreste mit 1 bis 18 Kohlenstoffatomen oder Aryl- oder Aralkylreste mit 6 bis 24 Kohlenstoffatomen sind, mit der Maßgabe, daß die Mehrzahl der Reste R' sterisch gehinderte Alkylreste mit mindestens 3 Kohlenstoffatomen sind, als hydraulische Flüssigkeit.
- 3. Hydraulisches System nach den Ansprüchen 1 oder 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Mehrzahl der Reste R1 sterisch gehinderte Alkylreste mit 3 bis 24 Kohlenstoffatomen sind.
- 4. Hydraulisches System nach den Ansprüchen 1 oder 2, gekennzeichnet durch einen Gehalt an einer Verbindung der allgemeinen Formel I, in der R und R* gleich oder verschieden sind und Wasserstoffatome oder Alkylreste mit 1 bis 8 Kohlenstoffatomen oder Aryl- oder Aralkylreste mit 6 bis 14 Kohlenstoffatomen sind, mit der Maßgabe, daß die Mehrzahl der Reste Rf sterisch gehinderte Alkylreste mit mindestens 3 Kohlenstoffatomen sind, als hydraulische Flüssigkeit.
- 5. Hydraulisches System nach Anspruch 4, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Mehrzahl der Reste R1 sterisch gehinderte Alkylreste mit 4 bis 12 Kohlenstoffatomen sind.
- 6. Verwendung der hydraulischen Systeme nach den Ansprüchen1 bis 5 als Wärmeübertragungssysteme oder in Wärmeübertragungssystemen.7098U/0940
