8. Verfahren zur Herstellung der Massen gemäß Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man die
Reaktionskomponenten I, II, III und IV in Gegenwart eines Katalysators für die Reaktion der
Oxiran-Gruppe und/oder eines Polymerisationsinhibitors, umsetzt.

Es wurden erhebliche Anstrengungen zur Herstellung derartiger Massen unternommen, da sie keine Umweltverschmutzung hervorrufen und wirtschaftliche Vorteile bieten. Viele dieser Massen können durch Bestrahlung gehärtet Werden. In vielen Fällen kommt auch eine Härtung durch Erhitzen oder eine kombinierte thermische Behandlung und Bestrahlungsbehandlung in Frage, Diese Massen sind aufgrund der Tatsache, daß sie völlig frei von flüchtigen Lösungsmitteln sind, als Massen mit
die Menge an Umgesetzter Komponente (IV) 0 bis 1 Äquivalent an reaktiven Gruppen pro Carboxyläquivalent der umgeselzten Komponente (I) und

Viele dieser Massen können durch Bestrahlung gehärtet Werden. In vielen Fällen kommt auch eine Härtung durch Erhitzen oder eine kombinierte thermische Behandlung und Bestrahlungsbehandlung in Frage, Diese Massen sind aufgrund der Tatsache, daß sie völlig frei von flüchtigen Lösungsmitteln sind, als Massen mit
einem lOOprozentigen Feststoffgehalt geläufig, obwohl
sie auch flüssig sein können.
Von Iangkettigen Fettsäuren, Fettsäureestern und Fettölen abgeleitete vicinale Acryloxy-hydroxyl-Verbindungen
und Polymerisate davon sind aui den US-PS 3125 592, 32 24 989 und 32 56 225 bekannt. Diese
Verbindungen werden im allgemeinen durch Umsetzung des epoxidierten Derivats der Iangkettigen,
ungesättigten Fettsäure, des Fettsäureesters oder des Fettöls (hier auch als aliphatische Epoxide bezeichnet)
mit einer vinylierten Verbindung, wie Acrylsäure oder Methacrylsäure, hergestellt. Diese Verbindungen erwiesen
sich auch als wertvoll zur Herstellung von anderen Zwischenprodukten. Ferner sind sie wertvolle Produkte
zur Herstellung von durch Bestrahlung härtbaren Überzugs- und Farbmassen. Jedoch wiesen Oberzugsund
Farbmassen mit einem Gehalt an diesen aliphatischen Epoxiden für einige Anwendungszwecke nicht die
erforderlichen Eigenschaften auf oder härteten nicht rasch genug. Es befand daher ein Bedürfnis danach,
diese Verbindungen zu Produkten mit besseren Eigenschaften zu modifizieren.
Eriindungsgemäß werden zahlreiche polymerisierbare,
epoxidmodifizierte Massen zur Verfügung gestellt, die diesen Erfordernissen genügen.
Gegenstand der Erfindung sind polymerisierbare, epoxidmodifizierte Massen aus Epoxidderivaten von
Iangkettigen ungesättigten Fettsäuren, Fettsäureestern oder Fettölen und vinylierten Carbonsäuren, die
dadurch gekennzeichnet sind, daß sie aus einem Umsetzungsprodukt der folgenden vier Komponenten
I-IV bestehen:
(I) einer vinylierten Carbonsäui e nus der Gruppe
(a) Acrylsäure und
(b) Methacrylsäure,
(II) einem aliphatischen Epoxid aus der Gruppe
(a) Epoxide von Iangkettigen, ungesättigten Fettsäuren
oder deren Estern mit einer aliphatischen Kette von 10 bis 24 Kohlenstoffatomen und mit mindestens einer Oxirangruppe und
(b) Epoxide von Iangkettigen, ungesättigten Fettölen
mit veresterten aliphatischen Säureketten von 10 bis 24 Kohlenstoffatomen, wobei
mindestens eine der veresterten Ketten eine Oxirangruppe enthält,
(III) einem Diepoxid aus der Gruppe
(a) Epoxycycloalkyldiepoxide mit mindestens einer Epoxycycloalkylgruppe, wobei die Cycloalkylgruppe
5 oder 6 Ringkohlenstoffatome aufweist, und
(b) Diglycidylverbindungen, wobei die Glycidylgruppe
über eine —O-Bindung an eine Phenylgruppe gebunden ist und
(IV) einem reaktive Gruppen enthaltenden Modifikator
aus der Gruppe
(a) aromatische und aliphatische Carbonsäuren, wobei die aromatische Gruppe 6 Ringkohlenstoffatome
und die aliphatische Kette 2 bis 10 Kohlenstoffatome aufweist)
(b) Anhydride von Carbonsäuren gemäß (I V) (a),
(c) Phenole,
(d) aromatische oder aliphatische Alkohole mit 1 bis 10 Kohlenstoffatomen,
(e) aliphatische Carbonsäureamide mit 2 bis 10 Kohlenstoffatomen in der aliphatischen Kette
und
(f) aliphatische Carbonsäurehalogenide mit 2 bis 15 Kohlenstoffatomen in der aliphatischen
Kette,
wobei in der polymerisierbaren Masse
die Menge an umgesetzter Komponente (II) 0,1 bis 1 Oxiranäquivalent pro Carboxyläquivalent in der Komponente (I),
die Menge an umgesetzter Komponente (II) 0,1 bis 1 Oxiranäquivalent pro Carboxyläquivalent in der Komponente (I),
die Menge an umgesetzter Komponente (III) 0,1 bis 1 Oxiranäquivalent pro Carboxyläquivalent der umgesetzten
Komponente (I), die Menge an umgesetzter Komponente (IV) 0 bis 1 Äquivalent an reaktiven
Gruppen pro Carboxyläquivalent der umgesetzten Komponente (I) und
die Summe der insgesamt umgesetzten Oxiranäquivalente
der Komponenten (II) und (III) zuzüglich der umgesetzten Äquivalente an reaktiven Gruppen der
Komponente (IV) 0,1 bis 1 Äquivalent pro umgesetztes Carboxyläquivalent der Kompoente (I) beträgt
Die Massen der Erfindung sind polymerisierbare Gemische von Reaktionsprodukten, die durch Umsetzung
der vier Grundbestandteile erhalten worden sind. Diese polymerisierbaren Gemische können direkt als
so Färb- oder Überzugsmassen verwendet werden oder
mit anderen Bestandteilen versetzt werden. Dabei können übliche Additive, wie Pigmente, Farbstoffe,
Stabilisatoren, Antistatikmittel, Fungizide, Bakterizide, Fotoinitiatoren, Fotosensibilisatoren, Aktivatoren
J5 u. dgl., zugesetzt werden. Diese Additive werden auf
übliche Weise und in den üblichen Mengen zugesetzt. Die Art der jeweils verwendeten additive, die Art der
Zugabe und die jeweiligen Mengen sind dem Fachmann geläufig und bedürfen keiner weiteren Erläuterung.
Gegebenenfalls können auch Lösungsmittel zugesetzt werden. Jedoch geht bei einem Zusatz von Lösungsmitteln
in nennenswerten Mengen der »iOOprozentige Feststoff«-Charakter der Massen verloren. Die polymerisierbaren
Gemische von Reaktionsprodukten können durch nicht ionisierende oder ionisierende Bestrahlung,
durch thermische Behandlung oder eine Kombination dieser Behandlungsarten gehärtet oder getrocknet
werden. Beispiele für eine nicht ionisierende Bestrahlung sind UV-Bestrahlungsverfahren unter Verwendung
Μ von Quecksilberlampen niedrigen, mittleren oder hohen
Drucks, von denen eine Anzahl von Modellen auf dem Markt sind und die auf übliche Weise verwendet
werden.
Der hier verwendete Ausdruck »Gemisch von Reaktionsprodukten« bedeutet die polymerisierbare,
epoxidmodifizierte Masse, die nach Beendigung der Umsetzung erhalten worden ist. Sie enthält zahlreiche
einzelne Verbindungen. Aufgrund ihrer komplizierten Natur ist es praktisch unmöglich, sämtliche Einzelbestandteile
zu isolieren und zu identifizieren. Ungeachtet dessen kann das gesamte Gemisch der Reaktionspro^
dükte verwendet werden. Dieses Gemisch wird als polymerisierbare, epoxidmodifizierte Masse bezeichnet,
da es durch Umsetzung des aliphatischen Epoxids und der vinylerten Carbonsäure mit einem Diepoxid
erhalten worden und mit dem Comodifikator weiter modifiziert worden ist und da es durch Bestrahlen oder
Erwärmen polymerisiert werden kann. Wie nächste-
bend erläutert, wird das Gemisch der Reaktionsprodukte
durch Umsetzung eines Gemisches von sämtlichen Komponenten erhalten. Es wurde festgestellt, daß
dieses Verfahren zur Herstellung von polymerisierbaren, epoxidmodifizierten Gemischen von Reaktionsprodukten
eingehalten werden muß.
Es wurde versucht, Produkte aus getrennt durchgeführten Umsetzungen zu vereinigen. Dabei erhält man
im allgemeinen kein homogenes Gemisch, da die Produkte aus getrennt durchgeführten Umsetzungen im
allgemeinen untereinander nicht löslich sind. Beispielsweise erhält man bei der Umsetzung von Acrylsäure mit
2-(3,4-Epoxy-cycIohexyl)-5,5-spiro-(3,4-epoxy-cycIohexan)-m-dioxan
ein festes Acrylat als Reaktionsprodukt Bei der Umsetzung von epoxidiertem Leinsamenöl mit
Acrylsäure erhält man ein flüssiges Acrylat als Produkt Werden diese beiden Produkte bei Raumtemperatur
miteinander vermischt, so erhält man ein heterogenes Gemisch, da sich das feste Acrylat in dem flüssigen
Acrylat nicht löst. Demgegenüber erhält man bei Umsetzung eines Gemisches aus Acrylsäure, dem
genannten Diepoxid und epoxidierten Leinsamenöl ein flüssiges, homogenes Acrylatprodukt, das durch Bestrahlung
rasch gehärtet werden kann.
Als vinylierte Carbonsäuren, die eine Komponente zur Herstellung der polymerisierbaren, epoxidmodifizierten
Gemische von Reaktionsprodukten darstellen, werden Acrylsäure oder Methacrylsäure verwendet
Als aliphatische Epoxide, die einen weiteren Reaktanten darstellen, werden die Epoxide von langkettigen, jo
ungesättigten Fettsäuren oder deren Estern mit einjr aliphatischen Kette mit 10 bis 24 Kohlenstoffatomen
und mindestens einer Oxirangruppe oder die Epoxide von langkettigen, ungesättigten Fettölen mit veresterten,
aliphatischen Carbonsäuren mit 10 bis 24 Kohlenstoffatomen in der Kette, wobei mindestens eine der
veresterten Ketten eine Oxirangruppe enthält, verwendet Diese Verbindungen sind bekannt und großenteils
handelsüblich. Beispiele für epoxidierte Fettöle sind epoxidiertes Sojabohnenöl, Maisöl, Rizinusöl, Baumwollsamenöl,
Hanfsamenöl, Tallöl, Safloröl, Erdnußöl, Leinsamenöl, Olivenöl, Dorschöl, Heringsöl! und Menhadenöl.

Epoxide in Abwesenheit der nachstehend definierten Diepoxide, den Epoxycycloalkyldiepoxiden oder Diglycidylverbindungen,

Die Diepoxide stellen einen weiteren Reaktanten zur Herstellung der polymerisierbaren, epoxidmodifizierten
Massen dar. Diese Gruppe umfaßt Epoxycycloalkyldiepoxide mit mindestens einer Epoxycycloalkylgruppe,
wobei die Epoxycycloalkylgruppe 5 oder 6 Ringkohlenstoffatome aufweist, oder Diglycidylverbindungen, wobei
die Glycidylgruppe über eine —O-Bindung an eine Phenylgruppe gebunden ist Dipse Diepoxide sind

Die vierte, zur Herstellung der polymerisierbaren epoxidmodifizierten Massen der Erfindung verwendete
Komponente besteht in einem Comodifikator mit einer reaktiven Gruppe. Dieser Comodifikator enthält eine
reaktive Gruppe, die in der Lage ist, mit einer der funktionellen Gruppen der vorstehend definierten
vinylierten Carbonsäuren, aliphatischen Epoxide oder Diepoxide oder mit während der Umsetzung gebildeten
funktionellen Gruppen zu reagieren. Diese Comodifikatoren mit reaktiven Gruppen können bestehen in:
(a) aromatischen Carbonsäuren, wobei der aromatische
Rest 6 Ringkohlenstoffatome aufweist,
(b) einer aliphatischen Carbonsäure mit 2 bis 10 Kohlenstoffatomen, vorzugsweise 2 bis 5 Kohlenstoffatomen,
(c) den Anhydriden der vorgenannten aromatischen und aliphatischen Carbonsäuren,
(d) einem Phenol,
(e) aromatischen und aliphatischen Alkoholen mit 1 bis 10 Kohlenstoffatomen,
(f) einem aliphatischen Carbonsäureamid mit 2 bis 10

Es wurde bereits angedeutet, daß der reaktive Gruppen enthaltende Comodifikator so beschaffen ist,
daß er in der Lage ist, mit einet der funktionellen Gruppen der drei anderen ursprünglich vorgelegten
Reaktanten oder mit einer während der Umsetzung gebildeten funktionellen Gruppe zu reagieren. Die
funktioneile Gruppe an der vinylierten Carbonsäure ist die Carboxylgruppe. Die funktionell Gruppe am
aliphatischen Epoxid und am Diepoxid ist die Epoxidgruppe. Diese Gruppen sind bereits ursprünglich in den
entsprechenden Molekülen vorhanden. Es ist jedoch bekannt, daß während der Umsetzung leicht Hydroxylgruppen
gebildet werden, wenn ein Epoxid mit einer vinylierten Carbonsäure reagiert Dies läßt sich durch
folgende Gleichung erläutern:

Dabei werden vicinale Acryloxy-hydroxyl-Derivate der Oxiran-Verbindungen von der Art, wie sie in den
vorerwähnten US-PS angegeben sind, gebildet Auf diese Druckschriften wird diesbezüglich Bezug genommen.
Wie bereits ausgeführt, werden die polymerisierbaren,
epoxidmodifizierten Massen durch Umsetzung der vorstehend definierten Komponenten gebildet Die
Konzentration der einzelnen vorgelegten Reaktanten kann variieren und hängt von den jeweiligen Bedürfnissen
und dem gewünschten Endprodukt ab. Die Menge an vorgelegtem aliphatischen! Epoxid wird so gewählt,
daß 0,1 bis I1 vorzugsweise 0,5 bis 1, Oxiranäquivalent
pro 1 Carboxyläquivalent in der vorgelegten, vinylierten Carbonsäure vorhanden ist.
Die Menge an vorgelegtem Diepoxid beträgt 0,1 bis 1,
vorzugsweise 0,5 bir 1, Oxiranäquivalenten pro 1 ι
Carboxyläquivalent der vorgelegten vinylierten Carbon'Sure.
Die Menge an reaktive Gruppen enthaltendem Modifikator beträgt 0 bis 1, vorzugsweise 0,1 bis 0,4,
Äquivalent an reaktiven Gruppen pro 1 Carboxyläquivalent der vorgelegten vinylierten Carbonsäure.
Die Gesamtsumme an Oxiranäquivalenten im aliphatischen Epoxid und im Diepoxid zuzüglich der
Äquivalente an reaktiven Gruppen im reaktive Gruppen enthaltenden Comodifikator beträgt 0,1 bis 1,
vorzugsweise 0,5 bis 0,9, Äquivalent pro 1 umgesetztes Carboxyläquivalent der vinylierten Carbonsäure.
Die Umsetzung wird durchgeführt, indem man das Gemisch der Reaktanten auf eine Temperatur von 40
bis 140°C, vorzugsweise 90 bis 1200C, erwärmt. Die erfordeil .he Zeit hängt dabei von der ChargengröDe
und den speziellen Reaktanten ab. Diese Kriterien sind dem Fachmann geläufig. Bei einer typischen Umsetzung
ist vorzugsweise ein Katalysator in einer solchen Menge vorhanden, die ausreicht, um die Umsetzung der
Oxirangruppe zu katalysieren. Gleichzeitig ist vorzugsweise ein Inhibitor vorhanden, der dazu dient, eine
übermäßige Polymerisation über die Doppelbindung der vinylierten Carbonsäure auszuschließen. Derartige
Ks'alysatoren sind dem Fachmann geläufig. Entsprechende Beispiele sind Kaliumhydroxid, Kaliumacetat,
Lithiumhydroxid, Bariumhydroxid, Calciumhydroxid, Magnesiumhydroxid, Zinn(II)-octoat, Uranylnitrat-hexahydrat,
Benzyldimethylamin, Triäthylendiamin, und Tributylphosphin. Beispiele für Inhibitoren sind Pheno- ji
thiazin. Hydrochinon, Hydrochinonmonomethyläther und 2,6-Di-tert-butyl-p-cresol.
Die Art und die Reihenfolge der Zugabe der Reaktanten zum Reaktionsgemisch im Reaktor kann
variieren, wie aus den nachstehenden Beispielen hervorgeht. Im allgemeinen wird das aliphatische
Epoxid im Reaktor zusammen mit einem oder mehreren der anderen Reaktanten vorgelegt Der Katalysator und
der Inhibitor werden zu einem geeigneten Zeitpunkt zugegeben. Im allgemeinen wird die Umsetzung
während der Reaktionsstufe, in der die vinylierte Carbonsäure reagiert, in Gegenwart von Sauerstoff
durchgeführt, um die Polymerisation über die Doppelbindung zu hemmen.
Spezielle Beispiele für verschiedene Verfahrensweisen, nach denen die polymerisierbaren, epoxidmodifizierten
Gemische von Reaktionsprodukten der Erfindung hergestellt werden können, sind nachstehend
erläutert. Diese haben jedoch nur beispielhaften Charakter und können vom Fachmann im Rahmen der
hier gegebenen Lehre leicht variiert werden.
Gemäß einer Ausführungsform werden das aliphatische Epoxid und das Diepoxid im Reaktor vorgelegt,
erwärmt, und mit einem Gemisch von vinylierter Carbonsäure und Katalysator versetzt Nachdem einige
Zeit in einer Sauerstoffatmosphäre erhitzt worden ist werden ein Inhibitor und der Comodifikator zugesetzt
und die Umsetzung wird zu Ende gebracht
Gemäß einer zweiten Ausführungsform werden das aiiphatische Epoxid und das Diepoxid im Reaktor
vorgelegt, in Luft erwärmt, mit dem Katalysator und anschließend mit der vinylierten Carbonsäure versetzt
und eine kurze Zeit umgesetzt Anschließend werden der Inhibitor und sodann der Comodifikator zugegeben
und die Reaktion wird zum Abschluß gebracht.
Eine dritte Ausführungsform ist der zweiten Ausführungsform ähnlich und unterscheidet sich nur darin, daß
die vinylierte Carbonsäure vor der Zugabe des Katalysators zugesetzt wird.
Gemäß einer vierten Ausführungsform werden das aliphatische Epoxid, das Diepoxid Und der Comodifikator
im Reaktor vorgelegt, erwärmt und mit vinylierter Carbonsäure und Katalysator versetzt. Nach Erwärmen
in Luft wird Inhibitor zugegeben und die Umsetzung wird zum Abschluß gebracht.
Gemäß einer fünften Ausführungsform werden das aliphatische Epoxid, das Diepoxid und der Comodifikator
irr Reaktor vorgelegt und anschließend mit dem Katalysator versetzt. Das Gemisch wird unter Spülen
mit Luft erwärmt. Sodann werden die vinylierte Carbonsäure und anschließend der Inhibitor zugegeben
und die Reaktion wird zum Abschluß gebracht.
Die einfachste Verfahrensweise besteht darin, alle Reaktanten, einschließlich Katalysator und Inhibitor in
den Reaktor zu geben und das erhaltene Gemisch bis zur Beendigung der Umsetzung unter geeigneten
atmosphärischen Bedingungen zu erwärmen.
Die vorgenannte Ausführungsformen können vom Fachmann je nach der speziellen Kombination der
Reaktanten und dem gewünschten Produkt variiert werden.
Je nach den speziellen Wünschen des Herstellers können verschiedene Arten der Zugabe angewendet
werden. Das Ende der Umsetzung läßt sich leicht feststellen, indem man die Menge an nicht umgesetzter
Carbonsäure im Gemisch kontrolliert. Die Bestimmung der restlichen Acrylsäure oder Methacrylsäure wird
nach üblichen Verfahren durchgeführt.
Bevorzugt werden polymerisierbare, epoxidmodifizierte Gemische von Reaktionsprodukten mit einer
minimalen Menge an freier, verbliebener vinylierter Carbonsäure. Im allgemeinen beträgt diese Menge
•weniger als etwa 3 Gewichtsprozent der Gesamtmasse,
vorzugsweise 0,5 bis 1,5 Gewichtsprozent.
Die polymerisierbaren, epoxidmodifizierten Massen der Erfindung sind im allgemeinen flüssige Materialien,
die direkt oder in zusammengesetzten Massen als ■Farben (Druckfarben) oder Überzüge verwendet
werden können. Sie können durch ionisierende oder nicht ionisierende Bestrahlung oder durch thermische
Behandlung zu einer nicht klebrigen Form gehärtet werden. Die erfindungsgemäß hergestellten flüssigen
Gemische von Reaktionsprodukten weisen bei Raumtemperatur eine Brookfield-Viskosität von etwa 500 bis
10 000 Poise, vorzugsweise 500 bis 4000 Poise, auf.
Werden diese flüssigen Produkte durch nicht ionisierende Bestrahlung oder durch Belichtung gehärtet,
so werden Fotosensibilisatoren oder Fotoinitiatoren zugesetzt Diese liegen im allgemeinen in Konzentrationen
von 0,1 bis 10 Gewichtsprozent, vorzugsweise 0,5 bis 5 Gewichtsprozent bezogen auf die zu härtende
Masse, vor. Es können alle herkömmlichen Fotoinitiatoren
verwendet werden. Spezielle Beispiele dafür sind

verwendet werden kann und daß dabei gelegentlich eine synergistische Wirkung zu beobachten ist. Diese
Aktivatoren werden in Konzentrationen von 0,1 bis 10 Gewichtsprozent, vorzugsweise 0,5 bis 5 Gewichtsprozent,

Reaktionsprodukte der Erfindung, je nach den Bedürfnissen, verwendet werden. Bevorzugte Monomere und
Oligomere sind die Acrylylverbindungeri. Wie bereits vorstehend ausgeführt, können die polymerisierbaren,
epoxidmodifizierten Gemische von Reaktionsprodukten auch mit anderen Polymeren hergestellt werden.
Beispiele für derartige Polymere sind Polyolefine und modifizierte Polyolefine, Vinylpolymere, Polyäther,

Ferner können niedermolekulare Urethanoligomere, die freie, reaktive Acrylyl- oder Methacrylylgruppen
enthalten, verwendet werden (vgl. US-PS 35 09 234 und DE-OS 21 03 870).
Die Polymeren können einzeln oder im Gemisch von 2 oder mehr dieser Polymeren untereinander mit den
erfindungsgemilßen polymerisierbaren, epoxidmodifizierten
Gemischen von Reaktionsprodukten verwendet werden. Es können auch Kombinationen von Monomeren,
Oligomeren und Polymeren zusammen mit den Gemischen der Erfindung verwendet werden.
Zur Herstellung von derartigen gemischten Präparaten kann die Menge des erfindungsgemäßen, polymerisierbaren,
epoxidmodiiizierten Gemisches von Reaktionsprodukten
1 bis 80 Gewichtsprozent, vorzugsweise 15 bis 60 Gewichtsprozent, bezogen auf die Gesamtmasse,
betragen. Färb- oder Überzugsmassen, die die polymerisierbaren, epoxidmodifizierten Gemische von
Reaktionsprodukten der Erfindung enthalten, können auch Pigmente oder farbgebende Mittel, Antistatikmittel,
Farbstoffe, Stabilisatoren, Fungizide, Bakterizide, Fotoinitiatoren, Fotosensibilisatoren, Aktivatoren und
andere herkömmliche Additive in üblichen Mengen enthalten.
Die Massen der Erfindung können als Oberzug auf ein Substrat aufgebracht werden oder als Druckfarben
verwendet werden. Nach dem Aufbringen können sie durch Bestrahlen mit einem Elektronenstrahl oder
UV-Licht gehärtet werden. Die Härtungsverfahren sind dem Fachmann geläufig, so daß eine ausführliche
Erläuterung nicht notwendig ist. Ein besonders vorteilhaftes Härtungsverfahren ist in der US-PS 38 40 448
beschrieben, auf die Bezug genommen wird.

Ein 1 Liter fassender Vierhalskolben wird mit einem
Rührer, einem Thermometer, einem Rückflußkühler und einem Gaseinleitungsrohr versehen. Anschließend werden
200 g epoxidiertes Sojabohnenöl mit einem durchschnittichen Gehalt von 7 Prozent Oxiran, 48,4 g
2-(3,4-EpoxycycIohexyl)-5,5-spiro-(3,4-epoxycyclohexan)-m-dioxan
und 0,3 g Tridecylphosphit in diesem
Reaktionsgefäß vorgelegt. Das Gemisch wird 0,75 Stunden unter Stickstoff auf 900C erwärmt Anschließend
wird Luft durch das Reaktionsgefäß gespült. Sodann werden 83 g reine Acrylsäure, 432 g einer
50prozentigen wäßrigen Lösung von Kaliumhydroxid und 032 g p-Methoxyphenol zugegeben. Das Reaktionsgemisch
wird weitere 6 Stunden auf 110 bis 1200C erwärmt. Das polymerisierbare, epoxidmodifizierte
Oemisch von Reaktionsprodukten weist eine Restkonzentration von Acrylsäure unter 1 Prozent auf.
Eir. P.eaktionsgefäß gemäß Beispiel 1 wird mit 200 g epoxidiertem Sojabohnenöl mit einem durchschnittlichen
Oxirangehalt von 7 Prozent, 20 g 2-(3,4-Epoxycy-
clohexylJ-S.J-spiro-ß/t-epoxycyclohexanJ-m-dioxan,
70 g Acrylsäure, 1 g Kaliumhydroxid und 0,06 g p-Methoxyphenol versetzt. Während mit Luft gespült
wird, wird das Reaktoinsgemisch innerhalb von 45 Minuten auf 110 bis 120"C erwärmt Man erwärmt
anschließend weitere 4 Stunden auf diese Temperatur, bis der Restgehalt an Acrylsäure etwa 3 Prozent beträgt
Das auf diese Weise hergestellte flüssige, polymerisierbare, epoxidmodifizierte Gemisch von Reaktionsprodukten
weist bei Raumtemperatur eine Brookfield-Viskosität von 1032 Poise auf.
Ein ähnliches Reaktionsgefäß wie in Beispiel 1 wird mit 500 g epoxidiertem Tallöl mit einem durchschnittlichen
Oxirangehalt von etwa 4 Gewichtsprozent, 45 g Acrylsäure, 2 g Kaliumhydroxid und 032 g p-Methoxyphenol
versetzt. Das Gemisch wird 45 Minuten unter Spülen mit Luft auf etwa 1100C erwärmt. Anschließend
wird weitere 4 Stunden auf 112 bis 1200C erwärmt, bis
der restliche Säuregehalt 0.7 Prozent beträgt.
Ein Reaktionsgefäß gemäß Beispiel 1 wird mit 241,1 g
epoxidiertem Leinsamenöl mit einem durchschnittlichen Oxirangehalt von 9 Prozent. 48.4 g 2-(3,4-Epoxycyclohexyl)-5^-spiro-(3.4-epoxycyclohexan)-m-dioxan,
10 g gemischten Cn—Ci(,-a-Olefinepoxiden und 03 g Tridecylphosphit
versetzt. Das Gemisch wird gerührt und 30 Minuten unter Stickstoff auf etwa 8O0C erwärmt.
Anschließend wird eine weitere Stunde unter Stickstof·' auf 82 bis 100"C erwärmt. Sodann wird das Gemisch auf
etwa 4O0C gekühlt, mit Luft gespült und mit 0.6 g p-Methoxyphenol. 86 g Acrylsäure. 23 g Kaliumhydroxid
und 2,3 g Wasser versetzt. Die Temperatur wird 30 Minuten auf 100°C erhöht. Sodann wird das Gemisch
4'/4 Stunden bei etwa 100 bis 120°C und anschließend über Nacht bei Raumtemperatur gerührt, wobei
kontinuierlich mit Luft gespült wird. Am nächsten Morgen wird das Reaktionsgemisch etwa 1 Stunde auf
118"C erwärmt, bis der Restacrylsäuregehalt 0.41
Prozent beträgt. Das auf diese Weise hergestellte polymerisierbare. epoxidmodifizierte Gemisch von
Reaktionsprodukten ist flüssig und weisi eine Brookfield-Viskosität
von 6000 Poise auf.
Ein gemäß Beispiel 1 ausgerüstetes Reaktionsgefäß wird mit 100 g epoxidiertem Tallöl mit einem durchschnittlichen
Oxirangehalt von 5 Prozent, 50 g 2-(3,4-Epoxycyclohexyl)-5f5-spiro-(3,4-epoxycycIohexan)-mdiöxäfi
Und 1 g Triphetiylphosphin versetzt. Das Gemisch wird etwa 1 Stunde unter Stickstoff bei etwa
75 bis 82° C gerührt Anschließend werden 0,08 g p-Methoxyphenol, 37 g Acrylsäure und 0,6 g Kaliumhydroxid
zugegeben. Das Gemisch wird sodann unter Spülung mit Luft etwa 3'/2 Stunden bei 112 bis 115°C
gerührt Das Rühren wird bei Raumtemperatur unter Luftzufuhr über Nacht fortgesetzt Am nächsten
Morgen wird das Reaktionsgemisch etwa 2Ui Stunden
auf 112 bis 114° C unter Luftspülung erwärmt, bis der
Restsäuregehalt 034 Prozent beträgt Das polymerisierbare, epc lodifizierte Gemisch von Reaktionsprodukten
ist eine Brookfield-Viskosität von 3000 Poise
auf.
Die lolymerisierbaren, epoxidmodifizierten Gemische
von Reaktionsprodukten gemäß den Beispielen 1, 2, 3 und 5 werden in Form von Filmen auf Stahlplatten
aufgebracht und anschließend durch Bestrahlung mit UV-Licht gehärtet, wobei zunächst unter Stickstoff bei
2537 Ä bestrahlt wird und anschließend in Luft einer Bestrahlung aus drei 100 W/2^4 cm Quecksilberlampen

Die Umsetzung in Versuch 1 wird durchgeführt, indem man EPO, Diepoxid B und Triphenylphosphin in
das Reaktionsgefäß gibt, 1 Stunde unter Stickstoff auf 900C erwärmt, mit Luft spült, anschließend bei 900C mit
Acrylsäure, Kaliumhydroxid als Katalysator und MMEHQ versetzt und das Gemisch etwa 3 Stunden bei
110 bis 1200C zur Umsetzung bringt.
Der Versuch 2 wird auf die gleiche Weise wie der Versuch 1 unter Verwendung von Diepoxid A
durchgeführt, wobei das Bisphenol-A gleichzeitig mit der Acrylsäure zugegeben wird.
Der Versuch 3 wird auf die gleiche Weise wie der Versuch 2 durchgeführt, wobei das Bisphenol-A bei
110° C und nicht bei 90° C zugesetzt wird.
Mit den vorstehend erhaltenen Gemischen von Reaktionsprodukten werden Präparate hergestellt.
Jedes Präparat enthält 10 g polymerisierbares, epoxidmodifiziertes
Gemisch von Reaktionsprodukten, 5 g Neopentylglykoldiacrylat, 2,5 g 2-Hydroxyäthylacrylat,
2,5 g 2-Äthylhexylacrylat und 0,2 g 2,2-Diäthoxyacetophenon.
Die Präparate werden auf Stahlplatte!! mit einem Nr. 20 drahtgewickeltem Stab aufgebracht und
durch Bestrahlung rnit UV-Licht gehärtet Zunächst wird 3,6 Sekunden unter Stickstoff bei 2537 A und
anschließend in Luft 2,95 Sekunden aus drei 100 W/ 2,54 cm Quecksilberlampen mittleren Drucks bestrahlt.
Die Massen werden auch gehärtet, indem man sie zu Beginn 0,7 Sekunden unter Stickstoff bei 2537 A und
anschließend 0,6 Sekunden in Luft mit den gleichen Quecksilberlampen mittleren Drucks bestrahlt. Alle
Präparate härten zu trockenen, nicht klebrigen Oberzügen.
Ein ähnliches Reaktionsgefäß wie in Beispiel 1 wird mit 200 g 2-(3,4-Epoxycyclohexyl)-5,5-spiro-(3,4-epoxycyc]ohexan)-m-dioxan
und 4 g Triphenylphosphin versetzt Das Gemisch wird 1 Stunde unter Spülen mit
Stickstoff auf 900C erwärmt Anschließend wird mit Luft gespült und mit 89,2 g reiner Acrylsäure, 2 g
ί Kaliumhydroxid und 0,2 g p-MethoxyphenoI versetzt
Das erhaltene Gemisch wird etwa 4 Stunden auf 100 bis
1100C erwärmt Hierauf wird die Reaktion gestoppt, da
das Reaktionsprodukt allmählich erstarrt Die Masse wird als festes Produkt gewonnen. 1 g dieses Produkts
ίο werden zu 10 g des polymerisierbaren, epoxidmodifizierten
Gemisches von Reaktionsprodukten aus Versuch 5 aus Beispiel 6,5 g Neopentylglykoldiacrylat, 2,5 g
2-Hydroxypropylacrylat, 2^ g 2-Äthylhexylacrylat und
0,21 g 2,2-Diäthoxyacetophenon gegeben. Das erhalte-
ne Präparat wird auf Stahlplatten aufgebracht und gemäß den beiden in Beispiel 6 angegebenen Verfahren
gehärtet Man erhält jeweils eine rasche Här*"jng zu
trockenen, nicht klebrigen Überzügen.
Eine Reihe von poiymerisierbaren, epoxidmodifizierten
Gemischen von Reaktionsprodukten wird unter Verwendung der in nachstehender Tabefle aufgeführten
Reaktanten hergestellt In dieser Tabelle entspricht der Versuch 1 dem Versuch 2 von Beispiel 6.
Bei dieser Versuchsreihe werden sämtliche Reaktanten mit Ausnahme von Acrylsäure, Katalysator und
MMEHQ ursprünglich im Reaktor vorgelegt. Die Bestandteile werden unter Stickstoff 1 Stunde auf 80 bis
900C erwärmt. Anschließend wird das Gemisch mit Luft gespült, wobei während dieser Zeit eine Lösung von
Acrylsäure, Katalysator und MMEHQ bei 800C zugesetzt wird. Die Reaktion wird etwa 3 Stunden bei
110 bis 12O0C fortgesetzt, wobei kontinuierlich mit Luft
gespült wird.

Wie nachstehend erläutert, werden aus den vorstehend erhaltenen Gemischen von Reaktionsprodukten
(RPM) Benzophenon (Bz) und ρ,ρ'-DimethyIaminobenzophenon (DMABz) Präparate hergestellt. In einigen
Fällen wird ferner Pentaerythrit-triacrylat (PETA) zugesetzt. Diese Präparate werden gemäß Beispiel 6 auf
Stahlplatten aufgetragen. Sie werden gemäß Beispiel 6 gehärtet, wobei die Belichtungszeit bei 2537 A 0,45
Sekunden und mit der Quecksilberlampe mittleren Drucks 037 Sekunden beträgt. Sämtliche Präparate
härten bei diesen Bedingungen zu trockenen, nicht klebrigen Filmen mit Ausnahme der Präparate von
Versuch 4 und 7, die sich noch feucht anfühlen. Jedoch härten auch diese Produkte bei weiterer Bestrahlung zu
trockenen Filmen.

Epoxycycloalkyldiepoxids oder einer Diglycidylverbindung umgesetzt wird.

Diese Gemische von Reaktionsprodukten werden zur Herstellung von Präparaten mit 4 verschiedenen 2r>
Vorratslösungen verwendet. Die Vorratslösungen bestehen
aus Gemischen dieser Acrylate in verschiedenen, nachstehend aufgeführten Gewichtsverhältnissen:

Die Präparate enthalten 10 g des in den vorstehenden
Versuchen angegebenen Gemisches von Reaktionsprodukten, wobei die Versuchsnummer jeweils in der linken
Spalte der folgenden Tabelle angegeben ist, und 10 g der
vorstehend erhaltenen Vorratslösung, die jeweils in der oberen waagrechten Spalte der nachstehenden Tabelle
angegeben ist Ein »ja« bedeutet, daß das Präparat aus 2 4r>
Komponenten hergestellt wordtn ist. Ein »nein«
bedeutet, daß das Präparat nicht hergestellt worden isl. Alle Präparate enthalten 1 Gewichtsprozent 2,2-Diäthoxyacetophenon
als Fotoinitiator.
Diese Präparate werden jeweils auf Stahlplatten mit einem Nr.-20-drahtgewundenen Stab aufgetragen und
gemäß Beispiel 6 gehärtet. Eine erste Reihe von Platten wird 6,65 Sekunden bestrahlt, während eine zweite
Reihe von Platten 1,3 Sekunden bestrahlt wird.
Alle Präparate härten zu trockenen, annehmbaren Filmen mit guter Beständigkeit gegen Aceton, guter
Haftung und einem hohen 60°-Glanzwert
Auf ähnliche Weise wie in Beispiel 8 wird eine Reihe
von polymerisierbaren, epoxidmodifizierten Gemischen von Reaktionsprodukten unter Verwendung der nachstehend
angegebenen Reaktanten hergestellt.

In Versuch 1 wird das Bisphenol-A etwa 1 Stunde nach Zugabe von allen anderen Reaktanten zugesetzt
und teilweise bei etwa HO0C umgesetzt. Anschließend
wird die Reaktion durch weiteres 6stündiges Erhitzen auf 110 bis 1250C vollendet.
Es werden Druckfarbenpräparale hergestellt und gemäß den Angaben für die Massen von Beispiel 13 bis
15 untersucht. Sämtliche Präparate härten zu trockenen, nicht klebrigen Filmen.
Beispiel 12
Eine Reihe von polymerisierbaren, epoxidmodifizier· ten Gemischen von Reaktionsprodukten wird auf
ähnliche Weise wie in Beispiel 8 unter Verwendung der in nachstehender Tabelle aufgeführten Reaktanten
hergestellt Diese Reihe erläutert in den Versuchen I1 2
ynd 3 eine weitere Ausfühningsfnrm der Erfindung,
nämlich die Umsetzung des aliphatischen Epoxids mit einem Comodifikator in Abwesenheit des Diepoxids.

Beispiel 14
Gemäß Beispiel 13 wird ein polymerisierbäreSj
epoxidmodifiziertes Gemisch von Reaktionsprodukten durch Umsetzung von 5200 g des gleichen epoxidierten
Sojabohnenöls, 1040 g 2-(3,4-Epoxycyclöhexyl)^5,5<spiro-(3,4-epoxycyclohexan)-m-dioxan,
520 g eines Geml· sches von Cn-Ciö-a-Olefinepoxiden, 1638 g reiner
Acrylsäure, 4 g Hydrochinonmonoinethyläther unter
Verwendung von wäßriger Kaliumhydroxidlösung als Katalysator hergestellt. Nach Beendigung der Umsetzung
werden 0,8 g Hydrochinon und 7,7 g Triphenylphosphit bei 900C zugegeben.
j5 Beispiel 15
Auf ähnliche Weise wie in Beispiel 13 werden 5000 p epoxidiertes Leinsamenö! mit einem durchschnittlichen
Öxirangehalt von 9 Prozent, 1004 g 2-{3,4-EpoxycycIohexyl)-5^-spiro-(3,4-epoxycyclohexan)-m-dioxan,
4,2 g Hydrochinonmonomethyläther und 1602 g reine Acrylsäure
in Gegenwart von wäßriger Kaliumhydroxidlösung als Katalysator umgesetzL Nach Beendigung der
Reaktion werden 0,8 g Hydrochinon und 7,6 g Triphenylphosphit
bei 90° C zugesetzt.
is Unter Verwendung der in den Beispielen 13, 14 und
15, Versuche 1, 2 bzw. 3, hergestellten polymerisierbaren, epoxidmodifizierten Gemische von Reaktionsprodukten
werden Präparate hergestellt Diese Massen enthalten 65 Teile des Gemisches von Reaktionsprodukten,
13 Teile Neopentylglyko.'diacrylat, 13 Teile 2-Hydroxypropylacrylat 8 Teile 2-Äthylhexylacrylat
und 1 Teil 2,2-Diäthoxyacetophenon. Ähnliche Massen werden unter Verwendung von nicht modifiziertem,
acryliertem, epoxidiertem Sojabohnenöl (Versuch 4) und nicht modifiziertem, acryliertem, epoxidiertem
Leinsamenöl (Versuch 5) zu Vergleichszwecken hergestellt Diese Präparate werden als 0,254 mm (1 mil)
dicke, feuchte Filme auf die Oberfläche von Stahlplatten aufgebracht und mit der in Beispiel 6 verwendeten
Vorrichtung gehärtet Die Filmhärten sind in folgender Aufstellung zusammengestellt:
Die Versuche 3 und 4 werden auf ähnliche Weise wie in Beispiel 8 durchgeführt Im Versuch 1 wird das
Acrylamid bei einer Temperatur von 1100C etwa 1
Stunde nach Zugabe von sämtlichen anderen Reaktanten, die bereits teilweise umgesetzt sind, zum Reaktionsgemisch gegeben. Im Versuch 2 wird das Bisphenol-A
bei 1200C etwa lh Stunde nach Zugabe von sämtlichen
anderen Reaktanten, die bereits teilweise umgesetzt sind, zum Feaktionsgemisch gegeben.
Ein Reaktor wird mit 5007 g epoxidiertem Sojabohnenöl
mit einem durchschnittlichen Öxirangehalt von 7 Prozent, 625 g 2-{3,4-EpoxycycIohexyl)-5,5-spiro-(3,4-epoxycyclohexan)-ni-dioxan,
125 g Phthalsäureanhydrid, 1300 g reiner Acrylsäure und 3,75 g Hydrochinonmonomethyläther
versetzt Unter Spülen mit Luft wird das Gemisch auf 400C erwärmt, wonach 70 g einer
50prozentigen wäßrigen Kaliumhydroxidlösung zugesetzt
werden. Anschließend wird auf etwa 900C
erwärmt, wobei eine exotherme Reaktion abläuft Man
rührt etwa 31/2 Stunden bei 150 bis 1200C weiter. Das
polymerisierbar^ epoxidmodifizierte Gemisch von Reaktionsprodukten weist eine Restkonzentration an
Acrylsäure von weniger als 0,5 Gewichtsprozent auf.

Aus diesen Werten läßt sich die verbesserte Härte der
Überzugsmassen der Erfindung leicht erkennen.
Farbpräparate werden unter Verwendung von 58 Teilen des Gemisches von Reaktionsprodukten von
Beispiel 13 bis 15, 15 Teilen Pentaerythrittriacrylat, 10
Teilen schwarzem Pigment, 3 Teilen blauem Pigment, 5 Teilen Petrolatum, 8,7 Teilen Benzophenon und 13
Teilen Michlers-Keton (Versuche i, 2 bzw. 3) hergestellt
Zu Vergleichszwecken wird auch eine Farbe unter Verwendung von nicht modifizierten!, epoxidierten,
Leinsamenöl-acrylat (Versuch 4) verwendet Diese
Farben werden bewertet, indem man sie mit einem »Quick Peek Proofer« bis zu einer konstanten
Farbdichte aufbringt und durch Belichtung mit zwei

200 W/2,54 cm Quecksilberlampen mittleren Drucks in Luft härtet. Die Härtungszeiten bis zum Erhalt einer
trockenen Oberfläche betragen:

leicht modifizierten Präparats Unter Verwendung der Härtungsvorrichtung von Beispiel 6 erhalten
Claims (1)
1. Polymerisierbare, epoxidmodifizierte Masse aus
Epoxidderivaten von langkettigen ungesättigten Fettsäuren, Fettsäurestern oder Fettölen und viny-Herten
Carbonsäuren, dadurch gekennzeichnet,
daß sie aus einem Umsetzungsprodukt der folgenden vier Komponenten I-IV besteht:
(I) einer vinylierten Carbonsäure aus der Gruppe
(a) Acrylsäure und
(b) Methacrylsäure,
(II) einem aliphatischen Epoxid aus der Gruppe
(a) Epoxide von langkettigen, ungesättigten Fettsäuren oder deren Estern mit einer
aliphatischen Kette von 10 bis 24 Kohlenstoffatomen und mit mindestens einer Oxirangruppe und
(fa) Epoxide von 'langkettigen, ungesättigten Fettölen mit veresterten aliphatischen Säuveketten
von 10 bis 24 Kohlenstoffatomen, wobei mindestens eine der veresterten
Ketten eine Oxirangruppe enthält,
(III) einem Diepoxid aus der Gruppe
