Description
Die Erfindung betrifft die Kombination bestimmter Werkstoffe zur Herstellung von
Schmucksachen, insbesondere im Hinblick auf eine attraktive Oberfläche.
Es ist bekannt, aus verschiedensten Werkstoffen gefertigte Schmucksachen oberflächlich
mit dekorativen Schichten zu versehen. Damit Schmucksachen ihr attraktives Aussehen über lange Zeiträume bewahren, müssen die Deckschichten druckunempfindlich,
kratzfest und korrosionsbeständig sein. In diesem Zusammenhang ist bereits vorgeschlagen
worden, Hartstoff-Überzugsschichten mit goldähnlicher Eigenfarbe auf metallische Grundkörper, insbesondere auf Stahl aufzubringen. Hartstoff-Überzugsschichten
weisen jedoch eine sehr hohe, mit größer werdenden Schichtdicke noch zunehmende Sprödigkeit auf. Ihre Auftiagung auf einen Grundkörper ist in der Regel
mit großen Haftproblemen verbunden. Es kommt daher leicht zur Bildung von Mikrorissen
im Bereich der Grenzfläche zwischen Grundkörper und Deckschicht. Das wiederum führt zum teilweisen Ablösen der Deckschicht und zu Korrosionsreaktionen unedler
Grundkörpermeta I Ie.
Diese Haftprobleme stehen einmal mit der Benetzbarkeit des Grundmaterials durch den
Hartstoff und mit der Ähnlichkeit der jeweiligen Mefallgitterstrukturen in Zusammenhang.
Weiterhin ist wegen der Sprödigkeit der Deckschicht eine möglichst genaue Anpassung seiner elastischen und plastischen Eigenschaften an den Grundwerkstoff
wünschenswert. Gerade dies kann.jedoch bei der Verwendung von Gebrauchsmetallen
als Grundwerkstoff nicht ausreichend gut erfüllt werden. Schließlich wird die Haftung
der Deckschicht auch vom Grad der Übereinstimmung der thermischen Ausdehnungskoeffizienten
der aneinandergrenzenden Werkstoffe bestimmt.

Man glaubte bisher, die Gefahr der Bildung von Mikrorissen dadurch überwinden zu
können, daß man die Hartstoffschicht möglichst dünn ausbildete. Die nach der Auf"
tragung erfolgende Polierbehandlung der Hartstoffschichten verlangt jedoch eire Mindestschichtdicke von ca. 2 my, da andernfalls beim Polieren Teilbereiche des
Grundmateria is freigelegt werden.
Die mit wachsender Dicke zunehmende Sprödigkeit von Hartstoffschichten zwingt zur
Beschränkung auf Schichtstärken von weniger als 50 my Dicke, so daß bei der Verwendung
von Gebrauchsmefallen einschließlich Stahl als Grundwerkstoff keine ausreichende Druck"
belastbarkeif des Schmcukstückes gewährleistet ist. Vielmehr kommt es, insbesondere
bei örtlich hohen Druckbelastungen, zur Verformung des Grundmaterials, und damit
neben der Abplafzgefahr entsprechender Deckschichtbereiche überdies zu oberflächlich
sichtbaren, bleibenden plastischen Verformungen.
Die Erfindung betrifft nun Schmucksachen mit dekorativen Uberzugsschichten, bei denen
die Erfordernisse der Kratz" und Druckfestigkeit sowie die Korrosionsfestigkeit und die
Beständigkeit der attraktiven Eigenfarben gleichermaßen gut erfüllt sind» Erfindungs"
gemäß bestehen die Schmucksachen aus einem karbidhaltigen Hartmetall-Grundkörper
und einer oder mehreren übereinanderliegenden, insgesamt 1 "50 my dicken Hartstoff-Deckschichten
mit ansprechenden Eigenfarben.
Die karbidhaltigen Hartmetalle umfassen vorzugsweise Titankarbid mit Nickel als Bindemetall,
Wolframkarbid mit Kobaltbindephase sowie eine Mischung dieser Karbide mit geringen Anfeilen an Tantalkarbid und Niobkarbid. Diese Hartmetallsorten sind in
ihrer Herstellung technologisch ausgereift, sie haben die für den Grundkörper geforderte
Härte und besitzen ganz allgemein, als zu den Hartstoffen artverwandte Materialien,
ähnliche Eigenschaften. Vorallem das Titankarbidhartmetall ist zudem noch leicht,
relativ billig und bietet einen vorzüglichen Haftgrund für die meisten technisch interessanten
Hartstoffbeschichfungen.

Grundsätzlich sind für die Deckschicht alle bekannten Hartstoffe wie Karbide,
Nitride, Boride, Silizide und Oxyde der Elemente der III. bis VI. Gruppe des
Periodensystems, sowie deren Mischungen und Mischkristalle in Betracht zu ziehen.
Ihre Auftragung erfolgt nach bekannten Verfahren, wie dem Plasmaspritzen und insbesondere
in Form einer CVD~Beschichtung, das heißt aus der Gasphase.
Bevorzugt kommen vor allem solche Hartstoffe in Frage, die dem Schmuckstück wegen
ihrer Farbe ein besonders schönes, dekoratives Aussehen verleihen. Nachfolgend ist
eine Auswahl besonders geeigneter, farbiger Hartstoffe zusammengestellt:

Aber auch Mischungen und Mischkristalle verschiedener Hartstoffe können besondere
Farbeffekte zeigen und als Schichtmaterial in Frage kommen. So ist zum Beispiel eine
Mischung aus Titankarbid (20%) - Titannitrid (60%) - Tantalkarbid (20%) bronzefarben.
Die Deckschicht kann auch aus mehreren verschiedenfarbigen Hartstoffen gebildet sein.
In den Fällen, in denen die Materialeigenschaften von Hartmetall-Grundwerkstoff und
Hartstoff-Deckschicht keine ausreichend gute Haftung gewährleisten, hat sich Titankarbid
aufgrund seiner besonders guten Haftung auf praktisch allen hier vorgeschlagenen Materialien
als Hartstoffzwischenlage von 0,5 - 3 my Schichtdicke gut bewährt. Eine Titankarbidschicht
läßt sich leim Auftragen kontinuierlich in die Karbide anderer Übergangsmetalle
überführen, ohne eine Grenzfläche zwischen verschiedenen Gitterstrukturen zu bilden.
In gleicher Weise läßt sich eine Titankarbidschicht stufenlos in eine Reihe von Nitrid-
und Boridschichten überleiten.
Diese Werkstoffe eignen sich für eine Vielzahl von Schmucksachen, wie Uhrenschalen,
Manschettenknöpfen, Krawattennadeln, Ringe, Armreifen, Ohrgehänge und Elemente von
Anhängern und Halsketten.
Weitere Einzelheiten der Erfindung sind aus den folgenden Beispielen zu entnehmen:
Uhrenschalen aus Titankarbid-Nickel "Hartmetall sollen mit Titannitrid beschichtet werden.
Die Beschichtung erfolgt mit einem Gemisch aus TiCL, H„ und N„ bei 800 C. Nach
60 Minuten wird ein glänzender 5my dicker glatter Überzug aus Titannitrid erhalten, der
frei von Mikrorissen ist und eine gute Haftfestigkeit zum Grundmaterial zeigt. Durch
Polieren mit 1 my feinem ALO„ wird eine glatte und hochglänzende Oberfläche erhalten.

Manschettenknöpfe aus Tifankarbid-Hartmetall sollen mit Titannitrid beschichtet werden.
Die Beschichtung erfolgt nach dem CVD "Verfahren (Abscheidung aus der Gasphase),
wobei zunächst mit einer Mischung aus TiCL, H und CH . bei 850 Cein Titankarbidüberzug
abgeschieden wird. Nach 10 Minuten wird zum Gasgemisch NL zudosiert.
Innerhalb von 15 Minuten wird nun der CH ."Anteil stetig reduziert und danach ohne
Methan noch weitere 20 Minuten beschichtet. Die Manschettenknöpfe weisen eine 9 my
dicke Schicht auf, die über dem Grundmaterial aus einer 1 my dicken Titankarbidschicht
und darüber einer 3 my dicken Titankarbonitridschicht besteht, die in eine 5 my dicke
Schicht aus Titannitrid übergeht. Das Titankarbonitrid zeigt auf der Seite des Grundkörpers
einen hohen, auf der Seite des Titannitrides einen geringen Kohlenstoffgehalt. Durch
Polieren mit ALO_ wird ein hochglänzender Titannitridüberzug erhalten, der aufgrund
seines mehrlagigen Aufbaues frei von Mikrorissen ist.
Ein Anhänger aus Wolframkarbid "Hartmetall soll mit einer schwarzen Hartstoffschicht
aus LaN versehen werden.
Die Abscheidung der Titankarbid-Zwischenschicht erfolgt bei 860 Caus der Gasphase,
wobei 15 Minuten lang mit einem Gasgemisch, bestehend aus TiCL, H~ unc* ^H , beschichtet
wird. Während der nächsten 15 Minuten wird N? zudosiert und der CH . Anteil
auf die Hälfte reduziert. Danach wird bei gleicher Temperatur 30 Minuten mit einem Gasgemisch aus LaCI , N„ und H_ die Deckschicht aus LaN aufgebracht. Der
beschichtete Anhänger weist drei Hartstoff lagen auf, wobei direkt auf das Grundmaterial
eine 2 my dicke Titankarbidschicht aufgetragen ist, die titankarbidseitig einen hohen
Kohlenstoffgehalt und LaN-seitig einen hohen Stickstoffgehalt aufweist. Die darüber
befindliche schwarze LaN"Schrcht zeigt eine Schichtdicke von 4 my und läßt sich mit
ALO auf Hochglanz polieren.

Claims (6)
- -6 Patentansprüche 25A0862. Schmucksachen mit dekorativen Uberzugsschichten, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß diese aus einem karbidhaltigen Hartmetallgrundkörper und einer oder mehreren über" einanderliegenden, insgesamt I "50 my dicken Hartstoffdeckschichten mit das gesamte Farbspektrum umfassenden Eigenfarben bestehen.
- 2. Schmucksachen nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Hartstoffdeck" schickten aus Karbiden, Nitriden, Karbonitriden und Boriden der Elemente Titan, Hafnium, Zirkonium, Vanadium, Niob, Tantal, Woflram, Lanthan, Cer und Gadolinium, einzeln oder zu mehreren bestehen.
- 3. Schmucksachen nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß auf einen Titankarbid" HartmefaUgrundkörper eine Deckschicht aus Titannitrid bzw. Titankarbonitrid aufgebracht ist.
- 4. Schmucksachen nach den Ansprüchen 1 und 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß auf einen karbidhaltigen Hartmetallgrundkörper, vorzugsweise auf Wolframkarbid-Hart" metalt, Titankarbid-Hartstoff als Zwischenschicht aufgetragen ist.
- 5. Schmucksachen nach den Ansprüchen 1 und 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß auf einen Wolframkarbind-Hartmetallgrundkörper eine Titan karbid"Hartstoffzwischenschicht und eine Titankarbonitrid- bzw. Titann if riddeckschicht aufgetragen sind.
- 6. Schmucksachen nach den Ansprüchen 1, 2, 4 und 5, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Lagen mehrerer verschiedenartiger Deckschichten kontinuierlich ineinander übergehen.609815/0369
