Description
Verfahren zur Herstellung flammwidriger Polytriazine
Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Herstellung flammwidriger
Polytriazine durch Poly-tri-merisation Phosphor und ggf. aromatische Gyanamidgruppeη enthaltender aromatischer
Cyansäureester.
Aus der DT-PS 1 190 184 ist es bekannt, hochmolekulare Polytriazine
dadurch herzustellen, daß man di- oder polyfunktionelle aromatische Cyansäureester, ggf. in Anwesenheit
von die Polymerisation fördernden Stoffen, bei erhöhter Temperatur polymerisiert.
Weiter ist es aus der japanischen Anmeldung (JA 6265/66
bekannt, primäre Diamine mit Halogencyan zu Di(cyanamiden) umzusetzen und diese zu Polymeren zu verarbeiten.
Ein Nachteil der vorgenannten Polymeren ist ihre ungenügende Plammwidrigke it.

kann, wenn man Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formel (i)

Pro Mol Phosphor(oxy)trihalogenid werden mehr als 0,5 und
weniger als 3 Mole der Verbindungen der Formel (I) eingesetzt. Dabei hat sich herausgestellt, daß stets auf 1 Mol
Phosphor (oxy) tr ihalogenid bezogen - folgende Molverhältnisse besonders günstig sind:
difunktioneile Verbindungen (n+m=2)
>1,5 bis <3 Mole trifunktioneile Verbindungen
>1 bis <3 Mole tetrafunktionelle Verbindungen
>0,75 bis< 3 Mole pentafunktionelle Verbindungen >0,6 bis<
3 Mole hexafunktionelle Verbindungen >0,5 bis< 3 Mole.
Dabei werden praktisch nur höherkondensierte, d.h. Kondensate mit mehr als ein Phosphoratom pro Kondensatmolekül
gebildet. Für die Herstellung der monomolekularen, ein Phosphoratom enthaltenden Kondensate, beispielsweise der
Formel O=P (OCgH5OH)3, müssen theoretisch 3 Mole
Diphenol, praktisch 4 bis 10 und mehr Mole eingesetzt werden.
Die Kondensation des Phosphor (oxy)trihalogenids mit dem
Aminophenol bzw. Di- oder Polyphenol kann in Substanz, in inerten Lösungsmitteln oder Suspensionsmedien in
Gegenwart einer Base bei Temperaturen von -40 bis 250°C, vorzugsweise von 0 bis 150°C, erfolgen.
Natürlich können auch die Phenolate direkt eingesetzt werden.
Als Lösungs- oder Suspensionsmedium kommen in Frage:
Aliphatische Ketone wie Aceton, Methyläthylketon, Diäthylketon, Methylisopropylketon, Methylisobutylketon; aliphatische
oder aromatische Kohlenwasserstoffe, wobei bei aliphatischen Kohlenwasserstoffen bevorzugt die bei der
Destillation der natürlich vorkommenden Gemische anfallenden Fraktionen wie Petroläther, Leichtbenzin, Benzin verwendet
werden, während als aromatische Kohlenwasserstoffe Le A 16 470 - 8 -

beispielsweise Benzol, Toluol und die Xylole genannt seien; aliphatische und aromatische Chlorkohlenwasserstoffe, wie
Dichlormethan, Dichloräthan, Perchloräthylen, Dichlorpropan,
Chlorbenzol, Dichlorbenzol; Äther wie Diäthyläther, Diisopropyläther, Nitrokohlenwasserstoffe wie Nitromethan,
Nitrobenzol; Amide wie Dimethylformamid, Dirnethylacetamid
oder Gemische derselben.
Als Basen können bei der Kondensation verwendet werden:
Alkalihydroxide wie Natriumhydroxid, Kaliumhydroxid,
Erdalkalihydroxide wie Calciumhydroxid, Carbonate wie Natriumcarbonat, Kaliumcarbonat, Cal^iumcarbonat, oder
tert. Amine, wie Trimethylamin, Triäthylamin.
Die Mengen an eingesetzten Basen bzw. Basengemischen betragen bis 3,2 Mole, vorzugsweise 3 Mol pro Mol
Phosphor(oxy)trihalogenid.
Nach der Kondensation können die Phosphor enthaltenden (Amino)Phenole bzw. Di- oder Polyphenole nach eventueller
Entfernung der Salze durch Auswaschen, Filtrieren, Zentrifugieren usw. in Lösung oder Suspension mit Halogencyan
in Gegenwart einer Base nach dem aus der GB-PS 1 007 für die Herstellung von aromatischen Cyansäureestern bekannten
Verfahren umgesetzt werden. Pro primäre

Amino- "bzw. pro phenolische Hydroxylgruppe können je 1 1.1
Mole Halogencyan und je 1 Mol einer Base oder Basengemisches
eingesetzt werden. Die Umsetzungstemperaturen können zwischen -400C und +65°0 liegen. Als Basen können
anorganische Basen wie Natriumhydroxid, Kaliumhydroxid,
Soda, Pottasche, Calciumhydroxid oder tert. Amine, wie Trimethylamin oder Triäthylamin eingesetzt v/erden und
als Lösungs- oder Suspensionsmittel Wasser, Alkohole, Ketone, Kohlenwasserstoffe, Chlorkohlenwasserstoffe oder
deren Mischungen.
Sollen besonders lagerstabile, Phosphor, Cyanamid- und
Cyansäureestergruppen bzw. Phosphor- und Cyansäureestergruppen
enthaltende Produkte für die Herstellung der Polytriazine bzw. ihrer Prepolymeren eingesetzt werden,
so empfiehlt es sich, analog den Verfahren der deutschen
Patentanmeldungen P 25 29 486.4 oder P 25 29 487.5 zu arbeiten, welche die Herstellung hochreiner mehrwertiger
Cyansäureester ohne Cyanamidgruppen betreffen.
Gemäß deutscher Patentanmeldung P 25 29 486.4 werden Di- oder Polytrialkyl-ammoniumphenolate, (z.B. Poly-triäthyl-ammoniumphenolate) ggf. in Gegenwart katalytischer Mengen von Trialkylaminen, wie Triäthylamin, mit einem Überschuß von Halogencyan in einem organischen Lösungsmittel zu den entsprechenden aromatischen Cyansäureester^ umgesetzt.
Gemäß deutscher Patentanmeldung P 25 29 487.5 werden Alkalioder ErdalkalisalzB, vorzugsweise Natrium, Kalium-, Calcium-
und Bariumsalze von aromatischen Di- oder Polyhydroxyverbindungen mit Halogencyan in einem Lösungsmittel ggf. in Gegenwart
katalytischer Mengen eines tertiären Amins umgesetzt.
Pro primäre Amino- bzw. pro phenolische Hydroxylgruppe können nach diesen Verfahren je 1-2 Mole, bevorzugt 1-1.4 Mole
Halogencyan und pro primäre Amino- bzw. pro phenolische Hydroxylgruppe je 1-1.8 Mole, bevorzugt je 1-1.3 Mole einer

Base oder Basengemisches verwendet werden, wobei die Base oder das Basengemisch stets im Unterschuß zum Halogencyan
eingesetzt wird.
Als Lösungsmittel können beispielsweise verwendet werden: Wasser, niedere aliphatische Alkohole wie Methanol, Äthanol,
Propanol, Isopropanol, Butanol; aliphatische Ketone wie Aceton, Methyläthylketon, Diäthylketon, Methylisopropylketon,
Methylisobutylketon; aliphatische oder aromatische Kohlenwasserstoffe, wobei bei aliphatischen Kohlenwasserstoffen
bevorzugt die bei der Destillation der natürlich vorkommenden Gemische anfallenden Fraktionen wie Petroläther,
Leichtbenzin, Benzin verwendet werden, während als aromatische Kohlenwasserstoffe beispielsweise Benzol, Toluol
und Xylole genannt sein: aliphatische und aromatische Chlorkohlenwasserstoffe, wie Dichlormethan, Dichloräthan,
Perchloräthylen, Chlorbenzol, Dichlorbenzol; Äther wie
Diäthyläther, Diisopropyläther, Dioxan, Tetrahydrofuran, Di-sec. butyläther, Nitrokohlenwasserstoffe wie Nitromethan,
Nitrobenzol, Nitrotoluol, Amide wie Dimethylformamid,
Dimethylacetamid und Gemische derselben.
Als anorganische bzw. organische Basen werden die in der GB-PS 1 007 790 genannten eingesetzt.
Das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren wird im allgemeinen im
Temperaturbereich zwischen -400C und +650C, vorzugsweise
zwischen 0 und 30°C durchgeführt. Bei Verwendung von
Chlorcyan wird die Umsetzung vorzugsweise unterhalb des Siedepunktes (130C) durchgeführt, bei der Verwendung von
Bromcyan können jedoch auch Temperaturen von über 500C
Anwendung finden.
Im allgemeinen wird so gearbeitet, daß die Phosphor enthaltenden
Aminophenole bzw. Di- oder Polyphenole, die anorganische und/oder organische Base, im lösungsmittel gelöst bzw. suspendiert,
unter gutem Rühren in eine Lösung von Halogencyan im

Lösungsmittel zugeben wird. Die dabei anfallenden Cyanamid- gruppen enthaltenden Cyansäureester bzw. die Cyansäureester
können leicht durch Extraktion von den anhaftenden anorganischen bzw. organischen Salzen befreit und nach an sich bekannten
Methoden wie Abnutschen, Abfiltrieren, Abschleudern isoliert werden.
Tertiäre Amine, die in Anlehnung an die deutsche Patentan meldung ρ 25 29 487.5 in katalytischen Mengen (0.001 bis
10 Gew.-%, insbesondere 0.001 bis 1.0 Gew.-#, bezogen auf
Alkali- oder Erdalkaliphenolat) Verwendung finden, entsprechen der allgemeinen Formel

untereinander nicht gleich zu sein brauchen, mit 1 bis zu 36 C-Atomen, insbesondere bis zu
18 C-Atomen bedeuten. Beispielsweise seien genannt: Trimethylamin, Triäthylamin,
Methyldiäthylamin, Tripropylamin, Tributylamin, Methyldibutylamin, Dinonylmethylamin.
Dimethylstearylamin, Dimethylcyclohexylamin, Diäthylanilin.
Als Halogencyan kommt besonders das technisch leicht zugängliche Chlorcyan und Bromcyan infrage.
Die erfindungsgemäß erhaltenen Phosphor-,Cyansäureester-
und ggf. Oyanaraidgruppen enthaltenden Produkte stellen
Prepolymere von flüssiger, wachsartiger oder fester Konsistenz dar und sind in organischen Lösungsmitteln
löslich. Sie sind außerordentlich lagerstabil.

Wie das IR-Spektrum zeigt, besitzen sie praktisch keine
Triazinstrukturen, sondern die Bande der -O-C-N-Gruppe
bei 4.5/U.
Die Prepolymeren können durch Erhitzen auf ca. 500C -35O0C, vorzugsweise 1000C bis 2500C, ggf. in Gegenwart
eines Katalysators oder Katalysatorgemisches in Lösung oder Substanz, in hochmolekulare Polymere mit Triazinstruktur überführt werden. Die Endprodukte sind in Lösungsmitteln praktisch unlöslich und nicht mehr aufschmelzbar.
Wie das Infrarotspektrum zeigt, liegen außer Triazinstrukturen keine anderen Verknüpfungsprinzipien im Polymeren vor.
Das Entstehen der hochmolekularen Polymeren mit Triazinstrukturen aus den Cyanamidgruppen enthaltenden Cyansäureestern
deutet darauf hin, daß an der Triazinringbildung Cyansäureester-
und Cyanamidgruppen gleichermaßen beteiligt sind.
Als Katalysatoren bei der Herstellung des hochmolekularen Endpolymeren mit Triazinstrukturen
können Säuren, Basen, Salze, Stickstoff- und Phosphorverbindungen eingesetzt werden, beispielsweise Lewis-Säuren,
wie AlCl3, BF3, FeCl3, TiCl4, ZnCl2, SnCl4, Protonsäuren,
wie HCl, H3PO4; aromatische Hydroxyverbindungen, wie Phenol,
p-Nitrophenol, Brenzcatechin, Dihydroxynapthalin; Natriumhydroxid, Natriummethylat, Natriumphenolat, Trimethylamin, Triäthylamin, Tributylamin, Diazabicyclo(2,2,2)-octan, Chinolin, Isochinolin, Tetrahydroisochinolin,

Tetraäthylammoniumchlor id, Pyridin-N-oxid, Tributylphosphin,
Phospholin-Δ^-1-oxa-l-phenyl, Zinkoctoat, Zinnoctoat,

Die Katalysatoren können in Mengen von 0.001 bis 10 Gew.-%,
bezogen auf Prepolymer bzw. auf CyanamLdgruppen enthaltenden Cyansäureester, oder falls gewünscht, in noch größeren Mengen
eingesetzt werden.*
Die Phosphor, Cyanamid- und/oder Cyansäureestergruppen ent haltenden Verbindungen können, gelöst in inerten Lösungsmitteln wie Aceton, Benzol, Xylol, Chlorbenzol, Essigester, Tetrahydrofuran, Dibutyläther, Dimethylformamid, oder in Pulverform zur Herstellung von überzügen und Beschichtungen auf
Substraten wie Metallen, Keramik, Glas, Tonwaren usw. verwendet werden oder in organischen Lösungsmitteln gelöst,
als Tränklack oder Laminlerhärze. Die Ausgangsprodukte können,
falls gewünscht, mit Füllstoffen, Pigmenten, Glasfasern, Metallfasern und Glasgeweben kombiniert werden und zur
Herstellung von Formkörpern oder Schichtpreßstoffen Verwendung finden. Nach der Aushärtung werden gelb bis
braungefärbte,transparente Endprodukte mit hoher Härte und
Temperaturbeständigkeit und guter Flamrawidrigkeit erhalten.
Natürlich ist es auch möglich, die erfindungsgemäß erhaltenen
Produkte vor der Überführung in Polytriazine mit anderen Cyansäureester- und/oder Cyanamidgruppen enthaltenden Produkten
abzumischen und dann zu polytrimerisieren.
Die in den Beispielen angegebenen Prozentgehalte und Teile
beziehen sich auf das Gewicht, sofern nicht anders vermerkt .

684 g (3 Mol) Bis-2,2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)propan werden mit 161 g (1,05 Mol) destilliertem Phosphoroxychlorid in
1,5 1 Methylenchlorid vorgelegt. Zu dieser Lösung werden unter Rühren bei Rückflußtemperatur 318 g (3,15 Mol)
Triäthylamin langsam zugetropft. Anschließend wird 3 Stunden unter Rückfluß nachgerührt. Nach dem Abkühlen wird
das ausgefallene Triäthylaminhydrochlorid abgesaugt und mit Methylenchlorid gewaschen. Die vereinigten Methylenchloridphasen
werden mit Wasser chloridfrei gewaschen. Das Lösungsmittel wird abdestilliert und der Rückstand
bei 1000C und 0,2 bar vom restlichen Lösungsmittel befreit.
Man erhält 727 g (98,8% d.Tb.) Phosphorsäureester. Fp:
84 - 900C.
72,8 g (0,1 Mol) des so erhaltenen Phosphorsäureesters werden mit 20 g (0,33 Mol) Chlorcyan in 200 ml Aceton
bei O0C gelöst. Bei O0C bis +50C werden 31,3 g (0,31 Mol)
Triäthylamin zugetropft. Das Triäthylaminhydrochlorid wird abfiltriert und das Lösungsmittel abdestilliert. Der
Rückstand wird in 200 ml Methylenchlorid aufgenommen und mit Wasser chloridfrei gewaschen. Nach dem Abdestillieren
des Lösungsmittels erhält man den Phosphor enthaltenden aromatischen Cyansäureester. Ausbeute 78 g (97%). Das
gewonnene Produkt ist leicht durch die typische Bande im IR-Spektrum für die -O-C-N-Gruppe bei 4,5,u zu
charakterisieren.
10 g des Phosphor enthaltenden Cyansäureesters werden 5 Stunden auf 1800C und anschließend 1 Stunde auf 2000C
erhitzt. Man erhält ein gelbbraunes, sehr hartes, sprödes, transparentes nicht brennbares Polytriazin, das im
IR-Spektrum, die für den s-Triazinring charakteristischen Bande bei 6,4 und 7,25 /U zeigt.

Beispiel 2: Λν
85,2 g (0,3 Mol) Bis-2,2-(4-hydroxy-3,5-dimethylphenyl)-propan
werden analog Beispiel 1 mit 16,8 g (0,11 Mol) Phosphoroxychlorid in 300 ml Dichloräthan mit 33,4 g
(0,33 Mol) Triäthylamin umgesetzt. Man erhält 89 g (99% d.Th.) Phosphorsäureester. 90 g (0,1 Mol) des
so erhaltenen Phosphorsäureesters werden mit 20 g (0,33 Mol) Chlorcyan und 31,3 g (0,31 Mol) Triäthylamin in 200 ml
Dimethylacetamid analog Beispiel 1 umgesetzt. Man erhält 90 g Phosphor-haltigen Cyansäureester. (Ausbeute 92,5% d.Th.)
IR-Spektrum: -O-C-N bei 4,5/U. Die Aushärtung zu einem sehr
harten, hellgelben, transparenten, nicht brennbaren PoIytriazin erfolgt in Gegenwart von 0,05 Gew.-% Zinkoctoat
bei 18O0C innerhalb von 4 Stunden.
66 g (0,6 Mol) Hydrochinon und 33,6 g (0,22 Mol) Phosphoroxychlorid
werden analog Beispiel 2 mit 66,8 g (0,66 Mol) Triäthylamin angesetzt. Die erhaltene Dichloräthanlösung
des Phosphoresters wird direkt mit 40 g (0,66 Mol) Chlorcyan
versetzt und bei O0C mit 62,6 g (0,62 Mol) Triäthylamin
umgesetzt. Das ausgefallene Triäthylaminhydrochlorid wird abfiltriert und mit Dichloräthan nachgewaschen. Die
vereinigten Dichloräthanlösungen werden mit Wasser chloridfrei gewaschen. Nach Abdestillieren des Lösungsmittels
erhält man 82 g (91% d.Th.) Phosphor-haltigen Cyansäureester (IR-Spektrum: -O-C-N Bande bei 4,5/u).
Die Aushärtung dieses Cyansäureester erfolgt nach Zugabe
von 0,05 Gew.-% Brenzcatechin und 0,05 Gew.-% Diazabicyclo-(2,2,2)-octan
bei 2100C innerhalb von 5 Stunden. Man erhält ein hellbraunes, sprödes, hartes, nicht brennbares PoIytriazin.

68,4 g (0,3 Mol) Bis-2,2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-propan werden
mit 17,8 g (0,105 Mol) Phosphorthiochlorid in 300 ml
Methylenchlorid analog Beispiel 1 mit 31,8 (0,315 Mol) Triäthylamin umgesetzt. Der so erhaltene Phosphorsäureester
wird in Dimethylacetamid mit 20 g (0,33 Mol) Chlorcyan
und 31,3 g (0,31 Mol) Triäthylamin bei O0C analog Beispiel 1 zu einem dunkelbraunen,Phosphor enthaltenden
Cyansäureester umgesetzt. (IR-Spektrum: -OCN bei 4,5/U.)
Durch 3-stündiges Erhitzen auf 1700C erhält man aus diesem
Cyansäureester ein hartes, sprödes, schwarzbraun gefärbtes, nicht brennbares Polytriazin.
68,1 g (0,3 Mol) 2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-2-(4-aminophenyl)-propan werden mit 16 g (0,1045 Mol) Phosphoroxychlorid in
300 ml Methylenchlorid analog Beispiel 1 mit 31,8 g (0,315 Mol) Triäthylamin umgesetzt. 73 g (0,1 Mol) des
so erhaltenen Phosphorsäuretriamid werden mit 20 g (0,33 Mol) Chlorcyan bei 0°C in 200 ml Methyläthylketon mit 31,3 g
(0,31 Mol) Triäthylamin analog Beispiel 1 zu einem Phosphor enthaltenden Cyansäureester umgesetzt (-O-C-N-Bande bei 4,5 Ai)
Die Aushärtung dieses Cyansäureester zu einem braunen, sehr harten, nicht brennbaren Polytriazin erfolgt bei 2300C
in Gegenwart von 0,01 Gew.-% Zinkoctoat innerhalb von 3 Stunden.
32,7 g (0,3 Mol) p-Aminophenol werden mit 16 g (0,1045 Mol)
Phosphoroxychlorid analog Beispiel 5 mit 31,8 g (0,315 Mol) Triäthylamin umgesetzt. 37 g (0,1 Mol) des so erhaltenen
Phosphorsäuretriamids werden mit 20 g (0,33 Mol) Chlorcyan
bei O0C in 200 ml Methylenchlorid mit 31,3 g (C,31 Mol)
Triäthylamin analog Si!spiel 5 angesetzt. Man erhält 4,0 g
(8996 d.Th.) Phosphor enthaltenden Cyansäureester

Die Aushärtung zu einem harten, braunen, nicht brennbaren Polytriazin erfolgt bei 2000C in Gegenwart von 0,01 Gew.-%
Zinnoctoat innerhalb von 3 Stunden.
50 Tl Bis-2,2-(4-cyanatophenyl)-propan und 50 Tl des nach
Beispiel 1 erhaltenen Phosphor enthaltenden Cyansäureester werden gemischt und in Gegenwart von 0,01 Gew.-96 Zinkoctoat
bei 18O0C innerhalb von 6 Stunden zu einem harten honigfarbenen,
schwer entflammbaren Polytriazin polymerisiert.

Claims (3)
1) Verfahren zur Herstellung flammwidriger phosphorhaltiger
Polytriazine durch Polytrimerisation, ggf. in. Gegenwart von
die Polymerisation fördernden Stoffen, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formel (I)
(H2N)n Ar (0H)m (I)
in der Ar einen aromatischen oder Brückenglieder unterbrochenen
aromatischen Rest bedeutet, η für eine der Zahlen 0, 1 oder 2 und m für eine der Zahlen 1, 2, 3 oder 4 stehen,
wobei die Summe η + ra mindestens 2 sein muß, mit Phosphortrihalogenid
oder Phosphoroxytrihalogenid in Gegenwart einer
Base kondensiert, wobei auf 1 Mol Phosphor(oxy)trihalogenid
weniger als 3 Mol einer Verbindung der Formel I entfallen, anschließend die noch freien Amino- bzw. phenolischen
Hydroxylgruppen mit Halogencyan in Gegenwart einer Base oder Basengemisches zu Cyanamid- bzw. uyansaureestergruppen
umsetzt und diese Umsetzungsprodukte zu flammwidrigen, hochmolekularen, in Lösungsmitteln praktisch unlöslichen
Polytriazinen bei Temperaturen bis 3500C polytrimerisiert.
2) Verfahren gemäß Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß pro Mol Phosphor (oxy) trihalogenid mehr als 1,5 aber weniger
als 3 Mol einer difunktionellen Verbindung der Formel I
kondensiert.
3) Polytriazine, erhalten gemäß einem der Ansprüche
1 oder 2.
