Description
Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft ein Lithiumseifenschmierfett, welches neben der üblichen Schmierölgrundlage und herkömmlichen
Schmierfettzusatzstoffen ein Verdickungsmittel, bestehend aus dem Lithiumsalz des 12-Hydroxystearinsäuremethylesters
und Borsäure, enthält.
Schmierfette sind bei vielen Anwendungen den Schmierölen überlegen.
Sie werden beispielsweise eingesetzt, um den Zutritt störender Fremdstoffe durch ein Fettpolster
zu vermeiden - Verwendung in Wälzlagern oder Stoffbüchsen um einen sehr geringen Schmiermittelbedarf sicher zu stellen
- Verwendung an Ach3köpfen, bei Lagern mit häufiger Betriebsunterbrechung -
um den Wartungsaufwand klein zu halten - Verwendung in
schwer zugänglichen Lagern oder in Haushaltsmaschinenlagern oder
um den Schmiermittelbedarf an Schmierstellen mit langsamen Gleitbewegungen, hohen Flächendrücken und/oder stark wechselnden
Belastungen zu sichern - Verwendung z. B. an landwirtschaftlichen Geräten und Fahrzeugen -.
Von den einzelnen.Schmierfett-Typen sind insbesondere Alumimium-
und Lithium

nium-, Calcium-, Natrium- und Lithiumseifenfette bekannt _
geworden. Lithiumseifenfette werden seit vielen Jahren in
großem Umfang eingesetzt. Ihre große Verbreitung rührt daher, daß sie die wesentlichen Vorteile von Calcium- und Natriumseifenfetten
vereinigen. D. h. sie weisen eine gute Wässertes
tändigkeit, hohe Scherstabilität und obere Gebrauchstemperaturen über 100 C auf.
Es hat sich aber gezeigt, daß in vielen Fällen, z.B. bei der Schmierung von Radlagern einiger PKW-Typen, die Temperaturbeständigkeit
dieser Fette nicht mehr ausreicht. Bsonders bei Fahrzeugen, die mit in der Nähe der Radlager angebrachten
Scheibenbremsen ausgerüstet sind, hat man auf Gebirgsstrekken, die häufiges Abbremsen erfordern, Lagertemperaturen von
180 bis 2000C gemessen. Bei Verwendung von Lithiumseifenfetten
herkömmlicher Art besteht in solchen Fällen die Gefahr, daß die Fette bei dieser Beanspruchung aus den Lagern auslaufen
und u. U. die Scheibenbremsen verschmieren.
Ein weiteres Beispiel ist die Schmierung von Heißluftventilatorenlagern.
Auch hier können Temperaturen von 150 bis 2000C in den Lagern erreicht werden. Lithiumseifenfette mit Tropfpunkten
bis 2000C können zur Schmierung dieser Lager nicht mehr eingesetzt werden.
Als zum Stand der Technik gehörig ist der in der DT-OS Kr.
21 57 207 beschriebene Erfindungsgegenstand zu erwähnen, nach welchem sich ein Lithiumseifenfett herstellen läßt. Das
neben dem Schmieröl notwendige Verdickungssystem läßt drei Hauptbestandteile erkennen:
die Lithiumseife einer Hydroxyfettsäure mit -12 bis 24
C-Atomen,
das Lithiumsalz einer zweiten Hydroxyfettsäure mit 5 bis
14 C-Atomen
das Dilithiumsalz einer 4 bis 12 C-Atome enthaltenden
Dicarbonsäure, wobei diese Dicarbonsäure wahlweise durch
das Monolithiumsalz der Borsäure ersetzt werden kann.

Weitfer ist aus der deutschen, hoch nicht offengelegten Patentanmeldung
mit dem Aktenzeichen P 22 64 263.3-43 ein konsistenzgebendes Verdickungsmittel in einem Lithiumseifenschräierfett
zu entnehmen, das aus 5 -bis 2Q Gew.-% einer Litliitiiüseife einer Hydroxystearirisäure und D,1 bis 3 G-ew»-%
des Lithiumsalzes einer Borverbindung besteht, wobei" dieses Verdickungsmittel dem Schmierfett einen erweiterten Gebrauchsteiüpörätürbereich
verleiht.
Schließlich sei auf die DT-OS Nr. 22 35 098, die eine weitere
Ausgestaltung der unter der Nr. 21 57 207 angemeldeten Erfindung bezweckt, verwiesen, in welcher die im Verdickungssystem
des Schmierfettes der Hauptanmeldung enthaltene zweite Hydroxyfettsäure mit einem niederen Alkohol verestert
sein soll.
Aufgabe der vorliegenden Erfindung war es nun, die bekannt
gewordenen Nächteile, herkömmlicher -Lithiumseifenfette zu
überwindeil und ein Lithiumseifenfett zu schaffen, welches eine hohe Temperaturbeständigkeit bei der Schmierung von
beispielsweise Wälzlagern aufweist, wobei der Umstand zu berücksichtigen war, daß der Einsatz sowohl von relativ
teurem Lithiuintetraborat als auch mehrerer Hydroxycarbonsäuren gleichzeitig im Verdickungssystem eines Schmierfettes
eine Kostensteigerung bedeutete, welche vom Markt nicht ohne weiteres aufgenommen wurde.
Bei der Suche nach einem preiswerteren und damit auch einfacher konzipiertem Lithiumseifenschmierfett ergab sich als
Gegenstand der Erfindung ein Lithiumseifenschmierfett mit hohen Tropfpunkten, das aus einem Schmieröl, üblichen Zusatzstoffen,'
sowie einer hydroxyfettsauren Lithiumseife und einer Verbindung des Elements Bor als konsistenzgebendes
Verdickungsmittel, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß als Verdikkungsmittel die Lithiumseife eines Esters der 12-Hydroxystearinsäure
und Borsäure enthalten sind.

Es wurde gefunden, daß die Temperaturbeständigkeit dieses verbesserten Lithiumseifenschmierfettes bei Verwendung eines
Esters der.12-HydroxyStearinsäure, bevorzugt des Methylesters,
und von Borsäure erheblich erhöht ist und sich eine deutlich gestiegene Beständigkeit gegenüber oxidativen
Einflüssen neben längerer Schmierdauer ergibt.
Weiterhin ergibt sich, daß bei Verwendung des Methylesters und des Dilithiumborats ebenfalls eine starke Tropfpunkterhöhung
ermittelt werden kann.
Üblicherweise setzen sich diese Schmierfette aus drei Hauptkomponenten
zusammen:
der flüssigen Phase - das G-rundöl dem
Dickungsmittel den Zusatzstoffen.
Die handelsüblichen Schmierfette enthalten normalerweise naphthenische Mineralöle, paraffinische Öle oder auch schwach
raffinierte Öle. Es ist aber auch üblich, vor allem, wenn Schmierfette speziellen Beanspruchungen ausgesetzt werden,
synthetische Flüssigkeiten, wie Polyalkylglykole, Esteröle hergestellt-aus zweibasischen Säuren und einwertigen Alkoholen
oder aus einbasischen Säuren und mehrwertigen Alkoholen, Silicone, halogenierte Kohlenwasserstoffe oder Phenyläther,
zu verwenden. Pur das erfindungsgemäße Schmierfett werden bevorzugt Mineralöle und die dem Nachlauf der Alkylbenzolsynthese
entstammenden Alkylbenzole verwendet.
Als Zusatzstoffe im Schmierfett sind Wirkstoffe, z. B. Oxidations- und Korrosionsinhibitoren, Schmierfähigkeitsverbesserer
und Hochdruckzusätze gebräuchlich.
Erfindungswesent lieh ist das Verdickungsmittel oder -system,
welches aus einem Ester der 12-Hydroxystearinsäure, vorzugsweise
dem Methylester, dem zur Seifenbildung benötigten

- - 5 Alkalihydroxid, hier Lithiumhydroxid, und Borsäure besteht.
Es hat sich erwiesen, daß 5 his 20 Gew.-% ("bezogen auf den
G-esamtschmierfettansatz)· Lithiumseife und 0,1 his 3 Gew.-%
(ebenfalls bezogen auf den Gesamtschmierfettansatz) Borsäure im Verdickungsmittel ausreichend sind. Als bevorzugt
werden 7,5 bis 15 Gew.-% Lithiumseife und 0,15 bis 1,5 ,-% Borsäure angesehen.
Formulierung,' Herstellung und Eigenschaften des neuen Schmierfettes
werden durch die nachfolgenden Beispiele belegt:
Einwaage: 10,0 kg 12-Hydroxystearinsäure
1,73 kg LiOH . H2O
0,50 kg Borsäure.
87,77 kg Solvat, paraffinbasisch, 65 cSt/50°C
0,50 kg Borsäure.

Herstellung:
In Gegenwart von 30 kg Solvat wurden bei 700C 10,0 kg 12-Hydroxystearinsäure
mit 1,73 kg LiOH . H2O, zusammen mit
0,5 kg Borsäure in 10 Liter Wasser gelöst, verseift. Nach der Entwässerung bei 1000C wurde die Temperatur des Ansatzes
innerhalb von 2 Stunden auf 2100C gesteigert. Bei 1500C
wurden weitere 30 kg Solvat und bei 2100C der Rest von
27,77 kg zugegeben. Nach anschließender Auskühlung auf 600C
unter intensivem Rühren erfolgte die Homogenisierung der Charge mittels einer Korundscheibenmühle.
Ein nach dieser Formulierung und der beschriebenen Verfahrensweise
hergestelltes Fett wies folgende Daten auf:
Tropfpunkt .......β : 2210C
Ruhpenetration .........: 269 mm/10
Walkpenetration 9. „ : 263 mm/10

Herstellung:
In einem geeigneten TCührwerksb ehält er wurden 10,0 kg; 12-
methylester
Hydroxystearinsäure^zusammen mit 25,0 kg Maschinenöl-Raffinat
auf 85°C erhitzt und anschließend mit 1,5 kg LiOH-Monohydrat gelöst in 10 Liter kochendem Wasser, verseift.
Während der Entwässerungsperiode Dei 1000G wurden 0,5 kg
UpB4O7 zugegeben. Nach erfolgter Entwässerung wurde die
Temperatur des Kesselinhaltes innerhalb von 2 Stunden auf 2400C gesteigert. Während des Aufheizens wurde ein weiterer
Teil des Maschinenöls (25 kg) bei 155°O zugegeben. Das restliche Öl wurde dem Ansatz nach Erreichen der Maximaltemperatur
von 240 G zugegeben. Anschließend wurde die
Charge auf 600C kaltgerührt. Bei dieser Temperatur erfolgte
mittels einer Korundscheibenmühle die Homogenisierung des Ansatzes,
Man erhielt auf diese Weise ein Schmierfett mit einem Tropfpunkt von 2650C nach DIN 51 801, einer Ruhpenetration von
272 mm/10 und einer Walkpenetration (60 Hübe) von 279 mm/10, sowie einer Walkpenetration nach 60 000 Hüben von 305 mm/10
nach DIN 51 804.

Die Herstellung dieser Charge erfolgte nach, der gleichen,

wie im Beispiel 2 genannten Verfahrensweise. Vom fertigen
Schmierfett wurden folgende Daten gemessen:

Die Herstellung erfolgte nach der gleichen Verfahrensweise wie in dem Beispiel 2 angegeben.
Es wurden von dem fertigen Schmierfett folgende Daten ermittelt:

Im Gegensatz zu den Beispielen 1, 3 und 4, in denen die zugegebenen
Anteile an LiOH . H2O auf Herstellung von Monolithiumborat
berechnet worden waren, wurde in diesem Beispiel der zur Entwicklung von Dilithiumborat stöchiometrische
Anteil an LiOH . H2O zugegeben.
Bei gleicher Verfahrensweise wie Beispiel 4 ergab sich für das fertige Fett ein Tropfpunkt von-255°C, eine Ruhpeneträtion
von 288 mm/10 und eine Walkpenetration von 293.mm/10.

Claims (3)
1.) Lithiumseifenschmierfett mit hohem Tropfpunkt, "bestehend
aus Schmieröl, üblichen Zusatzstoffen, sowie einer hydroxyfettsauren Lithiumseife und einer Verbindung
des Elemente Bor als konsistenzgebendes Verdickungsmittel, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß
als Verdickungsmittel die Lithiumseife eines Esteis der
12-Hydroxystearinsäure und Borsäure enthalten, sind.
2.) Schmierfett nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß im Verdickungsmittel die Methyl-, Äthyl-, Propyl-, Butyl-
oder Glycerinester der 12-Hydroxystearinsäure, vorzugsweise
der Methylester, enthalten sind.
3.) Schmierfett nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß
in demselben 5 bis 20 Gew.-%, vorzugsweise 7,5 bis 15
G-ew.-%-Lithiumseife und 0,1 bis 3 Gew.-?6, vorzugsweise
0,15 bis 1,5 Gew.-% Borsäure enthalten sind.
