Description
Diese Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren und eine Vorrichtung
zur Verwendung bei der Herstellung einer Rückfluß- oder
Neutralelektrode für ein elektrochirurgisches System in Form
eines flachen Kissens, insbesondere ein verbessertes Verfahren
und eine verbesserte Vorrichtung zur Verwendung bei der
Herstellung von Stromrückflußelektroden in einem
kontinuierlichen Rotationsverfahren.
Elektrochirurgische Systeme werden von Chirurgen eingesetzt,
um Gewebe eines Patienten zu schneiden und zu koagulieren. Ein
elektrischer Hochfrequenzstrom wird von einem Generator aus
durch das Gewebe des Patienten geleitet und fließt durch eine
isolierte Stromrückflußelektrode zum Generator zurück. Diese
nachfolgend auch als Stromrückflußkissen oder Rückflußkissen
bezeichnete Elektrode wird üblicherweise an einer vom Ort des
Eingriffs entfernten Stelle auf der Haut des Patienten
angeordnet und elektrisch mit dem Generator verbunden, um
einen Stromkreis durch den Patienten zu schließen.
Mehrere Arten von Stromrückflußkissen sind augenblicklich
erhältlich. Zum Beispiel verkauft Valleylab, Inc. in Boulder,
CO, USA eine Einweg-Patientenrückflußelektrode mit der
Modellnummer E7507. Das an Valleylab übertragene U.S.-Patent
4,699,146 beinhaltet einen hydrophilen elastomeren
druckempfindlichen Kleber, der im Produkt E7507 verwendet
wird. Das ebenfalls an Valleylab übertragene U.S.-Patent
4,750,482 beinhaltet einen Wundverband oder Brandwundenverband
mit einer Schicht, die ein vernetztes, wasserunlösliches,
elastomeres, druckempfindliches Gel enthält, welches dem im
Rückflußkissen verwendeten Gel ähnlich ist. Generisch ist das
Material ein elektrisch leitendes Hydrogel, das von Valleylab,
Boulder, CO, dem Anmelder der vorliegenden Erfindung,
hergestellt und unter der Marke Polyhesive® verkauft wird. Die
genannten Patente werden hiermit durch Bezugnahme aufgenommen
und zu einem Teil der Offenbarung dieser Anmeldung gemacht.
Aus der DE 42 38 263 A1 ist eine biomedizinische Elektrode
bekannt, zu deren Herstellung u. a. eine Unterlageschicht, eine
Elektrodenfolie, eine Schicht aus einem elektrisch leitfähigen
Haftmittel, sowie ein abziehbarer Schutzüberzug übereinander
laminiert werden.
Augenblicklich eingesetzte Herstellungsverfahren für
Rückflußkissen machen zum Anbringen einzelner Komponenten ein
Repetierverfahren erforderlich, bei welchem jedes Kissen im
Verlauf des Herstellungsvorgangs vorübergehend angehalten
werden muß. Ein Repetierverfahren verlangsamt den Durchsatz
des Herstellungsverfahrens und schließt viele Vorteile aus,
die bei einem kontinuierlichen Rotationsverfahren vorhanden
sind.
Aus der US-A-4,795,516 ist es jedoch auch bereits bekannt,
mehrschichtige, biomedizinische Elektroden mittels eines
kontinuierlichen Verfahrens herzustellen, bei dem ein
elektrisch leitendes Gel auf einem bahnförmigen Träger mit
einer vorbereiteten, bahnförmigen Unterlage zusammenlaminiert
wird. Aus dem derart gebildeten Schichtmaterial wird dann nach
dem Aufbringen einer weiteren bahnförmigen Schicht zwischen
zwei rotierenden Stanzwalzen die biomedizinische Elektrode
ausgestanzt. Beim Ausstanzen werden sämtliche Schichten mit
Ausnahme der zuletzt aufgebrachten Schicht durchtrennt und
diese letztere zusammen mit dem Stanzrest auf einer Rolle
aufgewickelt.
Eine andere Vorgehensweise bei der Rückflußkissenherstellung
besteht darin, eine Begrenzung mit dem äußeren Umfang des
Kissens zu verbinden, um u. a. sicherzustellen, dass sich das
elektrisch leitende Gel nicht bis zum Rand des Kissens
ausbreitet, wo es eine elektrische Verbindung mit einem
anderen Gegenstand, wie beispielsweise einem Bettrahmen,
herstellen könnte. Eine derartige elektrische Verbindung vom
Kissen zu einem anderen leitenden Gegenstand könnte beim
Patienten oder beim Operationspersonal zu Verbrennungen durch
den elektrischen Strom führen. Durch Ausstanzen derartiger
Begrenzungen werden jedoch große Stanzreste erzeugt, die nicht
mehr verwendbar sind.
Ausgehend hiervon liegt der Erfindung die Aufgabe zugrunde,
ein Verfahren und eine Vorrichtung der eingangs genannten Art
dahingehend zu verbessern, daß eine hohe Produktionsleistung
und ein geringer Materialverbrauch erreicht werden können.
Diese Aufgabe wird erfindungsgemäß durch die in den
Patentansprüchen 1 bzw. 8 angegebenen Merkmale gelöst.
Einer der Vorteile des hier offenbarten Herstellungsverfahrens
besteht darin, dass ein kontinuierliches Rotationsverfahren
benutzt werden kann. Die kontinuierliche Natur des Verfahrens
steigert die Effektivität des Herstellungsvorgangs. Ein
anderer Vorteil des Verfahrens besteht darin, dass eine
Handhabung der Rohmaterialien in geringerem Umfang notwendig
ist. Noch ein anderer Vorteil des Verfahrens besteht darin,
dass kein Begrenzungsteil erforderlich ist und somit weniger
Materialien verwendet werden und weniger Abfall erzeugt wird.
Eines der wichtigen Ergebnisse des Herstellungsverfahrens
besteht darin, dass mit der leitenden Gelschicht in einer
Weise umgegangen wird, welche bewirkt, dass sie sich von den
Rändern des ausgestanzten Rückflußkissens zurückzieht. Dies
verhindert einen ungewollten, elektrischen Kontakt mit
Gegenständen in der Nähe des Kissens und beseitigt auch die
Notwendigkeit eines schützenden Begrenzungsteils.
Bei Scherschneid- oder Stanzvorgängen sind normalerweise um
den Schneid- oder Stanzstempel herum Platten angeordnet, die
Abstreifer- oder Abweiserplatten genannt werden. Diese werden
gewöhnlich verwendet, um das Werkstück auf dem Werkzeug
festzuhalten. Dadurch soll verhindert werden, dass das
Material vom Stempel wegfließt, während der Stempel in das
Werkstück eindringt. Das hier beschriebene Verfahren
unterscheidet sich von normalen Schneid- oder Stanzvorgängen
mit einer Patrize, weil die Haltefunktion durch eine Druck-
oder Kompressionsfunktion ersetzt wird, die das Gel vor dem
Eindringen der Patrize verformt und extrudiert. Die
Druckbeaufschlagung oder Kompression soll eine elastische
Verformung verursachen und vermeidet vorzugsweise jegliche
plastische Verformung des Gels. Die Kompression wird erreicht,
indem man ein geeignetes Patrizen-Dichtungsmaterial verwendet,
das über die Patrize übersteht.
Die hier aufgeführte Liste von Vorteilen ist nicht
abschließend, und der erfahrene Fachmann erkennt, dass man aus
dieser Offenbarung andere Wettbewerbsvorteile erzielen kann.
Das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren zur Herstellung eines
Stromrückflußkissens für ein elektrochirurgisches System
umfasst die folgenden Schritte. Ein erster Schritt schließt
ein Ausstanzen einer elektrisch leitenden Folie auf einem
bahnförmigen Träger unter Verwendung einer rotierenden Walze
ein, um einen Folienzuschnitt zu erzeugen. Der Folienzuschnitt
kann aus zwei getrennten Folienstücken bestehen. Ein zweiter
Schritt schließt ein Abziehen der leitenden Folie um den
Zuschnitt herum und ein Zurücklassen des Zuschnitts auf dem
Träger ein. Die abgezogene Folie wird manchmal Matrix genannt
und ist ein Abfallprodukt des Herstellungsverfahrens. Ein
dritter Schritt schließt eine Beschichtung der ausgestanzten
Folie mit einem elektrisch leitenden Gel ein, um ein
bahnförmiges Schichtmaterial zu bilden. Die Beschichtung wird
vorzugsweise erreicht, indem man den Träger mit der Folie und
die auf einer bahnförmigen Unterlage aufgetragene Gelschicht
zwischen den Walzen einer Walzenpresse hindurchführt, um die
Schichten miteinander zu verbinden bzw. aufeinander zu
laminieren.
Ein vierter Schritt umfasst ein Ausschneiden des
Rückflußkissens aus dem bahnförmigen Schichtmaterial oder
Laminat unter Verwendung einer rotierenden Patrize. Die
rotierende Patrize weist Schneidkanten auf und ist angrenzend
an mindestens an einen Teil der Kanten mit einem Patrizen-
Dichtungsmaterial versehen. Es kann eine Lasche vorhanden
sein, die sich aus dem Kissen erstreckt, und in diesem Fall
braucht in der Nachbarschaft der Lasche kein Patrizen-
Dichtungsmaterial verwendet zu werden. Das Patrizen-
Dichtungsmaterial drückt das Gel vor dem Schneiden zusammen.
Vorzugsweise ist das Zusammendrücken ausreichend, um eine
elastische Verformung im Gel zu verursachen, so dass sich das
Gel zurückzieht, nachdem es durchtrennt und entlastet worden
ist. Das Zurückziehen des Gels führt dazu, dass um das Kissen
herum ein Begrenzungsrand freibleibt. Der Begrenzungsrand
trägt dazu bei, zu verhindern, dass das Gel in unerwünschter
Weise in elektrischen Kontakt mit einem Gegenstand tritt.
Die Schneidkanten, welche die Kissen ausschneiden, weisen zwei
Seiten auf: eine dem Kissenzuschnitt zugewandte Seite und eine
der Abfallmatrix zugewandte Seite. Das Verfahren zur
Herstellung des Kissens kann auch den Schritt einschließen,
das Patrizen-Dichtungsmaterial auf der dem Kissenzuschnitt
zugewandten Seite der Schneidkanten auf der Patrize
anzubringen. Die Patrize kann auch einen vorderen Rand und
einen hinteren Rand aufweisen. Das Verfahren zur Herstellung
des Kissens kann auch die Verwendung von Patrizen-
Dichtungsmaterial einschließen, das auf dem vorderen Rand der
Patrize breiter ist, als auf dem hinteren Rand der Patrize.
Ein mögliches, mit dem Ausschneiden der Kissen in Verbindung
stehendes Problem besteht darin, dass das bahnförmige
Schichtmaterial bzw. das Kissen nach dem Ausschneiden am
Schneidwerkzeug hängenbleiben können. So kann das Verfahren
den zusätzlichen Schritt eines Einblasens von Druckluft
zwischen das Werkzeug und den Zuschnitt bzw. die Matrix um
mindestens eine Kante der Patrize herum umfassen, um zu
verhindern, dass der Zuschnitt oder die Matrix am
Schneidwerkzeug hängenbleibt. Die Druckluft kann durch
Öffnungen im rotierenden Schneidwerkzeug eingeblasen werden,
und man kann Öffnungen durch das Patrizen-Dichtungsmaterial
hindurch vorsehen, um einen Zutritt der Druckluft zum
Zuschnitt zu ermöglichen.
Das Verfahren zur Herstellung der Kissen kann auch den Schritt
eines Anbringens von zwei verschiedenen Dichtungsmaterialien
auf der Patrize umfassen. Die beiden Patrizen-
Dichtungsmaterialien können einander überlagert werden. Beide
Materialien können Polyurethane sein, jedoch weist zweckmäßig
jede Lage eine andere Durometerhärte auf. Die obere Lage kann
eine geringere Durometerhärte als die untere Lage aufweisen.
Jede Lage des Patrizen-Dichtungsmaterials kann aus
geschlossenzelligem Polyurethan sein. Die Gesamtdicke des
Patrizen-Dichtungsmaterials sollte ausreichend sein, um ein
Zurückziehen des leitenden Gels zu bewirken, ohne dass eine
plastische Verformung desselben verursacht wird oder ein Teil
der leitenden Folie freiliegend zurückbleibt.
Eine Vorrichtung zur Herstellung eines Stromrückflußkissens
für ein elektrochirurgisches System kann die folgende Elemente
umfassen: eine erste Patrizen-Stanzwalze, eine Aufnahmerolle,
eine Walzenpresse und eine zweite Patrizen-Stanzwalze mit
einem Patrizen-Dichtungsmaterial um die Patrize herum. Die
erste Patrizen-Stanzwalze wird zum Ausstanzen einer elektrisch
leitenden Folie auf einem Träger verwendet. Die Aufnahmerolle
ist vorgesehen, um im Anschluss an das Ausstanzen die den
ausgestanzten Folienzuschnitt umgebende Abfallfolienmatrix vom
Träger abzuziehen. Die Walzenpresse dient dazu, die
ausgestanzten Folienzuschnitte auf dem Träger mit dem
elektrisch leitenden Gel zu beschichten, um ein bahnförmiges
Schichtmaterial zu bilden. Die zweite Patrizen-Stanzwalze
schneidet die Kissen aus dem bahnförmigen Schichtmaterial aus.
Die Vorrichtung umfasst ein Patrizen-Dichtungsmaterial, das
mindestens einen Teil der Schneidkanten der zweiten Patrizen-
Stanzwalze umgibt. Das Patrizen-Dichtungsmaterial steht in
radialer Richtung der Walze etwas über die Schneidkanten der
Patrize über, so dass es vor den Schneidkanten in Berührung
mit dem Schichtmaterial oder Laminat tritt, und weist eine
ausreichende Durometerhärte auf, um das Gel vor dem Schneiden
zusammenzudrücken und zu bewirken, dass sich das Gel nach dem
Schneiden zurückzieht.
Fig. 1 ist eine schematische Darstellung einer zur
Herstellung von elektrochirurgischen Stromrückflußkissen
entwickelten Rotationsmaschine.
Fig. 2 ist eine auseinandergezogene Ansicht eines
elektrochirurgischen Stromrückflußkissens, welche die
Schichten des Laminats zeigt.
Fig. 3 ist eine perspektivische Teilansicht einer Patrizen-
Stanzvorrichtung, welche die Anordnung des Patrizen-
Dichtungsmaterials und von Drucklufteinblasöffnungen zeigt.
Die in Fig. 2 dargestellte, flache, kissenförmige Neutral- oder
Rückflußlelektrode 15 für ein elektrochirurgisches System
besteht aus einem vier Schichten umfassenden Laminat. Die
einzelnen Schichten des Laminats umfassen einen durch Abziehen
ablösbaren Schutzüberzug 10 als oberste Schicht, gefolgt von
einer Schicht aus einem klebenden, elektrisch leitenden Gel 11,
einer elektrisch leitenden Folie 12 und einer nichtleitenden
Kissenunterlage 13. Die leitende Folie 12 ist vorzugsweise aus
Aluminium hergestellt und besteht aus zwei Teilen, die
einander benachbart auf der Kissenunterlage 13 angebracht
sind, wobei das Gel 11 die Folie 12 bedeckt.
Die bevorzugten Ausführungsformen der Vorrichtung und des
Verfahrens zur Herstellung der Rückflußelektrode 15 verwenden
eine dem Bedarf entsprechend abgewandelte Rotationsmaschine
14, wie in Fig. 1 dargestellt. In der Rotationsmaschine 14
durchlaufen verschiedene Materialien unter Bearbeitung
kontinuierlich aufeinanderfolgende Werkzeugstationen.
Rohmaterialien werden von Rollen abgewickelt, ausgestanzt und
übereinanderlaminiert, um ein bahnförmiges Schichtmaterial
oder Laminat 16 zu erzeugen, welches die verschiedenen
Schichten des Rückflußkissens 15 umfasst. Sobald das
bahnförmige Schichtmaterial oder Laminat 16 erzeugt worden
ist, wird das Kissen 15 unter Verwendung einer rotierenden
Patrizen-Stanzwalze 17 ausgestanzt oder zugeschnitten und zur
weiteren Verarbeitung auf ein Förderband 18 abgegeben. Die
Abfallmaterialien werden in Aufwickelvorrichtungen auf Rollen
22, 23, 27, 33 aufgewickelt und dem Abfall oder einer
Wiederverwendung zugeführt.
Die bevorzugte Rotationsmaschine 14 ist eine von Mark Andy,
Inc. Chesterfield, MO, USA hergestellte Maschine, Modell Mark
Andy 4120-10". Die Rotationsmaschine 14 weist mehrere
Stationen auf, in denen nebeneinander angeordnete Walzenpaare
verwendet werden, um Muster in eine durchgehende Bahn zu
schneiden, die zwischen den beiden Walzen eines Walzenpaars
hindurchgeführt wird, von denen eine mit einer oder mehreren
Patrizen versehen ist. Andere Walzen oder Rollen in der
Maschine 14 dienen als Spannrollen, Aufnahme- oder
Vorratsrollen und zum Laminieren.
Die bevorzugte Ausführungsform des Verfahrens zur Herstellung
des Rückflußkissens 15 ist in Fig. 1 teilweise dargestellt.
Ein Ausgangsmaterial in Form einer bahnförmigen mit einem
Träger verbundenen, elektrisch leitenden Folie wird von einer
Folienvorratsrolle 19 abgewickelt. Die Folie wird ausgestanzt,
während sie zwischen den beiden rotierenden Stanz-Walzen 20
und 21 hindurchtritt, wobei durch mindestens eine auf einer
Walze 20, 21 angeordnete Patrize der Folienzuschnitt 12 und
eine Abfallmatrix erzeugt werden. Die Abfallmatrix wird
anschließend vom Träger abgezogen und auf eine Folienabfall-
Aufwickelrolle 22 aufgewickelt.
Ein als Überzug auf eine Unterlage aufgebrachtes, elektrisch
leitendes Gel ist zusammen mit der Unterlage auf einer Gel-
Abwickelrolle 23 aufgewickelt. Das bevorzugte Gel ist
Polyhesive®, das von Valleylab, Boulder, CO hergestellt wird.
Das Gel und die Unterlage werden zwischen zwei Walzen 24 und
25 einer Walzenpresse auf den Träger mit den ausgestanzten
Folienzuschnitten 12 auflaminiert. Die Unterlage wird dann
mittels einer Abstreifplatte 26 vom Laminat abgezogen. Ein
Schutzüberzug wird von einer Schutzüberzug-Abwickelrolle 27
abgewickelt und zwischen zwei Walzen 28 und 29 einer weiteren
Walzenpresse auf das Laminat gepreßt.
Anschließend wird der Träger mittels einer Abstreifplatte 30
vom Laminat abgezogen und auf eine Trägerabfall-Aufwickelrolle
31 aufgewickelt. Eine Bahn aus dem Material der Unterlage 13
wird von einer Rolle 32 abgewickelt und gegen das Laminat
gepresst, um das bahnförmige Schichtmaterial 16 zu bilden, aus
dem die Kissen 15 ausgestanzt werden. Das Schichtmaterial 16
wird zwischen rotierenden Patrizen-Stanzwalzen 17
hindurchgeführt, von denen eine auf ihrer Umfangsfläche mit
mehreren Patrizen 36 versehen ist, welche die Rückflußkissen
15 aus dem Schichtmaterial 16 ausstanzen. Die Matrix, welche
die ausgestanzten Kissen 15 umgibt, wird kontinuierlich einer
Abfall-Aufwickelrolle 33 zugeführt, während die Kissen 15 auf
das Förderband 18 fallen.
Einer der wesentlichen Schritte beim erfindungsgemäßen
Herstellungsverfahren umfasst das Ausstanzen der Kissen 15 aus
dem Schichtmaterial 16 mit Hilfe der Patrizen-Stanzwalzen 17.
Deren Patrizen 36 sind mit einem Patrizen-Dichtungsmaterial 34
versehen, das auf der inneren, dem Kissen 15 zugewandten Seite
einer die Patrize 36 umgebenden Schneidkante 40 aufgebracht
ist, wie in Fig. 3 dargestellt. Der Zweck des Patrizen-
Dichtungsmaterials 34 besteht darin, das Gel 11
zusammenzudrücken, kurz bevor es beim Ausstanzen des Kissens
15 von der Schneidkante 40 durchtrennt wird. Das
Zusammendrücken bewirkt, dass sich das Gel 11 nach dem
Durchtrennen vom Rand der Kissenunterlage 13 zurückzieht, wenn
es nicht mehr zusammengedrückt wird, womit ein Begrenzungsrand
erzeugt und sichergestellt wird, dass kein leitendes Gel 11
den Rand des Kissens 15 erreicht.
Bei der bevorzugten Ausführungsform ist das Patrizen-
Dichtungsmaterial 34 ein von der Boyd Corporation, Pleasanton,
CA, USA hergestelltes Polyurethan mit Kleberücken. Die Dicke,
Breite und Durometerhärte des Patrizen-Dichtungsmaterials
müssen so eingestellt sein, dass sich das Gel um das
gewünschte Maß zurückzieht. Die bevorzugte Ausführungsform der
Vorrichtung weist zwei übereinander angeordnete Schichten
Polyurethan auf. Das Material der unteren Schicht 41 ist Boyd
4701-12-30, und diese ist 0,3175 cm (0,125 Inches) dick. Die
untere Schicht 41 wird in Dichtungsform zugeschnitten und
entlang der gesamten Schneidkante an deren Innenseite
angrenzend festgeklebt, wobei sie am vorderen Rand 37, an den
Seitenrändern 38 und an allen Radiusabschnitten eine Breite
von 0,635 cm (0,250 Inches) aufweist, und der Abschnitt 39 am
hinteren Rand eine Breite von 0,4763 cm (0,1875 Inches)
aufweist. Das Material der oberen Schicht 42 ist Boyd 4716-71,
und diese ist 0,175 cm (0,0626 Inches) dick. Die obere Schicht
42 ist am vorderen und am hinteren Rand 37 und 39 auf die
Oberseite der unteren Schicht 41 geklebt und auf eine Breite
von 2,54 cm (1,0 Inch) zugeschnitten und eng gegen die
Schneidkante 40 anliegend angebracht. Die obere Schicht 42 und
die untere Schicht 41 weisen bei der bevorzugten
Ausführungsform unterschiedliche Durometerhärten auf.
Bei der bevorzugten Ausführungsform wird das Ausmaß, um
welches sich das leitende Gel 11 vom Rand der Unterlage 13
zurückzieht, gesteuert. Ein zu starkes Zurückziehen ist
unerwünscht, weil Teile der leitenden Folie 12 freiliegend
zurückbleiben. Ein zu geringes Zurückziehen ist ebenfalls
unerwünscht, weil dadurch die Wahrscheinlichkeit vergrößert
wird, dass das Gel 11 den Rand des Kissens 15 erreichen kann.
Bei der bevorzugten Ausführungsform liegt das erwünschte
Ausmaß des Zurückziehens im Bereich von 0,0762 cm bis 0,102 cm
(0,03 Inches bis 0,04 Inches).
Der Fachmann erkennt, dass die besondere Geometrie des
Patrizen-Dichtungsmaterials 34 auch von der Höhe der Patrize
36 abhängt, d. h. von der Höhe der Schneidkante über der
Umfangsfläche der Walze 17. Bei der bevorzugten
Ausführungsform weist die Patrize eine Nennhöhe von 0,254 cm
(0,100 Inches) auf. Andere Anordnungen des Patrizen-
Dichtungsmaterials 34 sind möglich, ohne den Geist und Umfang
der vorliegenden Erfindung zu verlassen.
Die obere Schicht 42 des Patrizen-Dichtungsmaterials 34 wird
nach ungefähr eineinhalb Betriebsstunden ersetzt. Die untere
Schicht 41 des Patrizen-Dichtungsmaterials 34 wird nach
ungefähr drei Stunden ersetzt. Der Grund dafür liegt darin,
dass das Patrizen-Dichtungsmaterial 34 während des Betriebs
zusammengedrückt wird und seine Wirksamkeit verliert. Beim
Ersetzen des Patrizen-Dichtungsmaterials 34 ist es
wünschenswert, es so nahe wie möglich an der Schneidkante 40
anzubringen.
Bei der bevorzugten Ausführungsform ist auf dem
Stromrückflußkissen 15 eine Zuglasche 43 vorhanden, die dafür
sorgt, dass sich der Schutzüberzug 10 leicht ergreifen und vom
Gel 11 abziehen läßt, wie in Fig. 3 dargestellt. Im Bereich
der Zuglasche 43 ist kein Patrizen-Dichtungsmaterial 34
entlang der Schneidkante 40 angeordnet, da sich die
Kissenunterlage 13 über den Rand des leitenden Gels 11 hinaus
erstreckt und es daher nicht notwendig ist, dass sich das Gel
11 von der Lasche 43 zurückzieht. Die Lasche 43 ist bei der
Ausführungsform der Fig. 2 nicht dargestellt.
Die Dicke der leitenden Gelschicht 11 im Schichtmaterial oder
Laminat 16 muß ebenfalls gesteuert werden, um das gewünschte
Zurückziehen der Gelschicht 11 zu erreichen. Bei der
bevorzugten Ausführungsform wird die Dicke des leitenden Gels
11 so gesteuert, dass sie zwischen 0,0914 und 0,1067 cm (0,036
und 0,042 Inches) beträgt. Die Nenndicke des Ausgangsmaterials
auf der Gel-Abwickelrolle 23, welches das zwischen zwei
Schichten aus handelsüblichem Kraftpapier eingeschlossene
Polyhesive-Gel enthält, beträgt 0,132 cm (0,052 Inches).
Bei der bevorzugten Ausführungsform weist die Walze 17 im
Bereich der Patrize 36 Öffnungen 44 für Druckluft auf. Die
Druckluft wird zwischen die Walze 17 und den Kissenzuschnitt
15 eingeblasen und trägt dazu bei, diesen vom Werkzeug zu
lösen.
Das hier beschriebene, kontinuierliche Rotationsverfahren ist
bei der Herstellung eines elektrochirurgischen Rückflußkissens
15 anwendbar. Viele elektrochirurgische Rückflußkissen sind
mit daran angebrachten, elektrischen Kabeln versehen. Diese
Offenbarung betrifft nicht das Verfahren zum Anbringen von
elektrischen Kabeln.
Claims (12)
1. Verfahren zur Verwendung bei der Herstellung einer
Stromrückflußelektrode (15) für ein elektrochirurgisches
System, umfassend die Schritte:
Ausstanzen einer elektrisch leitenden Folie auf einem Träger unter Verwendung von rotierenden Walzen (20, 21) zum Erzeugen eines Folienzuschnitts (12);
Abziehen der leitenden Folie um den Zuschnitt (12) herum und Zurücklassen des Zuschnitts (12) auf dem Träger;
Beschichten des ausgestanzten Folienzuschnitts (12) auf dem Träger mit einem elektrisch leitenden Gel (11), um ein bahnförmiges Schichtmaterial zu bilden, und
Ausschneiden der Rückflußelektrode (15) aus dem Schichtmaterial (16) unter Verwendung einer rotierenden Patrize (36) mit Schneidkanten (35) und einem an mindestens einen Teil der Schneidkanten (35) angrenzenden Patrizen-Dichtungsmaterial (34), um das Gel (11) vor dem Durchtrennen ausreichend stark zusammenzudrücken, um zu bewirken, dass sich das Gel (11) nach dem Durchtrennen zurückzieht.
Ausstanzen einer elektrisch leitenden Folie auf einem Träger unter Verwendung von rotierenden Walzen (20, 21) zum Erzeugen eines Folienzuschnitts (12);
Abziehen der leitenden Folie um den Zuschnitt (12) herum und Zurücklassen des Zuschnitts (12) auf dem Träger;
Beschichten des ausgestanzten Folienzuschnitts (12) auf dem Träger mit einem elektrisch leitenden Gel (11), um ein bahnförmiges Schichtmaterial zu bilden, und
Ausschneiden der Rückflußelektrode (15) aus dem Schichtmaterial (16) unter Verwendung einer rotierenden Patrize (36) mit Schneidkanten (35) und einem an mindestens einen Teil der Schneidkanten (35) angrenzenden Patrizen-Dichtungsmaterial (34), um das Gel (11) vor dem Durchtrennen ausreichend stark zusammenzudrücken, um zu bewirken, dass sich das Gel (11) nach dem Durchtrennen zurückzieht.
2. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass
die Patrize (36) einen vorderen Rand (37) und einen hinteren
Rand (39) aufweist, und dass ein zusätzlicher Schritt darin
besteht, das Patrizen-Dichtungsmaterial (34) derart
anzubringen, dass das Material auf dem vorderen Rand (37) der
Patrize (36) breiter ist, als auf dem hinteren Rand (39) der
Patrize (36).
3. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass
das Patrizen-Dichtungsmaterial (34) aus zwei Schichten mit
unterschiedlichen Durometerhärten besteht.
4. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass
das Patrizen-Dichtungsmaterial (34) eine ausreichende Dicke
aufweist, um ein Zurückziehen des leitenden Gels (11) zu
bewirken, jedoch kein Zurückziehen über den Folienzuschnitt
(12) hinaus bewirkt.
5. Verfahren nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 4, dadurch
gekennzeichnet, dass das elektrisch leitende Gel (11) beim
Aufbringen auf den ausgestanzten Folienzuschnitt (12) von einer
Unterlage getragen wird und mit dieser, dem Folienzuschnitt
(12) und dem Träger eine Schichtstruktur bildet.
6. Verfahren nach Anspruch 5, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass
die Schichtstruktur zwischen einem Paar benachbarter Walzen (28
und 29) zusammenlaminiert wird, um die Schichten als Laminat
miteinander zu verkleben.
7. Verfahren nach Anspruch 6, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass es
weiter die Schritte umfasst:
Entfernen der Unterlage vom elektrisch leitenden Gel (11) des Laminats;
Ersetzen der Unterlage durch einen Schutzüberzug (10) über dem elektrisch leitenden Gel (11);
Entfernen des Trägers unter dem Folienzuschnitt (12);
Ersetzen des entfernten Trägers durch einen Film (13), der über dem Folienzuschnitt (12) und dem darauf und darum herum angeordneten, elektrisch leitenden Gel (11) aufgebracht wird.
Entfernen der Unterlage vom elektrisch leitenden Gel (11) des Laminats;
Ersetzen der Unterlage durch einen Schutzüberzug (10) über dem elektrisch leitenden Gel (11);
Entfernen des Trägers unter dem Folienzuschnitt (12);
Ersetzen des entfernten Trägers durch einen Film (13), der über dem Folienzuschnitt (12) und dem darauf und darum herum angeordneten, elektrisch leitenden Gel (11) aufgebracht wird.
8. Vorrichtung zur Verwendung bei der Herstellung einer
Stromrückflußelektrode (15) für ein elektrochirurgisches
System, umfassend:
Patrizen-Stanzwalzen (20 und 21) zum Ausstanzen eines elektrisch leitenden Folienzuschnitts (12) auf einem Träger;
eine Walzenpresse zum Beschichten des ausgestanzten Folienzuschnitts (12) mit einem elektrisch leitenden Gel (11), um ein bahnförmiges Schichtmaterial (16) zu bilden;
eine Patrizen-Stanzwalze (36) mit Schneidkanten (35) zum Ausstanzen des Schichtmaterials (16), und
ein um mindestens einen Teil der Schneidkanten (35) herum angeordnetes Patrizen-Dichtungsmaterial (34), das ausreichend ist, um das Gel (11) vor dem Schneiden zusammenzudrücken und zu bewirken, dass sich das Gel (11) nach dem Schneiden zurückzieht.
Patrizen-Stanzwalzen (20 und 21) zum Ausstanzen eines elektrisch leitenden Folienzuschnitts (12) auf einem Träger;
eine Walzenpresse zum Beschichten des ausgestanzten Folienzuschnitts (12) mit einem elektrisch leitenden Gel (11), um ein bahnförmiges Schichtmaterial (16) zu bilden;
eine Patrizen-Stanzwalze (36) mit Schneidkanten (35) zum Ausstanzen des Schichtmaterials (16), und
ein um mindestens einen Teil der Schneidkanten (35) herum angeordnetes Patrizen-Dichtungsmaterial (34), das ausreichend ist, um das Gel (11) vor dem Schneiden zusammenzudrücken und zu bewirken, dass sich das Gel (11) nach dem Schneiden zurückzieht.
9. Vorrichtung nach Anspruch 8, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass
die Schneidkanten (35) auf der Patrizen-Stanzwalze (36) eine
Innenseite und eine Außenseite aufweisen, und dass das
Dichtungsmaterial (34) um die Innenseite der Patrize (36) herum
angeordnet ist.
10. Vorrichtung nach Anspruch 9, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass
die Patrize (36) einen vorderen Rand (37) und einen hinteren
Rand (39) aufweist, und dass das Dichtungsmaterial (34) auf dem
vorderen Rand (37) der Patrize (36) breiter ist, als auf dem
hinteren Rand (39) der Patrize (36).
11. Vorrichtung nach einem der Ansprüche 8 bis 10, dadurch
gekennzeichnet, dass das Dichtungsmaterial (34) aus zwei
Schichten mit unterschiedlichen Durometerhärten besteht.
12. Vorrichtung nach einem der Ansprüche 8 bis 11, dadurch
gekennzeichnet, dass das Dichtungsmaterial (34) eine
ausreichende Dicke aufweist, um ein Zurückziehen des leitenden
Gels (11) zu bewirken, jedoch kein Zurückziehen über den
Folienzuschnitt (12) hinaus bewirkt.
