KAISERLICHES
PATENTAMT.
Die an sich bekannten keimtötenden Stoffe, wie Formalin, Karbolsäure, gewisse organische
Säuren, wie Ameisensäure, Milchsäure, Essigsäure und ähnliche, sind in ihrer Wirkung,
wenn sie verdampft oder zerstäubt werden, unzuverlässig und unberechenbar. Es gilt dies
zum:il bei Anwendung der Desinfektionsstoffe zum Desinfizieren des inneren rnenschlischen
Organismus, Besonders der Verwendung des Formaldehyds stehen bei innerer Desinfektion
schwerwiegende Bedenken entgegen; es treten stets sehr intensive Beizwirkungen und infolgedessen
zelluläre Vergiftungserscheinungen auf. Die regelmäßige Folge davon ist, daß unter
dem Einflüsse dieser zellulären Formalinvergiftungen,
die man als eine Zellstarre bezeichnen kann, die Bakterien anfangen, sich
zu vermehren statt zu vermindern. Es hängt dies damit zusammen, daß unter dem Einflüsse
der reinen Formalindämpfe eine Vernichtung der der Zelle innewohnenden natürlichen Abwehrkräfte
des Organismus gegen Infektionen eintritt, be\'or es zur Sterilisierung kommt.
Ganz analog wirken auch die organischen Säuren an sich, wie Ameisensäure, Hippursäure,
Zitronensäure in fein verteilter Form. Auch hier stellt sich ebenfalls eine Zellvergiftung
mit den angeführten Wirkungen ein, die sich von jener nur dadurch unterscheidet, daß sie
sich nicht in einem Starrwerden der Zellen äußert. Es ist deshalb die Verwendung des
Formaldehyds sowohl wie auch der organischen Säuren für Desinfektionszwecke bisher
eine beschränkte geblieben, und für die Desinfektion des inneren Organismus, zumal des
Atmungstraktus, wohl versucht, aber wegen der. Notwendigkeit der Anwendung starker
Dosen — etwa 5 prozentiger Lösungen — zur Erreichung einer positiven W'irkung aufgegeben
worden.
Das vorliegende Verfahren bezweckt nun die Herstellung eines Desinfektionsmittels, bei
dessen Anwendung die giftigen Nebenwirkungen ausgeschaltet werden. Es wird dies dadurch
erreicht, daß man dem Hauptbestandteil, dem Formaldehyd, Stoffe zusetzt, welche in
der gesunden Zelle als natürliche Schutzkräfte gegen den Angriff von Bakterien vorhanden
sind.
Zu dem Zwecke werden geringe Mengen Zellkernsäuren, die man zweckmäßig in alkoholischer
oder auch chloroform-alkoholischer Lösung verwendet, für sich oder gepaart mit
anderen organischen Säuren, z. B. mit Ameisensäure, dem Formaldehyd und ähnlich wirkenden
anderen Aldehyden zugesetzt.
Bei Verbindung von Formaldehyd in geeigneten Verhältnissen mit Zellkernsäuren, z. B.
schon bei Anwendung ganz schwacher, etwa 0,1 bis 0,5 prozentiger Formaldehydlösungen,
die etwa zu dem zehnten Teil mit den genannten organischen Säuren versetzt sind, wird
eine eigenartige überraschend starke Desinfektionswirkung hervorgerufen.

Als gute Mischungsverhältnisse haben sich z. B. folgende ergeben:
gelöst in ioo Teilen rektifiziertem Spiritus mit einem eventuellen
Zusatz von ι Teil ätherischem Öl und ι Teil Chloroform,
oder
gelöst in 50 Teilen absolutem Alkohol, 10 bis 20 Teilen Chloroform
und mit ätherischem Öl auf 100 aufgefüllt.

Der mit Zellkernsäuren in alkoholischer Lösung versetzte Formaldehyd wirkt bei Temperaturen,
welche der Normaltemperatur des Menschen nahe liegen, stärker desinfizierend als Formaldehyd, ohne Äußerung irgend weleher
Zellschädigungen und Vergiftungen und eignet sich daher insbesondere zur Desinfektion
des Atmungstraktus des Menschen, welche durch Inhalationen erfolgt.
