diesen Ketalester der allgemeinen Formel II dann hn:

besitzen, bei einer Temperatur zwischen 0 und 150°C, gegebenenfalls in Gegenwart eines inerten
Lösungsmittels, umsetzt und das erhaltene Amid bei einer Temperatur zwischen 50 und 1200C im schwach
sauren wäßrigen Mittel hydrolysiert.
In der obengenannten allgemeinen Formel I sind R1 und R2 vorzugsweise je ein Wasserstoffatom oder
eine Methyl- oder Äthylgruppe.
Beim Ester der allgemeinen Formel II bedeutet jeder Substituent X vorzugsweise ein Wasserstoffatom
oder eine Methylgruppe und Y eine Alkylgruppe mit bis 4 Kohlenstoffatomen, ζ. B. eine Äthylgruppe.
Zur Herstellung des Esters der allgemeinen Formel II können vorteilhaft Äthylenglykol und Propylenglykol
verwendet werden, wobei Äthylenglykol

bevorzugt wird. Das eingesetzte Glykol läßt sich dabei in vorteilhafter Weise bei der Hydrolyse wiedergewinnen
und ist dann zur Herstellung eines neuen Ansatzes des Esters II verfügbar.
Die Umsetzung zwischen dem Ester der allgemeinen Formel III bzw. V und dem Glykol der allgemeinen
Formel IV wird, wie es für die Kondensation eines Glykols mit einer Verbindung, die eine
Carbonylgruppe enthält, allgemein bekannt ist, im sauren Mittel, z. B. in Gegenwart von Toluolp-sulfonsäure,
in Toluol oder Benzol durchgeführt. Geeignete Chlorierungsmittel für die durch Umsetzung
von^einem Glykol der allgemeinen Formel IV mit einem Alkyl-3-oxobuttersäureester der allgemeinen
Formel III erhaltenen Verbindungen sind Chlor, Sulfurylchlorid, N-Chlorharnstoff, Unterchlorigesäure
und tert.Butylhypochlorit. Vorzugsweise wird Sulfurylchlorid verwendet. Die Chlorierung
wird günstigerweise bei einer Temperatur unterhalb 300C, vorzugsweise unterhalb IO°C,
durchgeführt.
Die Umsetzung zwischen dem Ketalester II und dem Amin VI wird vorzugsweise bei Raumtemperatur
durchgeführt, wobei die Wahl des gegebenenfalls verwendeten inerten Mittels vom verwendeten Amin abhängt.
Verwendet man als Amin Ammoniak, so eignet sich z. B. Wasser, verwendet man als Amin
Methylamin, so ist Äthanol geeignet.
Die Hydrolyse des Amids, das bei der Umsetzung des Ketalesters II mit dem Amin VI gebildet wurde,
muß unter Bedingungen durchgeführt werden, welche die Abspaltung der am Kohlenstoffatom 3 befindlichen
sauerstoffhaltigen Gruppe begünstigen, aber keine wesentliche Hydrolyse der Amidgruppe verursachen.
Das wird durch Arbeiten in einem schwach sauren Mittel geringer Konzentration erreicht. Als
Säure kann man eine anorganische oder organische Säure verwenden. Vorzugsweise wird dabei eine
Mineralsäure, wie Salz- oder Schwefelsäure, verwendet. Die Geschwindigkeit der Hydrolyse hängt hauptsächlich
von der Reaktionstemperatur ab. Im allgemeinen erhält man die besten Ergebnisse, wenn man
das Hydrolysegemisch langsam oder am Rückfluß siedet, wobei die Reaktionstemperaturen auf etwa
1000C ansteigen.
Das Verfahren der Erfindung ist besonders geeignet für die Herstellung von N-Methyl-2-chlor-3-oxobuttersäureamid
(F. = 80 bis 810C).
Die 2-Chlor-3-oxobuttersäureamide sind von besonderer Bedeutung bei der Herstellung insektizider
Organophosphorverbindungen der allgemeinen Formel

Hierin und in den nachfolgenden Formeln bedeutet der Substituent R eine Alkylgruupe, und R1 und R2
sind je ein Wasserstoffatom oder eine Alkylgruppe. Typische Insektizide obiger allgemeiner Formel sind:
3 - (Dimethoxyphosphinyloxy) - N - methylcrotonamid, 3 - (Dimethoxyphosphinyloxy) - N,N - dimethylcrotonamid
und 3-(Diäthoxyphosphinyloxy)-N-äthylcrotonamid.
Verbindungen dieser allgemeinen Formel kann man durch Umsetzung eines Trialkylphosphits der allgemit
einem Amid der bereits erwähnten allgemeinen Formel I herstellen.
Das als Ausgangssubstanz für diese Phosphorverbindungen dienende Amid I ist jedoch schwer zu
synthetisieren, besonders, wenn — NHR1 oder — NH2-Gruppen anwesend sind.
Es ist bereits bekannt, 2-Chlor-3-oxobuttersäureamide
durch Reaktion der entsprechenden 3-Oxobuttersäure mit Sulfurylchlorid herzustellen. Bei
,5 dieser Umsetzung erhält man jedoch stets bedeutende
Mengen an 2,2-Dichlor-3-oxobuttersäureamid als Nebenprodukt. Wird nun dieses dichloramidhaltige
Rohprodukt zur Herstellung der vorstehend genannten insektizid wirkenden Phosphorverbindung
verwendet, so ist dieses Insektizid stets mit einer wesentlichen Menge an Monochloralkylenestern der
Formel

verunreinigt, was wegen der im allgemeinen höheren Giftigkeit dieser Verbindungen für Säugetiere unerwünscht
ist. Da sich die Mono- und Dichloramide jedoch bezüglich ihres Siedepunktes und der übrigen
physikalischen Eigenschaften nahezu nicht unterscheiden, ist eine Abtrennung des 2-Chlor-3-oxobuttersäureamids
aus dem 2,2-Dichlor-3-oxobuttersäureamidhaltigen Rohprodukt ziemlich schwierig.
Das Verfahren der Erfindung ermöglicht nun im Gegensatz zu den bekannten Verfahren die Herstellung
chemisch reiner 2-Chlor-3-oxobuttersäureamide.
Wesentlich bei dem Verfahren der Erfindung ist die Tatsache, daß man zur Herstellung von 2-Chlor-3-oxobuttersäureamiden
ein Ketal eines Alkylesters der 2-Chlor-3-oxobuttersäure mit einem Amin umsetzt.
Es ist äußerst überraschend, daß bei dieser Umsetzung das gewünschte Amid gebildet wird, denn in
Houben — Weyl, Methoden der organischen Chemie, Bd. VIII, Sauerstoffverbindungen III, 1952,
S. 658/659, wird ausschließlich festgestellt, daß die Reaktionsfähigkeit eines Carbonsäureesters mit Basen
weitgehend von der Konstitution des Carbonsäureesters abhängig ist. Aus einem Aufsatz von C. A.
B u c h 1 e r und Charles A. Mackenzie in Journal American Chemical Society, Bd. 59, 1937,
S. 421/422, geht ferner hervor, daß gerade a-Monochlorcarbonsäureester
mit Aminen im allgemeinen keine Amide bilden. Demgegenüber zeigte sich nun, daß im Gegensatz zu den 2-Chlor-3-oxobuttersäureestern
die Ketale dieser Verbindungen mit Aminen glatt zu Amiden führen.
Die Erfindung wird durch das folgende Beispiel erläutert. Gewichtsteile (w) und Volumteile (ν) stehen
zueinander in gleicher Beziehung wie Kilogramm und Liter.

2-Chlor-3-oxobuttersäureäthylester (16,5 Gewichtsteile), Äthylenglykol (6,5 Volumteile), Toluol-p-sulfonsäure
(0,055 Gewichtsteile) und Toluol (20 Volumteile) wurden in einem Wasserabscheider nach
Dean — Stark zum Sieden erhitzt, bis sich kein Wasser mehr abschied. Das Gemisch wurde mit einer
wäßrigen Lösung von Natriumbicarbonat gewaschen, über Magnesiumsulfat getrocknet und bei Unterdruck
fraktioniert destilliert. Das erhaltene Reaktionsprodukt (16 Gewichtsteile) war ein farbloses
öl; Kp.8 = 121 bis 1230C, nf =- 1,4518.

Herstellung von Äthyl-2-chlor-2-(2-methyl-1,3-dioxolan-2-yl)-acetat

Äthyl-2-(2-methyl-1,3-dioxolan-2-yl)-acetat wurde hergestellt durch Umsetzung von Acetessigsäureäthylester
mit Äthylenglykol nach dem Verfahren von S a 1 m i (Berichte der Deutschen Chemischen Gesellschaft,
1938, Bd. 71, S. 1803).
Äthyl - 2 - (2 - methyl -1,3 - dioxolan - 2 - yl) - acetat
(34,8 Gewichtsteile) wurde mit Eis gekühlt und tropfenweise Sulfurylchlorid (16,5 Gewichtsteile) zugegeben,
wobei die Temperatur unterhalb 10' C gehalten wurde. Das Kühlen wurde beendet und nach
einer halben Stunde die Mischung destilliert. Man erhielt ein Produkt (25 Gewichtsteile) vom Kp.8
= 120 C, n'D s = 1,4517. Das Infrarotspektrum war
identisch mit dem des Produktes, das aus Äthylenglykol und 2-Chlor-3-oxobuttersäureäthylester nach
Vorstufe a gewonnen worden war.
55 1. Stufe
Herstellung von N-Methyl-2-chlor-2-(2-methyl-1,3-dioxolan-2-yl)-acetamid

sung von 33 Gewichtsteilen Methylamin in 67 Gewichtsteilen Äthanol wurden bei Raumtemperatur
gemischt. Nach 88 Stunden wurde das Gemisch bei Unterdruck und Zimmertemperatur eingedampft. Der
Rest wurde mit wenig Wasser aufgelöst, durch Zugabe von Salzsäure schwach angesäuert, mit Natriumchlorid
gesättigt und zweimal mit Äthylacetat extrahiert. Der Extrakt wurde konzentriert, mit Äther versetzt,
und die Lösung wurde abgekühlt. Das Reaktionsprodukt, ein weißer kristalliner Stoff (3,0 Gewichtsteile),
wurde abgetrennt. Es hatte einen Schmelzpunkt von 76 bis 77°C.

2. Stufe
Die Hydrolyse der l,3-Dioxolan-2-yl-gruppe
Die Hydrolyse der l,3-Dioxolan-2-yl-gruppe
N-Methyl-2-chlor-2-(2-methyl-l,3-dioxolan-2-yl)-acetamid (0,5 Gewichtsteile) wurde durch Erwärmen
mit l,25normaler Salzsäure (0,5 Volumteile) aufgelöst. Das Gemisch wurde mit Natriumchlorid gesättigt
und 15 Minuten zu langsamem Sieden erhitzt. Die Lösung wurde abgekühlt, genügend Wasser zugegeben,
um kleine Mengen ausgeschiedenes Natriumchlorid aufzulösen, und dreimal mit Äther extrahiert.
Nach Abdampfen des Äthers blieb eine kristalline Substanz (0,39 Gewichtsteile), F. = 67 bis
75°C. Das Produkt wurde durch Umkristallisieren aus Äther oder Tetrachlorkohlenstoff gereinigt und
ergab dann weiße flache Nadeln, F. = 80 bis 81 C.

Claims (1)
- Patentanspruch:Verfahren zur Herstellung von 2-Chlor-3-oxobuttersäureamiden der allgemeinen Formel IÄthyl-2-chlor-2-(2-methyl-1,3-dioxolan-2-yl)-acetat (4,17 Gewichtsteile) und 5,4 Gewichtsteile einer LöCH3 — CO — CH — CO — NI
Clin der R1 und R2 ein Wasserstoffatom oder eine Alkylgruppe mit 1 bis 10 Kohlenstoffatomen bedeuten, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man einen Ketalester der allgemeinen Formel II65 XCH- HCXO OCH3 —-C-— CH — COOYClin der X ein Wasserstoffatom oder eine Alkylgruppe mit 1 bis 10 Kohlenstoffatomen und Y eine Alkylgruppe mit 1 bis 10 Kohlenstoffatomen bedeutet, entweder durch Umsetzen eines Esters der allgemeinen Formel IIIIlCH3-C- CH2 — COOY IIIin der Y die vorstehend angegebene Bedeutungbesitzt, mit einem Glykol der allgemeinen Formel IVγ~*ο ου νOH OHin der X die vorstehend angegebene Bedeutung hat, im sauren Mittel und unter anschließender Chlorierung oder durch Umsetzen eines Esters der allgemeinen Formel VIlCH3 — C — CH — COOYClmit einem Glykol der allgemeinen Formel IV im sauren Mittel in an sich bekannter Weise herstellt, diesen Ketalester der allgemeinen Formel II dann mit einem Amin der allgemeinen Formel VIHN:in der R1 und R2 die vorstehend angegebene Bedeutung besitzen, bei einer Temperatur zwischen O und 1500C, gegebenenfalls in Gegenwart eines inerten Lösungsmittels, umsetzt und das erhaltene Amid bei einer Temperatur zwischen 50 und ίο 1200C im schwach sauren wäßrigen Mittel hydrolysiert.In Betracht gezogene Druckschriften:
