Description
Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Herstellung des Bis-Cchlormethyü-carbarriidsäurechlorides
der Formel
(Cl- CH2)2N—COCl
Es wurde gefunden, daß man in einfacher Weise Bis-(cMormethyl)-carbamidsäureehlorid erhält, wenn
man Hexamethylentetramin bei höheren Temperaturen mit Phosgen oder phosgenabspaltenden Verbindungen
umsetzt und dabei gegebenenfalls in Gegenwart inerter organischer Lösungsmittel arbeitet.
Der Reaktionsverlauf des erfindungsgemäßen Verfahrens ist überraschend. Es konnte nicht vorausgesehen
werden, daß sich Phosgen mit Hexamethylentetramin unter Ringaufspaltung zu Bis-(chlormethyl)-carbamidsäurechlorid
umsetzt.
An Stelle von Phosgen lassen sich auch solche Verbindungen einsetzen, die bei erhöhten Temperaturen
etwa zwischen 120 und 2500C Phosgen abspalten
und darüber hinaus nur solche Spaltprodukte bilden, welche mit dem Hexamethylentetramin nicht
reagieren.
Beispiele für solche Verbindungen sind Oxalylchlorid und Chlorameisensäuretrichlormethylester.
Als Lösungsmittel kommen für das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren alle inerten organischen Lösungsmittel
in Frage, welche in üblicher Weise für Phosgenierungen
verwendet werden. Hierzu gehören insbesondere die aliphatischen und aromatischen Kohlenwasserstoffe
sowie deren Chlorierungsprodukte. Als Beispiele seien genannt: Toluol, Chlorbenzol, Chlornaphthalin
und Chloroform.
Die erfindungsgemäße Umsetzung wird bei Temperaturen zwischen 120 und 25O0C, vorzugsweise
150 und 2300C, durchgeführt. Arbeitet man bei
wesentlich höheren Temperaturen oder auch bei Raumtemperatur, so erhält man Undefinierte Gemische
verschiedener Carbamidsäurechloride.
Führt man die Umsetzung in Abwesenheit eines Lösungsmittels durch, so arbeitet man stets bei erhöhtem
Druck. Verwendet man ein Lösungsmittel, so kann man ohne Druck oder auch im geschlossenen
Gefäß arbeiten. Ganz allgemein kommen Drücke von 1 bis 250 Atmosphären, vorzugsweise 50 bis
200 Atmosphären, in Frage. Bei der Durchführung des erfindungsgemäßen Verfahrens setzt man auf
1 Mol Hexamethylentetramin mindestens 4 Mol Phosgen bzw. phosgenabspaltende Verbindung ein.
Ein gewisser molarer Überschuß an Phosgen ist durchaus zweckmäßig. Auch ein großer Überschuß
sohadet nichts. Vorzugsweise werden 8 bis 12 Mol Phosgen auf 1 Mol Hexamethylentetramin verwendet.

Das Phosgen kann aber auch im beliebigen Überschuß durch das Reaktionsgemisch hindurchgeleitet
werden.
Die Umsetzung kann z. B. in der Weise durchgeführt werden, daß man die Reaktionskomponenten
in einen Autoklav gibt und diesen unter Rühren auf die entsprechende Temperatur erhitzt, wobei sich
automatisch ein entsprechender Druck einstellt. In diesem Fall kann man in Gegenwart oder Abwesenheit
eines Lösungsmittels arbeiten.
Nach einer besonderen Ausführungsform des erfindungsgemäßen Verfahrens setzt man Hexamethylentetramin mit Phosgen in Gegenwart eines Lösungsmittels bei Temperaturen zwischen etwa 20 und 100° C um. Bei dieser Vorreaktion wird noch nicht das Bis-(chlormethyl)-carbamidsäurechlorid gebildet, sondern ein polymeres Carbaminsäurechlorid. Man dampft dann das Lösungsmittel ab und setzt das Reaktionsprodukt bei den höheren erfindungsgemäßen Temperaturen um. Dabei entsteht das Bis-(chlormethyl)-carbamidsäurechlorid.
Nach einer besonderen Ausführungsform des erfindungsgemäßen Verfahrens setzt man Hexamethylentetramin mit Phosgen in Gegenwart eines Lösungsmittels bei Temperaturen zwischen etwa 20 und 100° C um. Bei dieser Vorreaktion wird noch nicht das Bis-(chlormethyl)-carbamidsäurechlorid gebildet, sondern ein polymeres Carbaminsäurechlorid. Man dampft dann das Lösungsmittel ab und setzt das Reaktionsprodukt bei den höheren erfindungsgemäßen Temperaturen um. Dabei entsteht das Bis-(chlormethyl)-carbamidsäurechlorid.
Die Aufarbeitung wird nach an sich bekannten Verfahren durchgeführt. Vorzugsweise unterwirft
man das Reaktionsgemisch einer fraktionierten Destillation.
Das Bis-(chlormethyl)-carbamidsäurechlorid stellt
ein wertvolles Zwischenprodukt für die Herstellung von Schädlingsbekämpfungsmitteln, Farbstoffen und
Kunststoffen dar.
140 Gewichtsteile Hexamethylentetramin werden in einen gekühlten Autoklav mit einem Rauminhalt
von 1300 Volumteilen gegeben, in welchem sich be-

reits 1000 Gewichtsteile verflüssigtes Phosgen befinden. Anschließend wird unter gutem Rühren 5 Stunden
auf 2000C geheizt, wobei sich ein Druck von
110 atü einstellt. Anschließend wird das überschüssige Phosgen abgeblasen und das flüssige, dunkel-
braune Reaktionsprodukt im Vakuum destilliert. Ohne Vorlauf destilliert das Bis-(Chlormethyl)-carbamidsäurechlorid
über Kp.ig 95 bis 97° C. Ausbeute:
246 Teile.
Der Rückstand besteht aus 150 Teilen eines polymeren Carbamidsäurechlorides.

In 2000 Volumteilen Chloroform werden 400 Gewichtsteile Hexamethylentetramin in der Wärme gelöst.
Anschließend wird Phosgen eingeleitet. Es findet eine lebhafte Reaktion statt, die das Chloroform zum
Sieden bringt. Zunächst fällt eine weiße, viskose Masse aus, die nach einiger Zeit wieder in Lösung
geht. Nach 6stündigem Einleiten von Phosgen ist alles ohne Rückstand gelöst. Nach dieser Vorreaktion
wird das Chloroform abdestilliert und das zähflüssige Reaktionsprodukt bei 150 bis 16O0C weiterphosgeniert.
Nach dem Ausblasen des Reaktionsproduktes mit Stickstoff zur Entfernung des überschüssigen Phosgens
wird im Vakuum destilliert unddasBis-(chlormethyl)-carbamidsäurechlorid
in einer Ausbeute von 410 Gewichtsteilen erhalten.
Claims (2)
1. Verfahren zur Herstellung von Bis-(chlormethyl)-carbamidsäurechlorid,
dadurch gekenn zeichnet, daß man Hexamethylentetramin bei höherer Temperatur mit Phosgen oder phosgenabspaltenden
Mitteln umsetzt und dabei gegebenenfalls in Gegenwart eines Lösungsmittels arbeitet.
2. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man zunächst bei leicht erhöhter
Temperatur Hexamethylentetramin in Gegenwart eines Lösungsmittels mit Phosgen oder
phosgenabspaltenden Mitteln umsetzt, anschließend das Lösungsmittel abdestilliert und das
Reaktionsprodukt bei stärker erhöhten Temperaturen nochmals mit Phosgen oder phosgenabspaltenden
Mitteln umsetzt.
