Abstract

在一具有一PLMN及一WLAN IP GW的系统中,一PLMN及WIP-GW间的交接是由一Iur界面提供。移动网际协议(Mobile IP)提供PLMN(用户客服)与WLAN间的通话管理及数据信道。WIP-GW是作为指向PLMN的外部客服。借由PLMN MIP通过DIAMETER而提供的用于注册、认证及用户管理的服务,是作用于PLMN中的HLR/HSS及CGF。使用一支持松散互作通信定义表的单一架构,而在该架构减去Iur界面及MIP后会成为一松散互作架构。UMTS PLMN计费平台是经由DIAMETER/UMTS互作而形成,而认证是由UMTS PLMN HSS/HLR所提供。此架构的概念可扩张至涵盖其它有关UMTS存取技术的互作。

Description

无线局域网络及通用移动电信系统间紧密互作的系统及方法
技术领域
本发明是关于通用移动电信系统(UMTS),更特别地是,本发明是关于无线局域网络(WLAN)及通用移动电信系统(UMTS)间的紧密互作系统。
背景技术
存在着一个需求,即能提供无线局域网络(WLAN)及通用移动电信系统(UMTS)间紧密互作的系统架构,其并具有能支持下述的架构:
于两系统间的交接;
当终端在两系统间交接时,通话管理及连接;以及
在两系统间松散互相作用国际漫游通信定义表。
发明内容
WLAN及UMTS技术是有效地相结合,以相互作用及支持一紧密互作通信定义表。UMTS的Iur界面被用于无损失的交接,移动网际协议(IP)则被利用于通话管理及连接,而DIAMETER通讯协议信号则被用于认证及会计。

图1及图2为将本发明的原则具体化的WLAN及UMTS网络系统架构图。
具体实施方式
图1显示一系统架构10,其包括一公共区域移动网络(PLMN)12,而该公共区域移动网络12包含一用户位置登记/用户订购服务器(HLR/HSS)14、一认证授权及会计用户设备(AAAH)16、一计费通讯网关功能(CGF)18、一用户客服20,以及一整合封包式无线服务支持节点(GGSN)22。
一无线局域网络网际协议通讯网关(WLAN IP GW),也就是WIP-GW 30,在结合防火墙后,可利用两个AP建立起信号及数据的界面;例如AP 32和34。使用者设备(UE)36以双模态WLAN/UMTS UE较好。
系统中的数据处理程序如下:
在PLMN 12的WIP-GW 30及用户客服20之间具有一移动网际协议(MIP)界面。WIP-GW 30是结合移动网际协议外部客服的功能与数种无线网络控制(RNC)的功能,WIP-GW 30对于PLMN 12来说像是一外部客服、但对于AP来说则像是一无线局域网络控制器(RNC),输入的数据是传送于PLMN(用户客服)和WLAN(WIP-GW)30间的信道,正如输入数据线38所表示,输出的数据则直接从WIP-GW30流向网际网络40,如输出网际协议数据线42所表示。
PLMN 12借由使用其HSS/HLR 14以提供认证与订购管理的服务。DIAMETER是一种网际协议网络中处理授权、认证及会计功能的网际主协议(IP domainprotocol),在本结构中DIAMETER的使用使得以网际协议IP为基础的认证、授权及会计(AAA)程序能够在WIP-GW和PLMN之间正常运作。由于PLMN原本即为一种UMTS网络,所以在PLMN提供认证与授权程序的节点是HSS/HLR,而提供会计功能的PLMN节点是计费通讯网关功能(CGF)。HSS/HLR和CGF提供UMTS程序及信号发送以帮助这些功能运作。AAAH提供以网际协议为基础的AAA程序和与其相对应的UMTS程序间的信号发送互作,使得输入或输出于HSS/HLR和CGF的AAA功能也能在无线局域网络系统中运作,同样地,MI P提供网际协议网络中的移动管理程序。在一个UMTS网络中,封包转换数据服务的移动管理程序是由GGSN所处理。本结构中的用户客服针对GGSN提供介于MIP程序(于WIP-GW和用户客服间运作)以及UMTS移动应用部份(MAP)界面之间的互作,MIP/DIAMETER信号是自WIP-GW30输出后,途经AAA外部(AAAF)功能44以及AAA用户(AAAH)功能16,最后输入用户客服20。而MIP登录信息则是通过无线连结48而被纳入DIAMETER信号发送中。
AAAH 16针对HLR/HSS 14而借由移动应用部份(MAP)(锗界面)而与DIAMETER互作,使得HSS/HLR用于认证的运作正常。
AAAH 16是使用GPRS穿隧协议(GTP)(借由镓界面)而作为PLMN计费通讯网关功能(CGF)18的界面,以使得PLMN收费服务器的运作正常。
无线局域网络和UMTS PLMN 12之间的通话连续性可借由使用MIP(于WIP-GW30和用户客服20之间)和GTP(于用户客服20和GGSN22之间)而获得,而用户客服20提供两种界面间的互作,通话连续性可确保使用者在存取点(Access Point,例如32及34)间和UMTS及WLAN网络间移动时,其通话及网际协议地址皆能保持不变。而更为进步的是,当使用者在各网络间移动时,GGSN 22的运作正如同通话数据的锚定(Anchor Point)。举例来说,在结构10中,如果使用者如图2所示,自无线局域网络移动到UMTS网络(UMTS Access NW)50时,使用者的通话位置在GGSN 22中仍然是固定的,且因此在移动当中亦能够保持。当位于UMTS Access NW 50时,使用者设备36是借由PLMN中的UMTS无线存取网络(RAN)和伺服GPRS支持节点(SGSN)组件52而能与锚定的GGSN 22通信。无线局域网络和UMTS PLMN之间的交接是借由Iur界面(以46表示)所完成,而WIP-GW则支持自UMTS Iur界面46至UMTS RAN内的无线网络控制器(RNC)的运作。

Claims (18)

1.一种在一无线局域网络(WLAN)及一通用移动电信系统(UMTS)间提供紧密互作的方法,该方法包括系列步骤:
该UMTS及WLAN直接使用该UMTS及该WLAN间的移动网际通讯协议(MIP)而通信数据;以及
该UMTS及WLAN通过网际网络利用网际通讯协议(IP)而通信数据。
2.一种将一使用者设备(US)于一无线局域网络(WLAN)及一通用移动通信系统(UMTS)间交接的方法,该方法包括下列步骤:
该UMTS及WLAN利用一Iur界面以支持两者间的交接。
3.如权利要求1所述的方法,其特征在于当一UE在WLAN与UMTS间移动时,于DIAMETER信号发送的MIP提供两者间的通话维持。
4.如权利要求1所述的方法,其特征在于UMTS是经由DIAMETER-UMTS互作而使用公共区域移动网络计费平台。
5.如权利要求1所述的方法,其特征在于UMTS是使用PLMN用户位置登记/用户订购服务器以进行认证。
6.一种于一无线区网络(WLAN)及一通用移动通信系统(UMTS)间提供紧密互作的装置,其包括:
每一该UMTS及WLAN所具有的利用该UMTS及该WLAN间的移动网际协议(MIP)而与该两者的另一直接通讯数据的装置;以及
该WLAN所具有的利用网际通讯协议(IP)传输输出数据至网际网络的装置。
7.如权利要求6所述的装置,其特征在于该WLAN包括:
用以从一移动网络接收输入数据的装置。
8.如权利要求7所述的装置,其特征在于该移动网络是为一公共区域移动网络(PLMN)。
9.如权利要求8所述的装置,其特征在于该PLMN包括一用户客服(HA)用以使数据建立信道至该WLAN中所提供的一网际协议通讯网关(IPGW)。
10.如权利要求9所述的装置,其特征在于该HA更进一步利用IP而与网际网络进行通信。
11.如权利要求8所述的装置,其特征在于该PLMN包括认证、授权、会计用户(AAAH),以将认证与该WLAN中所提供的一AAA外部(AAAF)进行通信。
12.如权利要求11所述的装置,其特征在于该AAAF提供该AAAH与该WLANIP GW的通信。
13.如权利要求8所述的装置,其特征在于该AAAH是与HA及一用户位置登记/用户订购服务器(HLR/HSS)合作,以提供AAAH服务。
14.一种将一使用者设备(US)于一无线局域网络(WLAN)及一通用移动通信系统(UMTS)间交接的装置,包括:
该UMTS所具有的一Iur界面,以支持与该WLAN的交接。
15.如权利要求14所述的装置,其特征在于通过DIAMETER信号发送而利用MIP的装置,其是于一UE在该WLAN及该UMTS间移动时,提供WLAN及UMTS间的通话维持。
16.如权利要求6所述的装置,其特征在于UMTS是经由DIAMETER-UMTS互作而使用公共区域移动网络计费平台。
17.如权利要求6所述的装置,其特征在于UMTS是使用一具有一用户订购服务器/用户位置登记(HSS/HLR)的PLMN以进行认证。
18.一种于一无线局域网络(WLAN)及一通用移动通信系统(UMTS)间提供紧密互作的装置,包括:
每一该UMTS及WLAN所具有的利用该UMTS及WLAN间的移动网际协议(MIP)而与该两者的另一直接数据通信的装置;以及
该UMTS是利用一Iur与该WLAN进行通信,以提供一使用者设备(UE)从该UMTS及WLAN其中之一至该UMTS及WLAN其中之另一的一交接。
