Abstract

Description

制造电气端子和端子模件的方法
本发明总的涉及电气接插件,尤其涉及这些接插件的端子。具体地说,本发明涉及一种制造或装配电气端子的方法,这种电气端子包括用于端子模件内的端子。
通常的电气接插件包括一个装有若干端子的绝缘或介电的外壳。这些接插件可与互补配合的接插件或其它连接装置配合,其中这些端子与互补接插件的端接合或配合。
在现有技术中,从连续的金属材料薄片或条带上通过冲压成形这些端子来制造电气接插件的端子是众所周知的。在冲压或冲剪作业期间,薄片金属材料部分被切去,留下了端子的轮廓,它们基本上成形成所希望的构形。这些端子通常由薄片金属材料支承边和/或连接条连接,便于将这些材料移过各加工工序的工位和随后的制造作业。例如,可将冲压成形的端子传输到一个加工工位,在那里用一个电介的外壳将这些端子整体模压(overmoulded)以构成一端子模件。该整个模件包括整体模压的端子此时能被整体地插入一电气接插件外壳内。
由于电气接插件愈来愈微型化以及对高密集度端子排列不断提出要求,因此在达到这些目标方面,冲压过程继续产生障碍。一个问题涉及冲压或模压作业本身。如上指出的,当薄片金属材料被冲压成具有希望构形的坯料以便随后形成端子时,薄片金属材料固有地自各端子之间去除,留下所希望的它们的轮廓。因此,在各端子之间的密集度或间距受模压工具各部分宽度和端子部分或焊接区的宽度及被削弱的焊接点的总强度的限制。换句话说,在彼此紧邻的部位,这些端子不能为冲压。本发明旨在通过制造方法来解决这些问题,该方法包含一系列制作步骤,包括冲压和剪切工艺两方面,由于金属材料不再在各部分之间切除,因此这些工艺步骤导致了较高的密集度的端子排列和/或较宽的端子部分。
因此,本发明的一个目的是要提供一种新颖的改进的制造电气端子包括端子模件的方法。
在本发明的示例性实施例中,该方法一般包括将一张薄片金属材料冲压成有若干细长端子的一个坯料,这些端子在一端具有触点部分,而在另一端具有端子部分,借助于各端中间的连接条将这些端子连结在一起。各端子的触点部分通过冲压步骤彼此分离。各端子部分保持连结在薄片金属材料上。然而该坯料被剪切,使各端子部分分离。然后去除连接条,以使各端子分离。
本发明还构思一种利用上面概述的步骤制造端子模件的方法。尤其是,一介电外壳被整体模压在各端中间的端子周围,连接条处于外壳的外侧。随后可将连接条切去以分离各端子,借助于介电外壳使各端子绝缘隔离。
如本文中公开的,该方法包括在剪切步骤后在薄片金属材料平面外至少成形一些端子的步骤。具体地说,各端子的端子部分是这样成形的,使间隔的各端子部分配置在一个平面内,而其余的间隔端子部分配置在另一平面内。至少端子部分中的某些被成形在薄板金属材料的一侧。一些端子部分在两个平面内的情况下,这些端子部分能被用作焊接点,以保证电路迹线处在其边缘的印刷电路板的相对两侧。
此外,本文所述的优先实施例包括一个支承边,在冲压步骤后,将各端子的一端与自支承边上向内突出的指形部连结。在成形步骤期间,各指形部在与各端子部分中的某些相同的一侧上,在薄片金属材料平面外形成。从而这些指形部为移动薄片金属材料提供了支承,并保护了已形成的端子部分。
根据下面连同附图一起所作的详细说明,本发明的其它目的、特点和优点会变得明显。
据认为是新颖的本发明的特点在所附权利要求书中作了详细的限定。通过参照下面连同附图一起所作的说明,可对本发明及其目的和优点得到清楚的理解,其中相同的标号在各附图中标记相同的构件,其中:
图1是按照本发明方法中的第一步骤自薄片金属材料上冲下的坯料的平面图;

详细参照各附图,图1表示一个坯料,总的以10表示,它在本发明的制造方法的最初步骤中已从一连续的薄板金属材料或金属材料条上被冲压或模压而成。冲压过程冲去金属材料,留下一个包括若干细长分支条12的轮廓,这些细长分支条最终会被成形为细长端子的触点部分。这些端子在其相反端将包括由薄片金属材料的连续坯料14成形的端子部分。连续的连接条16连接这些分支条12。连续支承边18经指形部20连接于连续坏料14。指形部20与分支条12基本上成直线。在支承边18上冲出一排插头定向孔(indexing hole)22,如现有技术中已知那样,便于将坯料移过连续冲压工艺中的随后工位。
坯料10然后被馈送到一剪切工位,在那里连续的坯料14(图1)在图2中的线条24处被剪切,而且线条26处剪切出间隔的指形部20。在剪切线24之间的薄板金属材料最终被成形为细长端子的端子部。由图2可以理解,在剪切工艺过程中,材料并不像冲压或模压过程中那样自薄板金属切除。换句话说,剪切线24和26是用剪切刀片按“剪子”式操作制出的,留下彼此紧邻的端子部分24。这便允许端子部分尽可能的宽。宽的端子部分可比由冲压而非剪切作业成形的窄端子部分具有较强的焊接点而更可靠的滑动触点接合。
图2的冲压和剪切坯料然后按图3-5所示成形。具体地说,分支条12的末端在其平面外制出,以限定圆拱形触点部或表面30。间隔的端子部28a在薄片金属材料的平面外制出,被配置在一个平面内,而其余的间隔端子部28b保持在它们的平始平面内。因此,各间隔的端子部28a大体上处在第一平面内,而各间隔的端子部28b处在第二平面内。各间隔的端子部28b依旧由间隔的指形部20b连接于支承边,而其余的间隔指形部20a(它们已从端子部28a上切下)在e薄片金属材料平面外制出,因此,它们基本上处在端子部28a的平面内。最后,端子部28a的尖端或末端被制成向上或向外张开,以32表示。
在图3-5中所示的冲压成形的坯料然后能被传送到随后的工位,以进一步制作和/或装配成电气接插件。在这样的传输过程中,连续的冲压成形的金属条可被卷在一个卷筒上,并用纸样的材料或传输薄片金属隔开。成形的指形部20a和成形的端子部28a构成一个平面的几个部位,传输薄片金属的第一表面可依靠在这些部位上,限定成形的指形部20b,而间隔的端子部28b构成一个平面的几个部位,传输薄片金属的第二表面可依靠在这些部位上。
本发明设想通过上面概要说明的步骤制造的端子能被进一步制作成电气接插件内的整体组件的一个端子模件。更详细地说,图6-8表示一介电外壳34,它被整体模压在触点30和连接条16之间的分支条12周围。整体模压的外壳对电绝缘各端子并将这些端子刚性连接成一个供随后装入电气接插件内的模件是有效的。
在模压过程之前或之后,用一适当的切割作业将支承指条20a(图3-5)切去,如图6所示,也将支承边18去除,如图7和8所示。通过切割也将端子之间的连接条16去除,使各端子电分离,剩下一个完整的端子模件36。
最后,图9表示端子模件36(图8)如何能被用干电气插件。具体地说,端子模件被插到介电或绝缘的外壳40后部,使端子部30配置在外壳的向前突出的插头部42内,两端子部28a和28b在外壳的侧部44之间向后突出。如上所说,端子部28a和28b配置在不同的平面内,从而限定了其间的一个接口,一窄的电路板48沿箭头A的方向便插入该接口内。因此,端子部28a(28b)构成软焊到在电路板48相对侧的若干平行导体或电路迹线48a的焊接点。
图9A的子装件然后可被装配成如图9B所示的电气接插件。具体地说,将保护罩50滑移到一多路导体电缆52上。该电缆包括若干离散的电线54。将电线54的绝缘包层去掉,暴露电线的导电芯子长度。然而将暴露的电线芯子软焊到电路板48的导线48a上,从而使电缆52的电线的导电芯子电连接到接插件组件内的端子模件36的端子部28a和28b。然后将保护罩50沿箭头“B”方向向前移动,与碰锁56进入碰锁接合,构成完整的电气接插件组件。
应当理解,本发明可按其它特定的方式来实施而不背离其精神或主要特征。因此,无论从哪一点看,都认为本范例和实施例是示例性的而非限制性的,本发明并不限于本文所提供的细节。

Claims (6)

1.一种制造端子模件(36)的方法,包括如下步骤:
自一金属材料薄片上冲出一个具有若干细长端子的坯料(10),在这些端子的一端具有触点部(30),在其另一端具有端子部(28a,28b),借助于端部中间的连接条(16)将这些端子连接在一起,各端子的触点部(30)通过冲压彼此分离,两端子部(28a,28b)保持连接在金属片内;
剪切所述坯料,使所述端子部(28a,28b)分离;
将一介电外壳(34)整体模压在端子两端中间的端子周围,将连接条(16)配置在该外壳外侧;
切下连接件(16),使各端子分离。
2.按权利要求1所述的方法,其特征在于包括在剪切步骤后在金属片平面之外成形端子中的至少某些端子(28a)的步骤。
3.按权利要求2所述的方法,其特征在于所述成形步骤包括将端子部这样成形以使间隔的端子部(28b)配置在另一平面内的步骤。
4.按权利要求2所述的方法,其特征在于所述成形步骤包括将所述端子中的至少某些端子(28a)成形在薄片金属材料的一侧。
5.按权利要求4所述的方法,其特征在于在所述冲压步骤后,所述端子中的一端由支承边(18)连结在一起,指形部(20)自那里伸出,所述成形步骤包括在与所述至少某些端子部(28a)的同一侧上,在薄片金属材料平面之外成形指形部中至少某些指形部(20a)的步骤,借此,至少某些指形部(20a)为传送薄片金属材料提供支承,并保护已成形的端子部(28a)。
6.按权利要求5所述的方法,其特征在于包括在所述整体模压步骤后切断所述支承边(18)和指形部(20)的步骤。
