Abstract
一种液晶显示器用背照灯,其特征在于,通过对逆变器的输出和串联于冷阴极管的半导体开关的切换两个加以组合并进行控制,可用一个逆变器控制3根冷阴极管的点亮。
Description
本发明涉及透射型液晶显示器使用的背照灯,尤其涉及场顺序制液晶显示器用的背照灯。
近年来,人们不断地使用彩色液晶显示器作为笔记本计算机或小型液晶电视机等的彩色显示的显示装置。
除极少部分特殊外,彩色液晶显示器的彩色化都采用滤色片制式。
在与滤色片配合可进行彩色显示的液晶显示装置中,组合红、绿、蓝3色点显示彩色。
这种滤色片价格昂贵,且粘贴于面板的作业精度要求高。
当采用滤色片时,为了获得与黑白液晶显示板有相同的图像分辨率,需要3倍的点数,因而水平方向的驱动电路数为一般液晶显示板的3倍,增加了费用,同时,因面板与驱动电路的连接点也为3倍,故连接作业变得困难。
因此,作为采用液晶板进行彩色显示的方法,滤色片制增加费用的因素多,难以低价制造。另外,滤色片的透光率只有约20%,使用滤色片的亮度约为1/5,故存在背照灯功耗大的缺点。
作为不采用滤色片的彩色液晶显示装置,在场顺序制方面,如特开平1-179914揭示了一种将黑自液晶板与3色背照灯组合显示彩色的方法,与滤色片制相比,能实现价廉、高图像分辨率的彩色显示。关于3色背照灯,如特愿平7-271994或特愿平8-49476揭示了一种采用发红、绿、蓝3色的3根冷阴极管安装在与使用已往白色冷阴极管和导光板的薄型背照灯同等大小的空间的方法。
但是,难以使用价廉的半导体开关来切换产生高电压点亮冷阴极管的逆变器电路,因而通过将逆变器连接各个冷阴极管、控制3个逆变器的输出来控制点亮3根冷阴极管。再有,对于逆变器的尺寸,虽点亮时间在1/3以下,但由于峰值电流基本不变,故不可能对线圈等其它元件小型化。因此,需要3个与已有技术同等大小的逆变器,对笔记本式计算机等的使用存在大的问题。在费用方面由于逆变器价格为冷阴极管的数倍,故存在费用高的问题。
考虑到的一种解决手段,如图3所示,将通常低价易得到的耐高压双向可通电流的双向晶闸管(可控硅)构成的开关8、9和10分别与发红、绿、蓝3色的3根冷阴极管5、6和7串联,并通过由直流电源1和逆变器3构成的高电压发生手段4a给这些串联电路施加电压。
然而,在由双向晶闸管构成的开关8、9及10全部处于OFF(截止)状态下,当高电压发生手段4a施加电压时,会因这些开关8、9及10的耐压不够而使某个冷阴极管5、6或7产生放电,导致构成不完全息灭状态。
因此,考虑到用双向晶闸管难以控制点亮冷阴极管,在已有技术中,如图4所示,对冷阴极管5、6和7连接各自独立的逆变器3a、3b和3c,用开关2a、2b及2c控制各逆变器3a、3b及3c的输入电源,对冷阴极管5、6和7进行点亮控制。这样做不能解决上述课题。
本发明鉴于上述情况,其要解决的课题是,提供一种场顺序制液晶显示器用背照灯,可用一个逆变器控制3根冷阴极管点亮。
为解决上述课题的本发明,其特征在于,借助逆变器的输出和串联于冷阴极管的半导体开关的切换两者加以组合并进行控制,可用一个逆变器控制3根冷阴极管的点亮。

下面,说明本发明的实施形态。
图1为表示本发明较佳实施形态的方框图,它由直流电源1、使用晶体管等的半导体开关2、和逆变器3构成输出可控的高电压发生手段4。
发红、绿、蓝3色的3根冷阴极管5、6、和7并联连接于所述输出可控的高电压发生手段4,同时,各冷阴极管5、6和7分别串接有由通常不难购得而且价廉的耐高压双向可通电流的双向晶闸管构成的开关手段8、9和10。
在本发明实施形态中,除了分别串联于冷阴极管5、6和7并由双向晶闸管构成的开关手段8、9及10以外,还有高电压发生手段4中设有控制逆变器3电源的开关2,通过对这些开关2及开关手段8、9和10进行组合控制,就可稳定控制冷阴极管5、6及7的放电。
具体来说,在双向晶闸管构成的开关手段8、9和10处于OFF(截止)状态,当从高电压发生手段4施加有高电压时,会引起某个冷阴极管5、6或7放电。为解决该问题想不使冷阴极管5、6或7放电时,可通过使构成高电压发生手段4的开关2呈OFF状态,使逆变器3的输出电压低于放电起始电压,这样就能阻止所有冷阴极管5、6和7的放电。
另外,在场顺序制下选择应点亮的冷阴极管5、6及7时,应与电源接通同时点亮的冷阴极管5、6和7必定为红、绿、蓝中的一根,且在冷阴极管5、6或7中一根息灭后至下一别的冷阴极管5、6或7点亮为止,需要有数毫秒的间隔。
因此,如图2所示,在开关2为ON(接通)状态,可从逆变器3施加高电压时,开关手段8、9及10中必定只有一个可为ON状态。此时,若冷阴极管5、6和7的放电起始电压相同,则与ON状态开关串联的冷阴极管5、6或7内只有一根点亮。
由于冷阴极管5、6或7中一根点亮使逆变器3输出电压下降,故与OFF状态开关手段8、9或10串联的其它冷阴极管5、6或7不会放电。因此,能确保只有所选一根冷阴极管5、6或7点亮,而其它冷阴极管5、6或7不会发生放电。
图2中,在开关2为ON状态,可从逆变器3施加高压之前,开关手段8、9及10中某一个为ON状态。这是为了使与ON状态开关手段8、9或10串联的冷阴极管5、6或7可靠地点亮。通常,由于从开关2为ON状态,电源接人逆变器3开始至输出高电压为止的时间,比开关手段8、9或10变为ON状态的时间长,故即使开关2与开关手段8、9或10同时接通也没有关系。从开关2变为OFF状态之后至使开关手段8、9及10全部为OFF状态为止留有一定的时间,这时顾及高电压发生手段4中逆变器3的输出降至冷阴极管5、6或7放电起始电压以下的时间差,根据逆变器的种类,有时需要这考虑。按照上述控制,能稳定控制冷阴极管5、6及7的点亮。
在本发明的实施例中,可用一个逆变器控制3根冷阴极管,逆变器的个数为1/3,可大幅度降低成本,并小型化。通过设置与各冷阴极管串联的开关手段,使高压配线路径为一条,能够小型化。
冷阴极管不亮时,由于逆变器输入电源为OFF状态,故能防止无用电力消耗。
本发明的应用范围,不仅是场顺序制的背照灯,也能广泛应用于切换点亮多个放电管同时加以使用的系统。
Claims (5)
1.一种液晶显示器用背照灯,其特征在于,备有:输出可控的高电压发生手段,连接于所述高电压发生手段的多个放电管,和分别与所述放电管串联连接的开关手段。
2.如权利要求1所述的背照灯,其特征在于,在所述高电压发生手段输出高电压期间,所述开关手段中只有某一个处于导通状态。
3.如权利要求1或2所述的背照灯,其特征在于,所述开关手段为双向晶闸管。
4.如权利要求1或2或3所述的背照灯,其特征在于,所述多个放电管分别为红、绿、蓝的3根冷阴极管。
5.如权利要求1至4任一权利要求所述的背照灯,其特征在于,作为所述高电压发生手段的输出控制方法,控制所述高电压发生手段的输入电源。
