技术领域
本发明广泛地涉及光纤连接器工艺,尤其涉及一种在其一端或两端用于接收光纤连接器的如适配器的插座。
背景技术
已经使用了多种设计的光纤连接器来终止光纤光缆,和促进光缆与其它光缆或其它光纤传输设备的连接。典型的光纤连接器包括一个套管,该套管将置于连接器内部的一个光纤或多个光纤安装并对中。套管可以由如陶瓷的材料制成。套管夹或连接器的其它外壳元件包围着套管,可用如模制塑料的材料制备这些元件。在外壳或套管夹的内部可以放置一个弹簧,这样,套管容易产生向前的偏向,与另外一个配对连接设备的安装光纤的套管啮合。
一对光纤连接器或一个连接器和另外一个光纤传输设备常常在适配器中连接,该适配器使光纤居中,以提供低的插入损耗。适配器将连接器连接到一起,以使被膜包起来的光纤首尾相连。适配器可以是并联元件,或设计适配器以使其安装在平板、底板、电路板等等的开口中。
当在光纤连接器中终止光纤与在电连接器中终止电导体相对时,以及当其中的“活性”光纤连接器的光纤末端被曝露这种情况发生时,会遇到各种问题,可能发生典型情况是当在适配器一端的其中一个光纤连接器被移开时,在适配器中留下另外一个“活性”光纤连接器。
特别是,曝露的光纤末端可能被不利的危险环境破坏,灰尘和污物的聚集可能损坏光纤的光传输能力。另外一个非常重要的问题是保护操作者的眼睛,使其免受从活性光纤曝露的末端发出的危险光束的损害。例如,操作者的眼睛可能被从未保护的插座或适配器发出的危险光束损害。
迄今,已使用了防尘盖,端盖或安装了弹簧的闸板来关闭适配器打开的一端,由此遮盖曝露的光纤末端,保护光纤末端免受不利的危险环境破坏,并防止光纤末端从适配器中发出光能量。有一种安装了弹簧的闸板是这样的,它被枢轴地安装在邻近其开口端的适配器上,并且它可枢轴地移动以关闭和打开开口端。当闸板元件被关闭时,闸板元件延伸地穿过连接器/适配器组件的光轴。当插入光纤连接器接合时,闸板元件处于打开状态,闸板元件可能枢轴地离开光轴。
如上所述的枢轴安装的闸板可以安装在适配器的外部或内部。在许多情况下,由于环境空间的缺乏,闸板向外旋转到开口位置,因而不能安装在适配器的外部。内部闸板也会导致问题的发生,要记住光纤连接器、适配器等都是很小的配件,很难在适配器的外套内部安装闸板。本发明的目的是解决这些不同的问题,尤其通过提供一个独特的结构,将闸板安装到插座外套的内部,如适配器外套的内部。
发明内容
因而,本发明的一个目的是提供沿光轴方向接受光纤连接器的新的和改进的插座。
在本发明的一个实施例中,插座包括具有至少一个开口端的外套,该开口端接受在此将其插入到光轴上的光纤连接器,在远离开口端的外套内提供了一个开口;装配到所述开口的固定平板;枢轴地安装在固定平板(34)上的闸板元件,使闸板元件枢轴地朝向和离开光轴转动,来关闭和打开开口端。
如这里所公开的,远离的开口在外套的侧壁内。固定平板装配在开口中,优选的是其尺寸基本上封闭开口。闸板元件被枢轴地安装到固定平板上,并被放置在外套的内部。
插座的其它特征包括被有效地连接在闸板元件和固定平板之间的使闸板元件偏向关闭位置的弹簧。因此,可以提供一个包括固定平板,闸板元件和弹簧的独立的闸板的组件。通过将固定平板上的至少一个固定杆压配到外套中的固定孔内,将这里所示的固定平板压配到外套的开口中。

具体实施方式
通过详细地参考附图,本发明在此引入公开了普遍标志为10的双头的适配器,其中包括普遍标志为12的分成两部分的外套,和普遍标志为14的闸板组件。虽然本发明公开的是适配器,但是本发明的构思可同等地适用于很宽范围的沿光轴方向接受光纤连接器或其它光纤传输设备的插座。
基于这样的理解,适配器外套12的横截面一般为矩形,并包括一个第一矩形外套部件16,该部件通过第一外套部件的多个插销臂20与第二外套部件上的多个插销突起22锁式地啮合,从而与第二矩形外套部件18接合。在图1和2中可以最好地看出,第一外套部件16包括在其对侧的一对插销臂24,在被安装的插座10的内部锁式地啮合一个适当的结构。在图3中可以最好地看出,两个外套部件均包括接受一对光纤连接器突出套管的内部对准的圆柱形凸起26,这样被密封的光纤沿着光轴28的方向首尾相连。第一外套部件16具有一个开口端30,在箭头“A”的方向(图3)接受第一光纤连接器,第二外套部件18具有一个开口端31,在箭头“B”的方向接受第二或配对的光纤连接器。
本发明在此构思了一个将闸板安装到插座外套内部的独特系统,如“背景技术”所述,上部,内部的闸板非常难以装配到很小的光纤插座中去。尤其难以通过接受光纤连接器插座的开口端装配闸板。一般地,本发明考虑通过远离插座外套的开口端的开口将闸板安装到插座的内部。
特别地,如图2和3中所示,外套12分为两部分,第一外套部件16包括一个开口32,在该开口内安装了闸板组件14。更特别的是,闸板组件14是整装的组件,并包括一个固定平板34、一个枢轴地安装到固定平板上的闸板元件36、一个使闸板元件偏向关闭位置的盘状弹簧38、和多个固定杆40,其使闸板组件易于安装到适配器外套的开口32内部。
开口32一般是矩形的,使闸板组件14的固定平板34的大小和形状适于安装到开口的内部,并基本上封闭开口。开口的一对拐角32a和固定平板的一对拐角34a是成角度的,以阻止闸板组件以错误的方向安装到开口的内部。
通过将闸板组件上的一对枢轴42接入到从固定平板34突出的枢轴颈44中,将闸板组件36枢轴地安装到固定平板34上。闸板元件和固定平板都可以由塑料材料制成,枢轴杆和枢轴颈可以分别与那些部件浇注集成。
一般地,提供了将闸板组件14压配到适配器外套开口32内部的装置。尤其是固定杆40被压配到第一外套部分15的多个固定孔46(图2和3)之内,开口32的内部。可以将固定杆40与固定平板34一起浇注集成。在图3中可以最好地看出,闸板元件36被枢轴地安装,使其相应于光轴28枢轴地转动到通常关闭的开口端30。从图3中实线可看出,当闸板元件如所示的被关闭时,闸板元件36横穿光轴28延伸。通过在箭头“A”的方向插入光纤连接器连接时,闸板元件枢轴地离开光轴朝向虚线位置转动。
最后,如图3实线所示,弹簧38(图1)有效的连接了闸板元件36和固定平板34,使闸板元件偏向其关闭位置。弹簧是围绕着闸板元件枢轴杆42之一的盘状弹簧。盘状弹簧的一端锁位在固定平板34内部的通道50中(图1),盘状弹簧相对的一端52(图2)偏压靠置于离闸板元件32背面的一侧,以使盘状弹簧维持在加载状态,并使闸板元件偏向其关闭位置。
应当理解,本发明可以不偏离其精神实质或中心特征以其它的特定形式实施。因此,在所有方面应认为目前的实例和具体装置是用来说明的,而不是用来限制的,并且本发明不受以上所给出的细节的限制。
Claims (8)
1.一种沿光轴(28)接受光纤连接器的插座(10),包括:
外套(12),该外套具有接受光纤连接器的开口端(30)以及远离所述开口端的一个开口(32);
装配到所述开口(32)的固定平板(34);以及
枢轴地安装在固定平板(34)上的闸板元件(36),用于使闸板元件枢轴地朝向和离开光轴(28)转动,以关闭和打开所述开口端(30)。
2.如权利要求1的插座,其中所述固定平板(34)的大小适于基本上封闭所述的开口(32)。
3.如权利要求1的插座,包括将所述固定平板(34)压配到所述开口(32)的装置(40、46)。
4.如权利要求3的插座,其中所述的压配装置包括至少一个压配到外套(12)固定孔(46)中的固定平板(34)上的固定杆(40)。
5.如权利要求1的插座,包括有效地连接在闸板元件(36)和固定平板(34)之间的弹簧装置(38),以使闸板元件偏向关闭位置。
6.如权利要求1的插座,其中所述的开口(32)在外套的侧壁中。
7.如权利要求1的插座,其中闸板元件(36)是与外套(12)独立地枢轴地安装在固定平板(34)上。
8.如权利要求7的插座,其中外套(12)包括侧壁和该开口(32)设置在穿过该外套的侧壁。
