本发明涉及一种压敏胶粘制品,如标签,的可印刷防粘组合物,以及含有这种防粘组合物的制品。
现有技术的描述
已知的胶粘制品的种类有许多,如标签、胶带、便笺本(note pads)等。标签特别用于商包(businees forms)、档案、广告等的用途上。标签有各种各样的形状和尺寸,如玻璃窗标签、机器标签、整体(integrated)标签等。整体标签是在加工过程中与商包、邮件等形成一整体的。
十分适合与特殊制品一起使用的粘合剂的品种取决于制品的最终用途。粘合剂可以是可再粘贴的(repositionable)、永久性的或可揭下的。例如,在某些应用中希望将制品永久地固定到物体上,如标签固定到文件夹上。这些应用中需要永久性粘合剂。另一方面,可再粘贴粘合剂可以施加到物体上,然后揭下来,再施加到物体上。如NoteStix、PostIt便笺的便笺本是使用可再粘贴粘合剂的制品的例子。CleanTac是具有可再粘贴粘合剂标签的例子。最后,当制品在使用后要被揭下来的时候,可揭下粘合剂是合适的,但一般不能再用。然而,可揭下粘合剂可以包括在一段时间后会变成永久性的粘合剂。
不论是何种用途,胶粘制品都应能储存并易于使用。这些制品可以利用独立的一次性衬,该衬与粘合剂基材面对面接触,衬的一侧涂有防粘材料,这一侧与粘合剂基材的粘合剂侧相接触。在使用前,将衬从粘合剂上剥下来。这种胶粘制品通常称之为“有衬”标签。此外,胶粘制品可以是一侧涂有防粘材料,相对一侧涂有粘合剂材料的基材。这种无衬标签可以存放在垫子或辊上。
防粘涂(release)层便于将涂有粘合剂的基材从衬或垫上揭下来,也便于将无衬标签从辊上解卷。防粘涂层应具有足够的粘合性能将例如有衬标签维持在其背面,或者将无衬标签维持在垫子或辊上,而且还应有足够的防粘性能以使得标签能从背面或垫子上剥下,或者从辊上解卷,同时维持其粘合性能。
有时,在生产具有上述性能又含有印刷物质(printed matter)的防粘涂层时会存在一些问题,其中一个问题是涉及保持在基材上的印刷物质的强度以使得印刷物质不被粘合剂所脱掉,或不因偶然的磨擦或向标签加力而被抹掉。另一问题是如“o”、“a”、“e”等字母被“填充”。当基材的孔隙率不足以吸收墨水时,墨水有散开的趋势,就会发生填充。如果基材的孔隙率太小,墨水不能充分吸干,这种被抹掉以及相关的问题就会发生。
作为上述问题的一个例子,防粘涂层可能被用来印上邮网(Postnet)的条码或FIM码以进行自动邮递。邮网(数字编码技术)用来在信封上编上ZIP码或ZIP+4码,它位于邮件的右下部。FIMs(表面识别标记,FacingIdentification Marks)用来识别商用回函(Business Reply Main),是一系列印在邮件的中上部的垂条,就在邮资邮戳的左侧。FIMs非常有利于邮递自动化;因此条码的质量和方位对自动化技术的成功是十分关键的,例如在无衬标签的应用中,条码印在基材的防粘表面。如果所印邮戳散开或抹掉,则包含在相应条码中的信息不能被扫描。这将导致较便宜的大量邮递的速度的下降。对于每一邮件,都要支付标准邮资,增加了客户的成本,邮件必须机械地分类,会引起迟延。
在热转移(theramal transfer)印刷时,不仅希望有高的表面能,而且表面必须十分光滑。大多数热转移基材都含有陶土涂层,它具有相对高的表面能和弯曲性质,以增强印墨的转移和固定。防粘涂层给标签面赋予了较低的表面能以得到更好的防粘性质;然而,标签的孔隙率下降了,使得印刷更为困难。因此高表面能提供了高印刷质量,而较低的表面能提供了好的防粘性质。所以需要一种可印刷的防粘涂层,它既具有高的印刷质量又具有好的防粘性质。
发明概述
本发明涉及一种与压敏胶粘制品,特别是标签,一起使用的可印刷防粘组合物。该防粘组合物对于不同的粘合剂:可再粘贴的、永久性的和可揭下的都提供了适当的防粘性能。
本发明的一个目的是提供一种用作永久性粘合剂防粘层的组合物,包括如下混合物:约50-约95重量份的聚乙烯;和约5-约20重量份的硅乳剂。
本发明还提供了一种用作可再粘贴的粘合剂防粘层的组合物,包括如下混合物:大量乙烯氯乙烯共聚物;和小量聚乙烯乳剂。
在另一方案中,本发明还提供了一种用作可再粘贴的粘合剂防粘层的组合物,包括如下混合物:约10-约80重量份的表面活性剂;和约20-约90重量份的丙烯酸聚合物
在本发明的再一方案中,提供了一种制品,该制品包括基材;涂在基材上的热转移底漆(primer);热转移底漆涂层上的防粘层,其中热转移底漆涂层包括:约20-约50重量份的乳胶;和约50-约80重量份的颜料。

应当理解,前面的一般描述和下面的详细描述都只是作为例子和用于解释,而不是象权利要求一样来限定本发明。
优选实施方案的详细描述
本发明的目的是提供适于用一种喷墨打印机,视频打印机(video jet)等进行打印,并与如标签等的压敏粘胶制品一起使用的可印刷防粘组合物。本发明还涉及一种制品,如标签,它包括基材,如纸;可选择地涂在基材上的热转移底漆;涂在热转移底漆涂层或基材上的防粘层。标签可以是无衬的或有衬的。本发明的可印刷防粘组合物可以与具有永久性、可再粘贴或可揭下粘合剂的标签一起使用。防粘层的特定组合物取决于与最终使用目的相适应的粘合剂的种类。
按照本发明,正如在这里所具体描述的,提供了一种用作永久性粘合剂的防粘组合物。该组合物包括如下混合物:约50-约95重量份的聚乙烯;和约5-约20重量份的硅乳剂。
优选地,聚乙烯的熔点为100℃或更高。聚乙烯优选为乳剂,可以从Michel-man Inc.以MICHEM 460购得,这是一种聚乙烯乳剂,密度为8.3,pH值为10.1,熔点为110℃,硬度为1.5。其它乳胶还包括Michelman公司的MICHEM 32535,74040,46025和68725。这一组合物优选含有约80-约95重量份的聚乙烯。
硅乳剂优选含有有机聚硅氧烷,如甲基氢聚硅氧烷,其例子有SYLOFF 1171,可从Dow Corning Corporation购得,或二甲基聚硅氧烷,其例子有“PC-107”,可从Rhone-Poulenc购得。组合物优选含有约5重量份的硅乳剂。
组合物还可以进一步含有多至20重量份的乙烯氯乙烯共聚物。例如,该乙烯氯乙烯共聚物的混合物可以是从Air Product&Chemical,Inc.公司购得的VALCOAT 531。
组合物也可以含有其它不会对所需的防粘性质产生不良影响的其他添加剂,如颜料,增稠剂,粘结剂和两性材料。
可以包含在热转移底漆涂层组合物中的颜料的例子包括BURGESS No.28,可以从Burgess Pigment购得,以及SUPERMITE,可从ECC International购得。在本发明的热转移阻挡层涂层组合物中也可以使用EVA增稠剂,如从Air Products购得的AIRFLEX 1650。可以包含在热转移阻挡层涂层组合物中的合适的粘结剂的例子包括从Air Products公司购得的AIRFLEX 100 HS,从Cargill购得的CARGILL 6431,从Hercules购得的KRISTALEX 3070,从Reichhold购得的REICHHOLD 68-010,从Union Carbide购得的UCAR LATEX 376。可以包含在防粘组合物中的两性材料包括从GAF公司购得的ALIPAL CD-128,从BASF公司购得的PLURONIC L-101,从Texaco公司购得的表面活性剂M-310,从Henkel公司购得的TEXAPHOR 963,从Union Carbide购得的TRITON GR5M,以及从AmericanCyanamid Co.购得的两性表面活性剂AEROSOL 22,C26H43NO10Na4S。两性材料提高防粘性能和印刷性质。
按照本发明,正如在这时里所具体描述的,提供了一种用作可再粘贴的粘合剂的防粘组合物,该组合物包括如下混合物:大量的乙烯氯乙烯共聚物;和少量的聚乙烯乳剂。
可用在本发明中的聚乙烯乳剂包括,但不限于,MICHEM 460,MICHEM 32535,MICHEM 68725,MICHEM 74040和MICHEM 46025。组合物优选含有约60-约90重量份的乙烯氯乙烯共聚物,最优选含有75重量份的乙烯氯乙烯共聚物。
可以在本发明中使用的乙烯氯乙烯共聚物包括,但不限于,VALCOAT 531。组合物优选含有约10-约40重量份的聚乙烯乳剂,特别优选含有25重量份的聚乙烯乳剂。
组合物还可以含有不对所需的防粘性质产生不良影响的其它添加剂,如上面描述过的颜料、增稠剂、粘结剂和两性材料。
按照本发明,正如在这时里所具体描述的,提供了一种防粘组合物,它含有:约10-约80重量份的表面活性剂;约20-约90重量份的丙烯酸共聚物。
举例来说,表面活性剂可选自硫代琥珀酸盐(sulfosuccinamate)化合物,优选N-(1,2-二羧乙基)-N-十八烷基硫代琥珀酸四钠。其它表面活性剂包括SURFACT M-310(Texaco),ALIPAL CD-128(GAF Corp)和TRITON GR5M(Union Carbide)。可以用在本发明中的特殊硫代琥珀酸盐是AEROSOL 22,可从American Cyanamid Co.购得。防粘组合物优选含有约20-约60重量份的表面活性剂。组合物还可以以MICHEM 170乳剂的形式,含有硬脂酸钙。
丙烯酸共聚物可以选自如从Rohm&Haas Co.购得的ACRYSOL ASE-60的工业制剂。另一原料是从Alco Chemicals购得的ALCOGUM L-31。防粘组合物优选含有约40-约80重量份的丙烯酸共聚物。
上面描述的含有表面活性剂和丙烯酸聚合物的防粘组合物特别适合于用作喷墨打印机的可印刷防粘材料。由于其适当的孔隙率和防粘性能,防粘组合物能与印墨喷嘴一起起作用以接受印墨。印墨被部分地吸收到基材中,所以能很快地干燥而不会散开。以水为基础的喷墨打印机,如VideoJet,利用含有至少50份丙烯酸聚合物的制剂能产生较好的印刷质量和干燥时间。对以油为基础的喷墨打印机,如Trident,为得到较好的印刷质量和干燥时间,需要至少60份的丙烯酸聚合物。
适合于用作喷墨打印机的可印刷防粘组合物还可以含有约10-约20重量份的硬脂酸钙乳剂(如Michelman公司的MICHEM 170)来增强边沿的清晰度。
可喷墨印刷的防粘组合物可以涂在基材上,优选20#或24#标准纸,如24#Union Camp Alkaline。适于喷墨打印机的防粘组合物优选用迈耶棒、dahlgren、逆向辊,直接槽辊(direct gravure),逆向槽辊(reverse gravure),直接或转移式胶版(direct and offset flexo)涂布0.37-1.8gsm。防粘层对于胶印(flexo)、油印(litho)、照相凹版(gravure)和点阵打印机以及激光打印机是可印刷的。
任何上面描述的防粘组合物都可以涂布在如纸的基材上以获得一种制品,优选为一种标签。制品可以通过将防粘组合物涂在基材的一侧的至少一部分上来制备。热转移底漆涂层可以置于基材和防粘层之间。
根据其用途,制品可以含有永久性或可再粘贴的粘合剂。防粘层组合物应当作出相应的选择。粘合剂被施于相对于防粘层的基材的另一侧,如无衬标签;或被施于不同基材的一侧的至少一部分,这时粘合剂与防粘层接触,如有衬标签。
如果在纸上预先涂有热转移底漆涂层,则能在平板纸(如Finch Fine 24#料)上获得改进的图象质量。热转移底漆涂层在纸和打印机头之间提供了较平滑的接触表面。它也作为绝缘层或阻挡层防止在打印操作中产生的热透到纸里。色带(ribbon)上涂有一层蜡,它能融化并释放出印墨。通过将热保持在表面,墨水被印在防粘表面上,改进了打印质量并得到了高级的图象。热转移底漆涂层还用来粘结防粘涂层和基材,增加防粘涂层的破损和磨损阻力。
为代替热转移底漆涂层,可以在基材和防粘涂层之间提供一阻挡层,例如,可以是乙烯乙酸酯/乙烯的共聚物,如Air Products的AIRFLEX 1650。
按照本发明,正如这里所具体描述的,提供了一种制品,包括基材,涂在基材上的热转移底漆涂层,涂在热转移底漆涂层上的防粘层。所述热转移底漆涂层包括:约20-约50重量份的乳胶;约50-约80重量份的颜料。
例如,颜料可以选自Rohm and Hass Co.的ROPAQUE 84。为获得平滑的涂层,颜料优选具有小的粒径。优选地,热转移底漆涂层含有80重量份的颜料。
例如,乳胶可以是如Dow Chemical的LATEX 620的工业制剂。优选地,热转移底漆涂层含有约20重量份的乳胶。
在本发明中有用的基材仍优选24#或20#纸。可以使用能从市场上买到的强化的(Consolidarted)20#Finch Fine,以及可从市场上买到的其它类型的热转移纸张。其它基材包括薄膜、TYVEK、和聚酯等。热转移底漆涂层的涂布重量优选为2.5-4.0gsm,进一步优选为2.8-3.8gsm。防粘组合物的涂布重量优选为5.0-8.0gsm,进一步优选为5.6-7.5gsm。
必要时,基材可以预先涂上热转移底漆,然后再制备防粘组合物,并涂到热转移底漆涂层上;或者在不存在热转移底漆涂层时,涂到基材上,可以使用如迈耶棒的涂布器。涂布器可以使用dahlgren,胶版(flexo),凹版刮板(gravureblade)或辊对辊(roll to roll)。优选使用No.28迈耶棒。迈耶棒是一种具有不同直径的涂布棒或杆,可以选择用于进行不同量的涂布。
上面描述的含有表面活性剂和丙烯酸聚合物的防粘组合物特别适用于喷墨打印机的可印刷防粘。
对于以水为基础的喷墨打印机,如VideoJet,使用含有至少50份丙烯酸聚合物的制剂能产生较好的打印质量和干燥时间。对于以油为基础的喷墨打印机,如Trident,要得到较好的打印质量和干燥时间,需要至少60份的丙烯酸聚合物。
适于喷墨打印机的可印刷防粘组合物可以含有10-20重量份的硬脂酸钙乳胶,如Michelman Inc.的MICHEM 170,以增强边沿的清晰度。
适于喷墨打印机的可印刷防粘组合物被涂布在基材上,优选20#或14#标准纸,如24# Union Camp Alkaline。
适于喷墨打印机的可印刷防粘组合物可以使用迈耶棒、dahlgren、逆向辊(reverse roll),直接槽辊(direct gravure),逆向槽辊(reverse gravure),直接或转移式胶版(direct and offset flexo)涂布0.37-1.8gsm。防粘层对于胶印(flexo)、油印(litho)、凹板(gravure)和点阵打印机是可印刷的。

(a)约20-约50重量份的乳胶;和
(b)约50-约80重量份的颜料。
23.根据权利要求22的制品,其中热转移底漆涂层含有:
(a)约20重量份的乳胶;和
(b)约80重量份的颜料。
24.一种用于可再粘贴的粘合剂的防粘组合物,包括:
(a)约10-约80重量份的表面活性剂;和
(b)约20-约90重量份的丙烯酸共聚物。
25.根据权利要求24的组合物,其中,该防粘层包含:
(a)约20-约60重量份的表面活性剂;和
(b)约40-约80重量份的丙烯酸共聚物。
26.根据权利要求24的组合物,其中表面活性剂选自硫代琥珀酸盐(sulfo-succinamate)的化合物。
27.根据权利要求26的组合物,其中表面活性剂是N-(1,2-二羧乙基)-N-十八烷基硫代琥珀酸四钠。
