Description

具有增强的雕刻外表的塑料瓶
本发明涉及诸如瓶子之类的塑料容器,它具有厚度基本均匀的侧壁,但给人以厚度并不均匀的外表,从而具有装饰功能。本发明特别涉及在诸如碳酸饮料的升高的压力下用来贮存液体的瓶子。
在历史上许多用来贮存特殊品牌液体产品(例如碳酸饮料)的玻璃瓶是特制的,它具有通过改变壁厚而获得的型式。这种特殊结构对于贮存在这种瓶子里进行销售的特定的液体产品来说常常具有标志意义。当用塑料容器特别是单一用途的容器代替玻璃容器时,由于成本的限制,要求塑料瓶侧壁厚度保持尽可能的薄。因此,在玻璃瓶上使用的、通过侧壁厚度实质性的变化而产生的结构型式不可能有效地用于塑料瓶。当许多产品采用无表面特征,从而没有标志意义的同类瓶子时,对具有这种特征的瓶子的需求出现了,但是很不令人满意。
曾有人试图制造具有这种表面特征的瓶子,但他们只是模制一个具有均匀厚度侧壁、以及其外表面与以前使用的玻璃容器外表面是匹配的容器。当这种瓶子用来贮存非高压的液体时,这种瓶子一般保持着原状。然而,当这种瓶子用来贮存高于大气压力的液体(例如碳酸饮料)时,在瓶子内的内部压力将基本上消除表面特征,除非显著地增加瓶子的侧壁厚度,但这使得这种瓶子在经济上是不能令人满意的。结果,现在公开购买的瓶子的外形几乎没有标志意义,从而历史上许多重要的标志正在逐渐地减少其使用。由于不用这类标志而可能造成的损失是不能接受的,因此需要低成本的、但又具有过去的玻璃瓶子外表的令人满意的瓶子。
按照本发明的一种塑料瓶子基本上具有均匀的侧壁厚度和雕刻外表,这种雕刻外表依靠周围的光线条件在5到10米距离内是可识别的。这种瓶子一般包括一在一下部垫托物上支承该瓶子的底部,一从与底部相连的下边界向上延伸至一上边界的侧壁部分,一从侧壁部分的上边界延伸至一颈部的肩部,以及一与颈部相连的、用来接纳一瓶盖的收口部。至少侧壁和肩部之一包括若干一般是垂直的肋,它们均匀地环绕着瓶子的圆周隔开,各基本垂直肋具有一上端和一下端,至少有成组的肋的上端和下端之一终止在容器的同一高度上。该术语“基本垂直”所指的是包括任一条肋,而该肋沿着瓶子轴向方向上的长度大于其圆周方向上的长度,至少周向间隔的肋的上端和下端之一与一组肋段连在一起,而该肋段形成一条环绕着瓶子圆周的线条,并给予瓶子一种侧壁厚度有实质变化的外观,从而出现模拟的沟槽或其它的类似雕刻的表面特征。
若干基本垂直的肋中的每一条肋包括一在横截面上的、位于距瓶子轴线第一半径处的中间部分,以及一对基本上是对称的、朝向位于距瓶子轴线第二半径处的瓶子表面的侧面部分。较佳的是,第一半径略大于第二半径,以便形成一条突出的肋。虽然在具有向外弯曲表面或圆筒形表面的瓶子上使用凹进的肋,可形成令人满意的瓶子,但在向内弯曲的表面上使用凹进的肋会在瓶子受压时出现变形。这种变形会损坏或破坏本发明所寻求的光线效果,并可能带来爆裂问题。
较佳的是,若干基本垂直肋中的每一条肋在位于瓶子所在表面上的宽度约为2到4倍的肋高,也即是说,肋的宽度为距瓶子轴线的所述第一和第二半径之间的差的2到4倍,各基本垂直的肋的各基本对称的侧面部分包括在横截面上的一弯曲表面部分,它具有小于或等于所述第一和第二半径之差的半径,弯曲表面部分的半径约是侧壁厚度的150%到200%,这对于即使瓶子内部受到压力仍能使所述的肋保持清楚轮廓来说,壁厚是足够小的。
本发明的一个特征是,瓶子的侧壁部分通常对称于瓶子轴线,使肋给予瓶子的侧壁厚度一个有实质变化的外表,从而,只构成偏离轴向对称的实质变化。在侧壁厚度上的具有实质变化的外表是通过利用一组肋段而获得的,它们形成一条环绕着瓶子圆周的线条,并与垂直肋的相同端连接。较佳的是,诸肋段形成一条环绕着瓶子圆周的成扇形的线条,以提供具有复合的雕刻表面的假象。肋段包括至少一条弯曲侧边,以加强雕刻表面的假象。厚度和形状的不同的假象可通过设置一些弓形来获得,这些弓形可向不同方向弯曲或被弄平以形成有照明效果的线条。

图1表示一按照本发明制取的一塑料瓶的立体图。瓶子10包括底部12,它具有支脚结构。图4所示的较佳的底部包括五个向下延伸的支脚42,它们由在侧壁14下边界16和轴线Y下端之间延伸的弓形部分44隔开。作为参考的较佳支脚结构公布在1993年6月16提出的、流水号为08/077,856的待审批美国专利申请中,但其它结构(不管是有支脚的或所谓的香槟酒瓶式样)也可用来作为按照本发明的瓶子的底部。
瓶子10还包括侧壁部分14,它从与底部12连接的下边界16延伸到与肩部20连接的上边界18。肩部20从侧壁的上边界18向恰好位于收口部24下面的颈部22延伸,而收口部24可用来安放瓶盖26。
侧壁部分14最好包括一标签板28,其上可设置一标示瓶子内含有液体产品名称和容量的合适的标牌。标签板具有几乎与侧壁的上边界18重合的上边界,以及一下边界30,两条边界分别由一组首尾相连的肋段32所限定,并形成两条在标签板28上下边界处的、环绕着瓶子圆周的线条。如图2和7所特别清楚表示的,环形延伸的肋段32包括至少一个弧形侧边,这样形成的、限定着标签板上下边界的线呈扇形,而不是直线形。
在图2中,各肋段32的两条侧边是同样地、在肋段的全部长度上向同一个方向拱起。在图7A中,肋段32的侧边包括具有直线中间部分31和弯曲端部33的弄平的弓形。在图7B中,肋段32的下侧边35是一如图7A所示的弄平约弓形,但其上侧边37构成一向上的反向弓形。在图7C中,上侧边37仍是如图7B所示的向上的反向弓形,但其下侧边35是类似于图2的一条弓形。最后,在图7D中,上侧边37是一条如图7A所示的弄平的弓形,而下侧边35基本上是一条直线。包括至少一条弯曲侧边的其它结构也是可以的,且受到这种容器的设计者的赏识。
侧壁14的下部和肩部20也分别包括一组在圆周方向上间隔的肋34和36。肋34的上端在标签板的下边界30处与肋段32连接,而在瓶子肩部20上的肋36的下端与在边界18处的肋段32连接。肋34的下端在靠近侧壁的下边界16处终止,它们不象肋34的上端那样地连在一起。同样地,在肩部20上的肋36的上端恰在颈部22下面终止,而不象肋36的下端那样地连在一起。肋34、36和肋段32组合后的效果是,形成一看上去有不同厚度的、并有一组沟槽的瓶子。最好将垂直沟槽理解为仅仅是可获得的雕刻外表的一个例子,使用按照本申请的肋36和肋段32也可获得其它的具有雕刻表面的特征。
如图3所清楚显示的,出现在垂直肋36之间的瓶子部分38只是以瓶子的对称轴Y为中心的环形区域。也就是说,在肋36之间的部分38不向外凸出以形成一真正的沟槽或者是其它的凸起表面征状。相反地,在肋36之间的区域38与肋段32一起具有向外凸出的假象,从而形成一在标签板28之上的,具有模拟的雕刻表面的肩部。同样,在容器的肋34之间的部分40也是对称地环绕着垂直轴线Y的环形区域。
垂直肋34和36具有如图5A所示的,在横截面上由一组曲线所限定的外部结构。肋34和36从距轴线Y的半径为R所限定的侧壁或肩部向外延伸,它们的高度H一般在沿肋的长度方向上是恒定的。通常肋的高度H约是肋的宽度的25%到50%。肋34和36的外表面显示出有一宽度约等于高度H的平面中央部分46。一对通常是朝向瓶子表面的对称的侧面部分48系由距瓶子轴线Y为R的半径所限定的。所示的侧面部分由一对相交的圆弧所形成,圆弧则由半径50和52所限定。肋的总宽度约是3或4倍的肋高度。
肋在横截面上的实际形状如图5B所示,它的外表面类似于图5A中所示的,形成肋的材料(部分)的壁厚如横截面图所显示。即使这种瓶子里的碳酸饮料在正常施加的压力之下,形成肋的角偶部54的定半径50也可防止肋的“不完整”(消除),这样,瓶子本身仍保留着需要的表面特征,即给予瓶子一个模似的雕刻表面,该雕刻表面具有给予瓶子不同壁厚的外观,而这种不同厚度实际上是不存在的。
图6A表示一典型的肋段32的外表面,该肋段32用于形成环绕着瓶子的圆周线18和30。肋段32的基底与肋34和36一样位于距容器轴线Y为R的半径处。肋的最高点在较大半径R+△处,其中△约是肋宽度的25%到50%。在一个具有平均半径R约6或7cm的典型的容器里,高度△约在0.5和2mm之间。肋段的外表面由三个大小相同的半径56,58和60所示的首尾相连的圆弧所形成。通过肋段32的瓶子侧壁的实际的横截面如图6B所示。形成瓶子的材料(部件)的厚度最好在约0.25mm和0.5mm之间,这个厚度即使当容器10处于碳酸饮料施加的压力下也足以保持绝大多数肋段的形状。
虽然结合例示性的较佳的实施例详细地描述了本发明,但是在下面权利要求书所述的和限定的本发明的范围和构思内还存在着其它的变化和改变。

Claims (17)

1.一种具有雕刻外表的塑料瓶,包括一在一下部垫托物上支承该瓶子的底部,一具有均匀厚度、从与底部相连的下边界向上边界延伸的侧壁部分,一从侧壁部分的上边界向颈部延伸的肩部,以及一与颈部相连的和用来容纳一瓶盖的收口部,其特征在于,
至少侧壁和肩部之一包括诸垂直的、环绕着瓶子的圆周均匀间隔的肋,各垂直肋具有一上端和一下端,至少有成组的肋的上端和下端之一终止在容器的同一高度上,至少肋的上端和下端之一与一组肋段连在一起,该肋段形成一条环绕着瓶子圆周的线条,并给予瓶子一种侧壁厚度有实质变化的外表。
2.如权利要求1所述的塑料瓶,其特征在于,该瓶子是对称于垂直轴线的,且底部包括诸向下凸出的支脚,各支脚具有与下部垫托物接触的最低部分,各支脚通过一弓形部分与在圆周上的相邻支脚隔开,并使下边界与该瓶子的垂直轴线相连接。
3.如权利要求1或2所述的塑料瓶,其特征在于,侧壁部分包括一具有上边缘和下边缘的圆筒形表面,至少上边缘和下边缘之一由所述的一组肋段限定,肋段形成一条环绕着瓶子圆周的线条,并给予瓶子一种侧壁厚度有实质变化的外表。
4.如权利要求3所述的塑料瓶,其特征在于,肩部包括一组环绕瓶子肩部的圆周、且均匀地隔开的垂直肋,肋的下端与一组弧形肋段连在一起,该肋段形成一条限定所述侧壁部分的所述圆筒形表面的上边缘的成扇形的线条。
5.如权利要求4所述的塑料瓶,其特征在于,侧壁部分还包括另一组环绕瓶子所述侧壁部分圆周、且均匀地间隔的垂直肋,肋的上端与另外一组弧形肋段连在一起,该肋段形成另外一条限定所述侧壁部分的所述圆筒形表面的下边缘的成扇形的线条。
