用于测量聚合物分子量的最常用技术是高压液相色谱法(HPLC)的变体,其通过可互换的术语尺寸排阻色谱法(SEC)和凝胶渗透色谱法(GPC)而已知。该技术涉及迫使聚合物溶液在高达几百巴的压力下通过填充到柱中的交联聚合物颗粒的固定基质。与大分子量物类相反,较低分子量物类更容易进入柱填充材料中的空隙。因此,低分子量物类在这些空隙中花费更多时间,导致其在柱内的保留时间增加。另一方面,较大分子量物类在这些空隙中费时少(如果有的话)并且更快地从柱中洗脱。因此,可以以这种方式分离具有显著不同分子量的聚合物分子。所有柱具有可分离的聚合物分子量特定范围。低多分散性聚合物标准物的使用使得填充柱被校准且柱保留时间与聚合物分子量相关联。
到目前为止,用于尺寸排阻色谱法的最常见的检测器是差示折射率检测器,其测量由于聚合物类的存在而作为时间的函数的溶剂折射率变化。一种这样的检测器由德国柏林的Knauer Wissenschafliche Gerate GmbH制造,其制造RefractoMax品牌的差示折射率检测器。该检测器对浓度敏感且对分子量不敏感,因此对于单一检测器GPC系统是理想的,可生成分子量曲线。
聚碳酸酯在本发明的板材中以片材或薄膜的形式使用。合适的聚碳酸酯片材可以以MAKROFOL商标获得,其也是来自Covestro LLC。本发明的板材的一个特征是使用非常薄或超薄的聚碳酸酯片材。聚碳酸酯片材的厚度优选为10至40密耳(0.010英寸至0.040英寸,或0.25mm至1mm),最优选20至30密耳(0.020英寸至0.030英寸,或0.50mm至0.76mm)。
尽管超薄聚碳酸酯片材是已知的,但迄今为止它们的使用受限于没有预计冲击的应用,例如图形艺术应用或汽车仪表板组件。这是因为已知超薄聚碳酸酯片材与较厚的片材相比对于冲击和破损没有那么强健。在预计有冲击的应用中,如在汽车外部部件中,使用具有远更高厚度的聚碳酸酯。
已经发现,只有超薄聚碳酸酯片材,如厚度为30密耳(0.030英寸和0.76mm)的聚碳酸酯片材达到ASTM E84-03试验(建筑材料表面燃烧特性的标准测试方法)的A级。该方法被认为与UL 723、ANSI / NFPA No.255和UBC No.8-1相当。为了满足ASTM E-84 A级,材料必须具有25或更低的火焰蔓延和450或更低的烟雾发展指数两者。该试验包括测量火焰蔓延和烟雾发展指数。各种聚碳酸酯厚度的可燃性试验结果如下:

如上表1中所示,厚度为30密耳的聚碳酸酯片材具有小于25的火焰蔓延和小于450的烟雾发展指数两者,因此是上述测试的满足ASTM E-84 A级要求的唯一片材。
然而,为了克服薄聚碳酸酯片材强度不足的缺点,可以以两种不同的方式赋予片材强度。首先,可以在聚碳酸酯片材后面使用金属支撑件,例如金属丝网筛、线网、细金属条或棒,其可以是或可以不是格子结构。此外,该实施方案具有附加的好处,即保护安全拘留室中的囚犯免受金属上的擦伤或割伤或免于接近金属而伤害自己或他人。
赋予聚碳酸酯片材强度的另一种方法是使用框架来固定片材,其中框架优选地具有压靠着聚碳酸酯片材两个面的金属,并且具有足够的覆咬(咬边),以使得当与单独的片材相比时金属框架能够增加强度。在该实施方案中,框架覆咬(咬边)应该与聚碳酸酯片材重叠,以使得框架覆咬(咬边)充分地接合(engage)聚碳酸酯片材以避免聚碳酸酯片材从框架上撕下,或者在一个优选的实施方案中,所有框架覆咬(咬边)都接合聚碳酸酯片材,以使框架能够提供足够的冲击支撑。这种框架概念还允许容易地更换单个损坏的板材,而不是更换整个壁。
此外,所述框架优选地足够靠近聚碳酸酯片材上的所有点,以为其提供足够的强度,以承受住来自重物或试图穿透它的人的冲击。在该实施方案中,聚碳酸酯片材上的大多数点距离框架不超过4个框架宽度。例如,如果框架宽度为1 1/2英寸(3.8厘米),则聚碳酸酯片材上的点的大部分(其不是框架下方的覆咬(咬边)的部分)应当距离框架不超过6英寸(15.2厘米)。在一个优选的实施方案中,聚碳酸酯片材的所有点在框架的四倍框架宽度内。
如图1中所示,在一个实施方案中,板材包括框架10,其与聚碳酸酯片材11连接。显示了板材的安全面,其对于安全隔离室中的囚犯是可接近的。因此,不能从这一面接近螺栓。框架10具有宽度14。距离15是宽度14的四倍,并且是从框架的最近边缘测量的。聚碳酸酯片材11上的大多数点位于距离15内,而一些点可能位于距离15之外。图2是从图1的板材的拘留室外部的后视图。在该视图中,可以看到螺栓12。螺栓12装配穿过框架10,并穿过聚碳酸酯片材11中的孔。
图3显示了包括另一实施方案的若干板材的安全室壁,其中每个板材包括框架20、聚碳酸酯片材21和金属支撑件22。门23也显示为包括具有框架24、聚碳酸酯片材25和金属支撑件26的板材。布置板材,并将其彼此连接,以形成基本上透明的壁,以使得看守可以在不打开门23的情况下随时观察室内的内容物。
图4显示了一种将聚碳酸酯片材32连接到具有金属支撑件31的现有安全室壁30上的方法。聚碳酸酯片材32装配在框架33内,并通过螺栓36固定就位,螺栓36装配穿过框架34和聚碳酸酯片材32中的孔。镶边(trim)34装配在框架33周围,以防止安全拘留室的居住者能接近螺栓36。任选的密封剂35优选是粘附到聚碳酸酯片材32、框架33和镶边34上且与聚碳酸酯片材呈化学相容的聚合物。一种这样的密封剂是Dow Corning 995,硅酮结构密封剂,其由密歇根州Midland的Dow Corning Company制造。Dow Corning 995 具有以下益处:高拉伸和撕裂强度;长期保持柔性;耐气候、紫外辐射和温度极限;粘附到玻璃和用于防飓风或冲击的门窗的大多数窗框材料上;以及当固化时与聚碳酸酯片材呈化学相容。
图5显示了另一种将聚碳酸酯片材42连接到具有金属支撑件41的现有安全室壁40上的方法。聚碳酸酯片材42装配在框架43内,并由聚合物罩47保持在适当位置,聚合物罩47可预先粘合到聚碳酸酯片材42上。聚合物罩47可以由聚碳酸酯或容易粘合到聚碳酸酯片材42上的另一种聚合物制成。镶边44装配在框架43周围。密封剂45优选是粘附到聚碳酸酯片材42、框架43和镶边44上的聚合物。
图6显示了安全室壁50的安全面(该室的居住者面),其由包括板材51的多个板材构成,板材51包括框架52、聚碳酸酯片材53和金属支撑件54。聚碳酸酯片材53还包括一个或多个孔55,空气可以通过该孔55进出安全室壁50,以帮助供应和循环穿过拘留室的通风。还应注意,将板材固定到室壁上的螺栓不容易被拘留室居住者接近。
图7显示了图6的安全室壁50的未固定面(或看守面)。图7还显示了板材51,其包括框架52、聚碳酸酯片材53、金属支撑件54、孔55和螺栓56。
总结了本发明的以下优选实施方案:

- 聚碳酸酯片材;和
- 框架;
其中聚碳酸酯片材具有0.25 mm至1 mm的厚度,和
其中聚碳酸酯片材固定到框架上。
第6项.如前述各项中任一项所述的板材,其中聚碳酸酯片材具有0.50mm至0.75mm的厚度。
第7项.如前述各项中任一项所述的板材,其中聚碳酸酯片材的点的大部分位于距框架的如下距离处,该距离不大于框架宽度的4倍。
第8项.如第7项所述的板材,其中聚碳酸酯片材的所有点位于距框架的如下距离处,该距离不大于框架宽度的4倍。
第9项.如前述各项中任一项所述的板材,其中聚碳酸酯片材具有25000至36000g/mol的分子量。
第10项.如第9项所述的板材,其中聚碳酸酯片材具有28000至34000 g/mol的分子量。
第11项.如第9项所述的板材,其中聚碳酸酯片材具有30000至32000 g/mol的分子量。
第12项.如第4至11项所述的板材,其中聚碳酸酯片材具有两个面,并且框架包括两个板,它们压靠着所述聚碳酸酯片材的两个面中的每一个。
第13项.如第12项所述的板材,其中所述板包含金属。
第14项.如第12或13项所述的板材,其中聚碳酸酯片材的一部分保持在框架的大部分内。
第15项.如第14项所述的板材,其中聚碳酸酯片材的一部分完全保持在框架内。

Claims (16)

1.板材,其包括:
- 聚碳酸酯片材;和
- 金属支撑件;
其中聚碳酸酯片材具有0.25 mm至1 mm的厚度。
2.如权利要求1所述的板材,其中所述金属支撑件是金属丝网筛、线网、格子结构的细金属条或棒。
3.如权利要求1或2所述的板材,其中所述金属支撑件定位成在聚碳酸酯片材受到冲击的情况下为聚碳酸酯片材提供支撑。
4.如权利要求1至3所述的板材,其进一步包括框架,其中所述聚碳酸酯片材固定到所述框架上。
5.板材,其包括:
- 聚碳酸酯片材;和
- 框架;
其中所述聚碳酸酯片材具有0.25 mm至1 mm的厚度,和
其中所述聚碳酸酯片材固定到框架上。
6.如前述权利要求中任一项所述的板材,其中所述聚碳酸酯片材具有0.50mm至0.75mm的厚度。
7.如前述权利要求中任一项所述的板材,其中所述聚碳酸酯片材的点的大部分位于距框架的如下距离处,该距离不大于框架宽度的4倍。
