Abstract

技术领域
本发明涉及可利用电产生的热量来产生气溶胶(例如,通常被称为电子香烟的吸烟制品)的气溶胶递送装置,例如个人蒸气吸入单元、汽化器或吸烟制品。吸烟制品或汽化器可以被配置为加热气溶胶前驱物(例如掺入甘油和尼古丁的制剂)以形成用于吸入的气溶胶。本公开涉及用于使用保持或容纳气溶胶前驱物的可折叠囊状物或可破裂胶囊的系统和方法。特别感兴趣的是由烟草制造或衍生的产品,或者以其他方式包含烟草并且旨在用于人类消费的产品。
背景技术
多年来已经提出许多烟装置,作为对要求燃烧烟草以供使用的烟产品的改进或替代。据称,那些装置中的许多装置已经被设计成提供与抽香烟、雪茄或烟斗相关联的感觉,但是没有递送由烟草的燃烧产生的大量不完全燃烧和热解的产物。为此,已经提出利用电能来汽化或加热挥发性材料或试图在没有将烟草燃烧至显著程度的情况下提供抽香烟、雪茄或烟斗的感觉的众多烟产品、气味产生器以及医用吸入器。参见例如在以下各案中描述的背景技术中陈述的各种替代烟制品、气溶胶递送装置以及热产生源:授予Robinson等人的美国专利7,726,320,Griffith Jr。等人的美国专利申请No.2013/0255702,Sears等人的美国专利申请2014/0096781,通过引用将其并入本文。还可参见例如在Bless等人的美国专利申请号2015/0216232中的商标名称和商业来源所引用的各种类型的吸烟制品、气溶胶递送装置和电动力发热源,其通过引用并入本文。另外,在Collins等人的美国专利5,505,214、Voges的5,894,841、Shayan的6,772,756及Hon的美国专利2006/0196518、Hon的2007/0267031、Novak III等人的2014/0261495和Talon的2015/0230521美国专利中提出了其它类型的吸烟制品,通过引用将其并入本文。
期望提供能够以一致且令人愉快的方式以气化物质的形式提供气溶胶的气溶胶递送装置(诸如通常称为电子烟的气溶胶递送吸烟系统)。因此,期望提供一种气溶胶递送装置,其具有帮助调节可用于气化的气溶胶前驱物的量并因此控制可用于汽化和气溶胶形成以吸入的气溶胶前驱物的量的组件或特征。
发明内容
本公开涉及气溶胶递送装置,形成这种装置的方法以及这种装置的元件。气溶胶递送装置可以提供气溶胶前驱物的更一致的分布。当气溶胶前驱物(即液体或电子液体)的量一致时,吸烟(即雾化)体验对用户来说可能是最令人满意的。一致性可以通过控制汽化液体的量来实现。然而,汽化的液体量可能随着设备中液体的体积变化而变化。盒中的液体储存器可能由于压力或温度变化而导致泄漏,这导致液体汽化的量的控制不一致。使用柔性囊状物或胶囊可以帮助调节和控制液体的流动。
在一个实施例中,用于气溶胶递送装置的盒组件包括储存气溶胶前驱物的柔性囊状物和保持柔性囊状物的支撑管。该组件在支撑管的一端包括塞子,该塞子密封柔性囊状物以控制泄漏,只允许气溶胶前驱物通过的塞子的多孔部分。
在另一个实施例中,电子烟包括电池部分和从电池部分接收电力并存储汽化液体的盒。该盒包括保持液体的柔性囊状物,支撑柔性囊状物的管和密封柔性囊状物的帽,其中帽包括用于从囊状物输送液体的多孔材料。
在另一个实施例中,汽化装置包括用于接收含有蒸汽的空气的接口管和储存液体并且在液体被移除时通过坍缩而减少过量空气的软液体囊状物。该装置包括支撑软液体囊状物的支撑柱体体和设置在支撑柱体体的一端并与软液体囊状物连接以泄漏受控量的液体的多孔材料帽。该装置还包括雾化器,该雾化器从存储在柔软液体囊状物中的液体产生蒸气。
在另一个实施方案中,气溶胶递送装置包括一个或多个含有气溶胶前驱物的胶囊。一机构释放气溶胶前驱物。该机构可导致胶囊破裂或发热。气化器在释放后接收气溶胶前驱物,并通过使气溶胶前驱物汽化产生气溶胶。

如下文所述,本公开的示例性实施方式涉及气溶胶递送系统。如本文所用,气溶胶递送系统可包括使用电能加热材料以形成可吸入物质的电子烟(“e-Cig”)或个人气化单元(“PVU”)。与普通香烟不同,由这些装置产生的副产品不是烟,而是由其中掺入的某些成分的挥发或汽化产生的气溶胶或蒸气。在一些示例性实施方式中,气溶胶递送系统的组件可以被表征为电子香烟,并且那些电子香烟最优选地包含烟草和/或源自烟草的组分,并且因此递送气雾形式的烟草衍生组分。
某些优选的气溶胶递送系统的气溶胶产生件可以通过点燃和燃烧烟草(并且因此吸入烟草烟雾)提供抽吸香烟、雪茄或烟斗的许多感觉(例如吸入和呼气仪式,口味或味道的类型,感官效果,身体感觉,使用仪式,视觉线索,例如可见气溶胶等等),而其任何组分没有任何实质程度的燃烧。例如,本公开的气溶胶产生部件的使用者可以像吸烟者使用传统类型的吸烟物品一样保持和使用该部件,在该部件的一端标示用于吸入由该部件产生的气溶胶,以选定的时间间隔抽吸或抽吸等。

本公开的气溶胶递送装置通常包括设置在可以被称为外壳的外部主体或外壳内的多个部件。外部主体或外壳的总体设计可以变化,并且可以限定气溶胶递送装置的总体尺寸和形状的外部主体的形式或构造可以变化。对于一些气溶胶递送装置,类似香烟或雪茄形状的细长主体可以由单一的整体外壳形成,或者细长外壳可以由两个或更多个可分离主体形成。例如,气溶胶递送装置可以包括细长的外壳或主体,该外壳或主体可以是大致管状的,并且因此类似于常规香烟或雪茄的形状。在一个实施方式中,气溶胶递送装置的所有部件都包含在单个壳体内。或者,气溶胶递送装置可包括两个或更多个接合并可分离的壳体。例如,气溶胶递送装置可以在一端具有控制主体,该控制主体包括包含一个或多个可再用部件(例如,可再充电电池和用于控制该物品的操作的各种电子器件)的壳体,并且在另一端并且可拆卸地附接到其中包含含有一种或多种气溶胶前驱物组分如香料和气溶胶形成剂的部分的外部主体或外壳。在各种实施方式中,该部分可以是一次性部分(例如,一次性盒)或可再填充部分(例如,可再填充罐)。
本申请的实施例包括具有柔性囊状物的非刚性罐,用于均衡压力并减少泄漏。与更坚硬的储罐相比,柔性囊状物能够将空气排出储罐或容器。如果容器中有空气,可以避免加热/冷却或增加/减少压力(可由空气体积膨胀引起),因为囊状物可自由膨胀或收缩。刚性容器可能在刚性容器内部和外部之间经历压力差,迫使液体和/或空气出来,或者在均衡时吸入空气。即使当囊状物中的液体被移除时,柔性囊状物也可以防止空气进入。袋子可处于收缩或放气状态。使用灵活的囊状物,盒可以是一次性的。
本公开的气溶胶递送装置可以由外部壳体或外壳形成,该壳体不是基本上管状的,而是可以形成为明显更大的尺寸。壳体或外壳可以被构造成包括嘴部和/或可以被构造成接收可以包括可消耗元件(例如液体气溶胶形成器)并且可以包括汽化器的单独壳体(例如盒、罐)。
本公开的气溶胶递送系统最优选地包括动力源(即,电源)、至少一个控制部件(例如,用于致动、控制、调节和停止用于产生热量的装置的电力,例如通过控制从电源到其他部件(例如微处理器,单独地或作为微控制器的一部分)的电流流动)、加热器或发热构件(例如电阻加热元件或其他部件,其单独或与一种或多种其他元件组合可以通常称为“雾化器”)、气溶胶前驱物组合物(例如通常为在施加足够的热量时能够产生气溶胶的液体,例如通常称为作为“烟汁”,“电子液体”和“电子汁”)以及用于允许在气溶胶递送装置上抽吸气溶胶的嘴端区域或尖端(例如,通过制品的限定的气流路径,使得产生的气溶胶可以在抽吸时从其中抽出)。
根据下文提供的进一步公开内容,本公开的气溶胶递送系统内的组件的更具体的形式、构造和布置将是显而易见的。另外,在考虑可商购的电子气雾输送装置(例如本公开的背景技术部分中引用的那些代表性产品)时,可以理解各种气雾输送系统部件的选择和布置。
图1示出了两件式组装实施方式的气溶胶递送装置。在示例性的两件式组件中,存在远端(远端组件)和近端(近端组件)。远端组件可以被称为控制主体并且可以包括电池和微处理器。近端组件可以被称为罐并且可以包括盒(具有液体存储器)和雾化器。尽管未示出,但是远端组件通过连接界面与近端组件接合,使得来自诸如电池或电容器之类的电源的能量可以被传递至近端组件。根据本公开内容可以使用的电池的例子在Peckerar等人的美国专利申请No.2010/0028766中描述,其公开内容通过引用整体并入本文。
气溶胶递送装置可以包含传感器或检测器,用于在期望气溶胶产生时(例如,在使用期间抽吸时)控制对加热器的电力供应。这样,例如,提供了一种当在使用期间不抽吸气溶胶递送装置时关闭对加热器的电力供应并且在抽吸期间打开电源以由加热器致动或触发加热的方式或方法。其它代表性类型的感测或检测机构、结构及其配置、部件以及操作的一般方法在Sprinkel,Jr。的美国专利No.5,261,424、McCafferty等人的美国专利No.5,372,148和Flick的PCT申请WO2010/003480中描述,其全部内容通过引用整体并入本文。
远端组件可以包括容纳电池或电容器的主体、一个或多个微处理器、装置远端的LED或光。远端组件或电池部分可以包括多个电子部件,并且在一些示例中可以由支撑并电连接电子部件的电子或印刷电路板(PCB)形成。电子组件可以包括微处理器或处理器核心和存储器。在一些示例中,控制组件可以包括具有集成处理器核心和存储器的微控制器,并且其还可以包括一个或多个集成输入/输出外围设备。在一些示例中,控制组件可以耦合到通信接口以实现与一个或多个网络、计算设备或其他适当使能的设备的无线通信。合适的通信接口的例子公开于Marion等人2015年3月4日递交的美国临时专利申请No.14/638,562,其内容通过引用整体并入。Ampolim等人2014年7月10日提交的美国临时专利No.14/327,776和Henry,Jr。等人2015年1月29日提交的美国临时专利No.14/609,032公开了气溶胶递送装置可以被配置为无线通信的合适方式的例子,其各自通过引用整体并入本文。
远端组件可以与近端组件上的盒连接器连接。近端组件可以包括雾化器壳体,雾化器壳体容纳次级芯和加热元件。雾化器壳体可以包括用于集成微处理器、电源和加热元件的连接。雾化器壳体还可以包括与要被汽化的液体接触的芯元件。待汽化的液体可以储存在液体储存器中。雾化器壳体和液体储存器可以设置在腔室壳体中,腔室壳体也用作PVU的吸嘴。
在一些示例实施方式中,近端组件或盒可被称为是一次性的或可重复使用的。在另一个示例中,近端组件可以具有可更换电池或可再充电电池,并且因此可以与任何类型的再充电技术组合,包括连接到典型交流电插座,连接到汽车充电器(即,点烟器插座)以及与计算机的连接,例如通过通用串行总线(USB)电缆或连接器。近端组件可以包括具有可再填存储器的罐。该储存器可构造成保持气溶胶前驱物组合物(例如液体)。特别地,储存器可以由多孔材料(例如纤维材料)制成的芯形成或与其联接。如下面关于图2-5所描述的,盒可以包括用于存储液体物质的囊状物。
图2示出了用于包括囊状物部分的气溶胶递送装置的盒200。盒200可以包括外部管或吸口202和用于支撑液体容器囊状物206的囊状物支撑柱体204。液体容器囊状物206可以是包含液体208或作为气溶胶的前驱物质的电子液体的存储器。气溶胶前驱物组合物可保留在囊状物206中。例如,液体组分可被囊状物206保留。囊状物206可通过塞210液体连接。塞210可盖住囊状物206以保持液体208。塞210可以是硅树脂或陶瓷材料,但也可以使用其他材料,例如CA。所示的装置由具有硅酮外壳的陶瓷中心芯构成,该外壳将周边密封以免泄漏,因为陶瓷将使液体迁移到芯214上。

在使用中,当使用者抽吸气溶胶递送装置时,通过流量传感器(未示出)检测气流,并且激活加热器214以气化气溶胶前驱物组合物的组分。借助气溶胶递送装置的嘴部件202引起环境空气进入进气口,并且所吸入的空气与所形成的蒸气结合以形成气溶胶。将气溶胶搅动、吸出或以其他方式从囊状物支撑柱体204周围的加热器中抽出并从气溶胶递送装置的嘴部件202中的开口排出。
如所描述的,囊状物206用作待汽化物质的储存器。该物质可以是液体(即e-液体)或其他液体,并且可以被称为气溶胶前驱物组合物或蒸气前驱物组合物。液体可以包含多种组分,包括例如多元醇(例如甘油,丙二醇或其混合物)、尼古丁、烟草、烟草提取物和/或食用香料。在Robinson等人的美国专利No.7,217,320、Zheng等人的美国专利2013/0008457、Chong等人的专利2013/0213417和Collett等人的专利2014/0060554中阐述和表征了代表性类型的气溶胶前驱物组分和制剂,其公开内容通过引用并入本文。可以采用的其他气溶胶前驱物,包括R.J.Reynolds Vapor Company的产品、LonllardTechnologies的BLUTM产品,Mistic Ecigs的MISTIC MENTHOL产品和CN Creative Ltd的VYPE产品的气溶胶前驱物。对于可从Johnson Creek Enterprises LLC获得的电子香烟的所谓“烟汁”也是期望的。其他代表性类型的液体在Sensabaugh,Jr等人的美国专利No.4,793,365美国专利、Jakob等人的美国专利No.5,101,839、Biggs等人的美国专利No.6,779,531、Lipowicz等人的美国专利No.2013/0008457和Koller的专利2015/0020830以及Bowen等人的WO 2014/182736以及R.J.Reynolds Tobacco Company关于加热而不是燃烧烟草的新型卷烟原型的化学和生物学研究的专著(1988),所有这些均并入本文作为参考。
结合在气溶胶输送系统内的液体的量使得气溶胶产生件提供可接受的感官和期望的性能特征。例如,可以优选使用足够量的液体(例如甘油和/或丙二醇)以便产生可见的主流气溶胶,该气溶胶在很多方面类似于烟草烟雾的外观。气溶胶生成系统内的液体量可以取决于诸如每个气溶胶产生件所需的抽吸次数等因素。典型地,结合在气溶胶输送系统内,特别是气溶胶产生件内的液体的量小于约2g,通常小于约1.5g,经常小于约1g并且经常小于约0.5g。柔性囊状物206(和支撑部件)可以在不同的实施例中被重新调整尺寸以获得最佳量的液体。
图3示出了用于气溶胶递送装置中的盒的液体容器。图3中的液体容器可以类似于图2中所示的液体容器。特别地,柔性囊状物302可以与图2中所示的囊状物206相同或相似。同样,帽部分306可以是与图2中所示的帽210相同或相似。最后,管304可以是图2中所示的外管202或囊状物支撑柱体204。
柔性囊状物302可以是柔性袋或类似材料。在一个实施例中,囊状物302可以是乳胶材料或薄塑料。囊状物302的柔性可以允许压力变化或温度变化,否则将会破坏密封罐(即非柔性容器),例如泄漏。特别地,柔性囊状物302可以平衡存储器外部的压力和存储器的内部压力。囊状物302可以适应和调节任何压力变化。
囊状物302的密封可以是帽306内的多孔膜。换句话说,帽306可以在囊状物的开口端上形成弹性密封。管304可以是开放式的以允许囊状物302的膨胀/收缩。帽306可以被称为塞或密封件,并且提供用于控制和产生从囊状物302到加热元件的液体流动的装置。陶瓷可以用于帽306,因为它可以是足够多孔的以允许轻质液体与加热元件一起流向芯。特别地,二氧化硅芯可以与帽306中的陶瓷(或其它多孔材料)接触,该帽306接收被输送到或者靠近加热元件的液体。除了陶瓷之外的其他材料可以与帽306一起使用,其允许液体从囊状物302流出。例如,醋酸纤维素或多孔塑料可以用于帽306。帽306可以被包裹在硅胶套中,防止除了从帽306的多孔材料通过的期望量之外的泄漏。
图4示出处于关闭状态的图3的液体容器。具体而言,图4示出了联接到管404以密封囊状物402的帽406。囊状物402的密封防止了液体的泄漏,但帽406仍然允许液体通过多孔材料408从囊状物中流动。多孔材料408可以包括陶瓷、塑料或其他多孔材料,其从囊状物402中流出液体。液体可以保持在囊状物中,并且气流(关于图5描述的使用者吸入的)可以触发液体从囊状物302流动。下面参照图6-15进一步讨论囊状物的密封。图4示出了囊状物402的柔性特性。具体地说,当从囊状物402分配液体时囊状物402可能塌陷。囊状物402的塌陷部分403由于液体被除去而囊状物未得到充满。囊状物402的塌陷可用于在装置内保持平衡的压力。通过防止可能由压力差引起的潜在泄漏,这种压力缓解可以导致通过多孔材料408分配的更一致和可控制的液体量。
图5示出了盒中的空气流动。设备中可能有外部空气通过其进入的空气入口。芯506可以包括使吸收到芯上的液体汽化的加热元件(例如线圈)。气流可以通过芯506和加热元件上方或附近,然后在外部管504和囊状物502之间通过。外部管504可以是上面讨论的外部管304并且囊状物502可以是囊状物302。在一个实施例中,囊状物502外部的空气路径可以位于外部管504和囊状物支撑柱体508之间。囊状物支撑柱体508可以用于支撑囊状物502并且由帽密封,而外部管504导致囊状物支撑柱体508与外管504之间的空气路径。如上所述,空气流动可以通过使用者在装置上抽吸(吸入)而产生,这导致抽吸效应,其将空气拉动通过空气入口。
图6示出了用于气溶胶递送装置的盒中的密封囊状物。可以使用帽或密封件来密封囊状物以防止泄漏,但是允许液体在装置使用时流动。如本文所使用的,术语帽或密封件可以指包括图6中所示的帽606和多孔材料608的多个部件。这些元件可以是分开的或可以组合为单个帽/密封件。帽606可以包括多孔材料608,其允许存储在囊状物602中的液体流动。囊状物602设置在用于支撑的外管604内。用硅树脂密封件610将囊状物密封到外管604。硅树脂密封件610防止液体泄漏,使得液体只能流过盖606和多孔材料608。尽管在该实施例中被描述为硅树脂,密封件610可由可填充囊状物连接之间的间隙的替代材料形成,以防止液体流到多孔材料608外。图7进一步示出了硅树脂密封件610。
图7示出了用于密封盒中的囊状物的密封机构的一个实施例。硅树脂密封件610可以包括脊702,用于引起囊状物602和外管604之间的压缩或摩擦配合。压缩配合使得柔性囊状物602被压靠到外管604以防止液体泄漏。在替代实施例中,可以使用其他密封件(除压缩配合外),包括螺钉机构、紧固机构或粘合机构。所使用的密封被设计成防止来自柔性囊状物602的液体泄漏到外管604的外侧。液体只能穿过帽606和多孔材料608。因为囊状物602是柔性的,它可能需要密封以防止这种泄漏。在一个实施例中,囊状物602和密封机构被设计成可以被替换的一次性或可抛的盒。
图8示出了具有改进的空气路径的盒的实施例。如所讨论的,囊状物周围的气流可包括囊状物支撑柱体和外管之间的间隙。图8示出了改进的空气路径802,其包括囊状物支撑柱体和外管之间的附加间隔。通过收缩连接器,可以存在可用于其他部件(例如超声)的唇部804。
图9示出了具有改进的空气路径的图8中的盒的一端的实施例。特别地,从盒的一端示出改进的空气路径902。改进的空气路径902可以包括允许增加空气流量的开口。该改进的空气路径902可以是在囊状物和/或外管外部且在气溶胶装置的外壳体内的管。
图10示出了具有阀连接的盒。内部囊状物可以保持在外部容器(例如外管或柱体支撑件)内。可能存在具有弹性阀的密封板,该密封板与多孔材料(例如多孔陶瓷)连接,以在装置使用期间输送液体。阀可以起到保持液体的作用,除非其被激活并且允许液体渗入多孔陶瓷,使加热元件与芯接触用于汽化过程。

图12示出了图10中所示的弹性阀的打开状态。图10中所示的弹性阀当朝向囊状物向上按压时可处于闭合状态。弹性阀处于压下状态1202,其中阀已经通过移位打开。在一个实施例中,使用者可施加压下阀的压力,如参考图13所示和所述。
图13示出了另一弹性阀。用户可以物理地按压压入阀中的部分1302(例如按钮)。当弹性体部分移位时,阀上的压力产生开放的液体路径。处于松弛位置的弹性体将密封开口。阀门的开启可以通过移位而不是压力。在一个实施例中,密封/关闭状态可以在制造时以及当使用者将盒添加到气溶胶递送装置时,将盒按压到装置中可以引起激活阀并形成液体路径所需的压力。该激活可以是一次性激活(即,当安装墨盒时)或者在每次使用之前可能需要激活。对于一次性盒,柔性囊状物可保持在密封/关闭状态(无泄漏),直到盒被安装。
图14示出了盒的密封状态。特别地,中心柱塞可以激活弹性阀的释放或打开。此外,图14示出了处于关闭状态的流路。盒可以包括关于图10-13所示和所述的弹性阀。液体流动可能在密封状态下被完全阻塞。在制造之后并且在使用之前,盒可以处于密封状态。在第一次使用时,用户可以压下阀以触发图15所示的打开状态。图15示出了打开的流动路径。在阀门被压下时产生打开状态,打开了从囊状物通过陶瓷材料的液体流动路径。中心柱塞可以激活弹性阀的开口。打开状态可以被称为激活状态。
在替代实施例中,弹性阀可以用另一部件替换。例如,可能存在其他部件,例如膜,其将囊状物密封在关闭状态,但是一旦激活就提供来自囊状物的液体流动。激活可以包括电子激活(例如按下按钮)或物理激活(例如,用户按下装置的末端以接触或移动膜)。
在替代实施例中,储存气溶胶前驱物或用于气溶胶形成的液体的储存器可以具有至少一个胶囊的形式或者具有胶囊型的形式和配置。也就是说,气溶胶前驱物可以适合于具有以便分离或以其他方式为该气溶胶前驱物产生物理分离的形式。典型的胶囊型构造包括气溶胶前驱物组分的内部区域或核心,充当壁或阻隔结构以限定内部区域的形状和体积的外部区域或外壳,以及包含或包封气溶胶前驱物的包覆,从而以这样的方式存储或定位气溶胶前驱物,使得气溶胶前驱物与气溶胶递送装置的其中包含该胶囊的其他组分物理分离。如果需要,可以将稀释剂材料与气溶胶前驱物一起并入胶囊的内部区域内。代表性的稀释剂在Dube等人的美国专利No.8,695,609和Hartman等人的专利2014/0053855中描述,其中每一篇均通过引用并入本文。优选地,每个胶囊被封闭或密封,使得气溶胶前驱物在所需的使用条件之前不会从胶囊泄漏或不能从胶囊取出。
最优选地,代表性的胶囊使得外壳或壁具有足够的弹性和完整性以在正常条件或存储和处理期间保持内部部件的封装;但在正常使用条件下可被打开以释放封装的内部组件。例如,胶囊可以由壳体材料构成以便具有刚性的外部,或者胶囊可以具有柔性的整体一致性。胶囊的外壁或外壳材料可以是以下材料中的任何一种:蛋白质、多糖、淀粉、蜡、脂肪、天然和合成聚合物以及树脂。用于壳的示例性材料可以包括明胶、阿拉伯胶、聚乙酸乙烯酯、海藻酸钾、角豆胶、柠檬酸钾、角叉菜胶、聚偏磷酸钾、柠檬酸、三聚磷酸钾、糊精、聚乙烯醇、聚维酮、二甲基聚硅氧烷、二甲基硅油、精制石蜡、乙基纤维素、漂白虫胶、改性食品淀粉、海藻酸钠、瓜尔胶、羧甲基纤维素钠、羟丙基纤维素、柠檬酸钠、羟丙基甲基纤维素、亚铁氰化钠、多磷酸钠、刺槐豆胶、甲基纤维素、三偏磷酸钠、纤维素、三聚磷酸钠、微晶蜡、鞣酸、石油蜡、萜烯树脂、黄蓍胶、聚乙烯、黄原胶和聚乙二醇。如果需要,胶囊可以在外部区域上涂覆外部屏障或密封层,并具有涂层或防潮层。Hartman等人的美国专利申请No.2014/0053855进一步描述了胶囊材料并且通过引用结合于此。
胶囊被打开或激活以释放封装的内容物。通常,激活通过胶囊的破碎、压碎或熔化来进行;并且这种激活最优选由气溶胶递送装置的使用者初始化。例如,用户可以按下按钮来提供胶囊的压碎,或者激活可以进一步在胶囊上激活化学或物理作用的电子信号。另外,吸入(即,当流量传感器被触发时)可能导致胶囊的物理破碎或者产生热量以降低胶囊壁的物理完整性,并且因此释放胶囊的内部封装的内容物。激活可以由用户初始化。例如,用户可以按下按钮或吸入(即,当流量传感器被触发时)来激活胶囊。初始化可以包括使胶囊分解的化学反应,使胶囊分解的加热或破坏胶囊的一些其他电信号。
最优选地,胶囊被定位在气溶胶递送装置内,使得其在需要时可以被破坏,并且使得胶囊的内容物可以用于气溶胶产生或者用于增强由气溶胶递送装置产生的气溶胶。因此,优选地从胶囊释放的内容物位于气溶胶递送装置的芯吸组件或电阻加热元件附近(例如,胶囊可以与在使用条件期间产生热量或表现出升高的温度的气溶胶递送装置的组件接触或充分靠近)。因此,包括气溶胶前驱物组分的胶囊的内容物可经受用于气溶胶形成而产生的热量,并因此可被汽化用于气溶胶形成。
