Description
技术领域
本发明属于射频识别(RFID)装置的领域,更具体地说,涉及一种RFID阅读器装置可读的RFID应答器标签。所述标签容纳在机械坚固和导电的标签壳体中并且与所述标签壳体电连接,所述标签壳体被成形和配置成还限定用于所述应答器标签的射频天线。
背景技术
RFID标签是用作启动RFID阅读器的识别令牌或密钥的装置,并且通常由与射频天线连接的射频应答器模块组成。所述天线可以是线圈或者可以由一个或多个印刷电路回路组成。为了更耐用,通常将应答器模块和天线封装在塑料中,诸如在塑料卡中。现有的由塑料封装的RFID标签虽然在正常的办公室、工业和住宅应用中操作门道、电梯和车库门时是耐用的,但在某些可能会受到更大程度的滥用、撞击和机械磨损的应用中,例如在军事应用中诸如戴在士兵身上的个人标签,这样的标签是不够坚固的。因此需要有更适于恶劣环境的更坚固的RFID标签。
发明内容
本发明提供了一种加固的RFID标签,其具有金属标签壳体和RFID应答器电路,所述金属标签壳体切有细缝或被开槽以限定诸如半圈天线的射频天线,而所述RFID应答器电路在所述标签壳体中可操作地与所述天线连接。可设置天线匹配电路将所述应答器电路与所述天线可操作地互连。所述标签壳体可由钢、铝或其它机械强度高并且至少部分地导电的材料,包括金属、金属合金或非金属材料或者材料,金属和非金属材料的组合制成。
在一个实施例中,金属标签壳体包括两个彼此机械和电连接的壳体部分并且在所述两个壳体部分之间容纳所述RFID应答器。例如,所述金属壳体部分都是被开槽的以限定所述天线,并且可以通过将沿所述壳体部分的边缘压接在一起而使所述金属壳体部分机械和电连接。可以在每个槽中设置电绝缘材料,诸如环氧树脂来封闭所述槽以防止异物进入所述标签壳体。

具体实施方式
图1至图5示出了根据本发明的加固的RFID标签30。图1示出形成RFID标签30的电气电路的框图,包括通过天线匹配电路34和天线连接器58与射频天线36连接的RFID应答器电路32。
图2示出了加固的RFID标签30的主要物理组件的分解关系。标签30具有标签壳体40,所述标签壳体由顶部壳体部分42和底部壳体部分44这两个壳体部分组成。在所示的实施例中,两个壳体部分42、44是平板,两个壳体部分的其中之一具有在板的边缘附近延伸的凸缘46。
电绝缘隔板48容纳在壳体部分42、44之间并且在凸缘46之内。隔板48支撑RFID应答器模块50,所述RFID应答器模块包括RFID应答器电路32和天线匹配电路34。
为了本申请的目的,在本发明优选的实施例中,底部和顶部壳体部分42、44都是金属的,例如钢、铝或任何其它机械强度高的金属或具有足够导电性的合金。绝缘隔板48可以是丙烯腈-丁二烯-苯乙烯(ABS)、聚氯乙烯(PVC)、尼龙、陶瓷或任何电和机械稳定的电绝缘体。
如图3所示,应答器模块50具有基片52,电气电子组件安装在所述基片上,它们一起构成RFID应答器电路32和天线匹配电路34。应答器电路32为一个集成电路芯片54,而天线匹配电路34则由匹配电路组件56组成,所述匹配电路组件通常是表面安装电容。天线匹配电路34的输出最终与一对安装在基片52上的弹性连接器58连接。可以通过在基片52上的导电迹线(trace)或通过其它合适的装置来进行这些连接。
每个顶部和底部壳体部分42、44均切有细缝以限定射频天线36。在图示的实施例中,壳体部分以部分地沿所述壳体部分的纵向尺寸延伸的中心槽60的形式切有细缝并且在每个壳体部分的一端开口以在每个壳体部分42、44上划分和限定两个相等的耳垂状件(lobe)62来形成天线36。
图4和图5示出了标签30的组装状态,图中示出了顶部和底部壳体部分42、44彼此电和机械连接,例如,通过将底部壳体部分的凸缘46机械压接在顶部壳体部分44上。由图4的箭头指引的压接68建立了沿壳体部分42、44的已压接在一起的边缘延伸的电连接,并且还在两个壳体部分之间形成高强度的机械接合。也可以使用其它方法机械接合和电连接壳体部分42、44,其中包括诸如焊接或软焊等等。顶部和底部壳体部分42、44与相应的槽60,即与位于标签壳体40的同一端上的槽60的开口端60a彼此重叠对齐,使得堆叠的槽60电气延伸通过组装的标签壳体的厚度,而两个电连接的被开槽的壳体部分42、44,即所述标签壳体,则作为单一射频天线36。槽60限定半圈射频天线36,通过天线匹配电路34驱动所述半圈射频天线,使得标签壳体40也成为用于容纳在所述壳体中的RFID应答器32的天线36。因此,标签壳体40具有双重功能,即机械容纳和保护RFID应答器32以及在RFID应答器32和合适的RFID标签阅读器单元之间接收和辐射RFID射频信号。
在标签30的组装状态中,隔板48位于底部壳体部分42之上和凸缘46之内。通过合适的方式,诸如胶粘剂将基片52固定到隔板40。顶部壳体部分42位于隔板48之上和底部壳体部分44的凸缘46之内。最好如在图5所示,两个壳体42、44与在两者之间的间隔件48组装形成一个三层的堆叠。在组装状态中,顶部壳体部分44的内表面64向下压在两个弹性连接器50上,使得每个连接器50在天线匹配电路34的一个输出侧与由顶部壳体部分42限定的天线的相应耳垂状件62之间建立电连接。弹性连接器50可以是市售的在该领域中公知的硅酮弹性连接器。
在组装的标签30中,可取的是在大多数应用中用不导电但耐用的材料,诸如环氧树脂填充槽60,来密封标签30的内部以防止湿气和异物进入。或者,凸脊可以与隔板48形成整体,使得凸脊与所述槽成一直线并且当顶部和底部壳体部分42、44与在它们之间的隔板48堆叠时填充所述槽,从而封闭所述槽以防止异物进入。在本发明的一种形式中,如果标签30待悬挂并戴在标签使用者的身体上,则可设置穿过壳体40的孔70以使颈链、手镯、钥匙链或类似物通过。
在一个实施例中,标签壳体40的尺寸可以是0.5英寸宽或更宽,1.0英寸长或更长,和0.1英寸厚。在其它实施例中,所述标签壳体的宽度可以在0.3英寸和2英寸之间,长度在0.5英寸和3英寸之间以及厚度在0.05和0.25英寸之间。然而,也可以发现适用于某些应用的尺寸更大的标签,而标签的尺寸甚至例如是上述尺寸的两倍或三倍。
本发明的加固标签30适用于在RFID射频为13.56MHz时操作的RFID模块和电路。然而,通过适当调节天线匹配电路34和天线36的配置,所述标签也可适用于在其它频率操作。天线匹配电路34的设计和构建在RFID领域中是熟知的,并不需要在本文作更详细的解释。
在至少一个壳体部分的一部分是导电的条件下,壳体部分42、44可以是由金属以外的材料制成,以便限定在相关的RFID频率操作的射频天线。例如,可以考虑的是,底部壳体部分44可以由机械强度高但非导电的材料,诸如坚硬的陶瓷制成,并且只有顶部壳体部分是金属和切有细缝、被开槽的或为其它形状以限定天线。天线36可以采取在附图中示出的半圈天线以外的其它形式,并通过将标签壳体适当切缝、开槽、切割或成形,可以在标签壳体40中、在标签壳体40上或由标签壳体40限定具有一个或两个圈的天线或螺旋天线。还可以考虑的是,两个壳体部分都可以由非导电但机械坚固的材料诸如坚硬的陶瓷制成,并且将金属或其它导电层放置或施加在一个或两个壳体部分的内部和/或外部上以便限定天线36。
除硅酮弹性连接器之外,还可以使用其它方法和装置实行在所述射频应答器输出和所述天线之间的电连接或代替所述硅酮弹性连接器。例如,在其它的可能性中,可以使用导电的环氧树脂来达到这目的。
在图示的实施例中,除了沿壳体部分44的边缘的唇缘46之外,壳体部分42、44都是平坦的或平面,所述壳体部分通常为带圆角的矩形以形成薄平标签组件,所述薄平标签组件可以例如,悬挂在颈链上并且佩戴舒适。然而,本发明的加固标签30并不限于附图所示的壳体部分42、44的特定形状和结构。
为了清楚和举例的目的,虽然已对本发明的特定实施例进行了描述和说明,应当理解的是,在不脱离以下权利要求所限定的本发明的范围的前提下,许多变化,替换和修改对于本领域的普通技术人员将会是显而易见的。
Claims (7)
1.一种射频识别(RFID)标签,其包括被开槽以限定半圈天线的金属标签壳体以及在所述标签壳体中可操作地与所述天线连接的RFID应答器。
2.根据权利要求1所述的标签,其特征在于,所述金属标签壳体包括两个彼此机械和电连接的金属壳体部分并且在所述两个金属壳体部分之间容纳所述应答器。
3.根据权利要求2所述的标签,其特征在于,所述金属壳体部分都是被开槽的。
4.根据权利要求2所述的标签,其特征在于,所述金属壳体部分彼此机械压接。
5.一种射频识别(RFID)标签,其包括:
至少部分由导电材料制成的标签壳体,所述标签壳体被成形和配置成限定与所述壳体成一整体的射频天线;
容纳在所述标签壳体中的RFID应答器电路;以及
用于将所述应答器与所述天线可操作地互连的匹配电路。
6.根据权利要求5所述的标签,其特征在于,所述标签壳体包括彼此机械和电连接的顶部和底部壳体部分以及在每个所述部分中切割的用于限定所述射频天线的槽。
7.如权利要求6所述的标签,其特征在于,所述标签还包括在所述槽中的电绝缘材料,所述电绝缘材料用于封闭所述槽以防止异物进入所述标签壳体。
