背景技术

转让给Metrologic Instruments公司的US专利第7540424B2号和US公开第2008/0283611A1号描述了高性能的基于数字成像的POS条形码符号读取器,其采用平面照明和数字线性成像技术,以及区域照明及成像技术。

发明内容

图1A至1D示出了本公开内容的基于混合激光扫描/数字成像(即扫描/成像)的条形码符号读取系统1的说明性实施例,其支持三种不同的操作模式,即:(仅)激光扫描操作模式,在图1B中示出;移动/便携式数字成像操作模式,在图1D示出;和混合扫描/成像操作模式,在图1A和1C中示出。下面,现在将以很多技术细节来描述本公开内容的混合扫描/成像系统1及其各种操作模式。

如图1B中所示,对接口288形成在系统外壳的上外壳部中,并且具有与滑动到该对接口288中的可手持数字成像模块200的几何形状紧密匹配的几何形状。如所示出的,该数字成像模块200在其可手持外壳的下部分上具有数据/功率/控制接口294。如图2中所示,该数据/功率/控制接口294适配为接合并建立与安装在该对接口288的内部的匹配的数据/功率/控制接口285的电气连接。

如图1C中所示,当数字成像模块200被对接到其对接口288中时,该数字成像模块在其移动成像模式下所支持的可见目标射束270可以被抑制(即,通过在该对接口内提供的数据/功率/控制接口电路被禁止。同时,数字成像模块200内的自动对象检测子系统220将被启用,因此该数字成像模块自动生成其基于IR的检测射束232并且将基于IR的检测射束232投射离开FOV折叠式反射镜以及到竖直扫描窗口3A之外,准备自动检测正呈递给该竖直扫描窗口的对象,并且因此激活该数字成像模块200以捕获和处理所呈递产品的数字图像,以及所呈递产品的表面上所支持的任何条形码符号。
如图1C中所示,在混合扫描/成像操作模式期间,该数字成像模块的FOV在空间上覆盖该系统的3D扫描体积的一部分。然而,在替换实施例中,该数字成像FOV不需要在空间上覆盖该3D扫描体积,而简单地填充该竖直扫描窗口和3D扫描体积的边缘部分之间的空间区域。这样,当操作者朝着竖直扫描窗口呈递条形编码的产品通过3D扫描体积时,将确保了“确保拍摄(sure-shot)”条形码读取操作,即使当读取最难以读取的条形码符号时也是如此。

图像捕获和缓冲子系统225的主要功能是(1)由该系统的图像形成光学器件234检测聚焦到2D图像检测阵列235上的整个2D图像,(2)为所捕获的图像帧的所选择的感兴趣区域,或者为整个检测的图像生成数字像素数据帧,然后(3)在捕获到每个图像数据帧时对其进行缓冲。
特别是,在该说明性实施例中,该系统具有单拍摄和视频成像模式。在单拍摄模式下,在每个图像捕获和处理周期内,或者在处理周期的特定阶段期间捕获单个2D图像帧(31)。在视频成像模式下,该系统持续地捕获该FOV中的对象的数字图像帧。这些模式在通过引用全部结合于此的US专利公开第2008/0314985A1号中进一步详细地说明了。
数字图像处理子系统226的主要功能是在照明和操作模式期间处理由图像捕获和缓冲子系统225已经捕获并缓冲的数字图像。这样的图像处理操作包括基于图像的条形码解码方法,如在通过引用结合于此的US专利第7128266号中描述的。
输入/输出子系统227的主要功能是支持与主机系统9和其他外部装置的通用的、标准的和/或专有的数据通信接口,并且通过这样的通信接口把经处理的图像数据等输出给主机系统9和/或装置。这样的接口的示例和用于实现其的技术在通过引用结合于此的US专利第6619549号中给出。
系统控制子系统230的主要功能是当操作在图1D中所示的其移动数字成像操作模式下时,把某预定程度的控制、协调和/或管理信令服务提供给集成在该系统内的每个子系统部件。而且,当数字成像模块200对接在对接口288中并且与数据/功率/控制接口285接口连接时,如图2中所示,系统控制子系统230将在主控制子系统37的控制下起到从控制器的作用。虽然在本公开内容的优选实施例中,可以由经编程的微处理器来实现此子系统,但是此子系统可以通过在通过引用结合于此的US专利第7,128,266号中所描述的微计算平台上所支持的三层软件架构来实现。
与外壳集成的可手动激励的触发开关205的主要功能是在图1D中所示的移动数字成像期间使得用户能够在手动压下它(即引起触发事件)时生成控制激活信号(即触发事件信号),并且能够把此控制激活信号提供给系统控制子系统230以供在执行本文详细地描述的其复杂系统和子系统控制操作时使用。
系统存储器中的系统配置参数(SCP)表229A的主要功能是为可用特征和功能中的每一个存储(在非易失/永久存储器中)一组系统配置和控制参数(即SCP)和所支持的可编程系统操作模式,并且其可以在系统控制子系统230的复杂操作期间根据需要被自动读取和使用。特别地,可以如在通过引用结合于此的共同待决的US公开第2008/0314985A1号中非常详细地教导的那样对这样的SCP进行动态地管理。
图4描述了当把图1A至3的混合扫描/成像码符号读取系统配置为图1A和1C中所支持的示出的其混合扫描/成像操作模式时所执行的主要步骤。
如在块A处所指示的,在销售点(POS)站,提供了双光学激光扫描和数字成像条形码符号读取系统。该双光学系统支持对接口(“接受器”),其用于接纳手持式数字成像模块并在双光学系统和其数字成像模块之间建立数据、功率和控制接口。在该POS处,该双光学激光扫描系统和数字成像模块共同提供了双光学混合扫描/成像系统。
如在块B处所指示的,手持式数字成像器被插入到该对接口内,以在双光学混合系统和该手持式数字成像模块之间建立数据、功率和控制接口。
如在块C处所指示的,该手持式数字成像模块自动检测其到该对接口中的插入,去激活其可手动激励的触发机制和可见目标射束子系统,以及激活其自动对象存在检测子系统。
如块D处所指示的,该双光学混合系统自动检测数字成像模块到对接口中的插入,并且配置为其混合扫描/成像操作模式。
图5A和5B描述了在说明性实施例的双光学混合扫描/成像码符号读取系统内的系统控制器在其混合扫描/成像操作模式期间所支持的控制过程。
如在图5A中的块A处所指示的,对该系统进行初始化(即,重置参数,并且该系统处于睡眠模式)。
如块B,系统控制器确定安装在竖直或水平外壳系统中的IR唤醒检测器是否检测到操作者。如果在块B没有检测到唤醒事件,则该系统保持在块B处直到唤醒事件发生为止。当唤醒事件发生时,该系统控制器进行到块B1,在该处系统控制器确定在该FOV(例如,在极接近于竖直扫描窗口)内是否自动检测到对象(例如产品)。如果在该FOV中检测到了对象,则该系统控制器进行到图5B中的块G。如果在FOV中没有检测到对象,则该系统控制器进行到块C。
如在块C处所指示的,该系统重置计时器T1(唤醒计时器)和T2(激光扫描模式计时器)并且把激光扫描激活为操作,促使其多面体扫描元件旋转,跨该3D扫描体积生成和扫描激光扫描平面,收集并处理从定位于其中的对象离开的扫描数据,包括要读取的对象上的条形码符号。
在块D处,该系统控制器确定激光扫描子系统(15A和15B)是否在时间T2内读取到1D条形码符号。如果在块D处读取到1D条形码符号,则在块E处该系统控制器输出符号字符数据给主机系统。如果唤醒计时器(T1)在块F处尚未超时,则系统控制器返回到块D。如果唤醒计时器(T1)在块F处已经超时,则系统控制器返回到块B,如图5A中所示。
如果在块D处,该系统控制器确定该激光扫描子系统(15A和15B)在时间T2内未读取1D条形码符号,则在图5B中的块G处,系统控制器激活该数字成像子系统(即模块)200,并且如所示出的设置时间T3和T4。
在块H处,系统控制器确定该激光扫描子系统(15A、15B)和/或数字成像子系统200是否在时间T2内读取到1D条形码符号。如果是这样,则在块I处,系统控制器把符号字符数据输出给主机系统,然后在块J处确定是否已经经过了计时器T3。如果不是,则系统控制器返回到块H,如所示出的,以便有可能地读取其他1D条形码符号。
如果在块H处,系统控制器确定该激光扫描子系统(15A,15B)和/或数字成像子系统200不能在时间T2内读取1D条形码符号,则在块K处,系统控制器确定该数字成像子系统(即模块200)是否利用时限T4解码了2D条形码符号。如果是这样,则在块L处,该系统控制器把符号字符数据输出给主机系统,然后在块J处确定是否已经经过了计时器T4。如果该数字成像子系统未在时限T4内读取到2D条形码符号,则该系统控制器前进到块N,并且确定是否已经经过了该唤醒计时器T1。如果已经经过了计时器T1,则该系统控制器返回到块B,如图5A中所示。如果尚未经过计时器T1,则系统控制器返回到块C,重置计时器T1和T2,并且如所示出的仅激活该激光扫描子系统,并且沿着图5A中所示的控制回路继续进行。
想到的修改
已经把上面描述的控制过程作为在该混合系统正操作在其混合扫描/成像操作模式下时可以如何控制该激光扫描子系统和数字成像子系统的说明性示例来提供。对此控制过程的变体和修改对于受益于本公开内容的本领域技术人员而言是容易想到的。所有这样的修改和变体都被认为处于所附权利要求书的范围内。
Claims (11)
1.一种混合型双光学条形码符号读取系统,其支持混合激光扫描和数字成像操作模式,所述混合型双光学条形码符号读取系统包括:
具有竖直外壳部和水平外壳部的系统外壳,所述竖直外壳部具有竖直扫描窗口,所述水平外壳部具有水平扫描窗口;
设置在所述系统外壳中的激光扫描子系统,用于生成多个激光扫描平面并且把它们投射通过所述竖直和水平扫描窗口,其在所述竖直和水平扫描窗口之间限定的3D扫描体积内相交,并且在所述3D扫描体积内提供激光扫描图案,用于对所述3D扫描体积内的一个或多个对象进行扫描并产生扫描数据以进行解码处理;
扫描数据处理器,用于处理由所述激光扫描子系统产生的所述扫描数据以致力于读取经过所述3D扫描体积的每个对象上的条形码符号;
数字成像子系统,设置在所述系统外壳的所述竖直部内,用于通过所述竖直扫描窗口自动投射视场(FOV),并且捕获和处理存在于所述FOV中的对象的一个或多个数字图像;
数字图像处理器,用于处理由所述数字成像子系统产生的所述一个或多个数字图像以致力于读取经过所述FOV的每个对象上的条形码符号;和
系统控制器,用于在所述混合激光扫描和数字成像操作模式期间控制所述激光扫描子系统和所述数字成像子系统的操作。
2.如权利要求1所述的混合型双光学条形码符号读取系统,其中所述FOV聚焦在所述竖直扫描窗口稍前,邻近所述3D扫描体积。
3.如权利要求1所述的混合型双光学条形码符号读取系统,其还包括自动对象检测器,其自动地用于当使得所述对象在非常靠近所述竖直扫描窗口的地方时自动地在所述FOV中检测对象的存在,并且响应于在非常靠近所述竖直扫描窗口的地方检测到所述对象而生成所述触发信号。
4.如权利要求3所述的混合型双光学条形码符号读取系统,其中如果所述激光扫描子系统在第一预定时限内未成功读取条形码符号,则在所述激光扫描子系统收集并处理扫描数据以致力于读取所述3D扫描体积中的对象上的条形码符号时,所述系统控制器还激活使得能够实现捕获和处理数字图像的所述数字成像子系统以致力于读取所述3D扫描体积中的所述对象上的条形码符号。
5.如权利要求4所述的混合型双光学条形码符号读取系统,其中如果所述自动对象检测器在非常靠近所述竖直扫描窗口的地方检测到对象,则所述自动对象检测器自动触发所述数字成像子系统以对所述FOV中的所述对象进行照明,并且捕获和处理所述对象的一个或多个数字图像以致力于读取所述对象上的条形码符号。
6.如权利要求1所述的混合型双光学条形码符号读取系统,其中所述竖直外壳部包括一个或多个激光模式折叠式反射镜,并且在所述激光扫描模式折叠式反射镜中的一个被用来折叠和投射所述FOV至所述3D扫描体积中。
7.一种混合型双光学条形码符号读取系统,其支持混合激光扫描和数字成像操作模式,所述混合型双光学条形码符号读取系统包括:
具有竖直外壳部和水平外壳部的系统外壳,所述竖直外壳部具有竖直扫描窗口,所述水平外壳部具有水平扫描窗口;
设置在所述系统外壳中的激光扫描子系统,用于生成多个激光扫描平面并且把它们投射通过所述竖直和水平扫描窗口,其在所述竖直和水平扫描窗口之间限定的3D扫描体积内相交,并且在所述3D扫描体积内提供激光扫描图案,用于对所述3D扫描体积内的一个或多个对象进行扫描并产生扫描数据以进行解码处理;
扫描数据处理器,用于处理由所述激光扫描子系统产生的所述扫描数据以致力于读取经过所述3D扫描体积的每个对象上的条形码符号;
数字成像子系统,设置在所述系统外壳的所述竖直部内,用于通过所述竖直扫描窗口自动投射视场(FOV),并且捕获和处理存在于所述FOV中的对象的一个或多个数字图像;
数字图像处理器,用于处理由所述数字成像子系统产生的所述一个或多个数字图像以致力于读取经过所述FOV的每个对象上的条形码符号;和
系统控制器,用于在所述混合激光扫描和数字成像操作模式期间控制所述激光扫描子系统和所述数字成像子系统的操作;
其中所述数字成像子系统和所述数字图像处理器被实现为具有被提供有第一数据/功率/控制接口电路的模块外壳的数字成像模块;和
其中所述系统外壳包括用于接纳所述模块外壳并具有第二数据/功率/控制接口电路和接受器的对接口,使得在所述第一和第二数据/功率/控制接口电路之间建立接口。
8.如权利要求7所述的混合型双光学条形码符号读取系统,其中在所述数字成像模块对接在所述对接口内时,所述对接口内的所述数据/功率/控制接口电路支持数据通信、充电和控制操作。
9.如权利要求7所述的混合型双光学条形码符号读取系统,其中所述数字成像模块具有可手持外壳并且当操作者把所述数字成像模块从所述对接口移出时支持移动数字成像操作模式;以及其中,当所述数字成像模块从所述对接口移出并且握在所述操作者的手中时,所述FOV被聚焦为能够读取沿着所述数字成像模块的工作范围定位的条形码符号。
10.如权利要求9所述的混合型双光学条形码符号读取系统,其包括安装在所述系统外壳中的第一无线RF收发器,以及其中所述数字成像模块包括安装在所述可手持模块外壳内的第二无线RF收发器,用于在所述移动数字成像操作模式期间在所述第一无线RF收发器和所述第二无线RF收发器之间建立两路无线数据通信链路。
11.如权利要求7所述的混合型双光学条形码符号读取系统,其中所述对接口被提供在所述系统外壳的竖直外壳部中;其中当对接在所述对接口内时,所述数字成像模块同所述系统外壳的竖直部内支持的一组视场(FOV)折叠式反射镜合作,用于向外投射所述FOV到所述3D扫描体积中。
