Abstract

背景技术
如今,条形码符号和标签被用于不同的应用中。特别地,采用在电磁频谱的可见波段部分中是吸收性的墨水在反光基底(例如,纸)上印刷条形码标签。在这样的应用中,条形码符号读取器必须具有用于读取可见条形码符号的可见光源(例如,VLD或可见LED)。
然而,在许多安全型应用中(在分发访问和准入卡和票据的情况中),安全卡带有采用红外线墨水印刷的条形码符号,即,只反射电磁频谱的红外线波段部分中的光的墨水。在这种特定的应用中,条形码符号读取器必须具有用于读取这样的基于红外线的条形码符号的红外线(IR)光源(例如,IR-LD或IR-LED)。

窄波段传输型光学滤波器子系统40由以下部分实现(1)成像窗3内包含的高通(即,红波长反射)滤波器元件,以及(2)装配在或者CMOS区域型图像检测阵列35之前或者在超过高通滤波器元件之后的任何位置,包括被实现为在视场折叠反射镜74和75的至少之一上支撑的分色镜膜,如图2A和2B中所示。
如图2B中所示,选择性隔开的可见以及IR LED线性阵列 23A和23B,分别地,23B与成像窗3上边缘内包含或集成的照明聚焦透镜结构130对准。同样,PC板8上形成的光传输孔60与前壳部分2A中形成的成像窗3空间地对准。照明聚焦透镜结构130的功能是聚焦来自单个LED线性阵列23的照明,并且均匀地照明位于系统的视场的工作距离内的任何位置的对象。
如图2B中所示,包含结构133的光学上不透明的光射线被装配到PC板8的前表面,LED线性阵列23附近。包含结构133的光学上不透明光射线的功能是防止来自LED的光射线传输到除了照明聚焦透镜面板3的后输入表面之外的任何表面,照明聚焦透镜面板3在系统的视场的工作范围内均匀地照明系统的整个视场。当前后壳面板2B和2A结合在一起,且PC板8布置在其间时,照明聚焦透镜面板3坐落于在侧面板顶部表面中形成的倾斜的切口(cut-away)内,并且从LED线性阵列23A和23B产生的照明射线或者直接通过照明聚焦透镜面板3的后表面或者被结构133的黑色内表面吸收。
如图2A和2B中所示,光学部件支撑(OCS)组件78包括:用于将视场折叠反射镜74支撑在视场形成光学装置上方的第一倾斜面板,以及用于将第二视场折叠反射镜75支撑在光传输孔60上方的第二倾斜面板。采用这样的布置,图像形成和检测子系统21中使用的并且源自被支撑在PC板的后侧上的光学装置的视场在空间中被折叠两次,然后投射通过光传输孔并且从系统的成像窗射出。
自动曝光测量和照明控制子系统24执行两个主要功能:(1)实时测量由系统的光学装置在它的图像检测阵列35附近采集的光子能量(即,光)的功率密度[焦/厘米],并且生成指示好的图像形成和检测所要求的曝光量的自动曝光控制信号;以及(2)与由系统控制子系统30提供的照明阵列选择控制信号结合,以分别自动驱动并控制在多模式照明子系统22中使用的可见和不可见LED阵列23A和23B的输出功率,以便系统的视场内的对象最佳地暴露于基于或可见或不可见LED照明,如由系统控制子系统30所确定的那样,并且在图像检测阵列35处形成并检测最佳的图像。OCS组件78还包括用于支撑在自动曝光测量和照明控制子系统24中使用的抛物型光采集反射镜区段79的第三支撑面板。利用该反射镜78,窄光采集视场被投射到图像形成和检测子系统21的宽区域视场 33的中心部分,并且将所采集的光聚焦在光电检测器81上,其独立于区域型图像感测阵列而操作,通过附图标记35在图3中示意性地描述。
图像捕获和缓冲子系统25的主要功能是(1)检测由系统的图像形成光学装置34在2D图像检测阵列35上聚焦的整个2-D图像,(2)为捕获的图像帧的感兴趣选择区域或者为整个检测的图像,生成数字像素数据的帧,然后(3)当每个图像数据帧被捕获时,缓冲被捕获的每个图像数据帧。注意,在说明性的实施例中,系统既具有成像的单次拍摄模式又具有成像的视频模式。在单次拍摄模式中,在每个图像捕获和处理循环期间或者在处理循环的特殊阶段期间,捕获单个2D图像帧(31)。在成像的视频模式中,系统连续捕获视场中对象的数字图像帧。在美国专利申请公开No. US20080314985A1中进一步详细说明了这些模式,这里参考引用其全部内容。
数字图像处理子系统26的主要功能是在系统控制子系统30的控制下,由处理图像捕获和缓冲子系统25捕获和缓冲的的数字图像,以便采用成功的方式执行图4中描述的条形码符号读取方法。这样的图像处理操作包括基于图像的条形码解码方法的实践,如美国专利No.7,128,266中描述的,在这里参考引用其全部内容。
输入/输出子系统27的主要功能是支持与外部主机系统和设备的通用的、标准的和/或所有的数据通信接口,并且通过这样的接口将处理的图像数据等等输出到这样的外部主机系统或设备。美国专利No. 6,619,549以及6,619,549中给出了这样的接口的例子以及实现这样的接口的技术,这里结合引用其全部内容。
系统控制子系统30的主要功能是当执行图4描述的条形码符号读取方法时,向系统内集成的每个子系统部件提供一些预定程度的控制、协调和/或管理信令服务。当可以通过编程的微处理器实现该子系统时,在优选的实施例中,通过如美国专利No. 7,128,266描述的以及下文中其他处描述的微计算平台上支持的三层软件架构来实现该子系统。
外壳中集成的可手动激活触发开关5A的主要功能是在操作的手动触发模式期间使得用户能够在手动按压触发开关5A(即,引起触发事件)时生成控制激活信号(即,触发事件信号),并且向系统控制子系统30提供该控制激活信号,用于在执行这里详细描述的它的复杂系统和子系统控制操作中使用。
系统存储器中的系统配置参数表29的主要功能是为每个可用特征和功能以及支持系统操作的可编程模式存储(在非易失性/永久性存储器中)一组系统配置和控制参数(即,SCP),并且可以通过系统控制子系统30自动读取和使用该SCP,如它的复杂操作期间所要求的。注意,这样的SCP可以被动态管理,如共同未决的美国专利No. US20080314985A1中详细教导的那样,这里参考引用其全部内容。
通常,手可支持的数字成像系统1支持操作的手动触发和自动触发模式二者,并且可以使用这些触发技术的任意一个来实行下面描述的条形码符号读取方法。
图4中,流程图描述了由上述的图1,2A,2B和3中所示的基于数字成像的条形码符号读取器1执行的读取条形码符号的方法。
如图4中的框A所指示的,控制子系统30确定在视场内是否已经检测到对象。当系统以它的手动触发模式操作时,可以通过用户推动该手动推动触发开关5A来实现这个操作。当系统以它的自动触发操作模式操作时,可以通过对象检测子系统自动检测系统的视场内对象的存在来实现这个操作。在检测到对象的情况下,则在框B,系统控制子系统30使得图像形成和检测子系统能够使用由照明子系统22生成的基于可见LED的照明区来检测和捕获视场中对象的数字图像。在这个阶段,对象可能带有系统的视场内的可见条形码符号16A和/或不可见条形码符号16B。
在框C,控制子系统30对捕获的数字图像执行解码算法,并且在框D,如果数字图像中图形表示的条形码符号是可解码的,则在框E,条形码符号被解码并且符号字符数据从I/O子系统27被传输到主机系统。然而,在框D,如果数字图像中的条形码符号是不可解码的,则在框F控制子系统30确定是否已经达到了最大扫描尝试阈值,如果没有达到,则系统控制器返回框B,并继续所示的流程。然而,在框F,如果控制子系统30确定已经达到了该最大扫描尝试阈值,则控制子系统30进行到框G并且使用不可见(例如,IR)照明来捕获数字图像。
在图4的框H,在捕获的数字图像上执行一个或多个解码算法,并且在框I,系统控制器确定数字图像中的条形码符号是否被解码。在框I如果数字图像中的条形码符号被解码,则在框J解码条形码符号并且生成的符号字符数据被传输到主机系统,并且系统控制返回框A,如图4中所示。然而,在框I,如果没有条形码符号被解码,则控制子系统30确定是否已经达到或获得最大扫描尝试阈值(即,多少试图解码是允许的),并且只要已经达到了最大的数量,控制子系统30就维持框K和G之间的控制循环,如图4中所示。当在框K已经达到了试图解码的最大数量时,则系统控制器将解码失败通知发送到操作者,并且系统返回框B,如图4中所示。
在激光扫描条形码符号读取器1内,以自动的方式执行基于成像的条形码符号读取和控制操作的上述方法,对于将该系统握持在操作者手中的操作者来说,该系统对于他或她是完全透明的。利用该独特的控制方法,在数字图像捕获和处理操作期间,系统能够利用可见/不可见照明切换以用户透明的方式读取可见和不可见条形码符号二者,而没有现有技术和工艺所呈现的复杂性。
说明性实施例的手可支持的激光扫描条形码符号读取系统
如图5和6中所示,条形码符号读取器100包括:手可支持的外壳102;与该外壳102集成的光传输窗口103;手动启动触发开关104,用于激活条形码符号读取器100的具有激光扫描区(scanning field)的激光扫描模块105;基于IR的对象检测电路104′,用于当自动检测扫描区中的对象时自动触发系统;多模式激光扫描模块110,用于扫描或者(ⅰ)当模块110以它的可见照明操作模式而操作时,响应于由系统控制器150生成的第一控制信号由可见激光源112A生成的可见激光光束,或者(ⅱ)当模块以它的不可见/IR照明操作模式而操作时,响应于系统控制器150生成的第二控制信号由不可见(即,红外线或IR)源112B(例如,IR激光二极管或LD)生成的不可见激光光束,其中的操作模式依赖于当执行它的条形码符号读取操作方法时,系统控制器150执行的实时分析结果,如图7中详细说明的;其中,多模式激光扫描模块110还包括激光驱动电路151,用于从系统控制器150接收第一和第二控制信号,并且响应于该信号,生成第一和第二激光(二极管)驱动电流信号并将该信号分别传送到可见激光源112A和不可见/IR激光二极管源112B,以在图7描述的条形码符号读取方法期间可选地生成可见和不可见激光扫描光束;光采集光学装置106,用于采集从扫描区中被扫描对象反射/散射的光,以及光电检测器,用于在扫描操作期间,检测所采集光的强度并且生成与所述检测的光强度相应的模拟扫描数据信号;模拟扫描数据信号处理器/数字转换器107,用于处理模拟扫描数据信号并且将处理的模拟扫描数据信号转换为数字化数据信号;编程解码处理器108,用于解码处理数字化数据信号,并且生成表示由或可见或不可见激光扫描光束扫描的每个条形码符号的符号字符数据;输入/输出(I/O)通信接口模块140,用于与主机通信系统对接并且通过由符号读取器和主机系统支持的有线或无线通信链路向那里传输符号字符数据;以及系统控制器150,用于生成控制在手可支持的激光扫描条形码符号读取系统内的操作必需的控制信号。
如图6中所示,多模式激光扫描模块105包括多个子部件,即:具有电磁线圈128和支撑轻质反射元件的可旋转扫描元件134的激光扫描组件110;线圈驱动电路111,用于生成驱动激光扫描组件110中的电磁线圈128的电驱动信号;以及用于产生可见激光光束113A的可见激光光束源(可见VLD)112a,和不可见激光光束源(红外线或IR激光二极管LD)112B;以及光束偏转反射镜114,用于向激光扫描组件110的反射镜部件偏转来自或激光光束源112A或112B的激光光束113A(根据控制器150在时间上随时使能的那个光源),其使激光光束113C扫过它的扫描区以及一个或多个可见和/或不可见条形码符号16A,16B,在系统操作期间,该条形码符号可能同时存在于该扫描区中。
如图6中所示,多模式激光扫描模块105典型地被装配在光具座、印刷电路(PC)板或其他表面上,在该处,激光扫描组件还是并且包括线圈支撑部分110,用于支撑驱动电路111驱动的(永久磁铁134附近的)电磁线圈128,以便在扫描组件操作期间,它在永久磁铁134的异性极上生成磁力。
通常,系统100支持手动触发和自动触发操作模式二者,并且可以使用这些触发技术中的任一个来实行下面描述的条形码符号读取方法。
响应于上述触发操作模式中的任一个中的触发事件,激光扫描模块105生成并通过光传输窗投射激光扫描光束,并且经过手可支持的外壳外部的激光扫描区,用于扫描扫描区中的对象。响应由系统控制器150生成的控制信号,由或可见激光光束源112A或不可见(IR)激光光束源112B生成激光扫描光束。扫描元件(即,机构)134根据时间上随时的操作状态,重复地使可见激光光束或不可见激光光束扫描经过激光扫描区中的对象上存在的任何可见和/或不可见代码符号。然后,光采集光学装置106采集从扫描区中对象上的扫描的代码符号反射/散射的光,而光电检测器(106)自动检测所采集光的强度(即,光子能量)并生成与扫描操作期间检测的光强度相应的模拟扫描数据信号。模拟扫描数据信号处理器/数字转换器107处理该模拟扫描数据信号并将处理的模拟扫描数据信号转换成数字化的数据信号。编程解码处理器108解码处理数字化的数据信号,并生成表示由或可见或不可见激光扫描光束扫描的每个条形码符号的符号字符数据。与由解码器108读取的可见和/或不可见条形码相应的符号字符数据然后通过I/O通信接口140被传输到主机系统,该接口可以支持现有技术中公知的有线和/或无线通信链路。在对象检测和激光扫描操作期间,系统控制器150生成用于控制手可支持的激光扫描条形码符号读取系统内的操作必需的控制信号。
图7中,流程图描述了由图5和6中所示以及上述的基于激光扫描的条形码读取器100执行的读取条形码符号的方法。
如图7中的框A所示,系统控制器确定在视场内是否已经检测到对象。当系统以它的手动触发模式操作时,可以通过用户推动该手动推动触发开关5A来实现这个操作。当系统以它的自动触发操作模式操作时,可以通过对象检测子系统自动检测系统的视场内对象的存在来实现这个操作。
在框B,在检测到对象的情况下,用由VLD 112A生成的可见激光照明的光束来扫描该对象。
在框C,系统控制器150对捕获的扫描数据执行解码算法,并且在框D,如果条形码符号是可解码的,则在框E,解码条形码符号并将符号字符数据传输到主机系统。然而,在框D,如果条形码符号是不可解码的,则系统控制器150在框F确定是否已经达到了最大扫描尝试阈值,如果没有达到,则系统控制器150返回框B,并且继续所示的流程。然而,在框F,如果系统控制器150确定已经达到了最大扫描尝试阈值,则系统控制器150行进到框.G并且使用由IR VD 112B生成的不可见(例如,IR)激光照明光束来扫描对象。
在图7中的框H,对采集的扫描数据执行一个或多个解码算法,并且在框I,系统控制器150确定条形码符号是否被解码。在框I,如果条形码符号被解码,则在框J解码该条形码符号并且将产生的符号字符数据传输到主机系统,并且系统控制返回框A,如图7中所示。然而,在框I,如果没有条形码符号被解码,则系统控制器150确定是否已经达到了最大扫描尝试阈值(即,多少试图解码是允许的),并且只要还没达到最大的数量,系统控制器150就维持框K和G之间的控制循环,如图7中所示。当在框K已经达到试图解码的最大数量时,则系统控制器150向操作者发送解码失败通知,并且系统返回框B,如图7中所示。
在激光扫描条形码符号读取器100内,以自动的方式执行基于激光扫描的条形码符号读取和控制操作的上述方法,对于将该系统握持在操作者手中的操作者来说,该系统对于他或她是完全透明的。利用该独特的控制方法,在数字图像捕获和处理操作期间,系统能够利用可见/不可见照明切换以用户透明的方式读取可见和不可见条形码符号二者,而没有现有技术和工艺所呈现的复杂性。
容易想到的一些修改
虽然第一说明性实施例公开了使用2D图像检测阵列来检测可见和不可见条形码符号的数字图像,应当理解的是,也可以使用1D或线形图像检测阵列来产生1D数字图像,其被单独处理的,或者被顺序组合在一起以形成数字图像处理之前的2D数字图像。
同样,第二说明性实施例公开了使用1D激光扫描模块以检测对象上的可见和/或不可见条形码符号的扫描,应当理解的是,也可以使用2D或光栅型激光扫描模块来生成用于解码处理的扫描数据信号。
虽然说明性实施例公开了数据捕获和处理操作期间切换可见和不可见(即,红外线)照明源,以便以用户透明的方式读取对象上的可见和/或不可见代码符号,应当理解的是,可以以各种方式来执行这样的照明源切换操作,包括对于系统内的每个触发事件,在以下之间转换(ⅰ)用于预定数量的数据捕获(即,数字图像帧或扫描数据扫描)和处理操作(即,循环)的可见照明源,以及(ⅱ)用于预定数量的数据捕获和处理操作的不可见照明源。
同样,已经结合包括1-D和2-D条形码结构的各种类型的条形码符号读取应用描述了说明性实施例,应当理解的是,本实用新型可用于读取(即,识别)任何机器可读标记、数据记录表(dataform)或图形编码形式的信息(intelligence),包括但不限于条形码符号结构、字母字符识别串、笔迹,以及当前现有技术中公知的或将来被开发的不同数据记录表。下文中,术语“代码符号”将被认为包括所有这样的信息携带结构和其他形式的图形编码信息。
应当理解的是,可以用不同方式修改说明性实施例的基于数字成像的条形码符号读取系统,这对于具有这里公开的新颖教导的益处的本领域的技术人员将变得显而易见。其说明性实施例的所有这样的修改和变化将被认为落入所附权利要求的范围之内。
Claims (4)
1.一种数字成像代码符号读取系统,其特征在于包括:
具有光传输孔的外壳;
布置在所述外壳中的图像形成和检测子系统,具有图像形成光学装置,用于在对象照明和成像操作期间生成视场并将其投射通过所述光传输孔并到图像检测阵列上,该图像检测阵列用于检测支持一个或多个可见和/或可见代码符号的所述视场内的对象的一个或多个数字图像;
布置在所述外壳中的照明子系统,所述照明子系统包括:
(ⅰ)可见照明阵列,用于产生在所述视场内的可见照明区,并且照明在所述视场中检测的所述对象上的可见代码符号,以便所述照明从所述对象反射并通过所述光传输孔往回传输并到所述图像检测阵列上,以形成所述可见代码符号的所述数字图像,以及
(ⅱ)不可见照明阵列,用于产生在所述视场内的不可见照明区,并且照明在所述视场中检测的所述对象上的不可见代码符号,以便所述照明从所述对象反射并通过所述光传输孔往回传输并到所述图像检测阵列上,以形成所述不可见代码符号的所述数字图像;
布置在所述外壳中的图像捕获和缓冲子系统,用于捕获并缓冲由所述图像形成和检测子系统检测的可见和/或不可见代码符号的数字图像;
布置在所述外壳中的数字图像处理子系统,用于处理由所述图像捕获和缓冲子系统捕获并缓冲的可见和/或不可见代码符号的所述一个或多个数字图像,并且读取在所述数字图像中表示的可见和/或不可见条形码符号;
布置在所述外壳中的输入/输出子系统,用于将处理的图像数据输出到外部主机系统或其他信息接收或响应设备;以及
布置在所述外壳中的系统控制子系统,用于在对象照明和成像操作期间控制和/或调整所述数字成像代码符号读取系统内的所述子系统;
其中,所述照明子系统生成所述视场内的所述可见照明区,并且照明所述视场中检测的所述对象上的任何可见代码符号,以便所述可见照明从所述可见代码符号反射并通过所述光传输孔向回传输并到所述图像检测阵列上,以形成所述可见代码符号的所述数字图像,并且其后,由所述数字图像处理子系统解码处理所述数字图像,以便读取所述对象上的所述可见代码符号;以及
其中,在预定数量的照明、成像和处理尝试之后仍未读取所述可见代码符号的情况下,则所述照明子系统生成在所述视场内的所述不可见照明区,并且照明在所述视场中检测的所述对象上的任意不可见代码符号,以便所述不可见照明从所述不可见代码符号反射并通过所述光传输孔向回传输并且到所述图像检测阵列上,以形成所述不可见代码符号的所述数字图像,并且其后,由所述数字图像处理子系统解码处理所述数字图像,以便读取所述对象上的所述不可见代码符号。
2.根据权利要求1的数字成像代码符号读取系统,其特征在于,在预定数量的照明、成像和处理尝试之后仍未读取所述不可见代码符号的情况下,则所述照明子系统继续生成所述可见照明区,以便读取可见代码符号。
3.根据权利要求1的数字成像代码符号读取系统,其特征在于其进一步包括布置在所述外壳中的照明控制子系统,用于控制所述多模式照明子系统内的所述可见和不可见照明阵列的操作;并且其中所述可见照明阵列包括可见LED阵列,并且所述不可见照明阵列包括不可见LED阵列。
4.根据权利要求1的数字成像代码符号读取系统,其特征在于所述可见和/或不可见代码符号是从由1D条形码符号、2D条形码符号以及数据矩阵型代码符号组成的组中选择的符号。
