Abstract

自动手指指向触发操作模式;
具有光传输孔的壳体;
设置在所述壳体中的图像形成和检测子系统,其具有图像形成光学器件,用来在对象照明和成像操作期间,产生视场并将其投射通过所述光传输孔并且到区域型图像检测阵列上,所述区域型图像检测阵列用于检测存在于所述视场内的对象的2D数字图像;
设置在所述壳体中的照明子系统,其包括照明阵列,用来在所述视场内产生照明场,并且对在所述视场内检测到的所述对象进行照明,使得所述照明反射离开所述对象并且向回传输通过所述光传输孔并且到所述图像检测阵列上以形成所述对象的所述2D数字图像;
设置在所述壳体中的图像捕捉和缓冲子系统,用来捕捉和缓冲由所述图像形成和检测子系统检测到的2D数字图像;和

自动曝光测量和照明控制子系统24执行两个主要功能:(1)实时测量在关于其图像检测阵列35处由该系统的光学器件收集的光子能量(即光)的功率密度(焦耳/厘米),和生成指示良好图像形成和检测所需的曝光量的自动曝光控制信号;以及(2)与该系统控制子系统30所提供的照明阵列选择控制信号结合地,来自动驱动和控制照明子系统22中的LED阵列23的输出功率,使得该系统的FOV内的对象被最佳地暴露给基于LED的照明,并且在图像检测阵列35处形成和检测到最佳图像。该OCS组件78还包括用于支持在自动曝光测量和照明控制子系统24中采用的抛物线集光镜段79的第三支持面板。使用此反射镜78,窄光收集FOV被投射出到该图像形成和检测子系统21的宽区域FOV 33的中央部分中,并且将收集的光聚焦到光检测器81上,其独立于在图3中由附图标记35示意性地描绘的区域型图像感测阵列而操作。
图像捕捉和缓冲子系统25的主要功能是(1)通过该系统的图像形成光学器件34检测聚焦到2D图像检测阵列35上的整个2D图像,(2)或者针对所捕捉图像帧的所选感兴趣区域,或者针对整个所检测图像生成数字像素数据帧,然后(3)缓冲如它捕捉的每个图像数据帧。特别地,在说明性实施例中,该系统支持单次激发和视频成像模式这二者。在单次激发模式下,在每个图像捕捉和处理周期期间或者在处理周期的特定阶段期间捕捉单个2D图像帧(31)。在视频成像模式下,其被用来支持图5A至5C中所图示的新颖手指指向触发模式,该系统在该FOV内持续捕捉对象的数字图像帧,以便对其进行随后处理。在美国专利公开号US20080314985 A1中更加详细地规定了这些模式,该美国专利公 开号US20080314985 A1通过引用将其全部内容结合于此。
数字图像处理子系统26的主要功能是在照明和操作模式期间,处理已经由该图像捕捉和缓冲子系统25捕捉和缓冲的数字图像。这样的图像处理操作包括如在美国专利No.7,128,266中所描述的基于成像的条形码解码方法,该美国专利No.7,128,266通过引用结合于此。

系统控制子系统30的主要功能是向该系统内如所示出的每个子系统部件提供某预定度的控制、协调和/或管理信令服务。虽然此子系统可以通过编程的微处理器来实现,但是在本实用新型的优选实施例中,此子系统通过在图3和13中所示出的微计算平台上支持的三层软件架构来实现,并且该三层软件架构在美国专利No.7,128,266以及在下文中其他地方予以描述。
与该壳体集成的手动可激活触发开关5的主要功能是,在手动触发操作模式期间,使得用户在手动按压其(即促使触发事件)时能够生成控制激活信号(即触发事件信号),和把此控制激活信号提供给系统控制子系统30以供在实施如本文详细地描述的其复杂系统和子系统控制操作时使用。
系统存储器中的系统配置参数表29的主要功能是针对可用特征和功能性中的每一个,以及可编程的支持系统操作模式,存储(在非易失性/持久性存储器中)一组系统配置和控制参数(即SCP),并且在其复杂操作期间,根据需要该组系统配置和控制参数可以由系统控制子系统30自动读取和使用。特别地,这样的SCP可以如在共同未决的美国公开号20080314985 A1中非常详细地教导的那样被动态管理,该美国公开号20080314985 A1通过引用结合于此。
由图像处理子系统26支持的、基于成像的手指指向模块26A的主要功能,是自动处理由图像捕捉和缓冲子系统25缓冲的所捕捉数字图像,和支持图5A至5C的流程图中所描述的图像处理操作,其是在子系统30的控制下实施的。
采用说明性实施例的基于数字成像的条形码符号读取系统所支持的自动化手指指向识别来读取条形码符号的方法。
在数字成像器操作的手支持和免提(台面)支持模式期间,在其中采用手指指向触发操作方法,该系统控制子系统30实施通过图5A至5C的流程图描述的控制方法。
如图5A中在块A处所指示的,该过程中的第一步涉及在FOV内自动检测对象。这将涉及使用自动对象检测子系统来检测对象,所述自动对象检测子系统可以将基于IR的光束投射到该FOV中并检测来自存在于该FOV中的对象的返回信号,以便对其进行检测。
然后在块B处,该系统捕捉该FOV内的对象的数字图像,并在块C处,评价(即分析)该数字图像以致力于检测在该数字图像中(一个或多个)拉长对象200的存在,所述拉长对象200指示在该FOV中指向手指201的存在。这将涉及使用图像捕捉和缓冲子系统25捕捉和缓冲至少单个数字图像数据帧。
在块D处,该系统,采用子系统25且是模块25A,自动处理数字图像数据并且在所捕捉图像中确定是否存在拉长对象。如果在块D处在该数字图像中未检测到拉长对象,则在块E处,该系统确定在该数字图像内是否检测到单个条形码符号。如果在块E处检测到单个条形码符号,则在块F处该系统确定该条形码符号是否是可解码的,并且如果是这样的,则在块G处,该系统对该条形码符号进行解码并向主机系统发送符号字符数据。如果在块F处该条形码符号是不可解码的,则在块H处该系统向主机系统发送解码失败通知,并返回到块B,如所指示的。
如果在块E处,该系统在所捕捉数字图像中未读取单个条形码符号,则在块I处该系统使用默认选单扫描和ROI参数,然后在块F处重新尝试对所检测的条形码符号进行解码,如所示出的。
如果在块D处,该系统在该FOV的图像内确实检测到拉长图像,这指示在该系统的FOV中存在指向手指,则在块J处,该系统确定在该图像内是否只检测到一个(1)拉长对象200。如果是这样的,则在块K处该系统捕捉和缓冲该FOV的多个数字图像,并且在块L处比较所述数字图像以检测所检测到的拉长对象(即指向手指)的位置变化。然后在块M处,该系统定位该单个拉长对象200的端点,然后在块N处,确定该对象是否移动。如果该系统在块N处确定该对象确实移动了,则该系统返回块A并捕捉另一图像且重新开始该流程图中在块A处所指示的处理。
如果在块N处,该系统确定该单个拉长对象(即指向手指)在该FOV中未移动,则在块O处,该系统确定是否在接近于在块M处所确定的拉长对象的端点坐标的邻近区域202中定位/检测到条形码符号。如果检测/定位到条形码符号203接近于该拉长对象(即指向手指)的端点,即在接近于该指向手指200端部的感兴趣区域(ROI)202中,则在块P处该系统确定此条形码是否是可解码的,并且如果是这样的,则在块Q处,对该条形码符号进行解码并向主机系统传输该符号字符数据。如果所检测的条形码符号不是可解码的,则在块R处该系统发送解码失败通知消息并返回到该流程图中的块B,如所指示的。
如果在块O处,检测到该条形码符号不接近于该拉长对象(即指向手指)的端点,则在块S处,该系统确定在该图像中是否检测到任何条形码符号,并且如果检测到条形码符号,则在块T处,该系统使用默认选单扫描/ROI默认,并返回到块P以确定该条形码符号是否是可解码的。如果在块S处,该系统确定在该图像中没有检测到条形码符号,则该系统返回到块H并发送解码失败通知。
如果在块J处该系统在该图像中检测到不止一个拉长对象(即指示若干手指向外伸展并指向该FOV中的不同区域,这表示无意指向包含条形码符号的任何特定区域),则在块U处,该系统捕捉和缓冲该FOV的多个数字图像,并且在块V处,比较所述数字图像以致力于检测所述拉长对象(即手指)的位置变化。在块W处,该系统定位拉长对象的端点,并在块X处该系统确定拉长对象在该FOV内是否移动。如果拉长对象已经移动,则该系统返回到块B并捕捉另一图像且重新开始图5A中所指示的过程。然而,如果该系统确定拉长对象没有移动,则在块Y处,该系统(即模块25A)在该数字图像中定位所检测的每个拉长对象的端点,并在块E处,确定具有与包含本地条形码符号的区域接近的端点的拉长对象的数目(即指向包含条形码符号的感兴趣区域的手指数目)。在块AA处,该系统于是确定是否在该数字图像中检测到的只有一个拉长对象具有与本地条形码接近的端点(即一个手指正指向包含条形码符号的感兴趣区域),并且如果这是如此的,则返回到块P并确定该条形码符号是否是可解码的。然而,如果该系统确定在该数字图像中检测到具有与本地条形码接近的端点的不止一个拉长对象(即检测到不止一个手指正指向包含条形码符号的感兴趣区域),则该系统返回到块R并发送解码失败通知,然后返回到块B,并且该系统返回到该控制过程中的此点。
当数字成像条形码符号读取系统正在其手指指向触发操作模式下操作时的智能手指指向识别性能的几个示例。
当基于数字成像的系统1正在其手指指向触发模式下操作时,或者在其可手持系统操作模式或者可台面支持系统操作模式下操作时,用户可以通过仅将单个手指指向条形码符号选单上的特定符号,来读取在选单或任何其他对象上的特定条形码符号,并且当检测到此状况时,该系统将自动读取与用户的手指指向的端部最接近的条形码,以及将生成符号字符数据并将其传输给主机计算系统。
如果用户的手是张开的,并且在指向配置中不止一个手指向外伸展(即,和符合伸展的对象),则该系统将自动检测到此手状况,并将不读取该选单上任何条形码符号。
在用户的手具有不止一个跨越该选单向外指向的手指,并且该系统检测到该手是静止的或者跨越该选单是移动的时,该系统于是将不读取该选单上的任何条形码符号。然而,当用户的手跨越该选单停止移动,并且该用户仅单个手指指向该选单上的条形码符号时,该系统于是将读取与该用户的指向手指的端部接近的条形码符号。
在用户指向该选单(即对象)上的条形码符号并读取所检测的条形码符号,以及用户然后将他的或她的指向手指移动到与先前读取的条形码符号不同的另一条形码符号之后,该系统将在图像处理期间自动检测这样的状况,并以连续的方式而无需用户将他的或她的手指移动到该系统的FOV之外自动地读取该不同的条形码符号。
这些只是在手持式或免提式系统操作模式下条形码符号读取期间,该系统1的智能手指指向识别性能的几个示例。
替换实施例
虽然已经结合与涉及1D和2D条形码结构的各种类型的条形码符号读取应用,对说明性实施例进行了描述,但是应理解的是,对说明性实施例的基于成像的系统和方法可以被用来读取(即识别)任何机器可读标记、数据表单、或图形编码的智能形式,包括但不限于条形码符号结构、字母数字字符识别字符串、笔记、以及本领域目前已知或将来开发的不同的数据表单。在下文中,术语“码符号”应被视为包括所有这样的信息承载结构和其他图形编码的智能形 式。
而且,本公开内容的数字成像系统还可以被用来在不同用户应用中检测、捕捉和处理包括印刷在驾照、通行证、信用卡、金融卡等上的照片和标记在内的各种类型的图形图像。
因此,说明性实施例的数字成像系统所支持的手指指向触发操作模式可以被用来识别图像(使用适当的参考库和数据库),以及读取如上所描述的不同符号体系的码符号。
在本公开的替换实施例中,在照明子系统22内采用的照明阵列23可以使用固态光源而不是LED来实现,所述固态光源诸如,像在被转让给Metrologic Instruments公司且通过引用将其全部内容结合于此的共同未决的美国公开号20080283611A1中更加详细地教导的可见激光二极管(VLD)。
而且,线性照明阵列23可以使用如在其全部内容通过引用结合于此的共同未决的美国公开号20080283611A1中非常详细地教导的可见照明源和不可见照明源这二者的组合来实现。这样的谱混合技术的使用将使得能够实现在使用最低可见光照明水平时,捕捉具有高对比度的条形码标签图像。
虽然把CMOS图像检测阵列技术描述为被用在优选实施例中,但是应理解的是在替换实施例中,可以使用CCD型图像检测阵列技术,以及其他类型的图像检测技术。
在上文中所瞄述的数字成像系统设计可以容易地被适配成用作工业或商业移动设备和/或固定定位的条形码读取器/成像器,其具有在工业界公共使用的接口,诸如,例如以太网TCP/IP。
应理解的是可以以对于受益于本文所公开的新颖教导的本领域技术人员来说是将变成容易显而易见的各种方式来修改在说明性实施例的条形码符号读取系统中采用的数字图像捕捉和处理技术。其说明性实施例的所有这样的修改和变体应被视为处于在附于此的权利要求书的范围之内。
Claims (3)
1.一种基于数字成像的图形标记识别系统,其特征在于该系统包括:
自动手指指向触发操作模式;
具有光传输孔的壳体;
设置在所述壳体中的图像形成和检测子系统,其具有图像形成光学器件,用来在对象照明和成像操作期间,产生视场并将其投射通过所述光传输孔并且到区域型图像检测阵列上,所述区域型图像检测阵列用于检测存在于所述视场内的对象的2D数字图像;
设置在所述壳体中的照明子系统,其包括照明阵列,用来在所述视场内产生照明场,并且对在所述视场内检测到的所述对象进行照明,使得所述照明反射离开所述对象并且向回传输通过所述光传输孔并且到所述图像检测阵列上以形成所述对象的所述2D数字图像;
设置在所述壳体中的图像捕捉和缓冲子系统,用来捕捉和缓冲由所述图像形成和检测子系统检测到的2D数字图像;和
数字图像处理子系统,用来在所述自动手指指向触发操作模式期间,处理由所述图像捕捉和缓冲子系统捕捉和缓冲的所述一个或多个2D数字图像,以及读取表示于其中的1D和2D码符号;
其中所述数字图像处理子系统包括指向手指识别和移动检测模块,用来自动处理由所述图像捕捉和缓冲子系统缓冲的所捕捉数字图像,并且支持所述自动手指指向触发操作模式所需的图像处理操作,包括自动检测(i)用户的指向手指的存在,以及(ii)所述手指正指向的感兴趣区域,因此能够处理所述感兴趣区域中的像素以便读取由在所述感兴趣区域中包含的像素图形表示的图形标记项。
2.根据权利要求1所述的基于数字成像的图形标记识别系统,其特征在于该系统还包括:
输入/输出子系统,其被设置在所述壳体中,用来把经处理的图形数据输出到外部主机系统或其他信息接收或响应设备;和
系统控制子系统,其被设置在所述壳体中,用来在对象检测、照明和成像操作期间控制和/或协调所述子系统。
3.根据权利要求1所述的基于数字成像的图形标记识别系统,其特征在于所述照明子系统包括LED阵列。
