Abstract

Description
技术领域
本发明涉及涂料组合物和具有由涂料组合物形成的光催化涂层的带涂层的制品,尤其是在建筑材料中的应用,例如屋顶粒料。
背景技术
由于藻类生长或其他介质导致的建筑物表面变色一直是困扰建筑业多年的难题。变色往往是由于蓝绿藻和其他通过空气传播的污染物(例如烟尘和油脂)的存在所引起。
解决该问题的一个方法是为建筑物表面涂覆包含光催化剂和粘结剂(通常为硅酸盐粘结剂)的组合物。当暴露于阳光下时,光催化剂可以光氧化导致变色的有机材料。
光催化二氧化钛(TiO2)粒子可以用于提供光催化活性,例如用在屋顶粒料中。合适的TiO2粒子通常很小,其平均粒度在约1nm至约1000nm范围内。由于此类粒子的表面积与体积比很高,因此其具有很强的表面相互作用,并且它们无需任何处理就往往会聚集成较大的簇。因此,需要使用相对更大量的TiO2粒子以获得合格的光活性水平。这通常使带涂层的粒料的颜色变淡,并因此失去美感。
发明内容
本发明涉及涂料组合物以及通过涂覆涂料组合物得到的带涂层的制品。
本发明的涂料组合物大致包含平均簇粒度小于约300nm的光催化剂分散体和碱金属硅酸盐粘结剂。分散体可通过混合光催化剂、分散剂和溶剂制成。优选地,光催化剂为过渡金属氧化物。特别优选的光催化剂包括结晶锐钛矿型TiO2、结晶金红石型TiO2、结晶ZnO以及它们的组合。涂料组合物中光催化剂的固体重量百分比在约0.1%至约90%范围内。优选的重量百分比在约30%至约80%范围内。合适的分散剂的例子包括无机酸、无机碱、有机酸、有机碱、无水或水合有机酸盐以及它们的组合。合适的溶剂可以为溶解所用分散剂的任何溶剂。合适的碱金属硅酸盐粘结剂的例子包括硅酸锂、硅酸钠、硅酸钾、以及它们的组合。
将涂料组合物涂覆在基底制品上,然后在回转窑、烘箱或其他合适的设备中将其加热至高温,可以制成具有改善的透明性并具有所需光活性的光催化涂层。优选的制品包括易受由于藻类生长或其他介质(例如粉尘、灰尘、烟尘、花粉等通过空气传播的颗粒)所产生的变色影响的建筑材料。一种特别优选的制品是屋顶粒料。
具体实施方式
本发明涉及涂料组合物,该涂料组合物包含平均簇粒度小于约300nm的光催化剂分散体和碱金属硅酸盐粘结剂,并且涉及带涂层的制品,该制品包括具有改善的透明性的光催化涂层。在本发明中,光催化涂层的透明性通过测量带涂层的制品和基底制品之间的L*、a*、b*数值差值来表征,并且优选的是每个所测得的差值的绝对值都小于约2。L*、a*、b*数值分别表示在明暗、红绿、以及黄蓝中的色标,并且需要用全部三个数值来描述物体的颜色。对于两个不同的对象,它们的L*、a*、b*数值差值代表它们的颜色差别。
通过以下方法形成光催化涂层:将涂料组合物涂覆在基底制品上,然后加热至最低约170℃、最高约650℃的高温,优选的温度为约200℃至约450℃。该涂层可以预防基底制品因藻类生长或其他介质而变色。就本发明的用途而言,涂层可以具有多个层。
适用于本发明的基底制品可以为能够耐受至少约170℃的温度的任何陶瓷、金属、或聚合物材料或它们的复合材料。优选的制品包括易受由于藻类侵扰或其他介质(例如粉尘、灰尘、烟尘、花粉等通过空气传播的颗粒)所产生的变色影响的建筑材料。例子包括:屋顶材料、混凝土和水泥材料、石膏、沥青、陶瓷、灰墁、水泥浆、塑料、金属或带涂层的金属、玻璃、或它们的组合。其他例子包括:池面、墙面材料、壁板材料、地板、过滤系统、冷却塔、浮标、海堤、护岸、船体、码头、以及沟渠。一种特别优选的制品为屋顶粒料,例如由火成岩、粘板岩、绿岩、花岗岩、暗色岩、石英砂、页岩、霞石正长岩、玄武石、碎石英石、矿渣等形成,并且粒度(以直径计)在约300μm至约5000μm范围内的屋顶粒料。通常将屋顶粒料部分地嵌入基底屋顶材料(例如沥青浸渍的屋顶板),从而保护基底材料免受阳光和环境恶化的影响。另一种特别优选的制品为瓦片,例如由陶器、石头、瓷器、金属、聚合物、或它们的复合材料形成的那些瓦片。瓦片通常用于覆盖屋顶、天花板、地板、以及墙面,或其他物体(例如桌面),以提供耐磨性、耐候性和/或耐火性。
本发明的涂料组合物包含光催化剂分散体。在活化或暴露于阳光后,认为光催化剂形成氧化和还原部位。人们认为这些部位会产生高度活性的物质,例如能够抑制或阻碍藻类或其他生物群在带涂层的制品上生长(尤其是在存在水的情况下)的羟基。
分散体可以通过(例如)混合光催化剂、分散剂和溶剂制成。本领域内的技术人员通常认可的多种光催化剂都适用于本发明。优选的光催化剂包括过渡金属光催化剂。合适的过渡金属光催化剂的例子包括:TiO2、ZnO、WO3、SnO2、CaTiO3、Fe2O3、MoO3、Nb2O5、TixZr(1-x)O2、SiC、SrTiO3、CdS、GaP、InP、GaAs、BaTiO3、KNbO3、Ta2O5、Bi2O3、NiO、Cu2O、SiO2、MoS2、InPb、RuO2、CeO2、Ti(OH)4、以及它们的组合。特别优选的光催化剂包括结晶锐钛矿型TiO2、结晶金红石型TiO2、结晶ZnO以及它们的组合。为了提高频谱效率,光催化剂可以掺杂非金属元素,例如C、N、S、F,或掺杂金属或金属氧化物,例如Pt、Pd、Au、Ag、Os、Rh、RuO2、Nb、Cu、Sn、Ni、Fe、或它们的组合。
合适的分散剂可以为无机酸、无机碱、有机酸、有机碱、无水或水合有机酸盐以及它们的组合。无机酸的例子包括二元酸,例如盐酸;以及含氧酸,例如硝酸、硫酸、磷酸、高氯酸和碳酸。无机碱的例子包括氨,以及锂、钠、钾、铷和铯的氢氧化物。有机酸的例子包括一羧酸,例如甲酸、乙酸和丙酸;二羧酸,例如草酸、戊二酸、琥珀酸、丙二酸、马来酸和己二酸;三羧酸,例如柠檬酸;以及氨基酸,例如甘氨酸。有机碱的例子包括尿素、嘌呤和嘧啶。有机酸盐的例子包括羧酸铵,例如乙酸铵、草酸铵和草酸氢铵、柠檬酸铵和柠檬酸氢铵;以及羧酸盐,例如锂、钠和钾的草酸盐和草酸氢盐,以及镁、钇、钛、锆、钒、铬、钼、钨、锰、铁、钴、镍、钌、铑、钯、锇、铱、铂、铜、银、金、锌、镓、铟、锗、锡、镧和铈的草酸盐。
合适的溶剂可以为溶解所用分散剂的任何溶剂。溶剂的例子包括水性溶剂,例如水和双氧水;醇类,例如乙醇、甲醇、2-丙醇和丁醇;酮类,例如丙酮和2-丁酮;石蜡复合溶剂;以及芳族化合物溶剂。
由于其表面的相互作用,分散体中的光催化剂可以聚集成簇。所形成的簇的平均粒度小于约300nm。平均簇粒度可以通过光散射测定。平均簇粒度与平均粒度不同。平均粒度表征光催化剂的各个粒子,并且通常使用电子显微镜测量。平均簇粒度小于约300nm的市售的TiO2分散体的例子包括STS-21分散体(得自Ishihara Sangyo Kaisha,Japan)和W2730X分散体(得自Degussa AG,Germany)。本发明中此类分散体的使用可以制成具有改善的透明性并具有所需光活性的光催化涂层。
涂料组合物中光催化剂的固体重量百分比在约0.1%至约90%的范围内。优选的重量百分比在约30%至约80%的范围内。
合适的碱金属硅酸盐粘结剂的例子包括硅酸锂、硅酸钠、硅酸钾、以及它们的组合。碱金属硅酸盐通常表示为M2O∶SiO2,其中M为锂、钠、或钾。SiO2与M2O的重量比可在约1.4∶1至约3.75∶1的范围内。优选的重量比在约2.75∶1至约3.22∶1的范围内。
涂料组合物可以包含颜料、或颜料的组合以获得所需的颜色。合适的颜料包括传统颜料,例如炭黑、氧化钛、氧化铬、氧化铁黄、酞菁绿和酞菁蓝、群青蓝、氧化铁红、金属铁氧体、以及它们的组合。
通过向涂料组合物中添加烷氧基硅烷(如提交于2006年12月22日的3M专利申请No.62043US002所公开,该专利申请的公开内容全文以引用方式并入本文)和/或添加硼酸、硼酸盐、或它们的组合(如提交于2006年12月22日的3M专利申请No.62617US002所公开,该专利申请的公开内容全文以引用方式并入本文)可以提高本发明的光催化涂层的耐久性。
实例
将参照下面的详细实例进一步描述本发明的操作。提供这些实例以进一步说明各种具体的和优选的实施例和技术。然而,应当理解,可以在不脱离本发明的范围的前提下进行多种变型和更改。
平均簇粒度的测量
可以使用Nanosizer(Nano-ZS系列,得自Malvern Instruments,United Kingdom)测量TiO2的STS-21分散体的平均簇粒度。测量平均簇粒度的工序如下。用30g去离子水稀释约0.02g的分散体。将稀释的分散体充分摇匀,然后将约3ml稀释的分散体转移至配有4.5μm过滤器的10ml塑料注射器中。然后将过滤的分散体用于测量平均簇粒度。重复该工序两次,并记录三次测量的平均值。
L*、a*、b*数值的测量
将粒料放入直径为3英寸的圆形样品夹持器中。然后挤压粒料以使其平坦,并与夹持器的边缘对齐。将夹持器放入LabScan XE分光光度计(HunterLab,Reston,VA)中,并进行扫描。然后倒空夹持器并重新装入粒料,再次进行扫描。计算两次扫描的平均值,从而得到粒料的L*、a*、b*数值。
光催化活性测试
用-16/+20的网孔筛选粒料,再用去离子水洗涤5次,然后在240°F(约116℃)下干燥约20分钟。将40g干燥粒料放入500ml的结晶皿中。然后将500g 4×10-4M的对苯二甲酸二钠水溶液加入结晶皿。用置于水下小培养皿中的、由结晶皿下的磁力搅拌器驱动的磁力搅拌棒搅拌混合物。用通过两个特殊设计的镇流器(Action Labs,Woodville,WI)供电的4个等间距、4英尺(1.2米)长的紫光灯泡(Sylvania 350 BL 40W F40/350BL)组成阵列,将混合物暴露于该阵列产生的紫外光下。调整灯泡的高度以提供约2.3mW/cm2的紫外光通量,紫外光通量用配备波长带为320至390nm的UVA 365型辐射计(UVA Model 365 Radiometer,Solar LightCompany,Glenside,PA)的VWR 21800-016型紫外光度计(VWR Model 21800-016 UV Light Meter,VWR International,West Chester,PA)测量。
照射期间,每隔约5分钟用吸移管移除约3ml混合物,并转移至一次性4窗口的聚甲基丙烯酸甲酯比色杯或石英比色杯。然后将比色杯中的混合物放入Fluoromax-3分光荧光计(Jobin Yvon,Edison,NJ)。作出在314nm激发波长和424nm发射波长下测量的荧光强度与照射时间的曲线。曲线的线性部分(初始的3至5个数据点)的斜率可以表示混合物的光催化活性。该斜率与对苯二甲酸二钠水溶液的斜率的对比提供了所记录的粒料的相对光活性。通常,记录的值越大,粒料的光活性也越高。
工作实例1-3
空白红色粒料的制备如下。将43.02g硅酸钠(硅酸钠PD(SodiumSilicate PD),得自PQ Corporation,Valley Forge,PA)、16.00g去离子水、6.57g氧化铁红M201Y(Red Iron Oxide M201Y)(得自RevelliChemicals,Greenwich,CT)、4.13g氧化铁红RO-5097(Red Iron OxideRO-5097)(得自Harcros Chemicals,Kansas City,KS)、以及10.95gDover粘土(Dover Clay)(得自Grace Davison,Columbia,MA)加入250mL容器中并充分混合。然后将所得混合物缓慢倒在已经预加热至210°F(约99℃)一小时并且正在搅拌的1000g 11号等级的未涂布粒料上(得自3M公司,St.Paul,MN)上。倾倒时,搅拌粒料以确保获得均匀的涂层。将粒料再搅拌约2分钟,然后用热风枪加热,直到它们看起来干燥并且松散。然后将干燥的粒料放入回转窑中用天然气/氧气火焰灼烧至800°F(约427℃),将其移出并且冷却至室温。
工作实例1的带光催化涂层的红色粒料的制备如下。将0.34g硅酸钾(Kasil 1,得自PQ Corporation)、0.51g TiO2的水性分散体(STS-21,得自Ishihara Sangyo Kaisha,Japan)、以及40.79g去离子水加入250mL容器中并充分混合。然后将所得混合物缓慢倒在按照以上所述制备并且正在搅拌的空白红色粒料上,该粒料已经预加热至210°F一小时。倾倒时,搅拌粒料以确保获得均匀的涂层。将粒料再搅拌约2分钟,然后用热风枪加热,直到它们看起来干燥并且松散。然后将干燥的粒料放入回转窑中用天然气/氧气火焰灼烧至800°F,将其移出并且冷却至室温。采用同样的工序制备工作实例2和3的带光催化涂层的红色粒料,不同的是使用不同的涂料组合物。表1中列出工作实例1-3的光催化涂层的组成。根据上述测试工序测得STS-21分散体的平均簇粒度为约220nm。
根据上述测试工序测量带光催化涂层的红色粒料的L*、a*、b*数值和光催化活性,并记录在表1中。为了进行比较,还测量空白红色粒料的L*、a*、b*数值和光催化活性,并记录在表1中。结果表明使用平均簇粒度相对较小的TiO2分散体可制成对颜色影响最小并且具有所需光活性的光催化涂层。

工作实例4-6
采用与制备工作实例1-3的空白红色粒料相同的工序制备空白黄褐色粒料,不同的是使用不同的涂料组合物。具体地讲,采用以下方法制备涂料组合物:将35.37g硅酸钠PD(Sodium Silicate PD)、13.67g去离子水、6.10g Mapico黄褐色氧化铁10A(Mapico Tan Iron Oxide 10A)(得自Rockwood Pigments,Beltsville,MD)、0.53g炭黑M-8452(CarbonBlack M-8452)(得自Rockwood Pigments)、2.64g烧棕土L1361(BurntUmber L1361)(得自Rockwood Pigments)、1.70g铬绿112(ChromiumOxide 112)(得自Elementis Chromium,Corpus Christi,TX)、以及8.13g Dover粘土(Dover Clay)(得自Grace Davison,Columbia,MA)加入250mL容器中,然后充分混合。
采用与制备工作实例1的带光催化涂层的红色粒料相同的工序制备工作实例4-6的带光催化涂层的黄褐色粒料,不同的是使用不同的涂料组合物,并且所使用的粒料为空白黄褐色粒料,而非空白红色粒料。表2中列出工作实例4-6的光催化涂层的组成。
根据上述测试工序测量带光催化涂层的黄褐色粒料的L*、a*、b*数值和光催化活性,并记录在表2中。为了进行比较,还测量空白黄褐色粒料的L*、a*、b*数值和光催化活性,并记录在表2中。结果同样表明使用平均簇粒度相对较小的TiO2分散体可制成对颜色影响最小并且具有所需光活性的光催化涂层。

Claims (26)
1.一种带涂层的制品,包括:
具有外表面的制品和在所述制品的所述外表面上的涂层,其中所述涂层由包含平均簇粒度小于约300nm的光催化剂分散体和碱金属硅酸盐粘结剂的组合物形成。
2.根据权利要求1所述的带涂层的制品,其中所述制品为屋顶粒料。
3.根据权利要求1所述的带涂层的制品,其中所述制品为瓦片。
4.根据权利要求1所述的带涂层的制品,其中所述光催化剂包括:TiO2、ZnO、WO3、SnO2、CaTiO3、Fe2O3、MoO3、Nb2O5、TixZr(1-x)O2、SiC、SrTiO3、CdS、GaP、InP、GaAs、BaTiO3、KNbO3、Ta2O5、Bi2O3、NiO、Cu2O、SiO2、MoS2、InPb、RuO2、CeO2、Ti(OH)4、或它们的组合。
5.根据权利要求1所述的带涂层的制品,其中所述光催化剂包括结晶锐钛矿型TiO2、结晶金红石型TiO2、结晶ZnO、或它们的组合。

10.一种带涂层的屋顶粒料,包括:
具有外表面的屋顶粒料和在所述屋顶粒料的所述外表面上的涂层,其中所述涂层由包含平均簇粒度小于约300nm的光催化剂分散体和碱金属硅酸盐粘结剂的组合物形成,并且其中所述带涂层的粒料和所述基底粒料之间的L*、a*、b*数值差值的绝对值均小于约2。
11.一种涂料组合物,包含:
平均簇粒度小于约300nm的光催化剂分散体和碱金属硅酸盐粘结剂。
12.根据权利要求11所述的涂料组合物,其中所述光催化剂包括:TiO2、ZnO、WO3、SnO2、CaTiO3、Fe2O3、MoO3、Nb2O5、TixZr(1-x)O2、SiC、SrTiO3、CdS、GaP、InP、GaAs、BaTiO3、KNbO3、Ta2O5、Bi2O3、NiO、Cu2O、SiO2、MoS2、InPb、RuO2、CeO2、Ti(OH)4、或它们的组合。

17.一种制备带涂层的制品的方法,包括:
提供具有外表面的制品;
提供包含平均簇粒度小于约300nm的光催化剂分散体和碱金属硅酸盐粘结剂的组合物;
将所述组合物沉积到所述制品上;以及
加热所述沉积后的制品,从而在所述制品上形成涂层。
18.根据权利要求17所述的方法,其中所述制品为屋顶粒料。
19.根据权利要求17所述的方法,其中所述制品为瓦片。
20.根据权利要求17所述的方法,其中所述光催化剂包括:TiO2、ZnO、WO3、SnO2、CaTiO3、Fe2O3、MoO3、Nb2O5、TixZr(1-x)O2、SiC、SrTiO3、CdS、GaP、InP、GaAs、BaTiO3、KNbO3、Ta2O5、Bi2O3、NiO、Cu2O、SiO2、MoS2、InPb、RuO2、CeO2、Ti(OH)4、或它们的组合。

25.根据权利要求17所述的方法,其中所述带涂层的制品与所述基底制品之间的L*、a*、b*数值差值的绝对值均小于约2。
26.一种制备带涂层的屋顶粒料的方法,包括:
提供具有外表面的屋顶粒料;
提供包含平均簇粒度小于约300nm的光催化剂分散体和碱金属硅酸盐粘结剂的组合物;
将所述组合物沉积到所述屋顶粒料上;以及
加热所述沉积后的屋顶粒料,从而在所述屋顶粒料上形成涂层,其中所述带涂层的粒料和所述基底粒料之间的L*、a*、b*数值差值的绝对值均小于约2。
