在当今社会数字化媒体和数字化媒体设备正变得无处不在。很多这些能够执行数字化媒体的设备是具有无线性能的便携式设备。与数字媒体可用性的增长以及对便携式设备的强烈需求相应的是无线网络技术和发布数字化媒体能力的发展。结果,例如通过很多不同的网络和协议,能够接收数字化媒体。

设备的存储器108能用于存储内容或其它的用户和/或设备数据。存储器108也能够记录从内容供应商接收的或从另一个源获取的内容。存储器108,例如,可以存储数字化音乐和/或视频、图像、播放表、用户的优先选择、设备的设置、和此类或它们任意的组合。
设备100也可适合接入另一个设备例如计算机118。一旦接入计算机118,设备100就能够同步存储器108中所存储的数字化媒体。此外,根据本发明的实施例,为了保护权利或购买可能已经存储于存储器108中的内容,设备100能够通过网络120与服务器122进行通信。尽管图1描述了设备100通过计算机118与服务器122进行通信,然而设备100也能够通过包括无线网络(例如基于802.11的网络、蓝牙网络、或此类)的其它网络探测服务器122或其它设备并与其进行通信。因此不接入计算机118,设备100也可与服务器122进行通信。
图2描述了用在制作对于设备可用的内容或发现内容方面的示例系统和方法。在这个示例中,内容供应商例如卫星无线电通信系统可以利用内容服务器202来准备通过卫星系统发送的内容。然后内容服务器202能够发送所准备的内容(对于通过卫星系统广播的所有频道)至卫星上行链路204。通过该卫星上行链路204,发送所准备的内容到卫星系统。然后由卫星系统中的卫星广播所准备的内容。发送所准备的内容到卫星无线电通信也可能涉及利用地面转发器。
设备210(设备100的一个实施例)利用调谐器212接收由内容服务器202所准备的内容。该调谐器212识别与用户当前所选频道相关的报文或其它数据。调谐器212的操作关系到通过卫星系统接收的内容的特征。例如,可以在设备210首先必须获得的模拟信号中加载数字化内容。因此调谐器212能够锁定到卫星信号上并从卫星信息中解析出数字化数据。然后为了识别特别针对用户当前所选频道的这些报文,调谐器212和处理器进一步处理该数字化数据。以这种方式,调谐器212能够根据设备210的性能从卫星广播中选取特定的频道。执行所选的频道可包括设备210在调整的内容上执行解密214。所调整的内容也可记录于存储器216中。在记录所调整的内容时,设备210可以降低质量或简单地存储识别所调整的内容的元数据。
设备210也能够发现在卫星数据流205中的其它频道上内容。除了调整和执行用户当前所选的频道,设备210能够调整数据流205中的其它频道,并且随后记录这些频道而不执行这些频道。甚至当用户不积极使用设备210的时候,这也能够发生。由于设备210的能力经常受到存储器216大小的限制,因此来自可用于设备210的频道并能够被记录的内容的数量是有限的。
例如,设备210能够记录可用在数据流205上的所有频道上的内容。在一个实施例中,设备210使用优先选择218来选取特定的频道。例如,用户能够识别其内容应该被记录的特定频道。在另一个实施例中,设备210能够监视用户的使用习惯并随后记录该用户通常选择的那些频道。通过减少正被设备210记录的频道的数目,能够为每个频道记录更多的内容。优先选择218可包括,例如,用户最喜爱的频道、包括其它用户的或从其它设备接收的频道列表的优先选择、首选的艺术家或歌曲、流派、内容类型(例如访谈、体育、音乐等)以及其它能够修饰或描述内容的信息。用户优先选择218能用来从可用于该设备的频道中选择频道。利用用户优先选择来选取频道可包括,例如并不限于:基于由设备的用户识别的优先选择的频道来选择一个或多个频道;基于一个或多个艺术家来选择一个或多个频道;基于一个或多个流派来选择一个或多个频道;基于另一个用户的优先选择或从另一个设备选择一个或多个频道;或基于存储于设备中的播放列表,以及此类或它们任意的组合来选择一个或多个频道。
利用这些优先选择,设备210能够检查其它频道(包括元数据),以获取匹配用户的优先选择218或与其有很大关联的内容。因此,在用户的优先选择中可以记录包含特定艺术家的内容的频道。或者,也可以记录包含另外一个用户的艺术家列表的内容的频道。在一个实施例中,将优先选择或用户的优先选择的至少一部分至少与可用于该设备的频道的内容相关联的元数据进行比较。选择最匹配或与用户的优先选择有最高相关度的频道并记录下来。在一个实施例中,基于设备中可用的存储器以及可用的预计记录时间,被选择记录的数量或频道可能是有限的。换句话说,可能优先记录4个频道的2小时内容而不是16个频道的30分钟内容。
用户接口220能用于配置优先选择218,以配置调谐器212来识别匹配优先选择218的数据流205上的频道。
记录完事实上被调整的频道之后,可以通知用户所记录的内容。当处在合适的网络范围时,通过联系合适的服务器(例如图1所示的服务器122),设备210也可以自动获得访问所获内容的权利。在一个实施例中,存储器216中所记录的内容既可被加密也可不被加密,并且既可被压缩也可不被压缩。换句话说,设备210能够解密和/或压缩所记录的内容。压缩该内容增加了可记录内容的数量。
图2进一步描述了内容供应商202能够通过IP服务器206(或通过另外一个无线或有线网络)发送相同或相异的内容。当设备210处于合适网络的范围时,设备210能够从IP服务器206接收由内容供应商202准备的频道。可能存在例如该内容在卫星网络上不可用的示例(例如来自卫星网络的信号被阻塞或设备不在卫星网络的覆盖范围内)。在此情况下,设备210可能在基于IP的网络范围内,该基于IP的网络传送所准备的来自内容服务器202的内容。设备210能够接收卫星网络的数据流205以及基于IP的网络的数据流207。
在这个示例中,数据流207为通过合适的无线和/或有线网络发送的基于IP的数据流。设备210接收数据流207。因为由内容服务器202准备数据流的内容,所以该数据流可能与通过卫星上行链路204发送的内容一样。设备210从IP服务器206接收内容的能力可能取决于例如带宽。
为了记录内容,设备210能够与IP服务器206进行通信以请求特定频道的数据。所选的频道能够被发送至设备210,该设备在存储器216中存储该内容。甚至当设备210无法通过卫星网络接收卫星内容时,设备210则仍能够记录所选的来自内容服务器202的内容。从IP服务器206请求到的内容可能依赖于上述的优先选择218。
例如,设备210能够发送请求以获取那些匹配优先选择218的某些方面的频道。然后IP服务器206能够识别满足或至少部分满足用户的优先选择218的频道以及设备210的相关频道的数据流。或者,设备210能够从IP服务器请求一个或多个数据流,直到发现满足用户的优先选择的数据流。在一个实施例中,不像被简单广播的来自卫星网络的数据流,可以要求设备210从IP服务器206请求所准备的内容。
也可加密数据流207。这能够保证仅仅授权的设备能够从IP服务器206接收和执行内容。因此,本发明的实施例能够保存通常呈现在例如卫星无线电通信中的内容认证(content authorization,CA)。
图3描述了发现内容的示例方法。设备(例如设备100或设备210)能够接收302内容。在卫星广播的情况下,该设备自动接收由卫星系统广播的所有频道。然后要求该设备调整到特定的频道以便执行。由于内容通常被加密,所以该设备调整到特定频道的能力可能依赖于用户的预定。在基于IP的网络的情况下,接收内容可能要求设备探测合适的网络并且随后请求内容服务器的内容。
当接收完内容时,设备可能检查或处理304多个频道。如以上所述,基于用户的优先选择能够检查包含在数据流或广播中的频道的内容。在一个实施例中,频道中内容的元数据与用户的优先选择进行比较305。由该设备记录数据流中匹配或部分匹配用户的优先选择的那些频道。一旦记录内容的存储器空间耗尽,该设备可能停止记录内容或可能开始覆盖旧的内容。在从IP服务器接收内容的情况中,该设备可能直接从该服务器请求某些频道。在选定频道之后,记录308选定频道中的内容并且最后可能执行310该内容。
如果必须,设备可以在内容被记录之前解密306该内容。另外,该设备可以记录加密的内容。如果所记录或所存储的内容被加密,当用户在该设备上播放或执行它时,该内容被解密。可选择地,该设备能够自动确保访问所记录内容的权利并且随后获取例如该内容的更高质量的版本。
在另一个实施例中,设备能够记录与可用于该设备的频道的内容相关的元数据。之后,该设备则能够下载基于该元数据的内容。这使得用户能够利用更少的空间在更多的频道上记录内容。最后仅仅获得用户选择的内容。
本发明范围内的实施例也包括用于承载,或拥有存储在其上用于执行本发明的实施例的计算机可执行指令或数据结构的计算机可读媒体。此类计算机可读媒体可以是由一般用途或特殊用途的计算机能够访问的任何可用媒体。例如并不限于,此类计算机可读媒体可包括RAM、ROM、EEPROM、CD-ROM或其它光盘存储器、磁盘存储器或其它的磁存储设备、或能用于以计算机可执行指令或数据结构的形式承载或存储所要求的程序代码手段的并且能够由一般用途或特殊用途的计算机访问的任何其它媒体。当通过网络或另一个通信连接(固线、无线或固线或无线的组合)传输或提供信息到计算机时,该计算机将该连接完全视为计算机可读媒体。从而,任何此类连接完全被视为计算机可读媒体。以上的组合也应该包含于计算机可读媒体的范围内。计算机可执行指令包括,例如促使一般用途计算机、特殊用途计算机、或特殊用途的处理设备执行某些功能或一组功能的指令和数据。
接下来的讨论目的是提供在其中可实施本发明的合适计算环境的简洁、概括的描述。尽管不要求,然而将以网络环境中的计算机执行的计算机可执行指令(例如程序模块)的一般环境描述本发明。通常,程序模块包括执行特殊任务或实现特殊的抽象数据类型的例行程序、程序、对象、组件、数据结构等。计算机可执行指令、相关的数据结构、以及程序模块代表了用于执行本文所揭示方法的步骤的程序代码手段的示例。此类可执行指令或相关的数据结构的特殊顺序代表了用于实现这些步骤中描绘的功能的相应过程的示例。

在不违背本发明精神或本质特征下,本发明可以具体化为其它特定的形式。所描述的实施例仅为从各个方面例示性地说明本发明而非用于限制本发明。因此,本发明的范围应如后述权利要求而不是之前的描述所表示。任何在权利要求等效的含意和范围中所作的变化都包含在本发明的范围内。
Claims (20)
1.一种在包含从一个或多个数据流源接收内容的设备的系统中,用于在数据流中发现内容的方法,该方法包括:
从至少一个内容源接收一个或多个数据流,其中该一个或多个数据流包括数字化内容;
基于该设备的用户的优先选择,在一个或多个数据流中选择一个或多个频道;以及
在该设备的存储器中记录所选的一个或多个频道。
2.如权利要求1所述的方法,其中接收一个或多个数据流进一步包括一个或多个以下的步骤:
在卫星广播中接收一个或多个频道;以及
通过基于IP的网络从基于IP的服务器接收一个或多个频道。
3.如权利要求1所述的方法,其中在一个或多个数据流中选择一个或多个频道进一步包括将该设备调整至特定的频道。
4.如权利要求1所述的方法,其中在一个或多个数据流中选择一个或多个频道进一步包括调整所选择的一个或多个频道。
5.如权利要求1所述的方法,其中在一个或多个数据流中选择一个或多个频道进一步包括一个或多个以下的步骤:
基于由设备的用户所识别的优选频道,选择一个或多个频道;
基于一个或多个艺术家,选择一个或多个频道;
基于一个或多个流派,选择一个或多个频道;
基于另一个用户的优先选择或从另一个设备,选择一个或多个频道;或
基存储在该设备中的播放列表,选择一个或多个频道。
6.如权利要求1所述的方法,其中在一个或多个数据流中选择一个或多个频道进一步包括将用户的优先选择与包含在一个或多个数据流中的频道相关联的元数据进行比较。
7.如权利要求1所述的方法,进一步包括没有用户输入时确保访问所记录的一个或多个频道的权利。
8.如权利要求1所述的方法,其中记录所选的一个或多个频道进一步包括基于设备的剩余存储器空间,减少所记录频道的数目。
9.一种具有用来执行权利要求1的方法的计算机可执行指令的计算机可读媒体。
10.一种在包括从一个或多个源接收多个频道的设备的系统中,用于在该频道中发现内容的方法,该方法包括:
接收一个或多个数据流,其中至少一个数据流包括一个或多个通过卫星网络广播的频道,每个频道拥有内容;
至少基于该设备的用户的优先选择处理一个或多个频道,以发现至少部分匹配该优先选择的内容;以及
记录所选的至少部分匹配该优先选择的频道。
11.如权利要求10所述的方法,其中至少基于设备的用户的优先选择处理一个或多个频道进一步包括一个或多个以下的步骤:
选择包含于优先选择中的一个或多个优选的频道;
选择包含于优先选择中的一个或多个播放列表;
选择包含于优先选择中的一个或多个艺术家;以及
选择从另一个用户接收的其它的优先选择。
12.如权利要求10所述的方法,其中处理一个或多个频道进一步包括,基于设备可用的存储空间以及预计的记录时间, 限制该一个或多个频道的数目。
13.如权利要求10所述的方法,其中处理一个或多个频道进一步包括,基于设备的可用存储器带宽,限制该一个或多个频道的数目。
14.如权利要求10所述的方法,其中处理一个或多个频道进一步包括,至少将该优先选择与包含于一个多个频道中每个的内容的元数据进行比较。
15.如权利要求14所述的方法,其中至少基于设备的用户的优先选择处理一个或多个频道进一步包括,至少基于用户的优先选择和一个或多个频道的至少元数据之间的部分匹配来选择一个或多个频道。
16.如权利要求10所述的方法,其中记录频道进一步包括通知设备的用户关于所记录的频道。
17.如权利要求10所述的方法,其中接收一个或多个数据流进一步包括:
通过基于IP的网络发送优先选择到服务器,其中该服务器识别所选的频道;以及
通过基于IP的网络请求所选的频道。
18.如权利要求17所述的方法,其中通过基于IP的网络和通过卫星网络所选的频道是被加密的。
19.如权利要求10所述的方法,其中接收一个或多个数据流进一步包括调整设备至特定的频道并执行该特定的频道,其中特定的频道不含于被记录的所选频道中。
20.一种具有用于执行权利要求10的方法的计算机可执行指令的计算机可读媒体。
